From column

Does anyone know why sometimes people e-mails would appear double in the From column?
<[email protected]><[email protected]>
This would appear even though I have "xxx" in my address book with a full name and e-mail address.
Is there a way to fix this?

because you are seeing what they have their own addresses set up as rather than anything you may see stored in your own computer.
If they bypassed the First and Last Name when setting up their own mail client then some ISPs or clients may default to putting the email in place of the empty entries.

when I send emails, my friends told me my name doesn't appear in the "from" column. How do I solve this problem?

Badunit, thanks for your reply. I just went into Mail/Preferences/Accounts, "full name" field is filled correctly with my name. This happens to only certain recipients, and not every emails. Sometimes my name shows and sometime it doesn't show. And this only started to occur recently.

  • Since upgrade to Yosemite, whenever I send an Email, the receiver sees it as coming from my wife only in the "From" column regardless of which signature I use. How do I change this?

    I recently upgraded to Yosemite.
When I send an Email, the receiver sees that it comes from my wife in their "from" column
We have separatee signatures that I can chose from and our Email account is identified with both of our names.
How do I change this so that when I send something, the receiver knows it is from me and not from my wife.

It may be that you have more than one outgoing mail account, and you're sending from the wrong one. From the Mail menu bar, select
              Mail ▹ Preferences...
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
              Send new messages from:
    choose
              Account of selected mailbox
Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the mailbox list. Those are saved searches, not actual mailboxes.
If the problem remains, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
              Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
              Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Settings Lookup.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card
    from the menu bar.

  • In the mail list pane, 'From' column shows the first sender in a conversation? How to make that the sender of the last mail in the conversation (by time)?

The first sender in a conversation can be irrelevant after a conversation grows long and I'm more interested in who's active more recently than whoever started the conversation/thread.

@duggabe, Not actually. That would just sort "threads/conversations" by date. The From column would continue to show the first sender for each thread/conversation.

  • Column order in Mail (or From column won't stick)

Not my first post about this, but thought I'd try again. Back in January I was asking if anyone else had the issue where the From column just won't stay on the left side. I like From, Subject, Date, To. But one way or another, the From column jumps over to the left of To. ALL THE TIME.
Anyway, I switched to Entourage and have been using it for 8 months. But I was missing some Apple-gui-goodness and thought I'd try Mail again.
One day has passed, same problem.
So I know there's at least a few of you with this problem, but now my question is this - does not -everyone- have this problem, or just nobody else cares? Do YOU have this issue, and if so, why are you not pulling your hair out?
It's also during research like this when I see just how inaccessible Apple support really is. I've bought Applecare on every Mac I've ever owned, yet I just can't bring myself to spend an hour with someone on the phone with a...uhhh....well, an accent I have trouble understanding. Not to mention the mind-numbing-madness of rebooting, deleting prefs, root user, blah blah blah. I've tried it all.
Maybe I just needed to vent.
I'm going back to Entourage, because Mail is still a POS (it's Junk filtering is basically worthless as well, compared to Entourage, but I'd live with it if the stinking columns would stay put).
But please tell me, how is it that there's not thousands of people screaming and complaining about this? Am I just one of the cursed????? Sigh.
Quadcore G5 2.5Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   ENTOURAGE USER. AGAIN.

JF, I did understand you. It seems you've misunderstood me, though.
    My desired arrangement:
    FROM / SUBJECT / DATE / TO
And that's what I've been using these 4 days without a hitch. My preferred arrangement is this:
    Subject / From / To / Date
move on if you wish, I was kind of hoping for some fresh
    insight - nothing personal
It seems you missed the smiley. I'm willing to figure out what's going on here, and that's the reason I've been trying to reproduce the problem. But I can't, that's all. I'm just wondering whether, according to your observations, I should leave the settings that way a few more days before giving up.
Also note that the -only- other column visible is the 'dot'
column (message status?) that you can't remove anyway.
In my case, I also have visible (both before and after making the change) Flags on the left and Size / Attachments on the right, i.e. my preferred arrangement is this:
    Flags / Read Status / Subject / From / To / Date / Size / Attachments
What I've been using the last 4 days (and am still using) is this:
    Flags / Read Status / From / Subject / Date / To / Size / Attachments
I clicked on the 'Drafts' mailbox, then back to the Inbox
Just tried it. No change. Your preferred arrangement sticks for me no matter what...

  • Contact name does not appear in "from" column, only email appears

I have a contact for which there is an address book entry that contains a physical address, AIM/MSN, and email. However, in my inbox in the "from" column this person's full email address instead of their name appears. When I open the message, the contact's name is correctly displayed in the "from" line. Why is there this discrepancy? How can I fix this?

I have the same problem with Tiger mail. Some, not all, of my Address Book contacts appear with the full email address and not the contact name in my Inbox. If I open the email, the correct contact name then appears. However, if I attempt to reply to this individual using the reply button, the resulting email address that appear in my email message is not accurate and is some corrupted iteration of the correct email address. I have looked at the raw source for these incoming messages and the email address that appears there is fine (just like I have entered in Address Book). Any ideas?? Thanks.

  • How to view email address in "From" column instead of name

When looking at messages in my Junk folder, I would prefer to see the actual email address of the sender in the "From" column, rather then the name. How do I do this?

In outlook, when I input internal user id, it will be converted to email address automaticallyThis conversion in made by Outlook using the Outlook server repository.
Now you're using utl_smtp and you connect directly to the smtp server so who does the conversion?

But he is able to select only those columns which are available in Selection Pane.
How can he fulfill this request

    Hi,

I dont know how your proceeding, the solution i gave will definately work .Here are the steps
1)pull a column into the request criteria
2)rename the name of the column
3)go to formula in f(x) change according to your requirement for example:- quantity*unitprice
    4) run the report and in results you would see the column.
5)From compound layout select column selector and see what you want is getting displayed.

I have the following query in the package that created using sql developer. I am receiving the error 'PLW-07204: conversion away from column type may result in sub-optimal query plan' when try to compile the package. The issue is happen to be in the last line where the date is. Any help? Thanks
    select count(*) into n_cnt

Try doing as a procedure instead of an anonymous block. It looks like warnings do not apply to blocks.

In this case, you can ignore the warning, as it is not correct. Sysdate and a date column have different internal data types (note the type 13 for sysdate and type 12 for the date column), and whatever internally generates the warnings seems to just compare the type number.
    SQL> insert into tmp_order values(sysdate, sysdate);

  • PLW-07202: bind type would result in conversion away from column type

Got this error, "PLW-07202: bind type would result in conversion away from column type", when compiling in the stored procedure editor.
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    procedure test_proc (at_incoming varchar)
    as begin
    insert into test2(itemname) values (substr('1234',1,2));
    end;
The table test2 was created like this:
    CREATE TABLE "DMSCO"."TEST2"
    (     "ITEMNAME" VARCHAR2(30),
         "ITEM2" VARCHAR2(10),
         "ITEMNUM" NUMBER(10,0)
Removed the substr, and it compiles.
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    procedure test_proc (at_incoming varchar)
    as begin
    insert into test2(itemname) values ('1234');
    end;
In sqlplus it compiles fine even with the substr.

PLW-07202: is a warning. There's a bug that it's showing as an error.

  • Alter table type from COLUMN to ROW

TABLE type can be changed from ROW to COLUMN (and vice versa) using the ALTER TABLE command .
    Lars Breddemann  wrote
when considering which data store to choose (which, by the way, can be changed later on as well), you have to take into account:
    * will you usually need the complete row (all columns)? If so, row store may be more efficient, as reconstructing the complete row is one of the most expensive column store operations.
    * will you need to join the row-store table to a column store table? If so, you should avoid using a different storage type, since using both storage engines in a statement leads to intermediate result set materialization which is another name for bad performance.
    * do you want to fill the table with huge amounts of data, that should be aggregated and analysed? If this is the case, the column store is the better option.
As a rule of thumb you may just start with column-store tables and change them to row-store tables when you encounter performance issues.
In general most developers cannot anticipate all important use cases for the tables they design.
This is especially true for living and growing systems.
So, more important than choosing the 'right' storage in the beginning is to monitor the performance and to benchmark the differences when changing the storage engine.
So suppose we have a COLUMN table , but would be requiring to get data from many columns (so would be a very expensive column operation) , would it be advisable to change the table type FROM COLUMN to ROW on the fly . would this be a resource intensive operation if the table has a lot of data ?
Lets suppose , if the above can be done , but there exists a interdependency for the column table (say from another simultaneous operation) , and thus should remain as COLUMN table as such . so what would be the better option in this case .
Creating views is not an option as it seems from the SQL guide , that there was not an option to create a ROW view from a COLUMN table. ?
Edited by: Rajarshi Muhuri on Nov 27, 2011 3:25 AM

    Dear Rajashri,
    1. you cann't alter table from column to row using alter command.
but you can achieve this through Stored procedure, just Little bit HSQL coding.
I hope upcoming versions SAP Gives like following SQL statements  ( following statemnt not works in HANA works in oralce )
       create row table "EFASHION_TUTORIAL"."AAA" as
    select
    "ARTICLE_COLOR_LOOKUP_ID",
    "ARTICLE_ID",
    "COLOR_CODE",
    "ARTICLE_LABEL",
    "COLOR_LABEL",
    "CATEGORY",
    "SALE_PRICE",
    "FAMILY_NAME",
    "FAMILY_CODE"
    from "EFASHION_TUTORIAL"."ARTICLE_COLOR_LOOKUP";
    2. Row & column table two different purpose like OLTP & OLAP.
when you think about OLAP means modeling use Column.
when you think about OLTP means real time operations then use Row
Column table is high compress ( 5 - 20X),  i don't think you want get any performance issue when read information from column table. that is actual Core engine reading parller process. ( that is Heart of HANA).
Column table purpose quite different like calculations, grouping.. most of DW environment Queires.
Row table is currently system tables in feature row tables as OLTP, it's less compress mode compress to column store.
so finally you write small program convert column to row and row to column
    thanks
