FTP - Sender File Adapter - Exactly Once In Order

We are running SP10 on PI7.0
I have a file (FTP - content conversion) to idoc scenario and this works well apart from the communication channel picking up the files in the wrong order.
I have set to Exactly Once In Order, and the nuemrically file is being picked up in the correct order, however we wish to pick the file up by time and date stamp.
If I flag the Adapter Specific Message Attributes - and Source File Time Stamp, will this then process the files by timestamp instead of by File name?
How else can we get the files to process by time created?

but this option is valid for NFS transport protocol

●      Processing Sequence (for transport protocol File System (NFS))
If you used placeholders when specifying the file name, define the processing sequence of the files:
○       By Name: Files are processed alphabetically by file name.
○       By Date: Files are processed according to their time stamp in the file system, starting with the oldest file.

  • Issue while fetching the file through *.extension by FTP sender file adapte

    Hello Experts,
I am facing a issue while fetching the data through sender File adapter with  ' *.file extension' .I am illustarting the scenario as below .
It is a simple scenarion of File to File inboumd scenarion. Here file is getting picked up from a third party system
through FTP sender chanel and stored in a temp folder of PI through NFS rceiver file adapter .
The problem is however I am getting, while picking the file with file name as "*.exo"(where exo is the file extension).
But while fetching the file with particular name like"abcd_10032011*.exo"(file naming has been done by combination of abcd(always same)_currentdate(change according to current date)),file picked successfully .
So here ,in the prior case file not getting picked up,but in later case it dose .
Can anyone please let me know what might be the issue?

    Hi Sunit,
Connect from your PI System to 3rd Party System (where are placed the Source Files)
    FTP <PartySystemHostName>
eg. FTP 10.2.3.456 (then insert Username & Password to Login)
    Go to source directory
    cd \<SourceDirectory>
    eg. cd \donaldduck\directory\
    Execute a File List command
    ls -la *.<extension>
    eg. ls -la *.exo
In this way you should be able to view all files with this extension (*.exo), the same action that Sap XI perform to pickup the file.
Then, try to copy that file to your Local PI System (to check if there're some permissions issue):
    mget <filename>.exo
    eg. mpget File1_01012011.exo

  • Exactly Once In Order ..in File adapter ???

    Hi Xi friends..
in my file to idoc ..
    i am getting files as wear*.xml .
i think , i have  to use Exactly once in Order in Communication Channel  to process multiple files in order starting with wear*.xml
if i select Exactly Once In Order..
i have to give Queue Name..
please tell me which queue name to be given here..
please tell me how to use this Exacly Once in Order option..
    thanks and regards
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
The XI supports Synchronous and Asynchronous delivery; in XI terms, these
are described with a Quality of Service (QoS) descriptor. The XI supports
QoS Best Effort (BE), Exactly-once (EO), and Exactly-once-in-order (EOIO).
These are equivalent to RFC types Synchronous RFC (sRFC), Transactional
RFC (tRFC), and Queued RFC (qRFC), respectively.
    EOIO (Exactly Once In Order):
Messages are delivered with the same queue names (supplied by the application) in the same sequence that they were sent from the sender system. Message processing is asynchronous in this case.
In the case of quality of service BE, an error occurs if more than one receiver is determined for a message. In the case of delivery types EO and EOIO, the message is copied correspondingly and sent to the individual receivers.

  • Using wildcards (*) in sender file adapter - FTP type

    Hi guys!
Dooes it work using wildcards in sender file adapter (FTP type(!) (filesystem obviously work))? I tried it and it failed. it works only for exact name..
I read some articles about FTP and the result is, that ftp work always only with 1 file, so I'm wondering, if this is possible.
    Thanks for info!
    Olian

    Thanks for all replies..
I know of course, that * can be used, I use it in many scenarios too. But on a FileSystem. It is not working if the sender type is FTP.
*, ., *.dat, ...  nothing like that works..  Just exact file name.
I am able to pick up file, if I specify it's exact name, so there should be no problem with permissions..
Please, I'd appreciate one reply with comfirmation: yes, we are using asterisk (*) , we access source files via FTP and they are processed.
Is there anybody with this experience, that it works?
    Thank you!

I have given all required settings to get connected to the FTP Server.
When i give ( Source Directory and Exact File Name ex : MDMERP.xml)
    File gets picked up.

  • Sender File Adapter - remote FTP server program execution

    Hi all,
    I have a scenario
    X12 -> XI -> File
where sender File adapter is used. The input file is X12 txt document which needs to be converted into X12 xml format. I have created astylus studio XSLT mapping which uses Convertor to convert this txt file to X12 XML.
I don't know how to configure sender file adpater to run this mapping on the source file before picking it up. have created a windows batch file on the FTP server which runs tis XSLT mapping on the txt file and replaces it with X12 format xml. This batch file uses command line parameters of stylus studio to run XSLT mapping on input txt file and generates an xml.
I am not sure how to run this mapping on the input file before processing starts in PI file adapater.
I tried running command line parameters of Sender file adapter but that didn't worked.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    -Kulwant

    Hi, Kulwant:
Looks like you would like to execute your mapping program before file adapter pick it up.
Right ? for one interface, it seems out of the XI scope, however if this is your requirement, you can separate into two interfaces:
The first interface is file to file scenario, it is used to execute your mapping program:
The file sender just pick up the txt file, send to integration engine.
Your Message Mapping program need to specify your XSLT mapping, after the mapping, the message is XML format,
then you will use file receiver to send it to certain directory.
Now the XML format file is your input of your second interface.

  • SENDER FILE ADAPTER (FTP) ERROR

    Hi,
Iam getting the following error in sender file adapter:
Could not process due to error: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 *** ERROR *** NO BATCHES FOR TRANSMISSION
Could anyone help me in this.
    Thanks &Regards,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
This problem is not related to PI but rather related to FTP server settings.
Try changing the name of the file in your adapter settings to a string without any dots and ".
Try this and let me know if its successful.

  • Sender File Adapter  not able to get file via FTP from an external system

    Hi,
I have a Sender File Adapter using FTP which polls a server every 10 seconds looking for a file ".xml".  The adapter will connect and pick up the waiting file, but sometimes the adapter not able to get file via FTP from an external system. The file is on the server, but despite the polling, the adapter does not pick up it. There is no return error.
The connect mode is Permanently and the transfer mode is Binary.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks.
    T.

    Hi Teresa,
does this case appears with a file size higher the others?
Personally, I do not recommend to have a polling under 1min.
10s could be too just, if the file is not small and/or if the file server is far (several kilometers) to where the Adapter Engine is, and/or this file server is beside a firewall. Do not forget also that, with previous points, you could have like a conflict, betwen the 1st polling and the 2nd polling, if in less 10s PI adapter has not enough time: to connect to the FTP server (several Km), find the file (perhaps among 100 other files in the directory), go back to the file to Adapter Engine server (several Km again), convert your file to XML message (with a complex Content Conversion), then check the XML structure, and when all that is done, return back to FTP server (several Km), to archive the source file... Well It's my understanding of a FTP exchange with FILE adapter...
If you really need a 10s polling, that's mean your have a pseudo real time interface. In that case, in my mind file should not be used! but we should use a Web service, JDBC JMS (any exchange without a physical object like a file). For me, it's a non-sens to have a file in that case.

  • How to configure Sender File Adapter to pick couples files in order !!

    Hi Folks,
I am really looking for one requirement like, Sender file adapter has to pick multiple files by file name based with some time gap? Can we?
I have got one BPM in this, I have tried with Process mode : Name and Date, with wait step on BPM, but no use. The way how PI behaving, if 40 files in file directory, it is picking all files in one shot. Start processing but not in order.
The problem is on Receiver system side. The receiver system is SNC system, if old data receives later than earlier date data; we get data obsolete application error.
Ex: If I receive 25th and 26th files, first I need to process 25th first on PI sends to SNC, I need to give some time gap and pick another file or even  PI picks and process 26th file, no problem but  I need to give some time gap to send SNC to this 26th date file?
Please how guys, throw me your great ideas
    Thanks in advance!!
    Regards
    San

    @ Sandhya
If there are 40 files , can you please specify how many types of files are ther like say first A type shud be picked then B type then C type and so on so forth ?
LIke in my case I had only three types of files file1 and file 2 file 3
and in the directory also only three  files will be placed at a time
you need to have some logic to separate the type of files in  differnt folders and then  process them
@ farooq yes . it will create problem if 40 files are kept at a time .

  • How to process files one by one using sender file adapter

    Hi,
I have to process file one by one using my file adapter (sender), because while doing the G/R materials get locked, if the same materal exist in other files.
I have maintained QOS as "Exactly Once in Order" & processing Sequence as "by date".
Processing sequence come in which tab? What will be the Queue name?
    Thanks,
    krishna

It will come under Processing tab
Here you need to select the first parameter QOS  as EOIO
Then QUEUE name and processing sequence will be enabled.
NOTE: This will work only for NFS protocol not for FTP.

  • Sender File Adapter - Dynamic Filename?

    Dear All,
I have a simple requirement to retrieve a file named "XXX_ddmmyy" from an FTP site. The FTP site administrator will place a new file everyday. The date is part of the filename.
I can find a lot of information on how to set the Filename for a "Receiver File Adapter", but none about dynamically setting of the filename for a "Sender File Adapter".
    Can you help please?
    Kind Regards
    Farshad

    Hi,
You have mentioned over here that the requirement is to get the file "XXX_ddmmyy" from an FTP site.
Is that site strictly for keeping files related to your requirement only or lot of other files are also being placed???
If its strictly related to your requirement then you can use the filename "*.extension" and set the processing mode as "delete" so that once the File Adapter picks the file it will be automatically deleted.
But here disadvantage is that the file wont be no longer present in FTP site once it is picked by File adapter.
    Thanks,
    Lekshmi.

  • Sender File Adapter Not Showing in Decentral Adapter Engine

    Hi,
We have recently implemented a Decentral Adapter Engine on a windows box. The adapter engine seems to be working fine because my adapters show and seem to work fine in it.
However, when I define a Sender File Adapter that uses File Content Conversion message protocol instead of just File messaeg protocol, the adapter does not show up in the decentral adapter engine.
I made sure that Adapter Engine parameter in the Sender File Adapter shows the new adapter engine but that does not seem to be working. If change the Adapter Enginer parameter to show the Central Adapter Engine, then I can see the Sender File Adapter on the Central Adapter engine and it works fine. (Note: The Central Adapter Engine is installed on a Unix box)
Here are the paramters I defined for the Sender File Adapter:
    - Transport Protocol: File System (NFS)
    - Message Protocol: File Content Conversion
    - Adapter Engine: (new Adapter Name)

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Hi Alaa,
    look into this document:
http://service.sap.com/nw-howtoguides -> Exchange Infrastructure -> Troubleshooting: Adapter Engine 3.0 (Expert Call slides)
If the File Adapter works without conversion, then you should count the number of fields in a row. If it differs from the configuration, then it runs on error.
Another idea is to check the content type of the file. When you do not enter a File Encoding, then the file adapter assumes utf-8. If the file is for example latin-1, then the number of characters in a row are not counted correctly.

    Stefan

  • Sender File Adapter: No Messages

    Hi,
I have configured a sender file adapter to read a flat file using file format conversion, in the file poler mode using NFS. I could confirm that the File is being read, and the adapter status from the Adapter framework (is:port/AdapterFramework) indicates the adapter is working fine (Green light, and last message processed at XXX........).
However, I did not find any messages from SXMB_MONI.
Further, I got inot the RWB, and found the following Audit log:
It indicates an error "Transmitting the message to endpoint http://kansbwul01:50000/sap/xi/engine/entry?action=execute using connection AFW failed, due to: Received HTTP response code 404.."
What is the problem, and how can I resolve it?

    Hi Naveen,
          Do check the following things,
    >>Note : I have been asked to give the Transport Protocol as "NFS" (Whether this is the problem???) I have summarized the complete details below. Please help me
1.If your file resides on your local network/local computer give NFS(Network file system). if your file resides on a FTP location give FTP and also give the FTP log on parameters.
    Additional Parameters
    File_MT.fieldFixedLengths 10,10,5
    File_MT.fieldNames VendorNumber,VendorName,City
    File_MT.fieldSeparator
    File_MT..processFieldNames fromConfiguration
2.If this structure does not match with the input file structure the file adapter wont pick up the file. So check for the help document provided by SAP in the following path.
    help.sap.com  --> Documentation  --> SAPNetWeaver --> SAPNetWeaver '04 --> English --> process integration --> SAP Exchange Infrastructure --> connectivity --> Adapters --> File Adapter
           Your file contains three records
    V123456789 A123456789 Bosto
    V234567890 B123456789 Atlan
    V334587900 C123456789 Austi
You have mentioned the fieldSeperator as space but there is no File_MT.endSeparator '/n'  which differentiates between each and every row (record).
Parameters for Record set Structures mentioned in the sender adapter configuration does not match with the actual file structure .
Try giving exact structures in the configuration of sender file adapter.
