Getting sound out of my speak

Hello everyone, now that I've got your attention, I moved my computer equipment from one room to another. I THOUGHT all I had to do was plug in the green plug from my sub woofer into the output (labeled GREEN) on the back of my PC and voila! the music would come flowing from my speakers...well... I have the Creative SB X-Fi sound card installed, so I figured I must be wrong, the green plug needs to be plugged into the Creative card! So, I tried EVERY hole in it! And, guess what, NO SOUND! Now, I know all the experts are just going to laugh...but I'm just irritated with myself that I ever UNPLUGGED the **bleep** cord from the back of the computer! Can any help me...is there something else I need to do? Thanks!
Pat M?

There is no left speaker... the grille on the left is for the microphone.

  • Not getting sound out of a speaker with my Zen Xt

I've had my Zen Xtra for 5 months. I've enjoyed it every day. But today, I began listening to it and to my surprise, no sound came out of the right speaker! It wasn't my headphones, as I soon found out. It is my Zen Xtra. I've read around this site and found to my great disappointment that there is nothing that can be done about this. This obviously didn't make me too happy, as it seems that I spent a good deal of money on a portible hard dri've. I've heard of things like this happening before with creative MP3 players. In fact, I've had two of my friends who had the same thing happen with their Zen Micros. I don't know how commonly this happens, but I'd assume it happens enough if you said something about it in the FAQ. This is a major blow to my customer satisfaction. I figure I've got a few options:
? Return my Zen Xtra for an insane fee (about half the price of it minimum) for it to be repaired, although this shouldn't have ever happened
? Attempt to fix it myself, which probably won't turn out too well
? Li've with it, but no longer recommend it to anyone or show it off in public again, and slowly save up for a product that works better
Gi'ven my options, I'll probably just li've with it, but seriously Creative, this is a problem on your part if it keeps happening very often. More than one person that I know has been swayed never to buy MP3 players from you again. Don't get me wrong, they are great. But you're obviously messing something up with the headphone jack.
Oh, and if anyone knows of a way to fix this, please help me do so.

The early Xtras and Micros are well known for developing this fault, although at what level it's hard to say.
I'm not sure where you are (or not) in the warranty period, but even if out of warranty I would contact Creative and point out this is a known fault. If you get nowhere with this you can attempt a repair, but I would strongly recommend only those with surface mount soldering experience try it. There's a page here on how to do the repair, but I'm having problems loading it at the moment. So it may not exist any more.

  • DDL or DTS = no sound out of rear speak

I have a sb xfi plat with optical out going to a dd/dts reciever and every time i play an mp3 i only get sound out of the front speakers and not my rears, is anyone else having this issue?

Thank you for the responce, however with every other DDL / DTS connect (nforce2 soundstorm,?blue gears, auzentech) you could enable DDL or DTS connect and any stereo source would automatically be 5. or 6. surround sound. See below.
MP3 source -> real ddl/dts connect sound car?-> dolby digital / dts stream -> external reciever with dolby digital dts light on +sound on all speakers
On the sound blaster the following happens
MP3 source ->?sb xfi plat -> dolby digital /dts stream with only 2 channels being used?-> external reciever with DD or DTS light on + sound from only front speakers.
Are you telling me this is how?creative designed this to work because?it isn't working like?every other DDL / DTS connect card out there.
I don't kow how and where exactly the defferences are between those solutions. But as I told it, it is the way the Creative implemention handles it. If you don't use CMSS-3D or use the surround functions of you Decoder (I have a seperate balance for "surround" on my Z-5500 where I can set If the rear speaker are used *at all*) you won't get automaticly Surround Sound with MP3. Of course it still depends a bit on you player software, there are player/filters (AC3 Filter; ffdshow) out there which can do that too. Upmixing Stuff, I mean but then you don't really need DDL. I use it to encode actual game sounds, because strangely I don't have any popping and noise in there while I use it (just read up that crackling/popping thread.

  • Can't get sound out of safari

    hey all,
i am not able to get sound out of my mac?! And thats only on Safari. I cant watch any videos now! please help.
    thanks in advance

    Hi
I'm far from an expert on "sound" issues. I believe OS X's sound file is designed to be functional for 16 bit sound files, not 24 bit. 24 bit sound file offer enhanced sound quality, but are larger in size. Perhaps not yet practical for web sites.
explaining the difference between the two settings.
    Thanks for the green star.

  • [SOLVED] Connecting my guitar to my pc and get sound out?

I have a guitar and a cable that came with the game Rocksmith for ps3. The cable is a regular guitar cable with a usb out. Is there any software that I could use to get sound out from my pc. When I connect it to my pc, it recognizes my guitar as a microphone.  I searched and all I found was some $500 windows software. Thank you for all the help.

If you have a decent sound card this might work for processing the guitar sound, but I haven't tried this myself even though I have the cable. It basically depends on what is put out through the usb cable. You might want to install some audio recording software, treat the input as a microphone and see what is being captured.
However, it is probably a better idea to connect the guitar directly to the sound card with a regular cable (through a mixer or with an adapter). The translation process in the cable will very likely only add latency. A bit more information about what you are trying to accomplish will get you better answers :-)
I just wanted to get sound out of my computer because I have no amp or any money to buy one right now. I have some nice computer speakers and thought that the cable might work since it is a usb. I'm not using my ps3 because it broke or else I would just use my tv. But thanks for the idea. I'll keep looking around.

  • Only getting sound out of one spea

Okay, so a while ago my speakers crapped out on me and I could only get sound when I used headphones, which was something I tolerated for some time. But now, just recently (after I got a high-speed internet connection, actually), I can only get sound out of the left headphone. Can anyone give me some assistance here? According to the device manager, I have a Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64V...so I'm not sure if I have a Sound Blaster AudioPCI or a Sound Blaster PCI64. Anyway, I tried installing the drivers for the latter, but it didn't help anything. What's the deal, anyone? Does it sound like a sound card issue, or is it perhaps my speakers?

    EverclearFan,
Did this soundcard come preinstalled in your computer? If so you will need to contact your computer manufacturer for support as the card may be OEM. OEM components are often modified from their retail standards and require special drivers that only the Vendor will have access to.

  • When i have my headphones plugged in i only get sound out of one side

when I have my headphones plugged in - I can hear out of both earbuds when on a telephone call, but when I switch to music I only get sound out of one ear

There could be 2 possibilities: the earphone cable to not completely seated, or the earphone connector is defective.

  • How do I get sound out when I plug in a USB mic?

How do I get sound out when I plug in a USB mic?  I cannot hear my instrument tracks either.  It will record my vocals, but I can't hear them.  If I unplug the mic and restore the internal devices, then I can hear all tracks, including the vocals.  I'm sure there's a simple solution.

    Hi
Prior to Logic 9, you cannot separately choose Input/Output audio devices, so you either have the USB Mic, or the Built-in audio (or an external audio interface).
To set up for 'mixed' devices, you need to use AudiMIDI Setup (Utilities folder) to create an Aggregate Device.

Note that I recall that it was 'sensitive' to which order you create the devices with some USB Mics.

  • Getting Sound Out of Classic

I just got a new G5 and installed Classic. Now I can't get any audio from any Classic apps or from the OS itself. I noticed I don't even have a "sound" control panel in Classic mode. Is this strange? I seem to remember having one when I used this same setup with my G4. Do I need to download any drivers for my soundcard? What if I just want the sound out of the computer output? Any help is great!

I just got a new G5 and installed Classic. Now I
can't get any audio from any Classic apps or from the
    OS itself.
I think we've identified the source of your problem... assuming that you mean that you can't get sound out of OS X.
    I noticed I don't even have a "sound"
control panel in Classic mode. Is this strange?
No. You should have a few sound-related items in the Extensions folder (Sound Manager, SoundSprocket Filter, Speakable Items, Speech Manager, Speech Recognition, perhaps a few others) but there needn't be any sound-related control panels.
    I
seem to remember having one when I used this same
setup with my G4. Do I need to download any drivers
for my soundcard? What if I just want the sound out
of the computer output? Any help is great!
I had other sound stuff in my System Folder left over from the days when that System Folder was on a beige G3. The absence of those items doesn't seem to matter to my iMac G5. When I set up the iMac G5 I generated a completely new System Folder instead of just copying over the old one. What's in that folder now is what Apple thinks should be there to run Classic, plus the items MSIE drops into the System Folder because I did a test run of MSIE for Classic just to see if it still worked. (It does)

  • Sound out of one speaker only

Sound has started to come out of one speaker only. i've checked cords to amplifier etc etc and that is not the issue,. Anyone else had this problem?

Hello adyomo. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Please try connecting a pair of stereo headphones to the audio port of your AirPort Express Base Station (AX). If you now get sound from both channels, the problem may still be either with the cables or the amplifier. If; however, you are still only getting sound from one channel, either the AX's audio port or its audio circuitry may have failed.

  • Can't get sound out of imac

I am a musician and am trying to mix down some tracks off of a hard disk. I have a hard disc recorder and a mixing board that i am running into an M-audio Firewire solo. I have the signal flow going into the firewire solo and then into my mac. when i click on the system preferences and go to sound I have the fire wire solo as the input and the headphone as the output. i see good signal coming into the mac but can't seem to get any sound out of the mac. the headphne out is hte only thing I see as an output which i have selected. please help - I cant hear anything!!

.. It can't be an m-audio issue when i have a great input signal could it?? ..
with my humble experience of 20 years with Macs - no, that is not neccessairly a (computer's) logic conclusion ..
as said, I just have some know-how with iM/camcorders... and we do experience some same 'effects', e.g. 'cause camcorder is import-disabled, as many Euroepan devices are ... or, we experience control over camera via firewire but no picture etc.pp.
    different approach:
are you able to use your devcie with other apps, e.g. Logic, Grarageband.
it is an audio-interface, I assume, you're using in mainly for ... ehm, audio.

  • After attaching the headset to the audio jack, i get sound from the laptop speaker

after attaching the headset to the audio jack, i get sound from the laptop speaker

This worked for me as well. Great find! I have gigabyte ep45-ud3r motherboard and I was getting all sound through external speakers except itunes was playing the sound out of the digital output instead of the speakers. I could see this when I went to control panel > hardware & sound > manage audio devices. I did the repair as described above and now I have sound in iTunes.

  • No sound out of one speaker...

Hello, all! My iPod recently suffered a nasty blow, which deformed the case and seemingly knocked the sound out of the right earbud. I've tried a different pair of headphones, but still I get nothing out of the right earpiece. I also tried resetting the iPod (toggling the Hold switch, holding the Menu and Play buttons), but that didn't do anything either. Do you think it's a problem with the internals, or do I just need to restore this thing? Is there a way to toggle between mono sound and stereo sound (maybe it was jarred into mono mode)? If it's a problem with the actual iPod, will Apple even fix it for me? I'm having one helluva time initiating service through this website -- should I call Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE and talk to someone directly? Thanks in advance!

I was informed this afternoon that my iPod cannot be fixed. Thanks for all your help, people.
