FTP Timeout

Environment - NW 6.5 SP5 eDir 8.7.3.9 with BM 3.8 SP5.
We are trying to download a document from the following site:
ftp://leginfo.public.ca.gov/pub/dail...ar_Session.pdf
We created a general exception in the Firewall for all IPs on our network (we own a Class C range) as follows:
Source Interface: Private
Destination Interface: Public
Packet Type: ftp-pasv-st
Protocol: TCP
Src Port: <All>
Dest Port: 21
Stateful Filtering: Enabled FTP(PASV)
Src Address: Network XXX.XXX.0.0/255.255.0.0
Dest Address: Any Address
When we try to access the file, we get the following error:
Status : 504 Gateway Time-Out
Description : Unable to connect to origin Web server.
Note : If necessary, please contact your Systems Administrator for resolution
Yet when I try from the outside, no problem.
Any Ideas????

This is very strange. When I downed the filters, no problems. When I reloaded the filters no problem. When I unloaded proxy and did a proxy -cc reload, now the link wont open the file.
However, if I enter the following URL:
ftp://leginfo.public.ca.gov/pub/dailyfile/asm/
I can see the files and I can even copy the files to my PC. But if I try to double click on the file, I get the:
Status : 504 Gateway Time-Out
Description : Unable to connect to origin Web server.
Note : If necessary, please contact your Systems Administrator for resolution
error. After I've unloaded Filtsrv and downloaded the file, I'm able to open it again when the Filtsrv reloaded. I've even cleared my cache and deleted offline files. However, if I go to the URL:
ftp://leginfo.public.ca.gov/pub/dailyfile/asm/
and try to open the other PDF file that is there, I get the:
Status : 504 Gateway Time-Out
Description : Unable to connect to origin Web server.
Note : If necessary, please contact your Systems Administrator for resolution
error.

  • File Adapter FTP Timeout

While processing a file with about 2000 messages from a Sender file channel which lasts about 35 minutes we receive an error which points to a time-out parameter:
"Error file:'nnnn': Archiving to file 'nnnn' on FTP server after processing failed with com.sap.aii.adapter.file.FTPEx: Timeout (900 seconds): closing control connection."
Did anyone come across this problem or knows where this parameter is located.
    Thanks for your comments.

    Hi Peter
In your file/ftp adapter configuration, check on 'Advanced Mode'. There you add the entry,
    Name : ftp.timeout
    Value : timeoutsecs

  • Difference between timeout(secs) and advanced parameter ftp.timeout

    Hi experts,
    I have one question:
in sender communication channel, is the same to specify timeout(secs) in FTP connection parameters or to specify ftp.timeout parameter in advanced mode tab?
This is order to solve the problem of "ftp stops polling" solved with below SAP note 1083488.
    Thanks
    Fabio
    Symptom
Sometimes, some of the XI FTP/JDBC sender channels stopped polling
permanently. However this is resolved by re-starting these channels.
    Other terms
FTP sender channels, JDBC sender channels, polling stopped, stopped
    polling, polling adapters.
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Program Error
    Solution
For FTP adapter, please set the appropriate FTP timeout parameter in sender
channel configurations. Existing timeout implementation has a bug while
reading from Input. This patch solves this problem.
Edited by: Fabio Boni on May 18, 2011 5:16 PM

    Hello!
If you don't have the patches mentioned on the note, you must use the advanced tab parameter. Otherwise, you can specify it in the FTP Connection parameters tab.

  • Ftp timeout on leopard server

    hey guys,
i have another issue with leopard server ftp service. users get a timeout and cannot upload files to the end. especially bigger size files.
did you guys ever had/have this problem?
called apple:) that was the funny part:) after waiting about 40 minutes, i got to a guy who is supposed to know something about the leopard server. he had no answer, he just recommended to try out third party software, what i will do as i have no other solution.
i think it is a great shame. no offence, but our company payed a good amount for the xserve. it is frustrating.
    any ideas?

There has been several threads on this subject over the last few weeks and it seems to come down to two points. The FTP server in 10.5 lets anyone that is authorized see all folders, if you don't care about that, but you want them to start off in a specific directory all they need do is add that directory to the ULR, or on specific FTP clients name the start directory. If you want it so users can't see anything other than their own directory you might be better off looking at a stand alone FTP server. What I find unhelpful about this solution is that you have to build a new set of users and groups, which I think defeats the object of running the server in first place. I hope this is something apple will address soon.

  • EA4500 FTP timeout

    Hi people,
I'm having this problem with my Linksys EA4500 and the FTP use.
I connected a WD 1TB hard drive, and created the FTP which works great.
When I'm at my parents, of work I can access folders, and copy files.
But When the files get larger, the copy function will give me a time out.
I guess due to inactivity, even while the file is still copying.
Does anybody know a solution to this? Does the FTP function have a time out set, that I can change like Windows server FTP?
Windows server FTP also has the same problem. Default the time out is set to 30 minutes. But you can change it. And for the router I can't seem to find any option to change the time out?
I hope someone can help me!

When transferring files ftp there is no time out during the transfer.
You are getting disconnected for extended periods during a transfer that is causing the failures.
Usually this is due to low or noisy wireless signal. To test try using ethernet connection for comparison.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • How does TimeOut(Sec) works/ behave in FTP Adapter?

    Hi ,
How does TimeOut(Sec) works/ behave in FTP Adapter?
Lets Say : If I mention 300 Secs in this . How Should it behave ??
if a file processing in adapter is taking more then 300 sec , will it also be  terminated ??? what error response i will get in such case.
    Regards
    Prabhat Sharma.

    Hi,
if there's a network error the channel may hang (for a very long time)
if you specify 300 secs after that time the channel will reset the connection and you can start pooling again

    hi mark,
To configure a timeout for the FTP connection, please enable the "Advanced Mode" for the respective FTP communication channel in the Integration Directory and add an entry "ftp.timeout"=timeoutSecs
(without any quotation marks) to the "Additional Parameters" section, where timeoutSecs is the desired FTP timeout in seconds.

  • Mainframe Integration using File Adapter (FTP Mode):: ftp commands

    Hi,
We are trying to integrate with Mainframe system using File Adapter. (FTP mode). We are able to write the file to Mainframe system but not able to format it properly. We had to provide FTP parameter,  <b>ftp.quote site recfm=fb lrecl=150</b>
As per SAP Note 801926 :: XI 3.0 File Adapter: Additional Parameters, the only parameter that can be used is <b>ftp.timeout</b>. Has anyone tried out using other FTP parameters? (like ftp.quote)
    Any help is grealy appreciated.

I am looking at running some OS commands especially the QUOTE SITE FILENAME, and found this OSS note:
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/841704
    In this note it says...
"Note that for the File Adapter transport protocol "FTP", the operating system command is NOT executed on the FTP server, but on the server hosting the Adapter Engine."

  • IDOC to FTPs performance issue

    Hello everyone,
    I have a scenario BS_A:idoc > xi > BS_B: file via ftps (ftp over ssl/tcp).
For each idoc two different files (content conversion) are created in the same directory.
I therefore have one receiver determination and one interface intermination with 2 inbound interfaces + interface mappings + 2 file receiver adpapters.
I have a performance problem when more than one idocs are created at the same time. First message goes through very fast. The ones after that take there time.
It takes 10 to 30 minutes (and some times more) for 2 idocs to deliver successfully 4 files at the other side.
Note 1: I do not exprience this when i work with normal FTP.
Note 2: I have unchecked the "Maintain at order time" check box in the interface determination. If checked then the QoS is set to EOIO.
Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions.

  • Dreamweaver FTP still doesn't work

So I've been trying to get FTP to work in (Mac) Dreamweaver
-- and I've tried every version since MX 2004. But they all fail.
This problem has been posted in this forum (and many others) in the
past. Whenever you try to connect/test an FTP server, you
    immediately get this exact error:
"An FTP error occurred -- cannot make connection to host."
This error happens instantly. There is nothing to see in the
FTP log. It is not related to any FTP timeouts, firewall settings,
etc. I have stayed at Dreamweaver MX 2004 because it's FTP works
(and continues to work). Every version of Dreamweaver I've tried
since then, CS, CS 2, CS 3, etc. all give this same error. I've
tried deleting ssh_hosts. I've deleted keychains. I've tried
reinstalling. I've deleted preferences. Rebuild site caches. I've
tried different servers, hosts, etc. FTP (with and without all the
Passive, etc. options, SFTP, etc. I've tested FTP/SFTP in other
programs, in the Terminal etc. I've turned off Firewalls, removed
routers, etc. What am I missing?
Why is Dreamweaver MX 2004 the last version able to perform
    FTP operations on our Mac?

Thanks. For what it's worth, I cannot connect to that gov
    site in CS4
either. I'm checking to see if there's any info available for
    this
    problem....

  • Connection timed out error in ftp adapters

    Hi All,
I have integrated two ftp servers by using FTP adapter as sender and receiver.
But the process is not started as it is giving the error ConnectException:Connection timed out.
I applied the note 849089.(ftp.timeout=timeoutSecs) here i have given the value 60 ,but still it is giving the same error.
Please suggest me in this regard.
    Thanks in advance.
    Prasad Nemalikanti

    Hi,
Check the server details and the user credentials for the ftp server you are using and check whether you have provided the correct path in the ftp server.
Also try to login to the ftp server which you have mentioned in CC using the user name and pwd, to chk whether you have the permissions to login to the server.
Also the check whether the folder you are trying to access is having permission for delete/read/write.

the router is configured for NAT overload and working fine, i have site to site VPN tunnel with peer with normal NAT translation. now we need to configure Double NAT on the VPN tunnel as we need to free the subnet on peer network. for double nat i use 3.2.21.x - 3.2.23.x / 24 network and apply following command
    Double NAT translation
ip nat inside source static network 192.168.10.0 3.2.21.0 /24 no-alias

    Solution: Support forums team

I have the same problem also.  Restarting isn't helping and the auto lock/unlock button is on.  Plus a couple of time when I turn it on it is asking if I want to power off.  That is when I push the button on the front to wake it up.  Not the power button on top.  I have an IPAd 2. Worked fine before the update.

  • MTU Size Problem Loading Certain Webpages

    Hello Colleagues,
I'm having a strange problem dealing with MTU sizes and loading certain webpages. I am aware of the default Microsoft MTU of 1500 and also using GRE IPSEC Tunnels recommended at MTU size 1400. I have since manually set some users PC's to MTU of 1400 and most of those users are experiencing no issues. However, there are a few users who still experience website loading issues even though I have manually changed their MTU size to 1400.
These are domain accounts will the same image loads on their machines, so all have the same permissions, rights, firewall settings, etc. They all use the same LAN, switches, and routers.

    UPDATE
I have since applied the following config to the tunnel interfaces:
    ip mtu 1400
    ip tcp adjust-mss 1400
    tunnel path-mtu-discovery
This worked and I was able to reset each users PC to default MTU size of 1500, but only until just now. I got a call from a user who explained that he wasn't able to reach some websites, again.
Sure enough, I've just confirmed that all of the users are unable to access the websites any longer.
This is crazy, does anyone have any ideas?

  • Advanced mode in receiver FILE adapter

    Hi there,
Does anyone of you have a list of aditional parameters to be specified in the receiver FTP communication channel?
The only one i found is ftp.timeout and this is available on my default FTP connetion parameters.
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    David

    Hi David,
Additional parameters are published in SAP Note 801926
    Also Check this one.

  • Sender communication channel - Polling delay?

    Hi experts,
We have a sender CC with polling every 6 seconds (other parameters are: connect mode permanently, ftp.timeout 180).
Yesterday a file has been placed on source server at 00.18.00, but CC picked it up only at 00.19.18.
Anyone knows possible reasons for this delay in polling?
I have checked message monitoring there are no errors or connection problems, simply the start and end message date are 00.19.18 and 00.19.19.
    Other info:
    1) This source server is used also for other interfaces, and in that range of time there is no error, other files have been picked without problems.
    2) I'm pretty sure that time of source server is the same respect to XI server, I've tested that.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have also faced this isses but failed to find any solid reason for the same.
Once i found a reason to the problem is that when the other system is trying to write the file they used temporary file names which goes from 0% completion to 100% completion and after 100% completion the exact file name is reflected. And XI only pick up the file with the exact match(after 100% completed).  So, the XI system try to hit the file multiple times for picking up for processing while the file was written by other system. On multiple hit to the file with the cc, the cc cache refresh problem occurs.
When the cache get refreshed with some other file processing it immediatly try to hit the file and then the file is picked up.
Also, it sometimes happened that the other system tried to write the file with a previous timestamp, the problem might inbetween other system and xilandscape.
    Cheers,
    Jay
