Generate Zip File on the fly
I need to dynamically create a zip file by calling images in
a certain directory. Is there any sort of coldfusion tag (possibly
custom tag) that will allow me to do this? Thanks.
This
custom tag is an example of many found

Compress/zip files from the command line in Windows 7?
In Windows 7 is there a native way to compress or zip files from the command line? I'd like to do it without installing any third-party utilities such as 7Zip.
I fully agree that Compact is not the answer. There are additional concerns with the Compact command. It enables disk compression which is a total no-no. Very bad! It makes your computer very slow and is quite difficult to undo. The only time anyone should
use this command is when they're removing disk compression because someone turned it on to save space. Turning this off has to be done by booting into the recovery console, if my memory serves me correctly, and it's a real nuisance. So
definitely no to the Compact command.
If you wanted to compress files before sending them to another drive, or over a network, or by email, then Compact wouldn't actually help at all because the files have to get uncompressed whenever they're accessed, especially before sending them anywhere.
When I say accessed, I mean that just looking at a file triggers the OS to decompress it in the background and present you with an uncompressed version of it then letting you change it and recompressing it again for storage every single time you access the
file, which is why your machine gets slower. If you have folders or files that have blue text instead of black, then you've probably already made this mistake.
I would also like to know if there is a built-in command for zipping files/directories, or, if there isn't such a thing built into Windows, then I would like to know if this is feature is accessible through Visual Studio, which would be just as good as having
a command-line program for those of us that do a bit of programming.
If anyone knows if MS provides such a feature, either by command-line or through an API, then I'd love to hear about it. Good luck to those of you that have disk compression turn on. -
Can we create a XDP file on the fly
Hi All,
I am new to Live Cycle.
I want to know if we can create an XDP file on the fly and immediately using this XDP file can form server create a PDF?
Need this info urgently..
Thanks in advance.
Regards
VinayThere are several ways to do this. The third chapter in the
cookbook is a good place to start.
All things in ActionScript are based on objects. Constructing
them with the data needed for the ui information you will need and
then binding that data to your dashboard objects is basically what
you are going to be doing.
For me it makes the most sence to have an idea of what
different types of objects you will be creating and create some
extended components for those objects. Then when you recieve your
data, binary or xml, you can digest the configuration settings from
the layout and populate the constructor for each of your
components.
It sounds like you need to organize your layout structure in
a heirarchy and from that you can walk each branch and create each
set of things as you parse your data.
Without a bit more information as to what you are
specifically doing that is about as far as I can go minus adding in
some code along some line that I think might work.
Hope that helps some.

What is the max size of a zip file with the JDK1.5 ?
Hello everybody,
I'm a french student and for a project, I need to create a zip file, but I don't know in advance the number and the size of files to include in my zip.
I wish to know if someone have the answer to my question : what is the max size of a zip file with the JDK1.5 ? I believe that with the JDK1.3, the limit size of a zip was about 2Go, wasn't ?
Thank you for all answer !
Good day !
PS : sorry for my very poor english ;-)Here is all I have found for the moment :
...Okay, what about my suggestion of creating your own 10GB file?
Try this:import java.io.File;
import java.io.RandomAccessFile;
import java.nio.ByteBuffer;
import java.nio.channels.FileChannel;
import java.util.Random;
class Main {
public static void main(String[] args) {
long start = System.currentTimeMillis();
int mbs = 1024;
writeFile("E:/Temp/data/1GB.dat", mbs);
long end = System.currentTimeMillis();
System.out.println("Done writing "+mbs+" MB's to disk in "+
((end-start)/1000)+" seconds.");
private static void writeFile(String fileName, int numMegaBytes) {
try {
int numBytes = numMegaBytes*1024*1024;
File file = new File(fileName);
FileChannel rwChannel =
new RandomAccessFile(file, "rw").getChannel();
ByteBuffer buffer = rwChannel.map(
FileChannel.MapMode.READ_WRITE, 0, numBytes);
Random rand = new Random();
for(int i = 1; i <= numMegaBytes; i++) {
for(int j = 1; j <= 1024; j++) {
byte[] bytes = new byte[1024];
rand.nextBytes(bytes);
buffer.put(bytes);
rwChannel.close();
} catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}On my machine it took me 43 seconds to create a 1GB file, so it shouldn't take too long to create your own 10GB. Then try zipping that file.
Good luck. -
How to process files on the fly instead of uploading them to server ?
Hello,
We are using upload package of oreilly. is there a way to read files on the fly ? We don't want to upload files to server, open them and process them. But processing them on the fly will be faster for us.
thanks in advance...Hello,
If we can upload a file to server by using oreilly's package, there should be a way to read the file after it's POSTED by client's browsers..
If we can do that, we'll not have to do followings:
- Saving file to our server
- Openning this file
- Reading this file sequentially
We want to read file on the fly. isn't it possible ? If not possible, how can oreilly package save files to a directory on our server.
thanks in advance... -
How to generate PNG file to the disk folder by IBOT?
Is there a piece of code in JavaScript on how to generate PNG file to the disk folder by IBOT?
thanks a lotPlease disregard this message. The information below is only semi-accurate. When I get some kinks worked out I'll edit this again. -Bill
FYI,
Don't really know if I'm adding anything useful but here it is. I use NetBeans and I simply added an images folder so now I have my package (deckofcards) and a sub package deckofcards.images.
The image:
back: Image {
url: "{__DIR__}images/B.JPG",
backgroundLoading:true
placeholder:bind placeholder
};works and the value of "{__DIR__}images/B.JPG" becomes
<CARD backUrl="jar:file:/C:/Users/Bill/Documents/NetBeansProjects/DeckOfCards/dist/DeckOfCards.jar!/deckofcards/B.JPG">
...when I marshal. That string (backUrl) will unmarshal correctly and can be use in the url variable to display and image too.

Socket blocking on read operation while uploading zip file to the server
I am trying to upload a zip file to the server
Client thread creates the zip file ( of the modified files) and it even completes writing the data to the socket stream.
Now if the server thread tries to read the same data from the stream, it blocks on read operation.
While downloding the zip file from the server works fine.
Thanks in advanceYou can use the URL object to upload it as multipart/form-data.

Or check out some of the file uploaders out there.

Storing a ZIP file to the database
I have to store a zip file to the database. I used ZipOutputStream to compress the data into the Zip format and then insert into the Database.
This is what i am doing:
java.sql.PreparedStatement pst = null;
GZIPOutputStream out_stream = null;
try
out_stream =
new GZIPOutputStream( new ByteArrayOutputStream( reqdata.length() ) );
FileOutputStream fstr = new FileOutputStream( "file1" );
ObjectOutputStream obst = new ObjectOutputStream( fstr );
obst.writeObject( out_stream );
obst.close();
FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream( "file1");
ObjectInputStream in_stream = new ObjectInputStream(in);
pst.setBinaryStream( 3, in_stream, reqdata.length() );
in_stream.close();
catch( Exception e )
reqdata is the data that i want to store, which i m reading from a file at present.
It fails at obst.writeObject( out_stream ); coz the GZIPOutputStream is not serializable.
This data(ZIP file) has to be again read from the database.
Can someone please help me with this or let me know if there is any other way to do the same
Thanks in advanceJust drop the business with the ObjectOutputStream and ObjectInputStream. They would be unnecessary and time-wasting even if they did work.

PC Suite converts flac music files on the fly to A...
PC Suite 6.86
Nokia 5320
Windows XP
I convert my music to AAC 128 with the Nokia PC Suite App. I drop files by hand onto the application and it converts it correctly.
Now I a have a lot of files encoded in flac format. I KNOW ALREADY that the 5320 does not play flac files.
(and I also know that there is the free app oggplay that plays flac, but because oggplay cannot use the hardware buttons of the Nokia 5320 this is not a solution for me).
But is it possible to have flac files converted on the fly when I drop them onto PC Suite. At the moment it doesn't seem to work so I guess Nokia Suite cannot read flac files to convert them to AAC?
Any way to change this?Just to clarify:
I read the topics about flac on this board and I DO NOT want to add to the flac support questions. I do not need flac files to play on tthe 5320.
All I wanna do is convert the flac files on the fly with Nokia Suite (to AAC or eAAC+ or whatever is supported) and at the moment it seems its not working. So I would like a confirmation if it is not supported for conversion or if I am doing something wrong or maybe my PC Suite version is not the right one.
Thanks again. -
Generating JSP/HTML on the fly
Hi all,
The requirement is to be able to generate HTML files (for UI display) on the fly depending on the database table structure. (Consider an EMPLOYEE table for example, an output HTML file needs to be generated based on the fields present in this table).
To store data (config data) regarding this HTML file (in terms of field names, field types, attributes, etc.) what is suggested is to use an XML file which would have these, then a java file would read these from the XML and give out an other XML which would contain the actual data that will go in to the HTML (such as if the original XML conf. file contained a select statement for a LOV field, then the java file would fetch these and put them inthe final XML file) and so on.. and then have an other XSLT file with the appropriate layout to generate the final HTML.
Could any one else suggest an alternative technique?
Thanks and much appreciated.read your XML file to a "org.w3c.dom.Document" structure (see the example: http://www.developerfusion.com/show/2064/), then use an XSLT to show the Document in HTML frormat.
// doc is an instance object of org.w3c.dom.Document
File stylesheet = new File("style.xsl");
StreamSource stylesource = new StreamSource(stylesheet);
File datafile = new File("results.html");
try {
// Use a Transformer for output
TransformerFactory tFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
Transformer transformer = tFactory.newTransformer(stylesource);
DOMSource source = new DOMSource(doc);
StreamResult result = new StreamResult(datafile);
transformer.transform(source, result);
catch (TransformerConfigurationException tce) {
// Error generated by the parser
System.out.println ("\n** Transformer Factory error");
System.out.println(" " + tce.getMessage() );
// Use the contained exception, if any
Throwable x = tce;
if (tce.getException() != null)
x = tce.getException();
x.printStackTrace();
catch (TransformerException te) {
// Error generated by the parser
System.out.println ("\n** Transformation error");
System.out.println(" " + te.getMessage() );
// Use the contained exception, if any
Throwable x = te;

Hello Experts,
Is there a way to generate an .ZIP file within a Step in B1if?
Basically I need to generata an ZIP file with documents created in B1if Step.
Thanks in advance.
PierreThanks to Maria Trinidad from SAP I had what I want and I'm ready to share.
Here's how I made it work:
Generate your file/s
Read your file/s with a GetFile atom (in my case PDFs, so I use bin as Payload Type)
xsl:copy the GetFile payload into the predecessor of the StoreFile atom
Here is my Processing Flow:
GetFile atom details:
the xform (atom2.xsl) transformation:
<xsl:template name="transform">
<bfa:io pltype="zip">
<bfa:zipentry
entryname="test.pdf" dataset="" group="" docname="" alias="" pltype="bin" properties="">
<xsl:copy-of select="/vpf:Msg/vpf:Body/vpf:Payload[./@id='atom3']/bfa:io" />
</bfa:zipentry>
</bfa:io>
</xsl:template>
StoreFile atom details:
et Voilà I've got a freshly new test0000.zip file containing test.pdf in my c:/tmp directory.
This scenario step is not performing like a flash because of bin to char conversion so use your precautions, anyway it did the work fine for me.
Thanks again Maria for helpful info, hope this can help.

Generate & Export PDF on the fly without holding entire pdf contents memory
Hello Everyone,
We are using Crystal Reports JRC (in our server side application. In a typical use-case the generated report is exported into the pdf format and streamed to the client/browser.
My question is with regards to the current interface/implementation of the JRC export api(s), which returns an InputStream which is basically a ByteArrayInputStream?, Why ByteArrayInputStream ? why not a custom InputStream imeplementation which really benefits from the streaming approach, and give you the option to stream the contents as they are generated on the fly, instead of it holding the entire report contents in a byte-array, as is the case with using ByteArrayInputStream. Since, this often seems to choke our system with regards to memory footprint, when the generated report contains huge dataset.
Please comment? Is that not possible ? Is there any reason why ByteArrayInputStream is the only way to retrieve the report contents ?
