Channel-group mode for VSS MEC link to WLC
Hello
I have a Cisco 5508 WLC with LAG enabled - this LAG connects to a single VSS chassis (VSS etherchannel mode is "on" as per the WLC documentation)
I'm looking to spread this LAG across both the VSS chassis - Cisco's VSS best practice document below states that for Multi Chassis Etherchannel "Do not use on and off options with PAgP or LACP or Trunk protocol negotiation"
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-6500-virtual-switching-system-1440/109547-vss-best-practices.html
Is anyone else connecting a WLC LAG to a VSS MEC and if so what channel-group mode are they using?
Thanks
AndyHi,
I have never connected a WLC to VSS, but WLC should be threaded just as an access switch and use LACP or PAgP to connect to both VSS switches.

Change channel group mode without down time.
Hi All,
I'm trying to find a way to change the channel group mode on our access switch from mode on to mode active.
The port on access switch and core switch are configured like this : channel group X mode on
The goal is to change this config to channel group X mode active with no down time of the switch.
Please let me know if you have any ideas to do that.
Fabien.I don't think its possible to change a Channel Group Mode without downtime.
Changing from On to Active will cause the port to start sending LACP messages in order to form an LACP Port-Channel.
As you are taking a link down, I suspect spanning-tree will also try and reconverge.
The downtime should be fairly minimal though, do you have a maintenance window? -
Group mode with 600 rt problem
Having trouble with the 600 rt in group mode. I have two 600 rt's and a 5d mk3....I have been trying to use these in group mode with limited success. I was trying to use the groups in ettl mode. My on camera flash is the master and the off camera is set to group B. I adjust the master flash compensation right on the camera control. I kept it at no compensation...now I adjust the compensation on the slave via the master flash panel....it took almost two neg stops to keep it from blowing out the subject which is a white bowl. It definitely does dial down the slave....but the settings never actually show up as changed on the back of the slave lcd. When I set the slave to manual mode and change the settings...they DO change on the back of its lcd...is this normal?

[Project Pro 2013] User Custom Field w/ Formula does not calculates on Group Tasks
This issue happens only on Project 2013. When I make a formula (using Duration, Cost, Number, etc...) on a custom field and set "Use formula" option in "Calculation for task and group summary rows",
works fine without groups, on resume tasks. But when I Group the tasks, the group tasks values disappear.
When I open the same file on Project 2010, it works correctly.
Thanks in advance.Thank you for the effort. This problem is a bit tricky and hard to explain without images or files.
I'll try to explain using your example:
- I do not coded my summary tasks with the value in the "Text1" field and
- I do not want to maintain hierarchy on groups like you show.
1. On "No Group" mode, the summary tasks works fine. All summary tasks shows the values calculated by the formula. Summary tasks are not the problem.
2. However, when you group the tasks by Text1, the Group Tasks (the colored ones that appear on group mode: Group: a, b and c) do not show the values calculated by the formula, even if you set to "use formula" on summary and group tasks.
3. When you open the same file on Project 2010 (default configs), group tasks values appears (values calculated for the groups of the detail tasks: a, b, c). If your Duration1 field stays the same or disappear, change some values and refresh the field to check
the formula is working.
4. If you see that everything are working correctly so far, try this on your file:
4.1. Maintain your tasks grouped by Text1.
4.2. Add three Fields: "Duration2", "Duration3" and "Duration4".
4.3. On every detail tasks, enter 2 days for Duration2, 3 days for Duration3.
4.4 Set Duration2 and Duration3 to "show Average" value on the resume and group tasks. Set the Duration4 to "use formula".
4.5. Create on Duration4 field a simple formula, like [Duration2]+[Duration3], or [Duration2]/[Duration3].
4.6. See that the formula works fine the detail tasks (Duration4 = 5 days).
4.7. Now the problem: The group tasks shows nothing. Duration4 should be calculated (average duration2: 2 days + avg duration3: 3 days = 5 days).
4.8. Save the file and open on Project 2010. If the resume tasks on Duration4 continues to show nothing. Refresh the field by clicking right button on field and going to "Custom field" and pressing OK.
See that Duration4 are calculated on Project 2010 correctly, but not on 2013 version. That is the problem
Thanks again. I hope it helps. -
Object-group with network-object containing an IP address range
Hello,
Does the ASA treat an object-group with a network-object containing a range of IP addresses as a netmask? For example, I can apply this configuration without the ASA throwing any errors though the configuration calls for a 'net mask':
object-group network test
network-object 192.168.0.0 192.168.63.255
network-object-group mode commands/options:
A.B.C.D Enter an IPv4 network mask
sh run ob id test
object-group network test
network-object 192.168.0.0 192.168.63.255
I found that in the documentation it requires a netmask as oppose to a range. Is this a bug in the code? I am running code version 8.0(5)23 on a 5520. If this is not a bug how does the ASA treat this type of configuration when applied to an access list? When I ran a quick packet trace and denied access from that range it looks like the ASA doesn't read that configuration properly. Thank you.
-JohnHello,
Thank you for your replies. In code version 8.0(5)23, it appears I am able to define a "range" of IP addresses as in:
192.168.0.0 192.168.63.255 as opposed to defining a range with a netmask like 192.168.0.0 255.255.192.0.
With the "range" of IP address applied to the "object-group network test" with sub command "network-object 192.168.0.0 192.168.63.255" the ASA does not pick up on said "range" when this object group is applied to a DENY access list. It only reads it properly when the netmask is attached, which is the correct configuration, as in: "network-object 192.168.0.0 255.255.192.0".
To clarify, I mean range as in 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.63.255.
Hope this helps to understand. I am just curious as to why this is even able to be applied in such a way or if it is a bug in this particular code version? I can also confirm that this can be done in code version 8.4(2). See below snippets of my configuration in the 8.4(2) code version:
access-list 101 line 3 extended deny ip object-group testmask any 0x577f55a8
access-list 101 line 3 extended deny ip 192.168.0.0 192.168.63.255 any (hitcnt=0) 0x0623b0c4
access-list 101 line 4 extended permit tcp any any eq 89 (hitcnt=1) 0x36f1e5cd
Packet trace results in allowing the "range" of IP address:
Result:
input-interface: outside
input-status: up
input-line-status: up
output-interface: dmztest
output-status: up
output-line-status: up
Action: allow
Now with the "correct" configuration:
access-list 101 line 3 extended deny ip object-group testmask any 0x577f55a8
access-list 101 line 3 extended deny ip 192.168.0.0 255.255.192.0 any (hitcnt=1) 0xa31c6bbd
access-list 101 line 4 extended permit tcp any any eq 89 (hitcnt=1) 0x36f1e5cd
Result:
input-interface: outside
input-status: up
input-line-status: up
output-interface: dmztest
output-status: up
output-line-status: up
Action: drop
Drop-reason: (acl-drop) Flow is denied by configured rule
Thank you.

WLC - AP Groups - Multicast - Bonjour - Apple TVv3
Good Morning
first off - Should start off by saying I have followed the Apple Bonjour deployment guide [except for interface group] portion
I have searched high and low, here and there to no avail.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_tech_note09186a0080bb1d7c.shtml
I am aware that the bonjour gateway IOS may or may not come out in Oct/Nov 2012, which maybe my only option at this point.
Is this not working because of my AP groups setup or have I misssed something
I can only get bonjour to work if multicast - unicast mode is selected, but our network slowly grinds to a halt, so it is not an option
when I first connect to the wireless I see 1 bonjour device for about 3 minutes and then disappears.
I can not see the appletv at all with an ipad, airplay does not appear at all.
We have the following setup.
2 campuses - Campus 2 is simular setup, but WLCs higher model and ios 7.2 and clients and subnets are double
Campus 1
2 WLC 4404 ios 7.0.230.0
30 AP groups mapped to 30 Interfaces using subnets with /23 bit subnetmasks
multicast - multicast is set with multicast addresses of
controller 1 239.239.5.1 and
controller 2 239.239.5.2
multicast is enabled
IGMPsnooping as well
On Switch multicast routing is enabled
all AP group subnets and Mgmt vlans are PIM enabled dense mode

Single or separate users owning multiple Oracle Resource Groups?
Being an infrastructure DBA, I have a question which I'm trying to sort out with my sys admin:
- We're trying to setup multiple Oracle 11g (non-RAC) instances on a two-node Solaris 10 cluster.
- each 'database' would have its own resource group, filesystem, binaries, and listener
- In order to fully separate the two instances, the SA actually gave us two different oracle accounts to control each resource group.
ie. a different oracle user (ie. oracle1, oracle2, oracle3) owns each resource group (/rg1, /rg2, /rg3)
- to patch/startup/shutdown each instance, we have to login as a separate user
- no user can run/touch the other's files (they're in completely different groups (dba/oinstall, dba2/oinstal2, dba3/oinstal3)
- to run patch/installing, we use a separate inventorypointer flag which points to that particular db's oraInventory (ie. ./runInstaller -invPtrLoc /var/opt/oracle/oraInst.loc.<resource_group_name>)
I asked why couldn't one user own all resource groups, and was told:
...Oracle uses the shared memory, semaphores and queues to exchange information. Each IPC object has an identifier and access information, similar to files (owner, ,group, mode). If you use the single oracle account in different RGs, you or system might accidentally destroy the IPC object which belongs to other Resource Group.
Is this true? I could have sworn I've seen other solaris setups (albeit with Veritas Resource Groups) setups which have multiple resource groups owned/managed by a single oracle user, but I don't know enough about semaphores and shared memory to truly understand his argument.
The way I was hoping to work would be:
- a single oracle user owning several resource groups
- each resource group mapping to a filesystem tree, ie:
/home
/oracle
/rg1
/opt
/oracle
/rg2
/opt
/oracle
/rg3
/opt
/oracle- shared /var/opt/oracle/oratab
- to switch between instances, the oracle user simply does the same '. oraenv' command as regular.
I understand it can be done, just that I need something to counter my SA's argument that there would be potential IPC/shared memory/semaphore collisions.I've marked the question as answered, to a degree: I can agree that there are successful implementations out there with one person running multiple solaris zones, I just couldn't explain it to the SA in an articulate manner. I've gone to Oracle Metalink with a service request and will post references to the notes that the support person gave me on the subject. It's good for research in this area:
Note 15654.1 TECH: Calculating Oracle's SEMAPHORE Requirements
Note 70688.1 Location and Display of kernel parameters - Solaris
Note 33244.1 SOLARIS: Shared Memory and Semaphore Kernel Parameters on Solaris (SPARC) Servers
Note 153961.1 Semaphores and Shared Memory - An Overview
We've ruled out local zones at the time, for other implementation reasons. What I think we're looking at is the trade-off between Sysadmin's management complexity (separate zones) and DB Admin's management complexity (separate users). -
IPS mode with IDSM-2 module on Cat6K
Hi,
I have installed the IDSM-2 module on the Catalyst 6509 switch, now I was refering to the configuration guide for IPS 6.0 there are multiple modes I can configure like inline, inline vlan pair, Promiscuous & vlan group mode.. so I'm thinking which one would be the best solution...
The catalyst 6509 is acting as the CORE/Distribution with multiple Vlan's (around 20 vlans) configured, and customer wants the IPS to be deployed in such a way that it covers the traffic from all the vlans..
Also note that there is a redundant Cat6509 switch which also has got the IDSM-2 module installed, so can these both IDSM-2 modules be installed in active/standby or active/active combination...
can someone through some lights on the same please...

Vijay.A sensor can enter bypass mode for several reasons, including, but not limited to:
1) Analysis Engine reconfiguration
2) Global Correlation updates
3) Daily Signature DB self purg
4) sensorApp failure
Most of these reasons are benign. I have written Supportability Enhancement CSCtg69012 so that each bypass log will show the reason for entering bypass mode.
The bug is available via the CCO Bug Toolkit: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/action.do?hdnAction=searchBugs.
You may review the bug and click on the "Save Bug" button at the bottom of the page to receive email updates as changes are made to the bug's state.
To fully diagnose your issue, I suggest opening a TAC case where we will request a "show tech," including debug level logs. This will allow us to see what is triggering the sensor to enter bypass mode.
Thank you,

Difference bwt Group and Rptcurrency dimension
Hi All
How to use GROUP dimentions in currency translation. what is the difference between rptcurrency and Group dimension.
I am not using Consolidation,But can i use the Group dimension in the currency translation
Can someone through light on this .Yes got some idea Raghu. thanks
what i am tring to do is :
I want to test the currency translation in the Group mode. not in a rpt currency mode as mentioned in the note : 1254330. for my planning applicaiton.
1) I am able to do the currency translation from LC to Rpt currency in Rptcurrency mode.
2) How can i perform the same in the group mode. what steps do i need to maintian in the Group dimensioin.
3) Can i remove the Rptcurrency dimension and use the Group dimension in my planning application.
4) If i use the Group dimension does it work same as the Rpt currency dimesnion in my planning application.
I am bit confused with the properties invloved in the group dimension. how can they be used for my currency translation.
Thanks for response

IPS 45xx/43xx/42xx appliance and Catalyst 6500 Inline Mode issues
Hello to everyone!
We have recently got our new IPS 4510 appliance and for now there is a task to develop a connection scheme to our backbone multilayer switch (Catalyst 6500).
There are several server's and user's VLANs connected to 6500.
6500 performs inter-vlan routing.
The main task is to "insert" IPS appliance between traffic path from any VLAN to server's VLANs.
The additional task is to provide failover in "fail-open" manner (We have only one 4510 appliance. So if 4510 fails then traffic should continue passing without inspections).
As I understood from this document https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-12206 the only way to implement Inline Mode when using multilayer switch is to "take out" default gateway address for inspected subnet on the other VLAN's SVI.
If we replace IDSM-2 with IPS appliance I suppose we can use hardware bypass feature as a failover measure (in case if IPS fails then traffic between bridged VLANs will still be forwarded).
But what if there are several VLANs that should be monitored?
As I understand in such schema we will need to use addtional interface-inline-pair for each monitored VLAN.
But what if we have 20 VLANs for servers and 50 VLANs for users?
Can using of VLAN-group mode handle this problem?
I am not sure but using of VLAN-groups cannot provide bridging between two different VLANs. Am I right?
And will using of VLAN-group make hardware-bypass feature useless?
I tryed to simulate the first scenario in Cisco Packet Tracer (i used a bridge to simulate an IPS appliance in interface-pair inline mode):
May be this is a bug of Packet Tracer but traffic went through IPS only if it was sent from VLAN 10 to VLAN100.
The return traffic from VLAN 100 to VLAN 10 went through the Catalyst directly.
When Catalyst recieved the frame it said:
"The frame destination MAC address matches the MAC address of the active VLAN interface."
After that it decapsulates the PDU from the Ethernet frame and send IP packet directly to VLAN 10.
Does it mean that there is a need to change SVI's mac address?
Thanks for any advice in advance. Here is my guess of how to realise my scenario:
Config on Cat6k should looks something like this:
ip routing
interface Ge1/0
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 10-12,110-112
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate
switchport vlan mapping enable
switchport vlan mapping 110 10
switchport vlan mapping 111 11
switchport vlan mapping 112 12
interface Ge1/1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 10-12
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate
interface vlan 2
ip address 10.0.2.1 255.255.255.0
interface vlan 3
ip address 10.0.3.1 255.255.255.0
interface Vlan4
ip address 10.0.4.1 255.255.255.0
interface Vlan110
ip address 10.0.10.1 255.255.255.0
interface Vlan111
ip address 10.0.11.1 255.255.255.0
interface Vlan112
ip address 10.0.12.1 255.255.255.0
no interface Vlan10
no interface Vlan11
no interface Vlan12
IPS should operate in VLAN-group inline mode. We could separate traffic by VLAN tag to inspect with different virtual sensors or we use one VS for all trunk traffic.
Traffic routed from any VLAN to VLANs 10-12 should go through IPS.
In case if IPS gets powered off - hardware-bypass feature should provide bridging between trunk ports.
In theory it should work.
Remained to test it in practice

[iPhone] Grouped Table View using SQLITE?
I am filling my table views from a SQLITE table. I am trying to get it to display in grouped mode, but I am unsure on how to handle this using SQLITE. I can get the grouped mode to work, but I can't get it to show any headers, it is just one large block with all the returned results.
Anyone been able to get this to work or might have some advice?
Thanks.Beers is correct. This is easy to accomplish though, if you have your recordset fed into an array on SELECT.

I try to configure a Cisco 5508 Wireless controller and 25 Air-lap1041 to use as VoIP and data. I read documents, manuals, etc, but the AP doesn't charge the configuration, or not conect with the Wireless Controller, why? No Radius server present, only WPA security.howto, please...
I try to put a static ip in the LAP, with lwapp or capwap command, (LWAPP/CAPWAP ap ip address direccion mascara) and the AP returns "You should configure Domain and Name Server from controller CLI/GUI." and i can't change the name of the AP (Command is disabled).

Hola:
I buy a gigabit switch. I connect the service-port to gigabit switch, and laptop to gigabit switch. I used 192.168.1.x ip address (192.168.1.157 to service-port and 192.168.1.233 to wired port on laptop, well, the laptop has two ip adress, 192.168.1.233 and 209.165.200.2, and the laptop works ok. Ping to 209.165.200.230 -ip address of management interface- and ping to 209.165.200.203 -ip address for AP, is assigned by DHCP of WLC. And i connect the ap to gigabit switch, and the wlc assigns well an ip direction.
I post the run-config and sysinfo log. The gigabit switch is tp-link model tl-sg1005d, no configuration.
Before the logs, I see this message from AP:
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Hola:
He comprado un switch gigabit.
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Un saludo

[SOLVED] Postfix smtpd exits when using dovecot SASL auth
I've been trying to configure my mail server with dovecot SASL authentication. I've been following the guide here to set this up. However, when I telnet to the server on port 25, I get this in the postfix logs:
Aug 4 21:51:00 localhost postfix/smtpd[2316]: connect from unknown[192.168.1.27]
Aug 4 21:51:00 localhost postfix/smtpd[2316]: fatal: no SASL authentication mechanisms
Aug 4 21:51:01 localhost postfix/master[2312]: warning: process /usr/lib/postfix/smtpd pid 2316 exit status 1
Aug 4 21:51:01 localhost postfix/master[2312]: warning: /usr/lib/postfix/smtpd: bad command startup -- throttling
After enabling debug logging in dovecot, I get this at the same time in the dovecot logs:
Aug 04 21:51:00 auth: Debug: Loading modules from directory: /usr/lib/dovecot/modules/auth
Aug 04 21:51:00 auth: Debug: auth client connected (pid=0)

Last edited by ryukafalz (2012-08-08 15:10:31)Oh, my apologies, I'd forgotten about the -n flag. In any case, the lines you quoted from my config are for smtp client auth, which I'm not using. The three lines you provided are for smtp server auth, and they're already in my config. My fault, it's easy to miss that when wading through that huge output I provided.
