Grid Combo Box

I took the code for creating a combo box inside the grid but I have a problem when I change the label of the column that attached to the combo box. It gave me error about identifier not found.
The setDataItemName method I didn't touch it.
any idea ,.. appreciated.
DT
public class myGridComboBox1 extends ComboBoxControl {
public myGridComboBox1(ScrollableRowsetAccess m_Rs, JTable m_Table, String
grid_columnName, String combo_columnName ) {
int rowCount = m_Rs.getRowCount();
Object comboData[] = new Object[rowCount];
try{
for (int iRow=0; iRow<rowCount; iRow++){
m_Rs.absolute(iRow+1);
ImmediateAccess ia =
(ImmediateAccess)m_Rs.getColumnItem(combo_columnName);
String str = ia.getValueAsString();
comboData[iRow] = str;
}catch(Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
// get reference to a column
TableColumn customColumn = m_Table.getColumn(grid_columnName);
// custom TableCellRenderer
TableCellRenderer myTCR = new ListCellRenderer(comboData, rowCount);
// forces this column to use the custom Cell Renderer
customColumn.setCellRenderer(myTCR);
TableCellEditor myTCE = new DefaultCellEditor(new JComboBox(comboData));
customColumn.setCellEditor(myTCE);
// inner class for custom CellRenderer (ComboBox)
class ListCellRenderer extends ComboBoxControl implements
TableCellRenderer{
public ListCellRenderer(Object cData[], int iRow)
super();
for (int i=0; i<iRow; i++)
addItem(cData.toString());
public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table, Object value,
boolean isSelected,
boolean hasFocus, int row, int column)
setBackground(isSelected && hasFocus ? table.getSelectionBackground() :
table.getBackground());
setForeground(isSelected && hasFocus ? table.getSelectionForeground() :
table.getForeground());
setFont(table.getFont());
setSelectedItem(value);
return this;
null

You should pass the name of the attribute,
not the label to the "MyGridComboBox"
constructor.(As grid_ColumnName).
Hope helps.

  • Issues with Data Grid Combo Boxes

    Hi,
    I am trying to implement, 3 combo boxes for each row in extended data grid but unable to find the solution. Can someone please help?
    Problem in detail:
    The issue is after populating the data grid i want to give users 3 options  using 3 combo boxes(i.e each row in data grid will now have 3 options , which is basically converting 1 row into 3 rows with 3 options),so that they are able to do their computations.
    This is reallly urgent, any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Pankaj

    "In this new release of SQL Dev, when I execute a SQL in the SQL Worksheet and click in the Data Grid in the Results tab and try to navigate within a record using arrow keys, the grid cell enters into edit mode by default and so I cannot use the Left or Right arrow keys to navigate the grid. I am forced to use tab key to navigate. This is counter intuitive in my opinion."
    In the "Results" tab, Click Ctrl & Tab keys (at the same time) or with mouse click on any cell other than the first column (a sequence or rownum), you will be able to navigate using the arrow keys.
    "Another issue that I have come across is with SQL syntax checking. In some cases, when I press F9 to execute a SQL, it shows the SQL as executed i.e. shows something like 0.0134 seconds in the toolbar and no results displayed. In reality, the SQL had some syntax error which were NOT reported. This can be frustrating since now I have to fall back to SQL*Plus or TOAD just for syntax check."
    The 0.0134 seconds could be the result of the most recently executed successful statement. Check the Script Output tab for errors. Use F5 (Run Script option) instead of F9.
    "I like the fact that SQLDev highlights the current SQL but it would be more useful if it just indicated the first line of the current sql instead of highlighting the whole sql."
    On the SQL statement (or code), Right Click -> Format SQL (or press Ctrl & B), proper formatting would help.
    I use version 1.0.0.15.57 and seems to be working allright.

  • Data grid combo box

    how can i add a combo box in to the Data grid when i click the add button.
    when i add  the second row what i have selected before is refreshed.
    please help me

    The data property of the item renderer corresponds to the
    item the item renderer renders (a lot of repetitions here... :-).
    But when your application starts, the data property of your
    item renderer is null. Still, the code is executed. So you get a
    null pointer exception.
    How to solve this problem ?
    Use databinding within the item renderer in order to detect
    the data value change from null to an object value:
    <mx:Binding source="{this.data}"
    destination="onDataChanged" />
    private function set onDataChanged(value:Object):void
    if(value)
    // Do something if value is non-null
    Voila !
    No more errors.
    Since the item has a type in the dataprovider of my datagrids
    in my projects, I cast the data property to an explicit type before
    accessing the item properties:
    E.g
    (this.data as Product).ISBN

  • How to display data in a grid after selecting topic from combo box?

    could someone help me out? i'm displaying a combo box (about
    20 items) vertically. when user selects one of these items, i'd
    like for information regarding that choice to be displayed in my
    data grid. thanks - Karl from Kansas

    If you have the following:
    <mx:ComboBox id="combo_box" dataProvider="{users}"
    labelField="user_name" change="show_details(event)"
    ></mx:ComboBox>
    <mx:DataGrid id="data_grid" >
    <mx:columns>
    <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Name"
    dataField="user_name"/>
    <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="email"
    dataField="email"/>
    </mx:columns>
    </mx:DataGrid>
    private function show_details(evt:Event):void {
    data_grid.dataProvider = evt.currentTarget.selectedItem
    This assumes that your combo box data has a user_name and
    email property value. Substitute your property values where needed.

  • Problem rendering a combo box in the data grid

    Hi,
    I am rendering a combo box in the data grid control using an
    item renderer. When I click on it to select a value from the drop
    down, the combo box immediately closes giving no time to even click
    on the dropdown. This doesn’t happen every time the combo is
    clicked, although it happens frequently. What I think is that the
    problem arises because the data grid tries to refresh the renderers
    and during this process, the existing combo is removed, thereby
    getting closed automatically. Please let me know of a work around.
    Thanks,

  • How to Bind a Combo Box so that it retrieves and display content corresponding to the Id in a link table and populates itself with the data in the main table?

    I am developing a desktop application in Wpf using MVVM and Entity Frameworks. I have the following tables:
    1. Party (PartyId, Name)
    2. Case (CaseId, CaseNo)
    3. Petitioner (CaseId, PartyId) ............. Link Table
    I am completely new to .Net and to begin with I download Microsoft's sample application and
    following the pattern I have been successful in creating several tabs. The problem started only when I wanted to implement many-to-many relationship. The sample application has not covered the scenario where there can be a any-to-many relationship. However
    with the help of MSDN forum I came to know about a link table and managed to solve entity framework issues pertaining to many-to-many relationship. Here is the screenshot of my application to show you what I have achieved so far.
    And now the problem I want the forum to address is how to bind a combo box so that it retrieves Party.Name for the corresponding PartyId in the Link Table and also I want to populate it with Party.Name so that
    users can choose one from the dropdown list to add or edit the petitioner.

    Hello Barry,
    Thanks a lot for responding to my query. As I am completely new to .Net and following the pattern of Microsoft's Employee Tracker sample it seems difficult to clearly understand the concept and implement it in a scenario which is different than what is in
    the sample available at the link you supplied.

    And final the code behind of the view vPetitioner:

    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"

    <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" Text="Petitioner:" />
    <ComboBox Grid.Column="1" Width="240" SelectedValuePath="." SelectedItem="{Binding Path=tblParty}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=PetitionerLookup}" DisplayMemberPath="fldName" />
    </Grid>
    </Border>
    </Grid>
    </UserControl>
    The problem, presumably, seems to be is that the binding path "PetitionerLookup" of the ItemSource of the Combo box in the view vPetitioner exists in a different ViewModel vmCase which serves as an ObservableCollection for MainViewModel. Therefore,
    what I need to Know is how to route the binding path if it exists in a different ViewModel?
    Sir, I look forward to your early reply bringing a workable solution to the problem I face.
    Warm Regards,

  • Adding an event listener to combo box

    I am working on a mortgage calculator and I cannot figure out how to add an event listener to a combo box.
    I want to get the mortgage term and interest rate to calucate the mortgage using the combo cox. Here is my program.
    Modify the mortgage program to allow the user to input the amount of a mortgage
    and then select from a menu of mortgage loans: 7 year at 5.35%, 15 year at 5.50%, and
    30 year at 5.75%. Use an array for the different loans. Display the mortgage payment
    amount. Then, list the loan balance and interest paid for each payment over the term
    of the loan. Allow the user to loop back and enter a new amount and make a new
    selection, with resulting new values. Allow user to exit if running as an application
    (can't do that for an applet though).
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;

    The OP already did this to both JComboBoxes.
    mochatay, here is a new actionPerformed method for you to use.
    I've improved a few things here and there...
    1) You can't just cast the ActionEvent's source into a JComboBox!
    What if it was a JButton that fired the event? Then you would get ClassCastExceptions (I'm sure you did)
    So check for all options, what the source of the ActionEvent actually was...
    2) You can't assume the user will always type in valid data.
    So enclose the Integer and Double parse methods in try-catch brakcets.
    Then you can do something when you know that the user has entered invalid input
    (like tell him/her what a clumsy idiot they are !)
    3) As soon as user presses an item in any JComboBox, just re-calculate.
    I did this here by programmatically clicking the 'Calculate' button.
    Alternatively, you could have a 'calculate' method, which does everything inside the
    if(command==calculateButton) if-block.
    This will be called when:
    a)calculateButton is pressed
    b)when either of the JComboBoxes are pressed.
    public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent event)
            Object command = event.getSource ();
            if (command == calculateButton) //calculates mortgage payment
                int year = 0;
                double rate = 0;
                double mortgage = 0;
                double interest = 0;
                /* If user has input invalid data, tell him so
                and return (Exit from this method back to where we were before */
                try
                    year = Integer.parseInt (mortgageTerm.getSelectedItem ().toString ());
                    rate = new Double (interestRate.getSelectedItem ().toString ()).doubleValue ();
                    mortgage = new Double (mortgageAmount.getText ()).doubleValue ();
                    interest = rate / 100.0 / 12.0;
                catch (NumberFormatException nfe)
                    /* Display a message Dialogue box with a message */
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog (this, "Error! Invalid input!");
                    return;
                double monthly = mortgage * (interest / (1 - Math.pow (interest + 1, -12.0 * year)));
                NumberFormat myCurrencyFormatter;
                myCurrencyFormatter = NumberFormat.getCurrencyInstance (Locale.US);
                monthlyPayment.setText (myCurrencyFormatter.format (monthly));
            else if (command == clearButton) //clears all text fields
                /* Better than setting it to null (I think) */
                mortgageAmount.setText ("");
                //mortgageTerm.setText(null);
                //interestRate.setText(null);
                monthlyPayment.setText ("");
            else if (command == exitButton) //sets exit button
                System.exit (0);
            else if (command == mortgageTerm)
                /* Programmatically 'clicks' the button,
                As is user had clicked it */
                calculateButton.doClick ();
            else if (command == interestRate)
                calculateButton.doClick ();
            //JComboBox mortgageTerm = (JComboBox) event.getSource ();
            //String termYear = (String) mortgageTerm.getSelectedItem ();
        }Hope this solves your problems.
    I also hope you'll be able to learn from what I've indicated, so you can use similar things yourself
    in future!

  • How to change screen combo box value from a method?

    Hi,
    I have a screen that has a combo box and an ALV.
    the combo box has the line numbers of the data in the ALV.
    you can select the line item and then the ALV changes...
    I fill the combo with function VRM_SET_VALUE.
    all is good once the user changes the combo box.
    I want to enable the user to click (hotspot) on ALV and then to ... and to change the value of the combo box to the line number he clicked on.
    I couldn't change the value inside that box.
    The combo box is declared as global parameter.
    when I assign a value to it inside the method, it is good. but once back to PAI, it is the old value.
    Do you have any idea how to set up that value?
    Thanks.

    Itay,
    When you load the combo box, you should be setting a "key" for each entry in the combo box.
    See below:
      move '2010FY' to Value-Key.
      move '2010 - Full Year' to Value-Text.
      append value to list.
      move '2010Q1' to Value-Key.
      move '2010 - Q1' to Value-Text.
      append value to list.
      move '2010Q2' to Value-Key.

  • How to use one Combo Box to control Two spreadsheet/charts in Web Analysis

    In Web Analysis panel, I have one data grid and one chart (two different data sources). I would like to have one combo box, e.g. Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, in the selection (drop-down). When I select Q1, I would like to show Jan, Feb, Mar, Q1 ( ICHILDREN(Q1)) in my chart, and also only Q1 in my data grid.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    I believe you can do this. For example you want to have a Chart and Graph linked to a drop down for products. When you select a product, the two POV's will change on the reports.
    Look at Panels in WA. I create a report with three panels. Make the first panel top aligned, the second top aligned and the third stretched. This should make the report "stretchy". Then add your dropdown to one panel and your reports to the other two panels.
    Finally link the reports to dropdown using the re-linking technique mentioned in the previous post.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to populate values from database into a Combo Box?

    Hi,
    How to display all the values of a field of a database table in a combo box inside a grid in B1 user defined form?
    Regards,
    Sudeshna.

    Hi,
    If you are trying to do this on a system form (I gues this is your case, reading the other question), for example Sales Orders, and you want to show the values from a User Defined Table (UDT), you just need to add a User Defined Field on Marketing Documents Line level, and say it is linked to the UDT.
    SBO will automatically show the combo with the values on the Code field of the UDT.
    Regards,
    Ibai Peña
    Sorry, I didn´t read the post well.
    What you could do is each time the form is loaded, read the values from the table, and asign them as Valid Values for the combobox column. You can do this programatically, or using XML (which is recommended becouse of better performance).

  • Problem with Combo Box in a Dialog Box

    I have a dialog box that includes a combo box.
    For some reason the combo box shows up under the first text box. In other words, the combo box is not separate from the first field. It has the following:
    ComboBox with Sequence showing, then Enter Identifyer
    Textbox URL
    Textbox Enter Resource 1
    Textbox Enter Resource 2
    Textbox Enter Resource 3
    Textbox Enter Resource 4
    Textbox Enter Resource 5
    It's putting the combo box in the first text field...it should be
    ComboBox with Sequence showing
    URL Textbox
    Enter Identifyer Textbox
    Enter Resource 1 Textbox
    Enter Resource 2 Textbox...

    Seems the problem is in your DialogLayout2 class which must be in package dl. I tried a grid layout and got something that looks like what you described. I laid out pp with a gridbag layout.

  • Selecting item in combo box itemEditor, after passing it's dataprovider from a popup window

    Hi..
    I have a datagrid which has a combo box itemeditor in the first column. When I click on the combobox, there is an item called 'Search'. When this is selected, a pop up window appears where we can search for some contact names. The search results are populated in List component, within the pop up and on double click of any of the names from the list, all of the list content is passed on as dataprovider to the combobox itemeditor of the grid. It works fine till here. Now, how can I highlight the selected name(name on which I double click, in the list of the pop up window), as the 'selectedItem' of the combobox itemeditor? ie., as soon as I double click the name, that name should appear on that combo box. As of now, wehn I double click, the search result names are passed on as dataprovider to the combobox, but a blank entry will be selected in th combobox, instead of the selected name from teh list of the pop up window. Can you please help me out on how to achieve this? I had been cracking my head for 2days now, hasn't worked out yet for me

    Hi...
    there are two events which have been used, one is doubleclick event and the other one is on selecting the item from the list and clicking on OK button(this will be the most frequently used function, i cannot use event target event for this OK button... ) . I have attached the screen shot. Please have a look at it and let me know how can i achieve that...
    I can use custom event, but the main problem is that the inline itemeditor's details are not accessible in the code.... I can access some function from within the inline itemeditor combo box using outerDocument.myFunction() (this is something like GET). Is there a similar way, to SET the data into this itemeditor?

  • Combo box properties

    I have a form with a combo box.  What I want the combo box to do is to allow the user to select a value from Table A Field A and put the value from Table A Field B into Table B Field A.  I have made various changes to the properties for the Combo
    box and have been unable to get the behavior I want.
    The setting below takes the TableAFieldA value selected and puts the value into TableBFieldA.
    What should the properties be set to select TableAFieldA, put TableAFieldB into TableBFieldA?
    Here is how my properties are set:
    gwboolean

    I'm not sure what happened, but there's nothing for us to see...
    However, you want to double-bind the ComboBox (that's probably not a real term).  Essentially there are two layers upon which you can apply databinding to the ComboBox.  The first is through the DataSource and ValueMember properties.  These
    would point to TableA and FieldB (the DisplayMember would point to FieldA).  Once that is set, you go to the top of the properties grid for the ComboBox and expand the (DataSources) node.  Then use the dropdown arrow next to the Value property to
    select TableB as the data source and FieldA as the data member.
    This binds the list contents of the ComboBox to TableA and the selected value to TableB.  I believe that is what you are asking for.

  • Filtering my DataGridView with Combo Boxes

    Hello everyone! I have recently started working with windows form application and I must say it is really
    awsome! I have came up with a project but I came across a little problem and I hope some of you might help me!
    I have established a local database and managed to connect it to a DataGridView, awsome I can see my database
    in my windows form! I have also made 7 combo boxes, each with its strings in it, then i added a button that should filter the data grid view according to the strings the user selected in the combo boxes. My question is, how do i do that? I mean how do i make
    the button fillter my DataGridView according to the strings selected in my combo boxes?
    Hope for a quick answer, sorry for my english and lack of knowledge in windows form!

    Maybe you could go this way:
    Populate the combobox manually, first adding "All", then adding the items from industryGroupsDataSet.Tables[0].
    Add a BindingSource between companiesDataSet.Tables[0] and dataGridView1.DataSource.
    In the SelectedIndexChanged event of the combobox, alter the Filter property of the BindingSource. If the selected index is zero ("All"), set the Filter to null, otherwise set the filter to String.Format("groupID = '{0}'", cmbBxGroupFilter.SelectedValue).
    You may also have a look at these too:
