Gateway P-7805u notebook

I just purchased the Gateway P-7805u notebook. After the first hour of use, the fan began to cycle off and on for just a few seconds then off for 10 minutes or so then cycle again a few times. After a couple of days, now the other fan is doing the same thing. This happens even when the computer is just idling. I looked at the display for this computer quite a long time in the store and it never did this. Is this a problem or just something I just expect from this computer. By the way, there is no excessive heat from the computer at all.

It might be doing that normal, for example, the fan might shut itself off when the computer isnt generating enough heat to require the fan to be in use.
Then it might kick in, cool down what was heating up, and shut itself off.
My HP's fan is always running, but you'll hear it shut off every now and then, and then kick back on right away.
If you are worried about it, if you have a Black Tie protection plan on it, you can take it to a best buy store, and have them to a scan of the comptuers hard ware, to make sure everything is working correctly.
If the fan is faulty, it would show up, as the component it is cooling would show up too hott.

Crysis is one of the most power hungry games ever created. I have seen desktop computers running Dual 9800Gt's come to a crawl when running Crysis with everything maxed out.
Have you googled that Gateway model to see if there are any benchmark test out there?

Most, if not all, computers are going to have some kind of issue. The Asus issue is a minor issue.

CS4 issues with Microsoft Office Small Business 2007? Other apps?

I recently purchased the CS4 upgrade and a new laptop. Last night after nearly 7 hours I finally got it all installed and working correctly. I had the versioncue.dll error which caused most of my pain. Anyway... I've been lurking on the forums since CS3 launched but passed on it due to all the issues I had read about it's installer, finally I felt I needed to take the plunge and upgraded my software (from MX2004 suite). My question is this.
Currently I have a very clean laptop with only:
Kaspersky 2009 and CS4 installed.
I'm looking to install Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 but I have a concern with the Small Business Manager SQL Server. From other post I've seen that the sql servers have conflicted with adobe applications, has anyone had any issues with this or should I be able to install it now without issue. I'm trying to pre-emptivly make sure I don't screw something up and have to install everything again from scratch.
My end goal would be to have: Kaspersky security suite 2009, CS4, MS office Small Business 2007, Paragon back up application. At that point I want to create a restore and if anything happened I'd have the bulk set up easily again.
Does anyone have any other no no's about what does and does not play well with CS4?

320 gb 7200 harddrive - not sure on make

All drivers up to date except the new Nvidia drivers as they are still beta

I should also have mentioned (ask) about the fact that when I first installed I had gotten all the way past the initial installer and to the updates so the suite had already been activated/registered.
After getting the versioncue.dll error it has you remove the suite and many folders pertaining to it. So after I did all that and reinstalled it automatically put my info back in for me (obviously one of the folders it doesn't have you move) and I don't recall it re-registering it again. I'm assuming I am fine with my activations and it only counted it once as it was the same machine with an uninstall/reinstall? Everything seems to be working ok, i'm just curious as to what it actually did? Did it take another activation or no? I'm planning on installing to my desktop as well as soon as I get the board/proc replaced, so i'm just looking down the road for potential issues.

What Use Are These???

Hello (first post). I'm having slight problems with Itunes and my Laptop's Multimeda keys. I've got a 17" Gateway® P-7805u FX laptop(Name copied from website to ensure accuracy) running 64bit-Vista with the the fairly standard media buttons; but when iTunes is operating, they serve no purpose, they're simply dead keys.
If anyone knows how to connect iTunes with the Media Keys, I would greatly appreciate some advice.

It depends on whether the application is using client/server or direct mode connectivity to TimesTen.
For client/server with TTClasses you need:
ttclasses70cs.lib
ttcl70.lib
For direct mode you need:
ttclasses70.lib
ttdv70.lib
tten70.lib
If you want the application to dynamically use client/server or direct mode based on the DSN definition use:
ttclasses70dm.lib
odbc32.lib (Microsoft driver manager library)
Note that there is a significant performance hit in using the driver manager.

Connection Problem: Can connect through Skype but browsers dont' work

Here's the hardware that I'm working on:
Gateway T-6311 Notebook
Intel Core 2 Duo processor
I have set up an Airport utility on the PC and was able to set up wireless connection to the Airport Extreme with no issues. The problem that I now can only connect to the internet through Skype (I am able to receive files and talk to people), but my browsers Firefox and IE are not able to browse the internet. I called my internet provider, and they were not able to help me.
Any suggestions?

Perhaps I should provide a little bit more background. I currently have 2 computers, the first one Dell desktop (has XP) and the second one, brand new Gateway (has Vista Home) that I got a couple of days ago. I have just moved to a new apartment. In the previous apartment I also had a AirPort Extreme and it was working perfectly with my Dell and PowerBook G4. The interesting thing is that now that I moved and got a new provider and a new modem my Dell (which worked perfectly in my previous apartment) as well as my brand new Gateway have the same issue in terms of not being able to connect to the internet via browsers but they are able to use Skype and even use torrent clients to download torrents.
My initial hunch is that the problem lies in the TCP/IP, DHCP, settings. However, I have no idea even where to begin tweaking those settings.

Reader 8 will not allow me to accept or decline license

I've downloaded Reader 8.0 four time in the last day from Adobe.com onto this laptop (Windows XP on a Gateway Pentium 4 notebook, 504 MB RAM) and run into the same problem every time. I get to the point where I must accept or decline the license agreement, and neither button works. The only thing I can do is close the window, so I no longer have a working copy of Reader on this machine.
I tried downloading 8.0 on a desktop machine on the same home network, and it loaded just fine. I turned off the Avast! antivirus program, I cleared the temp directory, I emptied the trash - what should I do next?

Hey getting the same problem but with dreamweaver and photoshop CS3.
Flash and fireworks are fine.
Using windows XP pro. clean install with updates turned on and it is the newest trial of the software.
Tried install/run as different users set up with admin rights. The same downloaded file runs fine on another XP machine, the only difference being the machine working is a laptop with XP home ed plus all the junk they love to put on laptops.
Was thinking of searching for the registry key for the license being accepted and manually putting that in to see if the software would run. Will look into that tomorrow. The fact that it is different adobe products is strange tho.

Gateway Notebook PC stopped connecting to Airport Express

My older Gateway Notebook PC worked fine with the Airport Express until some time in March, 2008. Now, although it goes through the process of trying to connect, it fails to make the connection. The Apple products are working fine.
I see in the forum many threads with this problem, but cannot find one with the problem solved.

I was really hoping that someone would have an idea why my itunes has my base station (airport express) as a choice for speakers, but when I click on that choice it never connects. this connection was fine for several years.

Upgrading to new harddrive on gateway notebook/laptop without any disk

I'm wanting to upgrade to a 1.0 TB WD10JPVX hard drive on my NE56R41U gateway laptop it didn't come with any disk did my back like suppose to do did another systems backup on usb drive I also have everything backup on a 1.0TB WD drive the system came
with windows 8 on ive upgraded to 8.1 via ms and then to 8.1 pro via download version (have so many ?'s )been wanting to make a dvd version of 8.1pro for backup what is needed for installing this new drive without any disk tried using usb drive but
got no where it also was saying drive is locked go unlock it try again can I get pointed in a direction any one want to be a buddy and answer the hundreds of ?'s and yes I know don't buy without a os systems disk ever again

I just would like to confirm with you if you would like backup your system and restore it to the new 1TB harddrive.
If so, check following steps:
Note that this will format and repartition the new disk and restore the volumes contained in the image. This will restore the OS, applications and data contained in the critical volumes (volumes required for Windows to run). You can restore
the data on the other partitions on the disk from a file backup of required data from the old disk. I am assuming you have a file backup of your data as well.
1) Create a System Image backup to the USB drive. When prompted to create a ‘System Repair’ disk, do so.
2) Shutdown the computer and remove the hard drive power and SATA connectors from your original Windows 7 hard drive and any additional internal hard drives.
3) Connect the power and SATA connector to the new hard drive. At this point this should be your only internal hard drive connected to the computer’s motherboard.
4) Boot from the ‘System Repair’ disc.
5) Verify the keyboard input method and click ‘Next’.
6) Select the ‘Restore your computer using a system image that you created’ option located in the lower left and click ‘Next’.
7) A scan for system images that are on your USB drive will begin. At completion of the scan you will have the option to ‘Use the latest available system image’ or ‘Select a system image’. Choose the recommended option and use the latest available system
image and click ‘Next’.
8) Choose additional restore options: Note: The ‘Format and repartition disks’ option will be check marked but disabled/grayed out. Click ‘Next’.
9) The ‘Your computer will be restored from the following system image:’ information will be displayed. Click ‘Finish’.
10) Re-image Your Computer prompt. You will now see a pop up with the following message: All data to be restored will be formatted and replaced with the layout and data in the system image. Are you sure you want to continue? Click ‘Yes’.
11) Windows will now start restoring the image to the new hard drive.
12) At the completion of the image restoration your computer will reboot, sit back and wait for Windows to start and then logon as you normally do, then remove the System Repair disc.
13) You may be prompted to restart the computer to apply changes. Restart the computer.

Gateway fx laptop Model: P-7805u

my nquestion is about thelevel of the two different screen resoultion capabilities that this comes out one is the 1900-2000 and the other i think is the 1440 -900 something i want the higher resolution one but have no idea how to make sure that is what im getting noinfo on the closed box and the store personal had no clue. any hints on how i can insure i get the better one.

After much research I decided to buy the P-7805u laptop. This is my first laptop so just having the ability to move around makes me very happy. I wanted to get the 1900x1200 res. (I hate to know I could have got a better deal but didn't.) When I went to the store, not one sales person knew what I was talking about, so I asked them to do a "functionality" check. They didn't even hesitate, opened the box and allowed me to figure out the res. They truly had no clue what I was looking for. The one I purchased did have the higher screen res. Unfortunately I had several problems within the first week.....screen acting up, static on the screen, not waking up in hibernation mode...... I ended up taking the computer back. Best Buy was amazing with my exchange, I decided I wanted to give another one a try. Of course I went through the same drill, making them open the box, hook it up, run the set up, and check the screen res. The second one was the higher one as well. Just ask for what you want and you will get it. I do have a question for those out there that have this computer, does anyone else have the problem of not being able to get the computer to wake up from hibernation mode? This one did the same thing tonight, I had to take the battery off to get back into the computer to restart the computer. I have until Tuesday to return this one so please answer quickly!!!! Why can't I put Itunes(quicktime 7) on my notebook

I put Itunes(plus quicktime7) on my PC but my PC doesn't have a 2.0 port(1.1). When I tried to put it on my notebook(wireless), I lost a previous version of quicktime and Itunes doesn't load. My notebook has a 2.0 port for recharging. I can't even put an earlier version of quicktime on it. I get a message with rundll32 and web shell. Any ideas? thnaks

Installing QuickTime 7 will replace previous installations, so losing an earlier version is just expected behavior. In the QuickTime FAQ, Aple says "QuickTime 7 will replace QuickTime 6 upon installation."
So far as to why iTunes won't run on your laptop, though, I can't help.

Ext SB card on notebook with XP need Computer speakers

?I have a SB0270 external SB card plugged into?my notebook computer's USB running Windows XP and using Audacity. I'd like to get sound from my computer speakers while recording music thru audacity. I do get sound from the earphone jack on the sound card. I've enabled sound output when recording in Audacity. I can see? via the vu meters in audacity, that the sound is being provided to the output, but ?I can't get sound from the speakers within the notebook computer. How do I turn the notebook speakers on. The minute I disconnect the USB cable to the external sound blaster card, the speakers in the computer work fine. I assume that the Sound Blaster software is turning off the speakers in the notebook. How do I turn them on?

And, you can be certain it's not a Li've! 24-bit. They didn't make them back then! It's either a Li've! 5. (probable) or a Li've! 4. (unlikely if the computer was really manufactured in 2000).
You can try removing anything that was possibly added by your using the cd, then letting XP install its nati've driver for it. I would download DriverCleaner from driverheaven.net. If there's nothing in Add/Remove Programs (as there probably isn't if your attempt to install the cd version of the driver (provided by Gateway?) failed before finishing), then go into device manager and remove anything related to the card and reboot to Safe Mode and run DriverCleaner. Delete the Creative Folder in Program Files that your cd probably made. Reboot and let XP install its driver. Reboot again.
That's probably the best your going to get if Gateway didn't update the Creative software for SP2. You could attempt to install the Li've Uni-Pack stuff from the download section here, but it might or might not work on the OEM card you have. If the software on your Gateway/Creative cd had problems then your probably going to just be able to use the nati've Windows XP driver. You will still be able to adjust your settings with the Windows audio controls, but won't be able to use Creative software.
You would need to contact Gateway to see if they really don't have a package for this. Did you check their website for updates for your model?
