Windows Mobile devices doe not have this function at least out straight foward of the box, will require the use of a 3rd-party SMS application. PalmOS smartphones have an upping here with its templates folder but in your case you could try making SMS drafts and use those as a "group template."

Questions on Shared and Group To Do lists

A few questions:
1) I am in a Group (domain group), that was assigned a task. So I had a To Do list for that group on the left, in my To Do list screen. Well, we aren't going to assign tasks to that group anymore. The To Do list is empty. How do I remove it from the list of To Do lists on the left?
2) I have a different group queue that had a task in it. Due to a problem with the workflow, I had to terminate the process behind it. But the task is still listed in the Group To Do list. I can't do anything with it. How do I get rid of it?
3) I shared my To Do list with a different user. That user can see my Shared Queue in their To Do list on the left, as one would expect. However, they never see any of the tasks in my To Do list. I thought they should be able to see what is in my queue. Any idea why they wouldn't?

As for cleaning out those process, I already have, I think. The only option I see is "Terminate", which is what I did to start the problem in #2. I terminated the process, the task is still in the group queue. In the admin ui, the process shows as terminated. In the task search, the specific task shows as complete. However the Task card is in the Group to-do list. If you look at the Task Details on tat card, it says the process is terminated. However, there are not buttons available at all - you can't remove the task in any way I can find.

These groups are domain groups imported from active directory. So I don't control their membership.

In the menu bar click File, and select New Group. In the left column of Contacts there will be a new item called untitled group. (You can change the name.)
Next click All Contacts on the left, and drag and drop the names you want in the new group.
To send an email to the group you start a new message and type the group name in the To: field.

Remove tasks from group to-do list

Hi all,
I have been testing my workflow and have terminated all of my test processes. Now some of the tasks are still present in the Group list I can not grab them and add them to my own to-do list anymore.
How can I remove them from the Group to-do list?

You can terminate them from the adminui under Services/Process Management/Process Management.

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to group by on more than 2 columns in a List View in SharePoint 2013.
There is no out of the box way to achieve your scenario directly.
As a workaround, we can use the following method to achieve it.
First, we can insert Data View Web Parts in SharePoint Designer 2013.
It’s because the SharePoint Designer 2013 can’t support Design view, then the Data View Web Parts XSL cannot be visually manipulated.

Work Around:
On your mac:
1. Open a new email
2. Insert name of an existing group into one of the "To" fields as usual.
3. Highlight all the resulting names in the "To" entry
     [Highlight first name, and while holding shift, highlight last name and all will highlight[]
4. Copy (Command C) the highlighted emails
5. Paste (Command V) nto a pages document
6. Remove the name and anything else preceeding the first < and also the first < of only the first entry whixh will look like this:
     [email protected]>,
7. Remove the > of the last email which will look like this:
     , Jane Doe <[email protected]
8. Copy the entire altered list from the pages document
9, Go to Contact Book and click + to add a new entry
10.. Name the entry (XXX Group for iPad) or whatever you wish to call it
11. Paste all the copied altered list into any one of the email entry spaces
12. Click on "Done"
13. Create new email On iPad and click on + in any one of the "To" lines and search for "XXX Group for iPad" You cannot just key in XXX Group for iPad!!!!!!!, you must use + contact search.
14. Enter the selected iPad contact group into the "To" line.
15. All the entries will now appear in the "To" line and you are good to go.
Adding or deleting email addresses from the iPad group:
Easiest: Alter the original mac group in the usual way and repeat steps 1-14 above. It seems impossible to edit within the emai line of the iPad contact entry.
Rediculously simple once figured out.
Happy emailling, but please send Bcc so that you don't spread your groups' email addresses all over the internet for spam, viruses, and other unwanted emails. Be considerate and ask your recipients to notifiy you if they wish to be deleted from the lists you compose.

How do I (easily) Create a Group E-mail List

First I want to say that I am not a dummy. I’m pretty tech savvy, but this issue has been making me crazy for a long time. I know that what I am about to describe be has to do (probably) with the fact Mail and Contacts work separately, unlike in Windows products. The whole point of me moving to the Mac from Windows was to make things easier.
I have tried to see if there’s an easy way to create a Group, but I can’t seem to find the handle on this. I repeat, I am not a tech dummy.
Here’s the issue: Every week I send out an e-mail to a group of friends. What I normally do (since I have not found an easier way) is to go to my Send folder, find the previous week’s email, copy all the addresses and paste into the new e-mail.
On all the Help Discussion topics I see in the Apple Forums (I’ve been to many), what it says is that you go to Contacts, Create a New Group, and then click and drag e-mail addresses into the new group. I get it, and I’ve done that for other groups. But this is different.
Is there not a way to simply copy all the addresses from the previous week’s email I sent and copy that into a Group? There are too many names for me to go one by one inside the Contacts app. Moreover, I don’t know all the contacts in the prior week’s list. I’d have to go back and forth between the prior week’s e-mail and my Contacts list, and check names and e-mails, and then drag into the Group.
Please Apple, there has to be an easier way.

I have this same issue. I have over 100 email addresses that I need to add to a group. The issue is not making the group, it's getting the email addresses from Mail to Contacts.
Dragging the email addresses does nothing. You can copy the addresses, but there's nowhere to put them. You can make a VCF for an email address, but then you have to find all of them to add them to the group. How do you automate this?!
I'm astounded that there's so little support for such a common issue for which people have been asking for years.

Custom list column not showing up in View Order by or Group by dropdown list

Hi All,
I have created a custom list with a custom column called "Description". Some items in the list do not have a description. What I wanted to do is create a view where the items with a description show first, and the items with no description are
at the bottom of the list. I thought I could make a simple view that uses the Order by or Group by on the description column.
The problem I am having is the description column doesn't show up in the dropdown list for either Order by or Group by within the custom view. Can someone please tell me why this happens and if there is anything I can do to rectify this problem.

Hi,
I believe the "Description" field type is Multiple Lines of Text. Sorting doesn't allow in this field type. In order to do the sorting, you would require to create additional column like single line of text column (note that it supports only 255
chars and require to truncate the data if more than 255) and update the data using event receiver or workflow. and do the sorting with that column.

How to send mail to groups or distribution lists

Ok so what appears to be a rather large problem with the Apple Mail Server. the complete lack of being able to create a group in workgroup manager and then have that group as an email account that when email is sent to the group name the mail is then sent on to all the members.
Now i know you can do it with postfix alias's but thats not the most user friendly way for users to administer their groups and DL's. Now OS X Server does have mailman mainling lists installed and this will do exactly what i want but it needs a few changes to stop behaving like a list and behave like a group or DL.

its very dodgy but hopefully gets the information accross. I hope apple address this issue in 10.5 as this is a serious issue when trying to incorporate a apple mail server in an enterprise environment.

Sadly enough this is still behaving like a mailing list and it doesn't show any corelation to acting as a DL and working off of a system defined group.
There is little hope that apple will address this issue unless there is sufficient demand (there isn't at this time) and an available GNU GPL software solution already exists because they are not going to spend the time/money to create one from scratch.
Since mailman is python based it should be fairly easy to add the functionality you require by hacking the mailman source and have it act on group ID's rather than obtain a list of users.
If you tar up your existing /usr/share/mailman and /var/mailman (so you can restore when you're done), then edit the '.pyc' files in /usr/share/mailman to get the functionality you require, once you have this, tar up the /usr/share/mailman, send it to me, restore your backed up settings, send me the modified mailman archive and I'll fix it so that you can have both functionalities in mailman from the create command and a seperate interface to access the LD lists for manipulation.
I just don't want to do all of the work.

Hi,
You need to do it by profile option setup.
Setup the profile option "PO: Default Requisition Grouping" to "Requisition" at the site level.
You have two options - "Default" and "Requisition".

Assign Group permission to list item using client object model

I am trying to add the list item and assign the permission to the list item by using SP 2010 client object model. The problem which i am facing that when i assign the group as a permission to the item, by automatically the limited access permission
is added to the group. Please find the steps which i have followed,
Step-1: Break role inheritance.

After adding the group successfully to the list item, i checked the group permission and it contains the value as "Contribute,Limited Access" to the site level and "Contribute" to the list item. Please guide me how to avoid to create Contribute,Limited

When I create the group and assign contribute permission, the group has the permission at the site level(to see the permission, click group and click view Group Permission). I have added the list item and break the role inheritance permission
and given the unique permission by providing group as a permission to the list item. After providing the permission, the group permission at the site level changed to "Contribute, Limited Access". I dont know how contribute permission changed to contribute,
limited access.
I found the workaround to fix this issue. I created the group and create the folder in the shared document library by using client object model. Due to facing some issue by providing the permission using client object model, i have created the event receiver
to the document library and using server object model, i can able to assign the approprate group permission.
