Gcc-multilib not found

Hello,
I want to upgrade my system but it fails for two packages from aur lib32-avahi and lib32-libtasn1 because they need the dependency gcc-multilib which I cannot find.
$ yaourt -Syu --aur

any idea ?
Thank you
By the way, is there a way to know if these two packages are a dependency of another one or something ? Because I don't remember why I installed it...

Thank you it seems to work.
I've lots of conflict like
:: binutils-multilib and binutils are in conflict. Remove binutils?
:: gcc-libs-multilib and gcc-libs are in conflict. Remove gcc-libs?
:: gcc-multilib and gcc are in conflict. Remove gcc?
Can I do that safely ?
So if I understand all the packages in multilib repo are to compile 32 packages in 64 bit system. I don't need to do it now so maybe I can just remove these packages...

    Can anyone recommend any solutions, please?

    gcc is in /usr/bin so I would start by looking at my path and seeing if /use/bin is in it.
    Also try typing /usr/bin/gcc and see what response you get.

  • Gcc: command not found problem

    Hi,
    i just full installed cygwin 1.5.5-1 'cause i need to comiple and build a dll so i need to use gcc but in response to this command:
    gcc helloworld.cpp
    i get:
    bash: gcc: command not found
    Is that a windows xp problem or do i have to somehow configure cygwin? I read all the manuals i found but couldn't help.
    Best regards
    Nereida

    Depending on the way you install cygwin, the start for setup.exe is different.
    I will explain the way starting from web:
    http://www.cygwin.com/setup.exe
    You have to choose
    1) Install from Internet
    2) your directory for cygwin like: "D:\Programme\cygwin"
    and the install for all or just for you
    3) choose a local package directory like "D:\Programme\cygwin"
    4) choose the settings to access the web like "Use IE5 Settings"
    5) choose the nearest you download server
    !!! and now the interesting Selection starts: !!!
    A tree of packages is listed you have to click at 6. line (+Devel) at the word Default
    +Devel # Default
    Default should changed to:
    +Devel #  Install
    ...this is already your developer-pack within gcc
    but further you have to go to Libs (line 12) and now click to the '+' -sign:
    + Libs # Default
    The lib tree should now opened.
    go up to the 5. last line at the 6. column "Package" you should read w32api: Win32 API header and library ...
    look back to column 3 "New" there stands Skip click on it [as long] that you see the version number (2.5-1) or any better
    It should help but it is not necessary to click on
    + Doc # Default (line 7)
    so that it changes to
    + Doc # Install.
    so now you can finish your installation!
    I hope it helps

    Hi Keith, thank you for your quick response.
    I installed Xcode via app store and do not recall
    anything about the command line options. So I'm

  • Bash: gcc command not found

    hi,
    I keep on getting this error message. I have installed xcode 3.2
    and it did not solve the problem.
    please help asap.
    Thanks

    I just fell on this forum, I have the same problem: I found gcc: it appears it has been moved during installation of developer tools to the location: /Developer/usr/bin, (from /usr/bin) so I tried to launch gcc by typing the whole path /Developer/usr/bin/gcc, with a source file.c. gcc works now this way, but the trouble is that it doesn't find the #include files, which have probably also been moved in some directory in /Developer/... I also tried by adding the line export PATH=$PATH:/Developer/usr/bin to the file ~/.profile. That cures the necessity to write the whole path for gcc, but not the not finding of the #include. By the way, working in C through Xcode works properly.

  • Gcc 3.3.2 problem:  libgcc_s.so.1 not found

    I am trying to compile a perl module (Math::GMP) on a Solaris 8 platform. We have gcc 3.3.2 installed, and everything appears to go well until I try the following:
    % ldd blib/arch/auto/Math/GMP/GMP.so
        libgmp.so.3 => /usr/local/lib/libgmp.so.3
        libc.so.1 => /usr/lib/libc.so.1
        libgcc_s.so.1 => (file not found)
        libdl.so.1 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.1
        /usr/platform/SUNW,Ultra-5_10/lib/libc_psr.so.1
    I have confirmed that /usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 exists, so I don't understand what is wrong. Any clues?

    It isn't entierly clear if the libgcc_s.so.1 dependancy comes directly from "GMP.so" or indirectly from
    "libgmp.so.3".
    You can check that with the dump command, looking at the recorded "SONAME" dependencies:
    dump -Lv blib/arch/auto/Math/GMP/GMP.so
    and
    dump -Lv /usr/local/lib/libgmp.so.3
    While your looking at the output from "dump", have a look at the recorded runtime shared library path, too.
    (the "RUNPATH" or "RPATH" entries). Apparently one of "GMP.so" or "libgmp.so.3" depends on libgcc_s.so.1
    but does not have it's runtime shared library path set to include "/usr/local/lib".
    The fix is to link the bad shared library with the option "-R /usr/local/lib" (assuming your gcc is configured to
    use the Sun linker).

  • Target not found for some stuff, Multilib enabled and updated

    ------Skipable----
    Hey everyone, I've got a problem that I just can't seem to solve. Basically I have a youtube channel with almost 20,000 subs where I look at different operating systems (not going to mention it's name here since that's advertisement). All my videos feature heavy editing and look at each operating system in a repetitive manner so I decided to do a new side project on a new channel.
    The idea for my new channel/series "Adventures in Arch Linux" is as follows:
    "Adventures in Arch Linux is a series that lets you experience me going from a minimal Arch Linux installation to a bloated installation full of software with heaps of desktop customizations and well... Everything! Everything you see is unscripted, unplanned and uncut. This means that every failure, success and reaction I make throughout the journey will be on camera and captured within each episode. I will be taking suggestions in each episode of what software I should add to arch Linux and try out on camera so you can see my unacted first impressions of all available software for Arch Linux."
    ------End Skipable----
    The issue however I found was that I was constantly running into problems and by the time I finished filming my first 50 minute episode I realized what a mess the video was and feel like I've completely failed. I managed to install LXDE as the desktop environment but I was unable to download and install any screen recorders. I tried typing "sudo pacman -S vokoscreen" but nup, Target not found. I tested and saw that inkscape worked but none of the screen recorders and quite a bit of other software just gave me "Target not found".
    I researched stuff like multilib and enabling that but it still didn't work. I just don't know what to do The first episode (0) is just a disaster (unless you call an arch noob stumbling around trying to figure out how to do stuff in arch without a screen recorder a good video)... I'm at a lose as to what I should do.
    Do any of you know what went wrong? You can see where this error happened a little after 35:10 in this video where I first started talking about installing vokoscreen. (Note that I am really embarrassed about how badly this video turned out): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSCQwCEGrlk

    Hey, welcome to Arch and the forums.  I applaud your willingness to explore Arch.  Giving your mother a base install of arch without anything was just mean   Here are some thoughts that might help with your new video series.
    1. Arch has a bit of a learning curve.  Nothing is setup.  I repeat, nothing is setup.  All packages are vanilla or as close to vanilla.  This means, you will need to restrategize your approach in making a video while you explore.  Why do I say this?  Because most of the time you will be reading the wiki in learning how things work through concept explanations or command explanations.  Your challenge is to capture your unscripted response but make it fun for the viewer.
    2. How about you get your feet wet first.  If you don't understand what the difference is between pulling a package via pacman from the arch repos vs pulling through the AUR (arch user repository), I'm taking a wild guess that your feet are very dry.  Maybe record yourself as you are doing but do some major cutting.  For example, keep all these video journals of yourself setting up your system and at the end you can show off a 'bloated' environment.  Then transition to "it wasn't pretty getting to this phase, here are some scenes of my frustration" and then show where you failed.  I'm just tossing out ideas here.  On a side note, learn how to install packages from AUR manually without a aur helper.  It will help in the long run.
    3. Use the forum search feature as well as reading the wiki.  I'm sure I read some good threads on here that were full of suggestions to new comers in understanding arch.  As a test run, maybe search for it?
    4. Read the forum etiquette and ask smart questions.  Arch is my first full-time distro and boy, I learned heaps from these forum guys/gals.  They are also bad ass when it comes to bad forum etiquette. Rightfully so.
    Edit: added 'gals'.

    And then every time I try to build D programs, I always get this:
    gdc: fatal error: -fuse-linker-plugin, but liblto_plugin.so not found
    Is that happen because I use gcc 4.7.0, or --enable-multilib, or both?
    Previously I built gdc using gcc 4.6.3 and --disable-multilib, and it worked fine.

    I have filed a bug report on this.

  • Libx32-glibc won't install due to gcc-multilib-x32 dependency

    I'm trying to install the libx32-glibc package (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libx32-glibc/) which does not list any dependencies on the package web page. However, when I try to install it, it shows this message:

    ==> Checking runtime dependencies...
    ==> Checking buildtime dependencies...
    ==> Installing missing dependencies...
    [sudo] password for ****:

    ==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies.
    I need libx32-glibc to install gcc-multilib-x32 which gives this message when trying to install:
    $ makepkg -s
    ==> Making package: gcc-multilib-x32 4.8.0_3-1 (****)
    ==> Checking runtime dependencies...
    ==> Checking buildtime dependencies...
    ==> Installing missing dependencies...
    [sudo] password for ****:
    error: target not found: libx32-glibc>=2.17
    ==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies.
    How can I get gcc-multilib-x32 to install? I tried removing the dependency check in the PKGBUILD but that had other issues.

    The circular dependency was made intentionally, it is actually the same circular dependency you can find in the main repo: gcc -> gcc-libs -> glibc -> gcc (make). Because making glibc requires a valid gcc while gcc requires glibc to be functional.
    To build this, you actually need the packages glibc-x32-seed and gcc-x32-seed. Then you can build libx32-glibc to replace glibc-x32-seed, then eventually gcc-multilib-x32 to replace gcc-x32-seed.
    There're more information about this in this thread and this blog post in Chinese.

  • [SOLVED] GCC multilib: cannot find shared library

    Hi,
    I'm trying to compile a systemc program to a 32-bit executable on arch x86_64.  I'm using GCC multilib.  Program compiles fine, but I get the following error when trying to run.
    /home/[myusername]/workspace/systemc_test/Debug/systemc_test: error while loading shared libraries: libsystemc-2.3.1.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    Linker:
    g++ -L/usr/local/systemc/lib-linux -m32 -o "systemc_test" ./main.o -lsystemc
    ls /usr/local/systemc/lib-linux/
    libsystemc-2.3.1.so  libsystemc.a  libsystemc.la  libsystemc.so  pkgconfig
    What am I doing wrong?  For the record, this works fine on Ubuntu (64-bit with multilib) using the same version of the systemc library, compiled and installed in exactly the same manner.
    Thanks!

    Adding /usr/local/systemc/lib-linux to LD_LIBRARY_PATH solves the problem.  I used a script under /etc/profile.d/ to set this at session start, so I now consider this solved.  Out of curiousity, is it possible to avoid having to do this?
