Gray scale color table

I want to make a picture out of an 8-bit unsigned integer 2D matrix of data. I can successfully do that using the "draw unflattened pixmap" function. However, it requires a color map. If you don't wire the color map, it uses the default labview color map. I want to use a gray scale color map (numbers between 0 and 255 corresponding to colors ranging from white to black). I am not sure how to make this color map and implement it. I appreciate any help.

The problem seems to be solved this way. Although it seemed to work (I got a gray scale image), I am not sure if what I have done is technically correct (if there is a better way of doing it). If someone wants to comment on it, I would appreciate.
Yes, this is technically correct (top). (Typically you can do it once, then right-click the indicator and "change to constant" and delete the loop code.)
You might also flatten the rgb tool code to the diagram (bottom). This has the advantage that the entirel loop will be calculated once at compile time and internally folded into a constant so the loop actually never spins during execution of the program (See also). (Of course this particular loop is trivial and nothing to worry about, performance wise. )

  • How to convert color image(24 bit) YUV 4:2:2 to gray scale 8 bit image

    I am using sony DFW-X700 color camera for one of vision applications.Does NI Compact Vision System(CVS) support YUV 4:2:2 format(8 bit each).I want to do gray scale processing, so i need to convert the YUV color into gray scale (8-bit) in the software(like Labview). Please suggest us how to do this conversion for better gray scale image clarity from color.

    In YUV color space, Y represents the gray scale; in RGB color space, R=G=B represents gray scale. You can simply set R=G=B=Y, to convert YUV to RGB. If the original color depth is 24 bit, then the result is 24 bit too.
    You can create gray scale color table like this:
    array size = 256;
    [0] = 0x000000;
    [1] = 0x010101;
    [2] = 0x020202;
    [255] = 0xFFFFFF;
    To convert 24 bit gray scale to 8 bit, check every pixel in 24 bit image to find the array index according to the color table, and replace the pixel with array index.

  • How to print a downloaded color document in black or gray scale

    I have Adobe Reader 9; Windows Vista Home Premium; HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless printer.  I have downloaded a document that is pre-set to print in color.  I want to print it in black or gray scale.  I click on the printer icon for the printing pop up.  When I click on the Properties bar to make the request for black or gray scale, nothing happens.  What steps can I take to convert the pre-set color download to be printed in black or gray scale?  Thanks!

    I have only had the experience when I have downloaded a link from within an email to my Hotmail account when the download has already been set up in color.  To date, I have not had that problem with Word.       There are specifically two situations regarding two different monthly emailed newsletters.  This is through Internet Explorer 8; Windows Vista Home Premium.  (I will not use Internet Explorer 9.  It causes blocks for routine procedures, especially involving my Hotmail account--such as not being able initially to download a normal attachment or, if downloaded, not being able to print a normal download attachment.)     However, after I sent out my request for help, I switched to Mozilla Firefox and was able to print the "color" download in black right away because the Preferences bar responded as it should.  (Through Internet Explorer 8, regarding this particular link/download/attachment, the printing pop up had a Properties bar.  However, I am aware that, in some other pop up formats, there are both a Properties bar and a Preferences bar to choose from.)       I have Mozilla Firefox as a backup because, sometimes, I have to resort to it to download email attachments (whether black or color) coming from the east coast when they will not download through Internet Explorer 8.  (I am near the geographic center of the US.)     Thank you for your interest in my concern.  I will gladly accept any advice regarding being able to print an email attachment/link color download in black when using Internet Explorer 8!  Does it depend on how the link attachment is set up or what the link attachment is??

  • How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)

    How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)??? creative cloud cs6... Acrobat etc

    Hi, just wanted to add my 2¢
    I've been in publishing over 25 years and live in Acrobat for making my final files. Currently with a newspaper.
    This is what we do:
    • Tool Panes > Print Production Window
    • Select CONVERT COLORS
    • Midway down under OUTPUT INTENT, check Convert Colors to Output Intent
    • In the associated drop down menu, I choose (because I'm printing on newsprint) DOT GAIN 20% – If you're working on better stock, choose a lower dot gain percentage.
    • Click OK – this will convert the file
    • Save
    Note: this affects the file you're working with. Make sure that you use this method on a COPY if you want to retain the original color version.
    I think if you compare my method to the Preflight method, you'll see a tighter contrast and better blacks. I've always felt the Preflight method left continuous tones a little muddy.
    Now if there was only a way to add that to ACTIONS...!

  • Color ID doc prints MOST elements in gray scale.

    Please help.  I'm at the end of my rope.  Deadline looming.
    I have an ID document that is ALL color.  When I go to print it, no matter if it's set for ID color management or printer color management, most elements of the page come out in gray scale.  It's a perfect representation of the document, only in grays.  Oddly, there are elements that print in color.  Even weirder, one object from an AI file will print in perfect color, but another object from the same AI file into the same ID doc will print gray.
    Everything is CMYK.  I even use Bridge to control colors between programs.  I cannot figure this out.
    Any advice?
    ps... not sure it matters, but I am printing on an HP cp2025dn.  Windows 7.  CS5.

    Hello Lynn,
    Is your network router located near your desktop PC and L7590 officejet?
    If so, I would suggest that you connect the L7590 to the router with an ethernet cable(you can also leave your usb cable connected to the desktop). Then you can connect more directly (still through the network) to the L7590 with your dv7 laptop instead of connecting through the desktop.  Since your dv7 is wirelessly connected to the router, and the L7590 is also connected (wired) to the same router, the setup is much easier.
    If you want to try this, first download the software from hp.com (click here for the download page).  When you run the installation on your dv7 notebook you will be guided through the steps necessary for connecting to the printer via the network.
    Dont forget to reply and let us know how it goes!

    Was the printer instance properly configured when created, so the print subsystem picked the correct PPD and knows of all the device's capabilities? If in doubt, erase and create anew so you can confirm that the printer maker/model/version is getting correctly identified. This may trigger Software Update to download & install a printer update. • Gray scale photos images are different but should be the same; help?

    I send a gray scale image from Lightroom (Edit with ...) and it opened CS4 photoshop.
    I made a blank document , 11x14".
    I used Windows/arrange/ tile to view the blank and the gray scale image. I tired various methods of bringing the gray scale image to the blank one (move tool, select all and move, copy and paste). Each time, I did this within seconds of each other (I made no changes to fill, opacity, and I used Normal). I brought the image in twice so I could print out the SAME image twice on the larger 11x14 at Sams club in order to use the Epson 7800 printer and not the old wet process on the Fugi machine. One image is darker(lighter) than the other every time. I even tried another image and I got two different exposures.
    I wonder if it it only happens with the grayscale images? Perhaps it is a problem coming from Lightroom 2.5?
    I did a three image 16x20 and I didn't notice the difference - partly because they were three differenct images in color. I will try two color images from the same file tomorrow.
    Any thoughts? I haven't found a possible setting problem that would have been applied between the operations.

    Paulo,
    Thanks. I was ready to believe the monitor idea but I still have some reservations.
    I don't doubt what you said about the pixels (sounds correct to me).
    Why?
    I tried another monitor and the images I attached also look like the top one is darker (vertically).
    Also, the same is true if I scrolled the images. It seems to me that I should see a difference as I slowly scroll the image vertically. I didn't see a difference.
    Read on please.
    At any rate (I long for a CRT - my 21" crapped out last year), I am using  two SAMSUNG screens, the
    one attached to the main computer is the Syncmaster T220 - a well rated
    monitor; as far as I knew , read and had friends who recommended them.
    The other I just tried is attached to the second computer a couple of feet away. It is the syncMaster T240HD.
    So, if it is an LCD monitor problem, it is with both and the same
    company. I would think I would have read some bad reports about these
    LCDs?
    Also, wouldn't the color images also be different when presented the same way? (they aren't).
    However, I went back to the original T220 LCD display and moved an image in to a blank one as before, then did the control J to copy the layer, and the images we different again. But, I zoomed in more than usual and scrolled the images and they were lighter at the bottom of the screen and darker at the top of the screen!!!!!!
    That is good news and bad news! $$$$$$
    If it is the monitor problem, then both images should print as the same.????
    Secondly, the display (LCD) attached to the machine at Sams showed the same difference between the two images. AND, I recall that the display is also a Samsung (I will check that tomorrow).
    What a bunch of coincidences! I guess I have to search the web for some Samsung answers? and contact the company?
    I want to explore as much on my end as possible.
    Hunt and another suggested the Control-J to avoid the problem by copying the layer. That didn't work either.
    I suppose I could tweak one of the images after bringing them in but I don't know how (I clicked the layer and I wasn't able to do anything - like lighten that image).
    Again, thanks for the help. I think the question maybe answered.
    I will send the screen capture shortly.

  • How to Convert FLIR Gray Scale Image to a Temperature Map in NI VBAI

    I have been working with a FLIR A315 Infra-Red camera and NI's VBAI software.  I need to determine the presence and continuity of a hot mastic foam that has been injected into the hollow bulb of a rubber weatherstrip seal in 4 adjacent locations that flow together inside the weatherstrip bulb to form a continuous foamed mastic plug.
    So far, I have been able to trigger image acquistions in VBAI from a FLIR IR camera by monitoring an Allen-Bradley PLC's status bit.   The communication with the FLIR A315 camera is via the IMAQdx GigE driver.  However, I haven't figured out how to detemine the temperatures from the gray scale images I receive from the FLIR camera.  I wonder if someone could give me some pointers on how to do this.
    I have attached some images below to illustrate what I am working with and how far I've gotten.
    iPhone_Photo.jpg - shows a photograph of the weatherstrip section that the FLIR IR camera is "looking" at.
    FLIR_IR_Monitor.jpg - a screen capture of a FLIR IR monitor utility that shows temperatures measured at a number of points and areas (showing it can be done)
    NI_VBAI.jpg - part of my VBAI 2010 project which shows the image I've acquired from the FLIR A315 IR Camera
    So, I am part of the way there, but so far have not found a way to map the gray scale image that VBAI is acquiring from the FLIR IR camera into a heat map from which I can determine temperatures - and would appreciate some help on how to do this.
    Kind regards,
    Nick

    Hello,
    Image provided by FLIR camera are unsigned 16bit.
    Depending on the FLIR temperature scale you selected (10mK or 100mK), you will have to divide by a 10 or 100 factor to get K values. Don't select radiometric output.
    So if your object is cold, the population of the histogram of your image will be on the left part of it and if the object is hot, the population of the histogram will be on the right part.
    If you want your temperature values in Celcius, just add 273,15 to the Kelvin Value.
    Then you can add a color palette in VBAI (FLIR iron is available)
    Hope this helps

  • "instant boot" to gray scale, then full use

    28Apr2015
    iMac: 21.5, late 2013, OSX 10.9.5
    I occasionally disconnect my iMac and store it or disconnect it when lightning is threatening (we live in Florida). Lately, the last couple of months, when setting up the mac again out of storage or disuse, I hit the power-on button and the screen immediately displays in gray scale everything: the wallpaper, all the folder/file icons, and a progress bar below. In less than 30seconds, the color snaps back, and all files, and programs that were launched before I shut down are now “instantly” available. Please explain what is going on.

  • Setting color table of intensity graph

    Hi!
    I set the attribute color table of an intensity graph to a rainbow

    >
    Intensity graphs have two different modes for its color definition.
    The first, typical one, is the Color array. It can be set using
    either attributes or interactively and lets you define number/color
    pairs that create either a smoothly interpolated or a banded color
    gradient. The second mode is the color table. This is useful for
    bitmaps or for cases where the color table has been custom generated
    on the diagram. When using the color table, the Z scale is still
    useful for determining which numbers map to the 0-255 range of the
    color table. If you set the
    Z scale to autoScale, it will find the
    min and max of the data and set the Z to show all data mapped through
    the color table. If set smaller, some of the values will map to the
    first and last out of range colors. If set larger, it will map the
    values to a smaller and smaller number of the colors in the color
    table.
    It sounds like you really want to be using the color array and not
    the color table. The intensity graph automatically switches for
    you when you write attributes to it, but there is a way to change
    it back the the color array using a popup or attribute.

  • Sensor analog balance for 2850K color table

    Hello
    I currently try to create a dual illuminant camera profile using DNG Profile Editor 1.0.0.46 beta for our Aptina CMOS MT9P031 based camera.
    Using the DNG SDK 1.4, i'm converting the BAYER pattern images to a DNG with a Embedded Profile which has identity matrices set on the color matrixes and analog balance DNG tags.
    D65 shooting conditions:
    - High-CRI LED based light source set to 6500K @ 300 lx (spectrum fit 96%)
    - CMOS sensor analog gains were adapted to achieve a neutral image at the D65 shooting conditions
    a. Do I have to keep all component gains to 1.0 or adjust for the illumination?
    b. Does it matter what I apply on the embedded camera profile on the AnalogBalance DNG tag?
    Std A shooting conditions:
    - Same light source set to 2850K @ 300 lx (spectrum fit 92%)
    - CMOS sensor analog gains were _not_ adapted to achieve a neutral image. This obviously results in a orange color tint which can be eliminated using the white balance slider on the "Color Matrices" tab of the DNG Profile Editor.
    c. Do I have to adapt the analog gains when shooting for 2850K
    Using the converted DNGs from shooting conditions above, I can create the color table for 6500K using the "Chart" tab, but not the 2850K color. I always receive the error message:
    "Non-neutral gray patches. The gray patch in row 4, column 3, has a significant color cast. Please reshoot the chart carefully to avoid color casts and try again."
    ...but when using the whitebalanace slider on the "Color Matrices" tab in advance of the "Chart" tab, I can tune the Std A image to a perfect neutral image. There is no color cast visible anymore.
    d. Any ideas what I did wrong?
    Kind regards
    blad

    Hi Eric
    Thanks for taking the questions. Some details and clarifications:
    Our analog gains are set to give a neutral image at D65 and we keep them unchanged even if the in-camera white balance algorithm detects a Std. A illuminant. This means the unprocessed RAW image contains a very warm color tint. Obviously, there is much more red than green and blue in the image. Is it correct, that then f.e. apply:
    oNegative->SetAnalogBalance(0.863, 0.599, 0.389);
    -> The values are derived from the red, green and blue components in the 2850K reference image from one of the gray patches on the color checker.
    Thanks for the tip with the missing ColorMatrix values. When I specify a ColorMatrix and AnalogBalance as (described above) I am able to create a color table using the chart tab in Profile Editor the reference image at D65. I keep getting the error for the reference image at 2850K. Did I specify the ColorMatrix the wrong way?
    oProfile->SetCalibrationIlluminant1(lsStandardLightA);
    dng_matrix_3by3 oRGBMatrix( 1.627, -0.448, -0.222,
                               -0.434,  1.787, -0.350,
                               -0.341, -2.014,  3.294);
    dng_matrix_3by3 oXYZ_to_SRGB_D65( 3.2404542, -1.5371385, -0.4985314,
                                     -0.9692660,  1.8760108,  0.0415560,
                                      0.0556434, -0.2040259,  1.0572252 );
    dng_matrix_3by3 oCA = MapWhiteMatrix(StdA_xy_coord(), D65_xy_coord());
    oProfile->SetColorMatrix1(oXYZ_to_SRGB_D65 * Invert(oRGBMatrix) * oCA);
    As soon as I open the DNG with values from above in DNG Profiel Editor I get a cold image with a blue color cast and click-white balance tells me ~3350K/28 instead of 2850K/0.
