Get the column names of a query (in own plugin)
Hi,
I'm developing my first plugin. It is a region plugin where the plugin-user passes a sql query as the source that the plugin will turn into a formated report.
I found how to retreive the query result by using APEX_PLUGIN_UTIL.GET_DATA functions. Since it is an array, it is simple to cycle through the data rows. But how can i figure out
1) how many columns the query returns
2) whats the name of the columns is?
Thanks a lot in advance for any hint...
Cheers, HansHi Hans,
the package APEX_PLUGIN_UTIL provides everything you need. No need to do your own DBMS_SQL handling!
Have a look at the API documentation and the example of GET_DATA at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21676/apex_plugin_util.htm#BABFBIJD
The t_column_value_list record type is a two dimensional array defined as
type t_column_value_list is table of wwv_flow_global.vc_arr2 index by pls_integer;The first array contains an entry for each column.
l_column_value_list.COUNTcan be used to get the number of columns.
l_column_value_list(1).COUNTcan be used to get the number of rows. An example to iterate over all columns and rows:
for l_column in 1 .. l_column_value_list.count loop
for l_row in 1 .. l_column_value_list(l_column).count loop
sys.htp.p('column#=' || l_column || ' row=' || l_row || ' value: ' || l_column_value_list(l_column)(l_row));
end loop;
end loop;If you need the name of the columns and maybe the original data type and not everything converted to VARCHAR2 you have to use the more sophisticated GET_DATA2. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21676/apex_plugin_util.htm#BABFJHAI
This function returns the record type t_column_value_list2 which is defined as
type t_value is record (
varchar2_value varchar2(32767),
number_value number,
date_value date,
timestamp_value timestamp,
timestamp_tz_value timestamp with time zone,
timestamp_ltz_value timestamp with local time zone,
interval_y2m_value interval year to month,
interval_d2s_value interval day to second,
blob_value blob,
bfile_value bfile,
clob_value clob );
type t_value_list is table of t_value index by pls_integer;
type t_column_values is record (
name varchar2(32767),
data_type varchar2(20), /* use c_data_type_* constants to compare */
value_list t_value_list );
type t_column_value_list2 is table of t_column_values index by pls_integer;Again, it's some kind of two dimensional array. The first dimensions are the columns. But this time you also get some details of the parsed column. For example:
for l_column in 1 .. l_column_value_list2.COUNT loop
sys.htp.p('Column Name: ' || l_column_value_list2(l_column).name || ' Data Type: ' || l_column_value_list2(l_column).data_type );
end loop;Will return you all the columns of the SQL statement. Using "name" and "data_type" you can get the column name and the data type. To access the values you can use
for l_column in 1 .. l_column_value_list2.COUNT loop
sys.htp.p('Column Name: ' || l_column_value_list2(l_column).name || ' Data Type: ' || l_column_value_list2(l_column).data_type );
for l_rows in 1 .. l_column_value_list2(l_column).value_list.COUNT loop
sys.htp.p(
'row=' || l_row || ' value: ' ||
apex_plugin_util.get_value_as_varchar2 (
p_data_type => l_column_value_list2(l_column).data_type,
p_value => l_column_value_list2(l_column).value_list(l_row) );
end loop;
end loop;I used apex_plugin_util.get_value_as_varchar2 to always get a VARCHAR2, independent of the actual data type of the column. If you need the original data type, use "number_value", ... of the t_value record type.
Hope that gives you a direction
Patrick

Getting new column while executing the query
Hi Experts,
i have query Dispatches on 0sd_c03, in query designer Grade(char) has draged into columns and it has only one key figure Quantity, whenever i am trying to exucte this report i am getting one more column that is named NOT ASSIGNED, this column getting figures from the before column.
what is the problem, how can solve,
pl help to do this.
thanks in advance,
venkatHi,
You are getting this value NOT ASSIGNED because the field does not have any value. it does not indicate any error but it says, the value has NULL VALUE.. first of all, try to find out if the null value is correct.
If so, in the selection, you can exclude NOT ASSIGNED values. which will give you required value.
Hope this helps you.

How to get more column space in CR XI
Hi All,
What do i need to do in order to increase the work space in Crystal. My report has around 80 columns that needs to be fitted in one page.
With my current settings I have MO Live Meeting document writer as a default printer but it can accomodate only 36" (width) of work space , that is about 50 columns.
Pls let me know how can i increase the work space to have those 80 columns.
ThanksHere is what I do when I need to do an extremely wide report (for a data extract for example...)
#1) Go to Control Panel > Printer and Faxes
#2) File > Server Properties
#3) Place a check in the "Create a new form" box and enter a name for new page size.
#4) In the lower section... "Form description (measurements)" set the width & height properties to whatever you need. (200in X 200in seems to be the max that virtual printers will knowledge.)
I have a 200 X 200 that works with the Microsoft XPS Document Writer and Acrobat.

DATEXPORT exporting more columns
I am trying to use the DATAEXPORT command to export data from a cube and having issues on retricting the number of columns in the out put.
For example I only want to see 5 months of data( the period dimension is a dense dimension . The other dense dimension I have is the account dimension, and all other dimensions are sparse) but I am getting more columns. It looks like if there's a block it displays the data and if there isn't a block it doesn't show the data
Here's the sample script and output. How can I always have the same number of columns in the output
As you can see sometimes there are more columns for the periods and sometimes less.I would like to always have 5 columns for the data
DATAEXPORTOVERWRITEFILE ON;
DataExportDimHeader OFF;
DataExportLevel all;
DataExportDynamicCalc OFF;
DATAEXPORTCOLFORMAT ON;

"USD","Global","FY2011","BudPrStat2","TOTAL_PRE","STRUCTURED CREDIT","AR",#Mi,#Mi,#Mi,#Mi,#Mi,#Mi,6249800166.20698Thanks Amit for the feedback. I was able play with the Dataexport options and come to a conclusion.
Since I am using DataExportLevel All, and DataExportDynamicCalc off we cannot restrict the number of columns for periods , and it will show all period members, and to make sure we have same number of columns on each record we need to add DataExportRelationalFile ON;( the FIX has no effect to it)
So here are 2 possible solutions
1. If you want to show only specific periods, then you need to use , but can only show level 0
DATAEXPORTOVERWRITEFILE ON;
DataExportRelationalFile ON;
DataExportLevel LEVEL0;
DataExportDynamicCalc OFF;
2. In my case I use the following options, but it will show all periods. Just need to change the table to accomodate the new columns
DataExportLevel All;
DataExportDynamicCalc OFF;
DATAEXPORTOVERWRITEFILE ON;
DataExportRelationalFile ON;
DataExportLevel LEVEL0;

Getting error "Column is not indexed " when executing query on ORACLE 10g
Hi all,

query:
select xmlelement("nexml:result",xmlattributes('http://namespaces.nextance.com/nex/xml' as "xmlns:nexml"),xmlelement("nexml:value",count(*))).getClobVal()
from "permission"
where ( ((contains(object_value,'(searchDocument) inpath(/permission/action)') > 0)) and ((existsNode(object_value,'/permission[resource/resourcekey/@type[. = "document"]]') = 1)) and ((contains(object_value,'(GeneralUser) inpath(/permission/principal/@name)') > 0)) and ((existsNode(object_value,'/permission[principal/@type[. = "group"]]') = 1)) and ((existsNode(object_value,'/permission[type[. = "allow"]]') = 1)) and ((contains(object_value,'(nexip) inpath(/permission/resource/resourcekey/field/@value)') > 0) or (contains(object_value,'(Corporate) inpath(/permission/resource/resourcekey/field/@value)') > 0) or (contains(object_value,'(ProcurementAgreement) inpath(/permission/resource/resourcekey/field/@value)') > 0) or (contains(object_value,'(Procurement) inpath(/permission/resource/resourcekey/field/@value)') > 0) or (contains(object_value,'(SalesAgreement) inpath(/permission/resource/resourcekey/field/@value)') > 0)) )
Then after checking some forum, i replaced "contains" with "ora:contains" and executed the query. Now im not getting the first error but got a new error "invalid relational operator"
So please help me in resolving the errors?
Thanks in advance.Anil kumar wrote:

Hi,
I have one group by query which has joins of 2 tables and also the joining columns has indexes.
But the query takes quite time to get the output.
Is there any way to get the output of group by clause faster.
The query is given below
SELECT a.description,a.type_of_item,a.item_type_id ,b.city_code,COUNT(1)
FROM PPBS_ITEM_MASTER a,PPBS_INV_SIM_SERIAL b
WHERE b.item_type_id = a.item_type_id
AND b.status='AA'
GROUP BY a.description,a.type_of_item,a.item_type_id ,b.city_code
KumarDid you do some explain plan and possibly tkprof on the query to see what it is doing?
what is the explan plan?
tkprof output?
what optimizer is in use?
are stats gathered? if yes, how?
how many rows are in base tables?
how many rows do you get from the query?
how many rows are matching the condition b.status = 'AA' ?
you can replace that COUNT(1) with a COUNT(*) without any loss of performance. -

Getting the column names dynamically
hi gurus,
i have list item populated with many table names from a schema.
i have grid in oracle forms 10g and i want to fill the grid with the data that should come at least four/more columns.
i want to fire the list change trigger when each time any one table name is selected/changed.
how can i get the column names dynamically
please give me the step by step process
for filling the grid..hi ,
by getting column names dynamically i am creating a record group
using this below query
SELECT COLUMN_NAME, DATA_TYPE FROM USER_TAB_COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME = <table_name>
but when timestamp datatype is there then it is showing error cannot create group groupname
but the record group is running successful on varchar2,number,date dayatypes
if any alternative is there i mean to say without using record group then tell me or where is the problem -
"median count" in a single group by query
Hallo following problem:
i use a single group by query to analyze a data table.
like "select avg(parameter1), sum(parameter2), count(case when...end) from datatable where ....".

In the example:
LOT1 has two slot, with only 1 step instead of 5 --> these slots should not be counted --> result 23
LOT2 has one slot, with 4 instead of 3 --> this slot is ok and should be counted --> result 25
as previously mentioned, i want to count all slots, which got at least the median amount of steps [edit: slot -1 should also not be counted]
LOT1:
SELECT
sum(CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN parameter1 END) parameter1,
min(CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN EndTime END) first_time,
max(CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN EndTime END) last_time,
sum(CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN parameter6 END) parameter6,
CASE WHEN count(DISTINCT CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN SLOT END) > 0 AND ROUND(count(DISTINCT CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN SLOT||STEP END)/count(DISTINCT CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN SLOT END)) > 0 THEN FLOOR(count(DISTINCT CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN SLOT||STEP END)/ROUND(count(DISTINCT CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN SLOT||STEP END)/count(DISTINCT CASE WHEN SLOT != -1 THEN SLOT END))) ELSE NULL END num_slots,
sum(CASE WHEN SLOT = -1 THEN parameter1 END) minusone_parameter1,
min(CASE WHEN SLOT = -1 THEN EndTime END) minusone_first_time,
max(CASE WHEN SLOT = -1 THEN EndTime END) minusone_last_time,
sum(CASE WHEN SLOT = -1 THEN parameter6 END) minusone_parameter6,
count(CASE WHEN SLOT = -1 THEN 1 END) num_minusone
FROM
datatable
WHERE
tool = 'TOOL1'
AND lotid = 'LOT1';
PARAMETER1 FIRST_TIME LAST_TIME PARAMETER6 *NUM_SLOTS* MINUSONE_PARAMETER1 MINUSONE_FIRST_TIME MINUSONE_LAST_TIME MINUSONE_PARAMETER6 NUM_MINUSONE
423 02.02.12 13:51:28 02.02.12 15:13:41 0 *23* 46 02.02.12 14:20:35 02.02.12 15:18:47 0 5 this is the desired result
same query with Lot2:
PARAMETER1 FIRST_TIME LAST_TIME PARAMETER6 *NUM_SLOTS* MINUSONE_PARAMETER1 MINUSONE_FIRST_TIME MINUSONE_LAST_TIME MINUSONE_PARAMETER6 NUM_MINUSONE
506 24.02.12 03:00:47 24.02.12 04:03:24 0 *25* 1 24.02.12 03:19:26 24.02.12 03:19:26 0 1 so right now i get the desired results with this ugly query... but with combinations of several different conditions - e.g. several slots with more steps and a few with less... - it may not work.

HI Experts,
Can any one help me to add two more column for standard report that is purchase order and delivery dates for Internal order wise.
But here problem is when i checked with ABAP team they said there is no standard functional module to add two column.
Please note below :
Selection criteria is: 1) controlling area
2) Fiscal Year
3) From date and To date
4) Plan Version
5) Order Group.
My client suggested : S_ALR_87012993 this tcode to run, but we suggested with S_ALR_87013019 as in this tcode we can get all the details
That is required output fields, as it is showing all details but on yearly basis, he wants this to be period wise and also Abap team is not able to find standard functional module in the second tcode as well.
Out Put fields to Pop up
1) Orders.
2) Budget
3) Actual
4) commitment
5) Alloted
6) Available
These are two additional column
7)Purchase order
8) Delivery date.
Require your help to know which all tables are included to extract above out put fields please help me.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
SudeshHi Preeti,
Thanks for reply, can you please let me know is there any other way to show the output fields.
As my client is very specific to run the report on period wise, i also tried to execute the standard tcode S_ALR_87013019 and were we are getting all the required outputs to pop up but this is on year wise, but we can also check by period basis by clicking on order number and actual period basis where we can see period basis.
Also one more question,what is the commitment table which is popping up in this, please advise.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sudesh -
