GetConnection just times out??

Question

i have the following method:
   private HttpConnection getConnection(String paramString) throws IOException {
         if (paramString != null) {
           url += paramString;
           System.out.println (url);
         HttpConnection conn = (HttpConnection)Connector.open(url, Connector.READ_WRITE);
         return conn;
    }i have checked the URL it is accessible but a reference to the connection is never returned it seems to just time out ??
and heres how i'm accessing it:
String paramString = "?param1="+ username +"&param2="+password+"&action="+"login";
                HttpConnection hc = getConnection(paramString);
               hc.setRequestMethod( HttpConnection.GET );
               hc.setRequestProperty("User-Agent","Profile/MIDP-1.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0" );
               hc.setRequestProperty("Content-Language", "en-US" );
               hc.setRequestProperty("Accept", "text/plain" );
               sendData(hc);it just times out and i never get a response after HttpConnection hc = getConnection(paramString); URL is:
private String url = "http://localhost:80/BCP1

Me three, US.  I've tried multiple times all day.  I have gotten my app to validate once but then it failed on upload.  It is failing via application loader and xcode.
Are people filing radars?
