Gateway Service for FM with Importing tables

Hello Experts,
I have a function module which imports around 4 parameters & a table with 4 fields. Since its a table, so there can be more than one entry. So, FM has:
Import Parameters - around 4 fields
Table  Parameters - a table with 4 fields. FM can execute more than one entry
Export Parameters - 3 fields - This is the information FM returns after processing records from import & table parameters
I am confused on how to build GW service for this scenario. I have gone through the GW service generation from FM but how are we going to address importing table parameter? I just need some pointers on how i should approach to build service for such a scenario.

Hello Ron,
Definitely it was inside-out modelling pitfall, but now, after going through your blogs & other such information on SCN, I am feeling better.
I myself prefer code based implementation since it provides lots of flexibility. FM constraint definitely limits the scope improvement.
we are developing a internal application where we are trying to replicate a existing old application which accepts data in adobe forms. Purpose of creation is to give application a UI5 look-feel & use the ODATA way of exposing & consuming services. So, this way we are learning & along the way, improving some internal applications as well. Of course, we are doing this by taking some time out of our PRIMARY work.
Reason why i wanted to use this FM was mainly because it was already available as its already being used in existing application. I was trying to figure out the possibility of using this FM without any logic tweaking.
I was exploring this possibility to create a service by keeping most of the code-related things intact from existing application. But you experts have been such a valuable advisors. I will do it the best way now.
Thanks a lot.

    Hey,
    I'm having the same issue as in this thread.

    And trying to follow the 5 step procedure listed in the 3rd post, but am stuck on step 5, getting the hotfix from Microsoft. The link posted from the Hotfix page is just a generic Microsoft Support page. Which is not helpful. How do I actually contact them
    (phone # or email address) to get the software?
    Thanks In Advance,

    No luck. I've tried the chat which asks which Windows version Im using and there's no Server 2008 only desktop versions. I called and after talking with 3 people I got cut off. There has to be an easier way to get a simple file downloaded.
    You can hire me to do it for you.  I am always successful at contacting MS Support.
    You didn't follow the instructions I  posted.
    Reach us over the phone at 1-800-642-7676 (TTY: 1-800-892-5234)

  • Create a Navigational Hierarchy for filtering with the Table API

    Hello,
    I've built a WAD report acourding to the how to document: "Create a Navigational Hierarchy for filtering with the Table API".
    It works great but i dont know How to make the hirarchey to show the key and the text.
    Please Advice.
    David

    Hi Kenneth,
    please have a look in the source of the executed Web Application. What is inside of the <div> with the id filter?
    You should also find a td tag with id hier_xyz with xyz the filter inside of the <div>-Tag with id filter.
    Also check whether you have a javascript error.
    Have a look on the Javascript function set_style. Perhaps you can paste it here, than I can have a look.

  • Create a Web Service for Exchange with form based authentication ?

    I want to create a Web Service in Apex that can create appointments in my exchange calendar. Exchange is offering web services for that.
    When i try to create the web service reference in Apex i provide the URL and my Exchange login, but it is failing.
    The exchange guys told me, that there is a ISA Server running where i need to authenticate through a form.
    Does anyone know, how i can implement a webservice in Apex, when the access to the wsdl url needs login through a form ?
    Or : what other types of authentication does Apex know ? What possibilities do i have ?
    Thanks for answers.

    Hi
    Presume you've already found this information, but in case not ....
    Exchange 2007 provides out of the box web services, see
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb408417.aspx
    As a disclaimer - neither myself of the team I work with have tried to use these web services within APEX.

  • API services for multiprocessing with Win 8.1

    Which new API services are available for multiprocessing with Windows 8.1 ?
    1. Creating a process ?
    why ? Win 7.1 allocated all available cores for multiprocessing automatically whereas Win 8.1 allocates less
    2. Creating a thread ?
    why ? Win 7.1 allocated cores for thread wheras Win 8.1 lets too many cores to sit idle !

    Hi Noel,
    You are right, seeing is believing.
    However, even if I showed screen snap shots it would prove nothing because the software using Win 8.1 could be wrong / badly designed.
    In this case the latest Linux version utilizes all CPU cores as does the Windows 7.1 professional whereas
    Windows 8.1 performs the same processes and their threads using only part of CPU cores.
    The number of processes created > the number of CPU cores.
    The amount of threads started by a process >  the number of CPU cores.
    Because each process activates threads instead of performing tasks sequentially, several processes/threads should run concurrently and OS should utilize CPU cores efficiently.
    Monitoring tools used: trace proving interprocess communication and application activities,
    Task manager, Logitech (Linux) performance monitor and with Linux its performace tools.
    We'll plan to implement 3D visual trace to complete the current 2D textual and XML trace.
    Seeing the Windows 8.1 program code for process creation and being able to compare that to the corresponding one of Windows 7.1 would show if there are any differences - or could it be the energy saving options ...

    objSimpleValueSetCurr = wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("ctx_attribute");

    We need to use value node and a value attribute inside this node. And retrieve the same. so need help regarding the code changes.

    Hi ,
    I had tried out your suggestion. Its not working.
    The code goes like this, but the data is not getting populated.
    "controller_curr" is the value attribute  under the node "InitTable" in the controller which is further mapped to view controller with the same structure.
    The data is geting printed through the message manager just before the line
    divSMT.put(currency,currency); in this code, at the end.
    But "divSMT.put" is not able to populate the data.

  • How to generate web services for OAS with wsdl extension

    Hi,
    I wanted to know how to generate web services from Oracle Application Server especially with .wsdl extension and with document/literal style.
    I know that earlier there was a tool called SmartConnect from BEA WebLogic.
    But that will work only with ALSB (Aqua logic Service Bus). I guess that ALSB has been renamed as Oracle Service Bus by Oracle after the acquisition of WebLogic. My question is what is the new name for the SmartConnect Tool from WebLogic, which generates wsdl very easily from Oracle database.
    I am unable to know the new name for SmartConnect and how to download that tool from Oracle web site.
    Also, I want to know, whether there is any other way to generate the wsdl from Oracle, if so, please let me know.

  • Looking for components with certain table features

    Hi
    I'm pretty new to JSF. Most of the table components I've found provide sortable headers, but I'm looking for something that lets the user filter what the table shows say by clicking a header and selecting the "only show rows where this value is > 10" option. Is there anything like this out there?
    Also it would be nice to see a list of what tag libraries are out there so I can see what they have to offer. I'm only aware of a few libraries, Trinidad, Tomahawk, and ICE.

    That looks great, probably just what I need! It looks like its incompatible with my setup though. Any others?

  • Import RFC with import table

    Hi,
    We are working on a web dynpro that calls a RFC that has a table as input parameter.
    The possible entries for this table are derived from another RFC.
    In our interface, a user can check these possible entries (CheckBox) thus creating multiple select functionality.
    We manage to create the user interface, but we do not know how to 'connect' of 'bind' the user selected entries to the table (=input parameter).
    Does anyone have suggestions, examples, articles?
    The 'Dynamic UI Generation' tutorial does not answer all our questions.
    Thanks in advance,
    Roelof

    Hi Knibbe,
    It is possible to get the rows/values selected by the user and bind it to the model node. I'm just giving you a pointer/example for doing that.
    <b>/*** Instantiate the RFC which you want **/</b>
    Zb_Pl_Delete_Testproperty_Input delete = new Zb_Pl_Delete_Testproperty_Input();
        wdContext.nodeZb_Pl_Delete_Testproperty_Input().bind(delete);
    <b>/*** iterate through the table in which the user has made multiple entries***/</b>
    for(int i = 0; i < wdContext.nodeCopyOfRequestList().size(); i++ )
    IPrivateProjectPropertiesView.ICopyOfRequestListElement requestElem;
             requestElem = wdContext.nodeCopyOfRequestList().getCopyOfRequestListElementAt(i);
    /*** Check if the row has been seslected (i.e if the check box has been checked)***/
             if(requestElem.getRequestSelected())
                    <b>/*** create a new structure for each of the rows that you want to add to the RFC****/ </b>
                  Zst_Pl_Request request = new Zst_Pl_Request();
    <b>/*** Get the values from the selected row and set to the Structure***/</b>
                  request.setRequest_Num(requestElem.getRequest_Num());
                  request.setStatus(requestElem.getActionForTab1());
                  request.setAppr_By(requestElem.getAppr_By       );
                  request.setSyeng_Id(requestElem.getDelegateTo());
                  request.setCrtd_For(requestElem.getCrtd_For());
    <b>/*** add each structure to the RFC ***/</b>
                  delete.addRequest(request);
    <b>/*** execute the RFC***/</b>
    try
              wdContext.currentZb_Pl_Delete_Testproperty_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
              wdContext.nodeOutput_Delete_Property().invalidate();

              wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().raiseException(e.getMessage(),false);

  • Time-split not allowed for routines with return tables

    I've had this issue a couple of times.  It was usually a date field was incorrect.  I have not made any changes concerning update rules.  Any ideas?
    Thanks everyone!
    -Ryan.

    Hi,
    Normally, the date format is common accross R/3 and BW so as long as it is
    stright forward date value then you won't get any errors.
    else, if you are using date field and trying to assign to a fisacl period or Fiscal year
    then you would have to sub string the date and manipulate accordinly..
    like ex: BUDAT+(6) : 200702
                BUDAT+(4): 2007
                BUDAT+4(2) : 02
    Hope this helps..
    assign points if useful..
    Cheers,
    Pattan.
