Generic extraction- creation of data source

hi gurus,
I am creating a customized table which has both quantity and currency fields.
i have given both the reference fields as well.
Here the reference table used for quantity is ekko and the field is meins.
and the reference table used for currency is ekpo and the field is waers.
i have no problem in saving and activating the table.
now while creating the data source in the maintain generc data sources i get the following error.
Use the template structure to create a view or DDIC structure that does not contain the inadmissable fields.
can any one help me...

Add MEINS and WAERS field in the customized table for example ZTABLE and for Quantity field mention ZTABLE as reference table and reference field as MEINS same for WAERS.

Difference bw the data staging of generic and appli specefic data sources

Hi,
Can anyone tell the difference between data staging of generic and appl specific data sources. Like we know that LO data stage in queued delta, update queue and BW delta queue, i want to know actually where the generic data stages before it is loaded into BW.

Generic data sources are based on either a DB table/view, a function module or an ABAP query. So normally the data stages in the corresponding DB tables or you calculate it at extraction time. There is no update queue like in LO.

Error while creation of data source

hi
iam creating generic data source using function module.
i inserted the function module and structure name,
when i press the save button, it is throwingerror message as Units field WAERS for field ANSWT of DataSource ZEQUIP_DS is hidden.
please guide me how can i overcome this

Hi Anil
ANSWT needs Units which is a mandatory field for a datasource, in the extraction structure itself so you should insert WAERS and assign it to ANSWT, this will solve the problem when you save the datasource in RSO2.

How to modify the Generic Delta in Standard Data Source...?

Hi BW Guru's,
We have one issue like all values are coming from customer master data data source 0CUST_COMPC_ATTR which is delta capable. Recently the functional guys done some modification on customer by remapping the field to sales rep. this will be impact on collector field (this is generic field - ZZ field). Now there will be frequent changes for collector field and the delta is not able to pick up the changed values in to BW system.
I have tried in different ways but not resolved finally i got some clue which as follows:
Data source 0CUST_COMPC_ATTR shows delta process as 'E' Unspecific Delta
Using Extractor (Not ODS-capable) in RSA2.
Now i would like to change the option to delta process to D unspecified delta using delta queue (not ODS-capable).
Can any one give advice me on this. Your help will be appreciated.

I am sorry for not mentioning the module on which i am working.
I am working on FI-CO extraction. I heard that In FI-CO the delta queue does not support because it won't support V3 Delta mechanism.
But any how i will try with ROOSOURCE and let you know the status of it.
If any advices please revert back with suitable suggestions.

Generic Extraction creation

HI All,
I want to extract data from two tables from CRM(Z tables).
When I goto RSO2 to create a generic data source it is giving me the options of Extract from View,Extract from Info Set and Extract BY FM.
But when I select Extraction from View it is giving me an option to select from one table only.
HOw can I extract data from two tables?

Data from multiple data sources which are logically related and technicall have the same key can be combined into single record.
For example, if you have Sales order item and sales order item status .
These both have the same key - sales order and item and are logically related.
The Sales order item - provides information on Sales order item - material , price, quantity, plant etc.
The item status - povides information on delivery status, billing status, rejection status....
These are two different data sources 2LIS_!1_VAITM ad 2LIS_11_VASTI.
In case you have few master data attributes coming from different systems ie tow data sources in different systems say completely defines your master data. Then you could use a DSO or infoobject to combine the records.
If you want to see aggregated data you use a cube.
ie say you want to analyzae the customer revenue on a particular material and a particular project.
The project details would come from Project syatem and Sales details fom sales flow.
The data is then combined in the DSO with key cutomer and sales area say.
Then it is aggregated at cube level...by not using sales order in the cube model...so all sales order of the same customer would add while loading the cube.. to give direct customer spend values for your sales area at aggregated level.

Delta Extraction from 0ASSET_AFAB data source

Hi All,
I reinstalled the data source 0ASSET_AFAB_ATTR and 0ASSET_AFAB_TEXT data sources for delta feature.
When i tried to extract the delta its gave the error message RSM 340 ( full and delta init was successful).
I implemented the OSS notes 599896 ,613273 but no luck.
Could you please kindly help me if some one already successfully extracting the delta from this data source.
( Full load is killing our production system its taking more than 90 min to finish)
Its seems this data source supports delta type "AIE" .
Could you please some body put some light on this.

Hello Martin,
the error is pointing to a problem on the source system. So you have to look in R/3. Run the extractor checker in R/3 using transaction RSA3.
It took me a while to figure this one out. Here are the steps you should follow:
1) In R/3 activate the BAdi FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE in transaction SE19 if it is not active.
2) Now run a delta init (with data transfer!) for 0ASSET_ATTR_TEXT (and not 0ASSET_AFAB_TEXT).
3) Once this is successful, do a delta init for 0ASSET_AFAB_ATTR again with data transfer.
4) Now you can load 0ASSET_AFAB_TEXT and finally the 0FI_AA* transaction data. Also the deltas for the master data should work now.

Do you want to create a global datasource or one for a specific J2EE application?
For a global datasource, you can use the "admin.jar" file.
Type the following command for more details:
java -jar admin.jar -helpOne of the options is "-installDataSource".
You should be able to launch "admin.jar" from an "ant" script (I think -- I don't use "ant").
Sorry, I don't remember how to set up a datasource for a specific application.
(And I'm too lazy to search for it for you, now :-)

Data extraction from transctional data source

In bw 3.5 I am fetching data from r3 , vendor evolution(2LIS_02_S013) is name of that data source it is transaction type data source at that time data source(2LIS_02_S013) successfully replicate in bw
after it i make infoarea and its charactics and attribute and then create application component and create infosource but when i assign that data source to my infosource it can't show in pop-up or say i am unable to assign it
can anybody tel me why i am unable to assign transactional data source to my infosource

Ok what does it say when you try to assign InfoSource? Can you tell me more.
In the InfoSource Just on top of Transfer Structure there should be Assign DS Button click on this and assign DataSource or else Right Click on the DS and Assign InfoSource.(If you have IS created)

SUN TEAM URGENT: auto creation of data source, connection pool, ...etc

to the sun team,
i have been using NB+VWP to deploy an application created in JSCU2 to a Sun App Server 9.
for some reason, whenever am viewing a DB connection in the servers window and drag-drop a table on the page, the system is automatically creating a new data source, a new conneciton pool, and new jdbc resource. also, it is removing the necessary references in web.xml and sun-web.xml.
is there any way to get around this? otherwise, i am forced to modify the jdbc settings in the server as well as the config file each i drag-drop a DB table/view.

Errors occurred during the extraction for CFM data sources in RSA3

Hi Friends,
               When i try to execute the datasource's in Extractor Checker (RSA3) using the datasources given below:

         I'm getting the error message saying that "Errors occurred during the extraction"
          This is my frist error and the the second error what i'm having is:

         It is asking "Portfolio Hierarchy" in RSA3 selections, even though i've activated portfolio hierarchy, i can't able to get that hierarchy in Extractor Checker Selections (RSA3), unless i get that hierarchy, i can't be able to excute any datasource in extractor checker.

My requirement is to develop a Generic Extractor based on Function Module (Delta capable). As I already found many threads explaining this concept, but most of them discussing FM RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE with Extraction Method F2. There is another FM RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA which, one can use to build delta enabled extractor.
Although I do have some doubts:
what is the E_T_SOURCE_STRUCTURE_NAME ?
read table i_t_select into l_s_select with key fieldnm = 'PGMID'. Use of this code ?

Table R00SGEMDLM stores the date and time data was last extracted from a data source.
Alternatively, you can also try using the i_updmode.

                                           CPUTIME GE   lw_time.
These are just suggestions. Try these out, I hope it helps.

SM37 - "pause" V3-update job while importing data source and extract struct

Hi
Insted of deleting an hourly schedulated V3-update job and the recreating it (after a import of a extract structure and a data source) I came to think about whether it is possible to, kind of, pause the job that I otherwise would delete and recreate.
Is this possible some how?
My thought:
1. Find the job in released status.
2. Select the job and change it (top menu Job-->change)
3. Change the scheduling to some day in the future
4. Change job status from released to scheduled
5. Import the extract structure and data source.
6. Change the schedule job back to hourly run.
7. Now the job should run on hourly basis again....
By the way: what do I import first, the data source or the extract structure?
