Get YYYY-MM-DD from date

How do I get only the YYYY-MM-DD part of a date column? For example I only want to get the '2007-01-01' out of '2007-01-01 9:12:12' what function can I use?

Of course it does depend what you want to do with your date.
If it's just for display purposes then TO_CHAR is fine. However if you still want to process with the date and time after displaying then you want to hold onto the initial time information so TRUNC or TO_CHAR are not ideal.
Setting the NLS_DATE_FORMAT for the session will display the date in one format whilst maintaining the time portion internally for calculations.

  • Get month and year from date type

    Hi all,
    I need to get the month and year from the date type.
    For example select to_date('2011-01-17', 'yyyy-mm-dd') from dual;Result needed:
    01-2011Any ideas?
    thanks in advance,
    Bahchevanov.

    Hello Bahchevanov,
    if you need the date to compute something, then you can
    TRUNC(SYSDATE,'mm')This will give you a date with the days removed -> 01.01.2011

  • How to get a time part from Date datatype

    Hi,
    I would like to know how to extract the timestamp alone from DATE datatype? If my input is '27-SEP-2011 23:59:00' I need the output as 23:59:00. I am surprised to see that there are no in-built functions for this or may be I am wrong. Basically I need to remove the date part from DATE data type and get the time.Please assist.

    Hi,
    I would like to know how to extract the timestamp alone from DATE datatype? Be careful! In Oracle, TIMESTAMP means a datatype, similar to but distinct from DATE. You'll avoid confusion if you don't use the word "timestamp" to mean anything else.
    There is a built-in function, TO_CHAR:
    TO_CHAR (dt_col, 'HH24:MI:SS')Depending on how you plan to use the time, TRUNC is another handy built-in function:
    dt_col - TRUNC (dt_col)is a NUMBER (not less than 0, but less than 1) which is suitable for many tasks, such as finding the average time.
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables, and also post the results you want from that data.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using.

  • Getting 100-200ms latency from data rec'd to program action. Any ideas?

    We are trying to isolate an apparent 100-200ms latency from data xmitted to NI485/4 and program response. Using win2k with virtually no CPU being used. Code appears to be well written and has system priority. We have Intel D845GBV2 board and have three PCI cards, NI485/4, Data xlation 3153, and I/O card.
    I suspect PCI problems. The NI 485/4 works fine except for latency and installation shows no problems except for memory address conflict between each of the four ports, however I suspect this is not a problem as all four ports are on the same card.
    Any suggestions?

    Chris,
    Thanks for the fast reply. I reloaded the driver (but did not physically remove card as of yet; system is installed in cabinet and not easily accessed). System shows card working properly under "Device Manager"; no exclamation points or other symbols show up on the ports. However, when I right-click and check properties| resources tab for any one of the used ports (three in my case)it shows the memory address as also being used by the other two active ports. I appear to be unable to change the memory I/O at this screen as settings are grayed out.
    If you can confirm this is not a good situation, I will investigate further. Thanks again

    Hi its a structure, it doesnt store data.
    Take it from the table specified,
    Pass STAMID,STAMNO,STAPA1,STAPA2,STAPA3,STAPA4 to function module MESSAGE_PREPARE and you will get the message text.

  • Getting Record Count From Date Range - IDE: PLSQL Developer

    I would like to count the number of member records that fall within a specified date range based on the members effective and expiration dates and their 'elg_code'. I have posted the SQL for some sample data. What I would like to see returned is three columns of counts where the members eff_date exp_date fall within the date range specified by the SQL and have an Elg_code of ' ' (one blank space).
    So, what I would like is all members with elg_code ' ' where there eff_dt and exp_dt range falls within APR 2012, MAY 2012 & JUN 2012. So, based on the sample data I posted, Mark, where his elg_code record is ' ', his eff_dt is 1/1/2011 and his exp_dt is within APR 2012 (4/30/2012). Mark's range falls within APR 2012, but not MAY or JUNE of 2012. Marty would tally for both APR and MAY since his eff_dt is before MAY 2012 and his exp is within MAY 2012. etc..
    Based on the data below, the results should look like:
    APR MAY JUN
    4 3 2
    APR should have FRANK, MARK, MARTY, MARY,
    MAY should have FRANK, MARTY, MARY
    JUN should have FRANK and MARY
    NOAM and JEAN should not show up as their records with elg_code ' ' do not have eff_dt and exp_dt records that fall within APR-JUN 2012.
    So what I tried without success as it appears I have some kind of Cartesian issue (?), is:
    select count(m1.mbr_name) APR,
    count(m2.mbr_name) MAY,
    count(m3.mbr_name) JUN
    from mbr2 m1,
    mbr2 m2,
    mbr2 m3
    where m1.eff_dt < '01-may-2012'
    and m1.exp_dt > '01-apr-2012'
    and m1.elg_code = ' '
    and m2.eff_dt < '01-jun-2012'
    and m2.exp_dt > '01-may-2012'
    and m2.elg_code = ' '
    and m3.eff_dt < '01-jul-2012'
    and m3.exp_dt > '01-jun-2012'
    and m3.elg_code = ' '

    Hi,
    Here's one way:
    WITH     all_months     AS
         SELECT     LEVEL                         AS month_num
         ,     ADD_MONTHS (first_month, LEVEL - 1)     AS month_begin
         ,     ADD_MONTHS (first_month, LEVEL)           AS next_month_begin
         FROM     (
                   SELECT  TO_DATE ('04-01-2012', 'MM-DD-YYYY')     AS first_month
                   ,     TO_DATE ('06-01-2012', 'MM-DD-YYYY')     AS last_month
                   FROM     dual
         CONNECT BY     level     <= 1 + MONTHS_BETWEEN (last_month, first_month)
    SELECT    COUNT (CASE WHEN month_num = 1 THEN 1 END)     AS month_1
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN month_num = 2 THEN 1 END)     AS month_2
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN month_num = 3 THEN 1 END)     AS month_3
    FROM       all_months  a
    JOIN       mbr2        m  ON  a.month_begin       <= m.exp_dt
                            AND a.next_month_begin      >  m.eff_dt
    WHERE     m.elg_code      = ' '
    ;This assumes you know how many months will be in the output. If you want to derive that from the data, or to give the columns meaningful aliases (such as APR-2011 instead of MONTH_1), then you'll need dynamic SQL (to get separate columns for each month) or string aggregation (if you don't mind one big VARCHAR2 column, formatted to look like several columns). See {message:id=3527823}
    If you don't mind modifying the query a little every time you run it, you can hard-code the number of columns and the month names. In the main query, put exactly as many lines as you need, with the alias you want at the end. That is, instead of
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN month_num = 2 THEN 1 END)     AS month_2say
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN month_num = 2 THEN 1 END)     AS may_2012I'm not sure exactly what the problem was with the query you posted. It looks like this site cut off parts of the query.
    One thing that is definitely a mistake is that you're comparing DATE columns to VARCHAR2 literals. Never compare a DATE to a VARCHAR2; compare DATEs to DATEs (or compare VARCHAR2s to VARCHAR2s). So instead of
    and m1.exp_dt > '01-apr-2012'you should say
    and m1.exp_dt > TO_DATE ('01-apr-2012', 'dd-mon-yyyy')Thanks for posting the CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements; that's very helpful.

  • Compound date (dd.MM.yyyy HH:mm) from two input fields

    Hi,
    I need to compound a date field in format dd.MM.yyyy HH:mm from two input fields(date and time field). I was trying a lot but could not get it to work. So right now I'm trying to start it simple but still have a couple of problems.
    1.) To start easy I wanted to fill a hardcoded date into my field.
    setAttribute(MYDATE, "01.01.2005 12:10");
    brings (java.lang.IllegalArgumentException) Timestamp format must be yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.fffffffff
    2.) setAttributeInternal(MYDATE, "01.01.2005 12:10");
    brings JBO-27018: AttrSetValException Cause: The type of attribute value provided as an argument to the set() method for this attribute is not an instance of the Java type that this attribute expects.
    3.) The thing that I reall need is something like:
    DateFormat sim = new SimpleDateFormat("dd.MM.yyyy HH:mm");
    java.util.Date datum = new java.util.Date();
    try
    datum = sim.parse("01.01.2005 12:30");
    } catch (ParseException e)
    setAttributeInternal(MYDATE, datum);
    but right now this also ends with the JBO-27018
    I also did try different types (timestamp and date) in my entity object and different format masks. Not working at all. All the threads I found are pointing to articles from Steve, which are not available anymore (the links don't work). So any help is appreciated.
    Regards, Peter

    Thankyou for the hint. I get it to work with
    public void whatever
    DateFormat simple = new SimpleDateFormat("dd.MM.yyyy HH:mm");
    java.util.Date javaDate = new java.util.Date();
    try
    javaDate = simple.parse("01.01.2005 12:30");
    } catch (ParseException e)
    java.sql.Timestamp sqlDate = new java.sql.Timestamp(javaDate.getTime());
    oracle.jbo.domain.Date nowDate = new oracle.jbo.domain.Date(sqlDate);
    setAttributeInternal(MYDATE, nowDate);
    but is there an easier and more 'beautiful' way to do this? Like using a date formatter on oracle.jbo.domain.Date instead using the SimpleDateFormat? btw. did I mention that I'm a Forms and PL/SQL programmer ;-)

  • Data is not getting updated in R3 from CRM

    Hi All,
               I have a small query pertaining to CRM Middleware.
    We have extended the standard scenario using EEWB for sending few customer fields thru CUSTOMER_H. This is assigned to the adapter in R3AC1.
    The data is getting populated in the structure correctly. But the problem is that the Z* field is not getting updated in R3. The more strange thing is that it is getting overwritten in CRM by data from R3.
    I have checked the problem and found out that the updateflag for z* field is missing. But the problem is that I donot know, how to populate the update flag for the field.
    Is there any customization or setting in EEWB for updating the flag?
    Please help... Please let me know if u want more informaiton.
    Thanks
    Sanu

    Sanu,
    The reason for R3 data getting overwritten in CRM is because the BSS_CENTI has a blank record
    and BSS_CENTIX structure might have a X indicator within BAPIMTCS structures.
    BSS_CENTI holds central data for the customer and BSS_CENTIX holds the change flags for the fields in central data.
    To fix this issue, you have to use CRM table SMOFSUBINT and configure a custom function module which basically yanks the 2 structures from BAPIMTCS table.
    Note:- You do this ONLY if you don't want custom fields from ECC to update CRM. Otherwise you have to make sure the BSS_CENTI and BSS_CENTIX structures are consistent in CRM and ECC.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to configure a Data Driven Subscription which get multi-value parameters from one column of a database table?

    Introduction
    In SQL Server Reporting Services, we can define a mapping between the fields that are returned in the query to specific delivery options and to report parameters in a data-driven subscription.
    For a report with a parameter (such as YEAR) that allow multiple values, when creating a data-driven subscription, how can we pass a record like below to show correct data (data for year 2012, 2013 and 2014).
    EmailAddress                             Parameter
    Comment
    [email protected]              2012,2013,2014               NULL
    In this article, I will demonstrate how to configure a Data Driven Subscription which get multi-value parameters from one column of a database table
    Workaround
    Generally, if we pass the “Parameter” column to report directly in the step 5 when creating data-driven subscription.
    The value “2012,2013,2014” will be regarded as a single value, Reporting Services will use “2012,2013,2014” to filter data. However, there are no any records that YEAR filed equal to “2012,2013,2014”, and we will get an error when the subscription executed
    on the log. (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles)
    Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.InvalidReportParameterException: Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'Name' is not a valid value.
    This means that there is no such a value on parameter’s available value list, this is an invalid parameter value. If we change the parameter records like below.
    EmailAddress                        Parameter             Comment
    [email protected]         2012                     NULL
    [email protected]         2013                     NULL
    [email protected]         2014                     NULL
    In this case, Reporting Services will generate 3 reports for one data-driven subscription. Each report for only one year which cannot fit the requirement obviously.
    Currently, there is no a solution to solve this issue. The workaround for it is that create two report, one is used for view report for end users, another one is used for create data-driven subscription.
    On the report that used create data-driven subscription, uncheck “Allow multiple values” option for the parameter, do not specify and available values and default values for this parameter. Then change the Filter
    From
    Expression:[ParameterName]
    Operator   :In
    Value         :[@ParameterName]
    To
    Expression:[ParameterName]
    Operator   :In
    Value         :Split(Parameters!ParameterName.Value,",")
    In this case, we can specify a value like "2012,2013,2014" from database to the data-driven subscription.
    Applies to
    Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
    Microsoft SQL Server 2012

    For every Auftrag, there are multiple Position entries.
    Rest of the blocks don't seems to have any relation.
    So you can check this code to see how internal table lt_str is built whose first 3 fields have data contained in Auftrag, and next 3 fields have Position data. The structure is flat, assuming that every Position record is related to preceding Auftrag.
