Getting Projects into RH Server

Hi All
I'm evaluating RoboHelp, and RoboHelp Server. Currently all
our docs are in Word format and we want to produce on line web
help. I've made a test project, generated WebHelpPro, Word and PDF
Docs, but can't for the life of me get the project to appear in
Robohelp
My RH Server projects are stored in the default path:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\RoboHelp Server 6.0\Servers\1\Projects\"
(seems really dumb that I can't locate my data outside the program
directory when I install the project--I mean, who the heck stores
data in the prgram directory--but I'll cross this bridge later).
When I publish the web help pro file, I get the edit
destination dialog, and no matter what I enter ti doesn't work.
I've no idea what server name I'm supposed to be entering: my
physical server anme, odbc source name (I'm using SQL server 2005),
my SQL server instance name. I either get connection failed or it
sits there forever "copying files" (actually just displaying a
progress indicator (I have 5 pages in my test project).
Does anyone have any idea how to get RH Server and RH HTML
working together?

Sorry you folks are having a problem. I am not a "real" web
administrator, but I have set up RoboEngine and RoboHelp Server for
many years. It can definitely be a hassle setting it up for the
first time. This was especially true for me, since I am
self-taught. I'll try to pass along a few things I have learned.
I'll address what I know. First to Mark's question:
I know it may sound strange, but there is a very good reason
why the "real" content is published to a folder under Program
Files. Most Windows IIS administrators routinely create "virtual"
folders for all their web sites in general (having nothing to do
with RoboHelp Server). This is considered a best practice for
Windows security reasons. So, the server path you mention is one
such virtual folder.
As for your physical server name, this would be either a
domain name (mycompany.com) or an IP address that is listed among
the available domains on your web server. (It occurs to me that you
may be trying to test this on your local computer and not a
dedicated web server. If that is the case, you would normally just
put in the name of your computer or
http://localhost )
I think the reason the server is "waiting" is because it
cannot find the destination or for some reason the permission is
not set correctly.
I realize you may have already done this, but regarding the
ODBC issue, you would first create an empty database in SQL Server,
create a System DSN and then point to that database in
Configuration Manager (You must open Configuration Manager on the
Web Server itself. You cannot access this from the RoboHelp
authoring application).
Lavonna, invariably these issues revolve around "Windows NTFS
Permissions" that must be carefully set up beforehand. I'm sure
that's what tech support was referring to. You may already have
seen them, but I am posting these links below. The last one is
especially important.

Finally, while I realize this doesn't help you now, there is
better news ahead. I found out at the STC Conference in Minneapolis
during a "sneak peek" of the new Adobe RoboHelp 7 that installation
and configuration will be much easier.

OSB does not provide ability to selectively deploy services on a particular server in domain.
For Clusters, when you import and activate, artifacts/services are deployed to all managed server in OSB cluster.

you can only have one OSB server in domain. Other managed server in domains can host other products (SOA/EM etc)

I think you need to extend the domain instead of creating the managed instance manually through Admin console. By default when you create a domain using OSB domain template, it deploys all of the applications needed automatically to all the instances. If you are trying to do it manually, then you need to follow the documentation to see which applications need to be deployed to use OSB services.

To deploy a project, Login to SB console http://<admin>:<port>/sbconsole > System Administration > Export/Import Resources.

How to get project into timeline

I am making a movie of pictures. I have all of the picture organized in the project area. Now I need to bring them down into the timeline so I can add transistions and music. I just can't figure out how to move the pictures there. I would appreciate some help. Thank you

If your pictures are in the upper left they're in the project browser, which is the timeline, and your window will look something like this:
You are not in project library. The button in the upper left is a button that takes you to the project library where all your projects are kept.
The Events Library only holds video, so if your project only has stills it may well be empty.
You may be confused because the window arrangement can be swapped so that the project browser, the timeline, is at the bottom:
You can do that if you wish but you don't have to. You can add any transitions or music or whatever to the project browser either when it's in the upper portion of the screen or when it's in the lower portion of the screen.

How do I get project downloaded to 2nd user's PC?

I'm testing RH6 with RoboSource Control 3. Was able
to covert existing project and get it up onto server as single
user. Checking in out as single user is fine. Now, I want to test
how it works with 2nd user.
When 2nd user tries to get project off the server, it seems
to be okay. Used "recursive" to get the file structure.
When she opens the project in RH6, gets error that cpd file
is corrupt. Delete the cpd and try again, same error.
If ignore the error message, the project opens but there are
lots of broken links. Also, the single source info for the project
is missing (should be FlashHelp).
How do I get this to work for 2nd user? I'm not an IT person,
just a tech writer, so need step by step instructions.

Once you've got the RSC DB set up, loading the project into
source control is easy. First, you'll need to get RH acquainted
with the new DB. To do this, use RSC3 Explorer to open the new
database. Once you've created a connection to the new DB, you can
close the RSC Explorer. Then open your project in RH6 and click the
Add to Version Control button in the RoboHelp toolbar. Select the
correct connection name; other than that, accept the defaults. (For
the Root Path box, you'll probably need to click the "..." button
and then select the top level folder, $.) Wait for the process to
complete. When it's done, all the files will be checked out to you.
Go ahead and check them all back in.
As for the 2nd user, I like to skip some of the setup work by
doing it this way: zip the folder containing the source files and
let the other users extract it onto their machines. They can just
open the project from the xpj, and the setup is largely done for
them already. And for large projects, the cpd file is already
built, which can save time.
I'm new at RSC3, and I'm working from memory here, so there
may be details missing. Still, that's the general gist.

HT4115 How can I get my Final Cut Express 4 projects into Final Cut Pro X?

I'm going to be switching to OSX Lion, and will have to update Final Cut, since express won't run on Lion. Thus I have to get X. With the new 64-bit Pro X is there a way to open my past projects? I know that at one time you could open up older versions of FC in higher and newer versions. I've heard about Assisted Editing's 7toX for Final Cut Pro application that allows you to convert your old FCP 7 files to be used in FCP X. Does anyone know of the best way I can assure not loosing all my current work?

You can't import FCE projects into FCP X but you can import the media.
You may well find that FCE will work on Lion.
It seems OK on mine.
Why do you want to go to Lion? Snow Leopard is probably a better OS in many ways.

Can't get my FCP project into Motion

Working with FCP 5.1.4 and Motion 2.1.2.
I tried to send the Final Cut project I'm working on via:
File > Send to "Motion Project"
Error I keep getting says "wrong file type"
Am I just a *******? Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks much,

Well, the whole project. But it's small. Under a minute. But I did select it by doing a command-A before trying the Send to > Motion project. I can get it into motion by exporting as QT movie then importing into motion, I just know there's probably a more direct route.

Do you want to ADD it to an existing Project? If so, then you can just Copy/Paste the trailer project onto an existing project. Otherwise, just Share(export as a QT vid) and import it back into iMovie to add to your other movie. Hope this helps.

Without knowing what you have tried please open System Preferences - Sharing - File Sharing and select File Sharing. If you still have trouble you can call AppleCare in the morning when they re-open. You have 90 days of telephone support if you haven't already bought AppleCare.

Getting iDVD 1 Project into iDVD 6

Does anyone know the upgrade path? Do I have to install and upgrade from 1 to 2 to 3 etc. all the way up to 6 or what?
What is the shortest method? Can I skip any versions?

Thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately, for my client, he needs to use this project because it is a template he uses for his business.
He used to have iDVD on his old machine, but upgraded to a Powermac G5 Quad. He never updated iDVD cause there was no need. But now he has iDVD6 (came with the G5) and it won't open the iDVD 1 project.
The new machine wont run iDVD 1 and his project is on the new machine and iDVD 6 wont open it. But he needs to use this project. He uses it as a template for the work he does for his clients.
I know there is a huge jump from 1 to 6. But we're kinda stuck since he can't go back to his old machine and he needs the project itself, not just some video off of it.
I have all the versions of iDVD and was just thinking of updating his project version by version. Install 2 then update, install 3, then update and so on..... I was just wondering if I can skip a version or two here, maybe go from 1 to 3 and then from 3 to 6, etc....
There is no info on Apple Support as to what versions of older projects the various iDVDs will open (i.e. 6 will open 5,4 and 3 projects, etc.) So what I need to know is how I can update the project to eventually get it into 6, if possible at all. I think my method will work, although it will take time, But the client needs to NOT lose the project.

Getting Project Site Provisioning Pop-up even after Operational Policies set as Do not create a sites in project server 2013.

In Project server 2013, users are getting Project Site Provisioning Pop-up even after Operational Policies set as Do
not create a sites.
We can use “Deny” Global Permission, “Manage SharePoint Foundation”, which controls Project site creation/ delete
as temporary workaround however want to know is this know defect in Project server 2013?
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

I can reproduce the same behaviour in my environment. It pops-up the dialog box when Project Site Provisioning settings set to 'Do Not Create' in the Central admin for the Project Web App.
As you mentioned already you can control it via permissions as an work-around.
Alternatively, you can also ask users to select the check box 'Don't show this again for this project'
