Getting audio to work on Compaq SR1520NX

I'm trying to get audio working on a Compaq SR1520NX.
The audio device is AC97, and should be SIS7012 chipset. Linux had no problems with this, and appeared to use the snd-intel8x0 driver.
With Solaris 10 1106, prtconf identifies the audio device as pci103c,2a05 and includes pci1039,7012 in the compatible list.
I've tried using the audio810 driver, as well as the audioi810 (both 1.8 and 1.9beta) drivers, all without success. I've added a driver alias for the pci103c,2a05 to audio810, and then to audioi810, and confirmed the correct entry showed up in /etc/driver_aliases. I did a reboot after each change.
In /var/adm/messages, I see something along the lines of:
pci: [ID 370704 kern.info] PCI-device: pci103c,2a05@2,7,
audioi8100
genunix: [ID 936769 kern.info] audioi8100 is /pci@0,0/pci103c,2a05@2,7
audioi810: [ID 916902 kern.info] PCI-device: pci103c,2a05, audioi8100, SiS7012 (rev. 0xa0) at irq 10
unix: [ID 954099 kern.info] NOTICE: IRQ18 is being shared by drivers with different interrupt levels.
This may result in reduced system performance.
audioi810: [ID 216691 kern.info] AC97: primary codec, rev. 2.3, vendor id1:0x414c,id2:0x4780, 20-bit DAC, 18-bit ADC, 3D-stereo mode 0, aux 4CH_OUT
audioi810: [ID 885429 kern.info] AC97: extid 0x09c7, powerdown status 0x000f
with the only difference being audio810 or audioi810. I don't know what is on IRQ18, but the sound car is reporting irq 10, so I don't think that is related. I'm wondering if I need to so something to initialize the card.
I figure I am missing something very simple and basic, probably "enable sound" or something silly, but so far the solution has eluded me.
Anyone have any suggestions on getting this sound card working?
Thanks,
Greg

The same problem on a similar machine: a Compaq Presario with AMD64, chipset SIS760 and Realtek AC97 audio, also identified as pci103c,2a05. And also the message "no audio device".
I installed the drivers from tools.de with the excellent instructions in http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/content/submitted/audio_driver.html
The installation 'was succesful', but after the reboot there was no change at all. I installed the opensource driver with the same result.
I tried to couple the device in driver_aliases with all kinds of drivers: audio810, audioi810, audiovia8233, audiovia823x, all without succes. I tried also with the method as described in http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/features/techtips/assign_device_to_driver.jsp
but update_drv 'failed to update driver', and devfsadm 'failed to attach'.
In /var/adm/messages no trace of the device, only missing drivers for the sound of the camera.
Just like Greg I have the impression that the solution must be something very simple. Finally it is a quite current card. Any suggestion to get it working? Tnx

  • Can't get audio to work on my Panasonic Plasma smart TV when I connect a Toslink optical mini to Toslink optical digital to my mid 2009 MacBook pro?

My MAc book pro 5.5 is mid 2009, Processor speed 2.26 GHZ MacOS X VERSION 10.68 Leopard. My Tv is a Panasonic Plasma smart TV TC-P50ST60. I ordered from Amazon a Toslink optical mini to Toslink optical digital cable meant for Macbook pro 2009 forward. I changed the settings on both TV and Mac but I still can't get audio to work on TV. I believe my Mac can't see the audio output from the TV. Any advice with step by step instructions on how to fix it? could it be they sent me defective cables? Thank You for your help.

When I spoke with Apple I made sure I told them that my Macbook Pro was Mid 2009 and he ensured me again that those to cords will work. I realize that with the newer models it does put through both sound and audio but because of my model I don't think it does obviously because I have played with both Sound on my computer and Sound on the TV and nothing works. Sometime Apple can be good but man some people lol he even told me he verified my computer model on the computer and that's what came up.
So new question would be what kind of cable would I be looking for to get audio? Anyone before I call back to Apple and see what they say hahah

  • Upgrading to Boot camp 3 to get audio to work

I have a Macbook running Windows 7 and Leopard and the audio will not play on the Windows side. After some reading, I see that I need to upgrade to Bootcamp 3.0 in order to get audio to work in Windows 7. However, this does not appear to be an available download.
    1. Can 3.0 be downloaded from somewhere?
    2. If not, will simply upgrading to Snow Leopard correct this problem?
    Thanks.

If your audio is handled by RealTek, then you have to go to their site and grab the latest Realtek audio driver.
You do not want to disable.
    Uninstall or rollback, maybe.

  • Can't get audio to work for HD DVD

Anyone have any insight into what audio enoding works for HD DVD? I've tried both aiff and ac-3 to go along with MPEG2 video and my Toshiba HD A2 won't play back sound from either type. Help!

I have used both on the Toshiba A2. I assume the build file had sound when you tested it in the Apple DVD Player?
I have not played with the audio settings much on the Toshiba, do not know if there is a setting there that can change things.
I can take a look and run some tests to see if I can get it happening. Also if you like I can put together a small project to see if you can also get it to run.

  • Have to kill pulseaudio after boot the get audio to work

I have a Logitech G35 USB Headset and I have this annoying problem where I have to kill pulseaudio with "pulseaudio -k" to get it to work for most apps.
Audio only works right after boot in a few apps, like VLC and Firefox with Flash Player (e.g. youtube). But for most other apps, like Chrome, Amarok, Spotify, etc. I have to kill pulseaudio first.
I've read the wiki up and down, my USB headset is set as default audio device and I have no external speakers I user.

I think something is wrong with my pulseaudio, but I'm unable to fix it. I'd appreciate any hints and leads! Thanks

Try moving to a backup folder any pulseaudio related .desktop files from the '/etc/xdg/autostart/' folder and reboot see if you still have to kill pulseaudio still.

  • How to get audio to work on tv from computer

Ok so i just bought this desktop. I want to hook it up to the tv so i got the DVI-D to HDMI cable and i also hooked up the audio cable (the one with the red and white plugs on the end) as the instruction in the tv manual said It didn't say anything about the setting it just said to make sure it was hooked into HDMI2 which i did. But i still can't get audio to play on the tv. I even checked the enable/disable devices in the sound option its only the one thing and it says its enabled. I'm not sure what else to do. I got the DVI-D to HDMI and audio cable because i didn't want to have to install an hdmi port (also idk if it would have enought space for one) Am I missing something? this is the link for the desktop i bought. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-slimline-desktop-intel-pentium-4gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-black/7117169.p?id=1219668751581&skuId=7117169&cmp=RMX

Hi, HDMI carries sound but DVI does not carry sound. You need another cable from line out or headphones to your TV OR you can use something like:     http://www.walmart.com/ip/Startech-DVI-to-HDMI-Video-Converter-with-Audio-Universal/19339016    http://www.walmart.com/ip/DVI-R-L-Stereo-Audio-to-HDMI-Converter/40500619    http://www.svideo.com/dviaudio2hdmi.html Regards.

I am unable to get exact driver for the below Device ID
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30CD&REV_1000
which should be connexant smart audio 221.
I ahve installed the UAA driver, but not able to get exact dirver for xp 64 bit. All the drivers availble on net seem to be off vista/xp -32 bit.
    Please help

It is really hard to find 64bit driver
There is one has similar issue.

  • Cant Get AUDIO to work on my TV

Hi - I am connecting my mac mini to my TV. I have a jack in the headphone hole at the back of the mac mini and the red/white leads in the back of the TV in the Audio in. But nothing.
In Preferences I can see that there is no TV in the Audio Output list.
    Where am I going wrong?

Check your TV manual - there may be some settings you need to adjust. I connected my Mini via
DVI->HDMI cable and, at first, had no sound either. I then checked my owners guide (my TV is a 42" Toshiba HDTV) and found that I had to plug in the audio cables in a specific spot (labeled HDMI/PC audio) and set up the sound within the HDMI settings.

  • How do I get the audio to work for YouTube and other videos?

How do I get audio to work for YouTube in Facebook and other videos as we'll?

    Hello, Olubabi
Thank you for the question.  I'm assuming you are not receiving any sound from applications when playing video/audio content.  If this is the case, the first thing I would check is if the side switch is set to silent as this can cause applications to be mute.  Below I have included an article that covers adjusting the  settings for the side switch.  Also, make sure to close all applications in Multitasking and power cycle the device.  Test the sound issue after processing these steps.

  • How do I get audio from MacBook Pro to Samsung monitor?

MacBook Pro - I've just bought an S27b550V Samsung monitor to connect to the MacBook Pro but even with hdmi adaptor and usb connection can only get video. I set sound control to recognise the usb output but still nothing but a faint muted sound from the monitor. How do I get audio to work?

I don't think that a USB connection is going to do anything - as you've a Mac with a Mini DisplayPort that, I don't believe, will carry audio over HDMI, you'd need to use the 3.5-mm analog/optical combo jack optical jack to get video to your Samsung monitor.

  • In Photoshop CC timeline, when I add an audio track photoshop CC either quits working or it skips to the end of the video clip.  If I just put in audio it works fine.  If I just put in clips or pics it works fine, but now when audio is added

When I try to use the timeline portion of photoshop, I can't get the audio to work with my clips.  I can get audio to work fine when using just audio, but the minute I try to add audio to a set of clips either photoshop quits working or it skips to the last clip in my show.  I don't understand why this happens.  I am using the same track each time.  Very frustrating.

    1. In Garageband preferences, click the Audio/MIDI tab and make sure whatever you are using for an audio input is selected.
    2. When you want to hear or record a real audio track, click the "i" on the lower right of the window, and make sure you've selected the appropriate input source for that track.
    3. Still in the "i" pane, to hear it, make sure the Monitor is On.

  • Problem getting audio on a W540

Hi all I have been having some problems getting audio to work on my brand new W540. I have tried everything in terms of driver-updates, bios-updates, software-updates, registry cleaning (cc cleaner), removal and re-installation of drivers, etc. etc. but I am stuck with a little red cross on my speaker icon and the message "No audio output device is installed". I know this to be wrong though because at times I will have sound for a couple of days and then the little red cross pops back on. So I know that the sound works. It seems to be more of a software issue.  Currently I am getting a warning that the "DDP UMDF Driver" is deactivated. A bit of googling around tells me that this means the driver (which happens to be an audio driver) is malfunctioning and should be re-installed, but all help as to how that can be done seizes to exist online past this point.  Can anyone help me with this problem? I'd hate to have to send the laptop back in for maintenance because I am very dependent on it and because it works well in all other respects.  Cheers Jakob

Having retried reinstalling with the recovery discs I was reminded what my problem was. I can't seem to get the system to boot up from the discs. Following the instructions from this link:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht075445#win8_1 I go into the boot sequence and change it so that the external DVD drive (and anything that remotely sounds like it could be an external DVD drive) is on top (See below), but when I save and restart the computer simply restarts into windows instead of starting the recovery process with the discs. What am I doing wrong?

  • Can't get Audio to play through when importing using iMovie '09

Anyone know how to get audio to work when importing DV footage into iMovie '09.
It used to work fine in iMovie HD. Any ideas??
    Yours sincerely,

    Irish MacUser & MacAddict

I've just spent a while trying to figure this out ...
I used this feature (monitoring audio on import) all the time in previous versions of iMovie ...
Kind of essential I think ...
Now we have a new 'feature' in iMovie where you can't monitor audio during import.
Wouldn't it be nice if Apple documented this somewhere (maybe on iMovie Help ...).
I understand about hi-speed import from other (non DV) formats ...
So why not just let the user hit the 'mute' button if they don't want to listen to audio on import ?
Pretty simple - rather than having this somewhat arbitrary rule imposed on iMovie users ?
The only way to monitor audio during import is to plug headphones into the camera itself.
Which means we are wearing a thing with a wire attached - making the BT headset capability of the Mac somewhat redundant.
Oh well ... one step forward, one step back.
