G'ZONE COMMANDO ADVERTISING A SCAM! NO VERIZON SUPPORT ON DESIGN FLAW

Moved for greater exposure

Make sure you dont have it loaded down with apps that are sucking operating ram. And any apps you download make sure to move to your memory card so they arent wasting onboard resources. I can only have a handful of downloaded apps at one time. ALSO, uninstall any 'updates' to any bloatware apps you dont use. You can't transfer those to your sd card like regular downloaded apps and each update sucks more onboard ram. Also remember to disable automatic updating on the Play Store for any apps you dont use. Thirdly, the ONLY antivirus or system tool app I use on my commando is AVAST. Every other one i have tried drags the system down way too much. The name of the game with the commando is MEMORY SPACE. The phone is an awesome handset, and even with its problems I wouldnt ultimately give it up very easily. I mean, what other smart phone on the market lets you take pictures under water?

  • G'Zone Commando powers down on its own?

Two weeks ago I upgraded to my first smartphone.  Due to the work that I do (I'm a fly fishing guide and in the river all the time) I wanted another waterproof and durable phone.  At first this phone was great.  I really enjoy having access to my business email, my business Facebook page, and other apps that are important to my daily business.
However, within the last couple of days my G'Zone Commando has started to randomly shut down and reboot itself.  I have taken it into the local Verizon store and they complete a diagnoistic test on the system and said everything was fine.  They said the test they did should have fixed the issue yet when I got home the phone shut itself down again and then rebooted.
Are there any solutions to fix this issue?  Please help before I decide to return the phone and look into an iPhone (which is nowhere near suited for the business I run).

jprater08, let's wipe your troubles away. Have you downloaded a few 3rd party applications to your device from the Google Play market? Some application software can affect the performance of your device. I recommend that you uninstall a few applications from your device in Settings>Manage Applications>tap the Application>tap Uninstall. Once you have deleted a few applications, you will need to power your device off/on to soft reset it. Keep us posted.

  • I am U.S. iPhone 4S user traveling in China.  Data speed is too slow to be usable.  Verizon says that it because iPhone 4S connects to strongest signal even if slowest.  Any work arounds for this design flaw?

I am U.S. iPhone 4S owner traveling in China.  Data speed is too slow to be usable.  Verizon says that is because iPhone 4S connects to strongest signal, even if slowest (virtually non-existent) data network.  Does anyone know how to work around this design flaw?

I spent 2 months in china with my old iphone 3gs.  Both China Unicomm and China Mobile were accessible through my US phone.  (for you other users, yes my phone bill was sky high, but it's a small price to pay when you get instant access to your wife while you are gone... and to be able to use the google translate app).  I had a GSM phone (obviously) and had the ability to choose what carrier I wanted my phone to connect to (the same thing was available when I was in italy as well).
    it was under
general-> network> then there was a new field (that does not normally show up when in the US) that listed the available networks to connect to.  my phone always attempted china unicomm first, and switched to china mobile only when unicomm was unavailible.
but if wjosten is correct (and i imagine he is), cdma phones may not be able to choose what network to connect to.

  • Does Verizon support J2ME?

We are developing J2ME cell phone based applications for mobile learning and test preparation See
    PowerVocabForGRE2006 at http://www.applimobile.com/
We are running into problems with deploying them on phones from Verizon. I noted that Verizon supports BREW. Does it mean that they have NO SUPPORT for J2ME? Is there an alternate way to get J2ME apps to run on their phones?
Please help! We also have a trial download on our website, so if you wan to try it out on your Verizon phone before replying, that would be awesome. Thanks.

If it support BREW, it does not support J2me! Solution would be:
    1. to port the J2me code to brew
    2. to make BREW wrappers for the J2me code stuff.
And you don't need to spam to aks questions. It works well without all the crap around it ;)

  • Blacklisted IP and no help from Verizon support

According to http://whatismyipaddress.com/blacklist-check my IP is listed with no less than 4 blacklist entities.
My browser was recently prevented from connecting to one of my own client sites (that website's host actually alerted me to this blacklisting), which has since been working, but I have no way of knowing how many other websites might deny access to my IP--or even if my outgoing emails are being denied.
BUT THIS IS NOT AN EMAIL ISSUE. This is a blacklisting issue.
Verizon support via Twitter has been ineffective and pointless:
"Since you have a dynamic IP, we're unable to whitelist your IP at this time. ^JGG"
And Verizon phone support consists of wading through phone menus, waiting 10 minutes to get someone and then listening to them read their script as they fumble around completely and utterly ignorant of what I'm talking about. And then getting disconnected--at least 3 times.
I don't CARE if my IP is "dynamic"; OBVIOUSLY my computer/connection is being IDENTIFIED by an IP that prevented me from visiting that site (and who knows how many others) and, thus, Verizon should be able to erase that from my connection and assign a new [dynamic] one.
All I've gotten so far are excuses, technobabble and stupidity. Anything, that is, but CUSTOMER SERVICE. I pay nearly $100 a month for this **bleep**.

All of Verizon's Dynamic IP's are blacklisted from Email lists.
Somegirl speaks wisely on this issue and is correct, IP's that are blacklisted from websites, are typically a result of an out of date bogon filter, and those filters are maintained by the site hosts not Verizon.   a "work around"  is to simply get a new ip address in a range that your website's host is not blocking.    a long term fix is engaging the site host (not the webmaster) and have them update their bogon filter lists.
The blacklisted email thing, though, if that's the issue, then you can't get around that.
In fact, that's such a common practice that this is what a Company has to say about blacklisted IP's that are Dynamic (this company is not associated with Verizon FYI,  but it shows the industry attitude about dynamic IP's for Email blacklisting)
    http://cbl.abuseat.org/dynamic.html
This IP address is dynamicAs we've mentioned earlier, CBL listings that interfere with legitimate email are almost ALWAYS as a result of virus-infected machines.
The difficulty with dynamic IP addresses is that you may not have had this IP address at the time the virus was infected, so there is nothing you can do to prevent a relisting. Furthermore, the next time you connect, you may well get a new IP address that's already listed.
This situation is particularly common with wireless portals.
So, here the best way to proceed is to avoid having the listing affect you, not remove the listing.
If you have a dynamic IP address, or even just a user of a large ISP, your ISP will have provided you with the name and/or IP address of a mail server you should use to send email. You should put this in your mail reader (or server in some cases) "smart host" or "outbound SMTP server" setting.
Once you do this, you shouldn't be bothered by CBL listings again, and there's no need to delist it.
Even if you could get the CBL to delist it (and we usually do when we're contacted the first time), it's not going to help much in the long run - not only will you likely run into a CBL listing again in the future, other DNSBLs (called "DUL"s) are listing _entire_ dynamic ranges, so the CBL is the least of your problems.
As one example, which we get asked many times about, the DirectWay wireless provider tells their users to set their "outbound SMTP server" to be "smtp.direcway.com". As it turns out, they don't seem to be interested in securing their wireless portal, and supply this to give their users a way around the CBL (and MANY other DNSBL) listings.
Note to ISP staff:The CBL's users expect us to list demonstrably compromised machines. Even if they're dynamic. Do NOT ask us to permanently delist dynamic ranges or any other type of generic end-user pools, because we won't: no exceptions.
The only way you can avoid repeated CBL listings of dynamic IP addresses is to treat the network segment as a NAT'd LAN, and configure your routers to block outbound port 25 from all IP addresses in the range. See NAT information.
It's really pointless to permanently delist dynamic ranges, because "Dialup" DNSBLs (aka "DUL"s) list the whole range anyway.
Solution for email blacklisted customers is different.  configure your machines properly using Verizon's outbound SMTP smtp.verizon.com (ssl and port 465)    you will be subject to their spam policy's with that config, or get a 3rd party SMTP to use.

  • Verizon G'ZOne Commando Problems

I'm on my fourth replacement phone all under factory warranty. One shut its self off after an update and wouldn't turn back on.The first something was wrong with the speaker,The second kept freezing rebooting and dropping calls. I only have  had the Facebook app and maybe 4 songs(songs are on the sd card). I find it funny that when I complained over the phone they said they haven't been reports of other customers experiencing this issue and would not issue a different phone. March can't come fast enough, very rugged phone but too many issues can't wait to upgrade. The refurbished phones seem like their cleaned and then sent back out  you may get rid of one issue but you're going to get 3 new issues.

sapperscott88, this is definitely an unfortunate coincidence. Are you downloading the same 3rd party applications on each replacement device that you've recieved? Some application software can affect the performance of your device. It's recommended that you uninstall a few applications and power your device off/on to soft reset it. Keep us posted. Meanwhile, did you know that you can upgrade to a new device at full retail pricing with this option? http://vz.to/1713STl

  • Scam from Verizon and Asurion?

What is the benefit of having an insurance Asurion on my phone if I have tom pay $99.00 to get the insurance company to ship me a new phone. With the $10.00 monthly charged I have already paid several times the phone itself... it is a gigantic SCAM !!!!
Really disappointed by this kind of service,

Maybe her insurance is like that but there is a maximum co-pay that I must pay per year. For me it is $3000.00 a year and then after that my insurance covers it all 100%.
Health insurance varies. None are 100% the same.
If you pay a monthly premium, let's say I pay $85 per month.
Or roughly $1,000.00 a year. However I pay a co-pay of $20 per doctor visit or a $40 co-Pay max per visit. I have never used that $3,000.00 per year not even close.
When in hospital or doctors office everything is totally covered after I pay a small deductible.
If you have medicare that $3000.00 provision is no longer applied.
You primary insurance covers what ever medicare does not cover and that is the customary 20% if it applied.
It actually is based on what insurance you carry and believe me some as that Walmart one is terrible.
You must shop around. Just like car insurance, or life insurance, home insurance and even cell insurance.
    Good Luck

  • WATCH OUT FOR THIS SCAM FROM VERIZON

I recently used my $50 upgrade credit to purchase a new Samsung Convoy 2 on the verizonwireless website. Website price was $79.99 plus tax. After my credit, my price was $32.69 which I thought was good. Now comes the part where Verizon scams you.
They sent me a DEFECTIVE phone. Trouble with text messaging immediately. After talking to Customer Service, I was told he could not fix the problem but would send me a REPLACEMENT, along with a shipping label to return DEFECTIVE phone. I was told there would be a charge on my bill for the new phone, but a credit for the returned phone resulting in no charge. This was a LIE!!
On my bill was the original charge for $32.69 for the DEFECTIVE phone and a credit for $32.69 since I returned it. There was another charge for $141.69 for my REPLACEMENT phone. So, what I purchased online for $32.69 now cost me $141.69 with nothing new added.
When I complained to Jennifer, a supervisor with Customer Service, I was told since the second phone came from customer service, they couldn't match the website price. How can you not match your own listed price??? How can you justify charging someone 4 times what they originally paid to REPLACE  the DEFECTIVE equipment you sold them in the first place?

    acraftylady wrote:
I don't understand why they charged for a warranty replacement.  My sons phone was defective in the first year and we took it into a verizon store and they had a used one sent right to the house and we were instructed how to send the old one back as soon as we go it and no money was involved.  If they are exchanging a brand new defective phone for same model bought online why would they be charge for a replacement?    Makes me really appreciate how compitent the store is I use, the customer service reps are friendly and know what they are doing.  Mary
I agree. If you were receiving a warranty replacement, you should not have been credited for the return and then charged for a new phone. There should not be any charges at all involved.
This sounds as if it was treated as a return instead of a warranty replacement.

  • Casio G'zone Commando not booting up

Today after charging my phone I attempted to start it. The phone stops booting at the Verizon screen but the graphics are still active despite being unresponsive to all commands even power. I tried the hard reset but it did not initiate at all. I tried three different combinations for. Hard reset from menu button+ Up volume button + power button to vol down and power and nothing is initiating the reset mode. How can I fix this piece of junk?

Let's review options Gillenkr! The alternate reset is the best option to restore the device. Please ensure the device is powered off and press and hold the Power button (located on lower left edge) until the G'zOne logo appears then release.
With the LED illuminated red, press and hold the Power button   Volume down button (located on upper-left edge)   Camera button (located on lower-right edge) simultaneously then release.
The LED illuminates approximately 20-30 seconds after releasing the power button (step 2). The 3-key combination must be pressed within the 1-2 second timeframe that the LED is illuminated. View visuals here http://vz.to/1lT23Ep If unsuccessful please respond to the direct message I will send to review available replacement options. Thank you.

  • Anyone else been scammed by Verizon Sales people?

I'm a new customer and I was told the edge program was the way to go. By paying the phones off per month, I wouldn't have to shell out any money up-front I suppose that's true. They also said my wife could upgrade her iphone 4 to an iphone 5s for 99 cents. They said my monthly bill would be $159 a month. They said I could get 2 verizon tablets for free with the current promotion.
As it turns out my wife's iphone 5s is going to cost me $549. My monthly bill is $270 ($159 plus the monthly cost of 3 new phones) And my free tablets are costing me $20 a month. I've been mislead and lied to. Over the course of 18 months, I'm going to be paying over $1200 more than I should have been. I know much of this falls on me for not reading the fine print, but the way that I was steered into the plan feels wrong. After looking through all my online and physical receipts, I still can't find the total cost of the phones anywhere. I had to call to get that information.
As soon as the 18 months is up, I'll go back to AT&T.

My family's plan had an extra activated phone for my grandmother. My grandmother has Alzheimer's and it began to affect her rapidly over the course of the past two years. She had no need for the line and when we went to go in to discontinue it (because it was up for renewal) the store employee said we could get it taken off if we updated another service. So we got a new tablet for renewal of the old tablet contract, and Bluetooth speaker.
After purchasing these things and going home, waiting a month and getting the bill, we noticed that the line was still on the bill and we had to pay for the line. We went to a local VZW store and after showing them the bill and asking about why they did not take the line off, the employees that helped us said that they have no memory or record of the line being removed. Our phone were not up for contract for another year, so just this week when they became renewed we finally got a line off of our service of having to pay for it for over a year.
We were forced to buy a speaker we didn't want, renew a tablet before its renewal date, AND pay for an entire line for over a year, because the in store customer service is un-trained.
