Google Static Maps display with LabVIEW

Hi,
I have made a VI that displays the map based on Google Static Maps. For testing, I give random LAT and LON to display the location on front panel.
Issue is, whenever I try to change the coordiantes via a numeric control, the display either takes too much time to load and most of the times it shows half of the display. I tried putting a delay inside while loop but it does the same; shows me half image.
The Google Static maps work a URL script that has a specific format provided my Google. The format can be viewed here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/staticmaps/
I have also attached a VI. A little asistance is needed in how I could either change my code in a such a way that i uses less memory and takes very less time to load.
Thank you.

Attaching my VI does not seem to work either, I get an error saying that "The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type."

Hi Pianne,
have you tried to uploade a .zip file containing your .vi?!
- sorry, my reply came to late

  • Google Static Maps for IOS

    HI,
I'm working on using static maps on the iPhone and its running really well so far. I can add custom markers and the maps look nice.
What I'm having a problem with is having a link on the marker itself. I just can't see where the link goes and google don't mention it on the static map
help pages. Can it be done?
This is my URL to add map and markers, so I guess it should go in here...somewhere
    url = "http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?zoom=14&size=" + 310 + "x" + 320 + "&maptype=roadmap&markers=color:blue|label:A|" + mapLat + "," + mapLong + "&sensor=true";
    any help would be great

No, it would probably be better to check with Google.

  • How can I generate a map file with LabVIEW?

We wish to use a product which inserts code into our executable to prevent tampering with it by crackers.  The program, however, takes the executable file, as well as the map file (which is commonly generated by c++ compilers) and uses the map file to determine where in the exe the critical routines that need protection are at.  I can not, however, determine how to create such a map file for a LabVIEW generated executable.  Is there a special build option I need to invoke?

Yes, I'm familar with NI's licensing technology, having talked with someone (you, Dennis, I believe) about it before.  The problem we have is our software is sold to factories in China where there are no internet connections.  We have a physical key 'dongle' which must be present in order for the executable to be willing to run.  However, it appears that people are taking the executable  which LabVIEW creates and they are editing it, probably by using a a debugger and tracing to the the code which checks for the dongles presence and bypassing it.  To my knoweledge, NI's products don't do anything to prevent this, right?
We found a company which sells a product that encryptes, checksums, etc... an executable file, but it needs to know the layout of functions in the exe in order to determine which areas to focus the obfuscation on.  They were sort of matter of fact when they said it needs the exe and the map file, as if they expected any language which produced an exe could produce a map file.

  • Google Map Integration with Map Viewer is not working

    Hi Team,
    My MapViewer Version: Ver11_1_1_7_B130111
I have created a Google Map (with Type of Map Source as "Google Maps") in Oracle Map Viewer and i could see google map in Oracle Map Viewer(using "show Map").
I wanted to show a village map theme over the above google map in a web page and i am using Jdeveloper to integrate map viewer with Village data. I could see the google maps inside Jdeveloper however when i run the Jdeveloper code google map is not shown inside the web page.
I tried with Oracle Maps, Bing Maps as the "map source" in map viewer and tried integrating inside Jdeveloper and got same result (blank screen). However when i tried a different mapviewer ( Base Map ELOCATION.WORLD_MAP from OracleFMW MapViewer Home ) i could see the map in the web page.
I could get all other base maps (created with "internal" as the map source") in the web page, so there is some thing that i am missing with Google Maps, Bing Maps, Oracle Maps. Could you please help me what is that i am missing or point to a help resource?
    Thanks

  • Address mapping function?  (automatically show google map, like with Mail?)

I have a Numbers spreadsheet full of building addresses in my area. I'd like to be able to automatically visually map an address on google maps, such as is available in the Mail application (like when you hover over an address and it recognizes text that makes up an address and allows the feature to map it with a single click). Is this possible at all?

you were in a wrong application.

I updated my iPhone to the new IOS6 and my awesome Google map app was replaced with the sucky, horrible, awful Apple map app. I want my Google navigator map app back!!!!!!

I agree. I liked the previous map app.  The version 6 app is powered by tomtom, I think.  No more street view. I don't care for the new overhead view when dropping a pin.  Plus, the current map app doesn't have the local points or data base that the google maps app had.  Too bad I can't go back to the old map app.

  • I am trying to find a method to customise the pin icon on Web Apps map display

    Hi all,
We are trying to find a method to customise the pin icon on Web Apps map display. This is the page that we are working with, it has 2 categories of locations.
    http://www.corporategames.net.au/aus/Sport/venue-map
I want to be able to set the pin either at a web app item level or a category level.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jude.

There's really no simple answer to your problem but I think this link is a good place to start
    http://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/#custom_marker_image_v3
Also, there are lots of examples of what you want here:
    https://developers.google.com/showcase/
But how you apply this to your needs is likely something that's gonna keep you up through many nights and coffees!

  • Map app with bicycle option

The default map app on my iPhone 4 doesn't seem to offer the same (beta) option for bicycling directions as Google Maps does in a computer browser.
Is there another map app with the option for bicycling directions?
Or an ETA for update of the default map app to include the bicycling option?

Thanks for the quick response but, none of those really address the core issue, so I'll try to be a little more specific in case anyone else has a suggestion.
As with Google Maps on my desktop computer, I'm looking for an app which will allow me to specify point A and point B on a map, then calculate suggested route and directions from A to B for bicycling. (Not automobile or walking.)
Don't need gear calculators or speedometers or timers or race results or tracks of where I've been.
Just looking for an app like Google Maps to calculate and display recommended bicycling route between my selected points.
It would be really simple if the existing default map app would add "bicycling" to the existing options, just like on my desktop. Far easier to carry an iPhone on my bike!
    Thanks.

  • MapPoint ActiveX Control with Labview 7.1

I am looking for a basic example on how to integrate a MapPoint ActiveX control into a Labview vi so I can pull up maps at a given set of lat-long coordinates with zoom in and out capability.   I'm new to Labview and activex container use and have not previously attempted to program with MapPoint, but that is what I have to work with.  Not finding discussions on MapPoint use with Labview, at either MS site or here, so am looking for assistance to get me started.  Using Labview 7.1, MapPoint 2004 and Windows XP.

    Hi,
I'm afraid I don't have any experience with MapPoint, but some of the other members might. If so, it would be great if they could post any code they may have...
As a general rule, programming ActiveX is a little tricky since properties and methods aren't always documented well. Furthermore, the ActiveX hierarchies for a particular application can change from revision to revision. This is why programs using activeX to interface with Word or Excel have problems with different versions of Office. If you have to use Map Point, you may want to check MSDN for any information they may have. You may also want to check out the ActiveX examples in the Example Finder by searching for ActiveX. They should give a general understanding of how ActiveX programming is done on the LabVIEW side of things.
If you can use a web based application, it might make your life a little easier. You can specify lat long coordinates in Google Maps very easily. Im attaching a simple application that does this for you. Just enter the lat and long in decimal format and hit run. The resulting map will show up in the container on the front panel and you can pan or zoom to your heart's content. I hope this helps. Good luck with your application and happy holidays!

  • WP8 Map control with custom tiles

I'm trying to display a map control in my app targeting Windows Phone 8 but I want to use custom tiles from open street map.
    I'm using this line :
    mapControl.TileSources.Add(new TileSource("http://a.tile.openstreetmap.org/{zoomLevel}/{x}/{y}.png"));
When I launch the app the custom tiles are properly displayed, but there's still the default map tiles underneath them.
I tried to hide them, but I counld'nt even find where they exist in the map control and what is displaying them exactly.
I would like to know how I can remove those default tiles when loading custom tiles.

  • How do you use multiple displays with a MacBook Pro and iMac

I have an iMac and a MacbookPro laptop both upgraded to OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).  I'd like to use multiple displays with them.  Can I do this without an Apple TV?  They are both on the same network.  If I can, can someone please give some instructions on how this can be done?
    Thanks!

Both computers have ports for external monitors. Check your user manuals. Only one display can be added to the MBP, but newer iMacs have dual Thunderbolt ports.
Do your own Google research to learn what to do, but reading your manuals should be all you really need. It' not rocket science yet.

  • Can the iphone maps display more than one pin at the same time?

For example, on a recent trip to New York I preloaded bookmarks of all the places I wanted to visit into the iPhone Maps. I then wanted to see where they all were in relation to one another so I could decide which one to go to next (MOMA, Guggenheim, Metroplitan Museum of Art for example). Is it possible to have the map display them all at the same time?

    DaVBMan wrote:
Are you sure about that Andrew. I see no option to toggle on all my bookmarked pins. I can pick one to show and it shows up. But if I pick another, the previous one will go away. Only doing a search for stuff in an area will Google Maps show multiple pins, but I see no way of making all your saved bookmarks show up.
Did it on mine just now but I also did a very small location here in Sacramento. Dropped a pin in 1 city, Bookmarked, Dropped a few others and bookmarked at least 6 cities in the general Sacramento area, zoomed out just a bit and saw 6 red Pins. Which are all bookmarked.
If I could snap a photo of my screen I would post it.

  • How can I activate a functional global without displaying a LabVIEW VI ??

Hello. I'm using Teststand and have been got stuck on a problem now.
Whenever I communicate to a LabVIEW VI which is activated as a functional global,  I purposely displayed the LabVIEW VI on front pannel to make sure the data communication.
However once I released the check mark 'Show VI front pannel when called' , the data transmission including receiving vanished. As a matter of fact, always the numeric data resturns ' 0 '.
So the data communication must be transacted with a shift resgister function at each step in Teststand, so it always provides a command to the functional global VI for an e-num  item selector.
Therefore it looks the shift register function doesn't work at the point anymore in the functional global VI.
Otherwise as long as I suspend the VI as a display, checking on the box 'Show VI front pannel when called' , I exactly can make sure the data communication , receiving the command and returning the data.
Have you heard that kind of unusal problem before?
Do you think it happened due to data communication or just simply Teststand applicational error?
If it has some useful information, I try to fix them.
    Thank you.

I'm not sure about the current versions of TestStand but in previous versions you had the possibility to preload certain test steps or initializer VIs. TestStand made sure to keep them in memory for the entire duration of the particular test sequence. You create such an initializer VI and call your init method in there and mark that step as preload. On loading the sequence or initializing it your step gets called and stays in memory for the entire duration. I would be surprised if TestStand doesn't support this anymore.
