Groups and Totals

Hi
I have created a report in Microsoft Visual Studio (BIDS) and need some assistance in completing this.
Looking at the output image attached, under the column heading WHA, for July I have three entries of value 2. I am using an expression
=MonthName(Month(Fields!DateOfComplaint.Value),False) to change the actual dates to Month Names.
Using the example for July I think the reason that there are three rows is that each of these represent 3 different dates in July.
What I want to show is July and every month only once with the total value for each month. So in the case of July I want it to show one row for July with WHA a total of 6.
Similarly for August this should show August in one row and CONTRACTOR equal to 5
Any assistance would be very much appreciated

I made the changes as you suggested and it works as required. Many thanks for that as I didn't know you could group by an expression.
However it sorts them alphabetically
August
July
September
instead of by date:

August
September
How would this be fixed

then for display in textbox use
=MonthName(Month(Fields!DateOfComplaint.Value),False)
and for sorting
=Month(Fields!DateOfComplaint.Value)
in Ascending order
If there are data for multiple years you need to include year also in sorting as well as grouping
ie
=Year(Fields!DateOfComplaint.Value)

    The calculations are mth2 ,mth3 and mth4 where mth2 is a field called period 2 - period 1, mth3 is period 3 - period 2 etc.
    My reports shows as

    Is it possible for me to group the data so it shows

    Thanks for the reply, however I get a nested aggregate functions are not allowed error when I try to SUM because the calculation I have is
    DECODE(Period,3,In Month Actual,0)
    That is if the period is 3 give me that figure otherwise 0.
    To Create the monthly change I have
    DECODE(Period,3,In Month Actual,0)-DECODE(Period,2,In Month Actual,0)

  • How to do the ALV report output in groups and caluculate the tOTALS(URGENT

    Hi
    In my ALV report output .I have to group the output based on the DAYS field
    0-10 days in one group
    10-30 days in one group
    above 30 days one group
    There is also a field by name "AMOUNT" in my output.
    I have to calculate SUBTOTALs at the end of every group and at the end of the report i should caluculate GRAND TOTAL.
    Please remember that i should not use any any BLOCKED ALVs and for Totals i should not use the SYMBOLS provided in the application toolbar of the report

    If you want a total at any group-level, go to the particular group in the data model, insert a summary column in the group, and select
    Reset At > appropriate Group Name
    For report level summaries, you must create the summary column outside of all groups.

  • Grand Totals functionality under Group and Sort

    Hello community,
    Does anyone know if there is a solution for rolling up text fields in the summary line item (under the Show Grand Totals functionality under Group and Sort)? I can only find that date fields and formula fields summarize. I would like to be able to summarize all the data in one line items so I wont have a really long schedule and I can present to my end users accordingly.

    Hope I understand,  if you have the groups setup, you should be able to (CRXI instructions) right click on the item in the Details line, insert a summary, you can select sum, add the sum to the group.  For the locations, insert a summary count, and add that to the groups.
    What I do sometimes, is select the option to add summary to all groups, Perhaps change the font to red, I can see the totals
    I want, and just suppress the other groups.  Just a quick and dirty way to do the totals.

    I am making an SSRS report in following format:

                    DEPARTMENT
    Division contain Sector and Sector contain Department so resulting report becomes something like following. A figure is being shown against each Department and I want to show SUBTOTAL of each Sector right against Sector column (by adding all Department coming
    under it) and then show TOTAL of Division (by adding all Department or all Sector) at the end. How do I show these totals?

    To add totals to a report
        Switch to Design view.
        Right-click the data region cell that contains the field [LineTotal], and click Add Total.
        This adds a row with a sum of the dollar amount for each order.
        Right-click the cell that contains the field [Qty], and click Add Total.
        This adds a sum of the quantity for each order to the totals row.
        In the empty cell to the left of Sum[Qty], type the label "Order Total".
    To add a daily total to a report
        Right-click the Order cell, point to Add Total, and click After.
        This adds a new row containing sums of the quantity and dollar amount for each day, and the label "Total" in the Order column.
        Type the word Daily before the word Total in the same cell, so it reads Daily Total.
        Select the Daily Total cell, the two Sum cells and the empty cell between them.
    To add a grand total to a report
        Right-click the Date cell, point to Add Total, and click After.
        This adds a new row containing sums of the quantity and dollar amount for the entire report, and the Total label in the Date column.
        Type the word Grand before the word Total in the same cell, so it reads Grand Total.

  • CR - giving total transaction count for few groups and 0 for few groups.

    For the column "No of First Call Resolution" I have to count no of interactions based on the Interaction Result, the formula is
    COUNT(Interaction_ID) WHERE INTERACTION_RESULT = 'FCR'
    For which, I wrote the below formula
    If {14CICustomerInteractions_query.Interaction Result} = "FCR" then Count ({14CICustomerInteractions_query.Interaction_ID})
    I have 33,232 interactions on the particular day I selected. When I try to group up and do the calculations it is giving total transaction count for few groups and 0 for few groups.

    What field is the report grouped on?
    If you wish to find the no of interactions based on some condition and display it for every group, then here's what you need to do:
    1) Create this formula and place this on the details section:
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar c;
    If {14CICustomerInteractions_query.Interaction Result} = "FCR" then
    c := c + 1;
    2) Create another formula and place this one on the Group Footer:
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar c;
    3) Create this formula to reset the variable and place this on the Group Header:

    numbervar c := 0;

    You can implement this in BEx using concept of virtual characteristics and BADI which will be a little bit complex. Its better go for WAD.

    Background:
    1) Report SQL is created with unions to have detail lines continue on a page, until it reaches page footer or report footer, rather than using  subreports.    A subreport report is now essentially a group1a, group1b, etc. (containing column headers and other data within the the report    with their respective detail lines).  I had multiple subreports and each subreport became one union.
    Created and tested, already:
    1) I have calculated @TotalLineForEachOfTheSameGroup, now I need to sum of the individual same group totals to get the total line count on a page.
    Issue:
    1) I need this to create break on a certain line before, it dribbles in to a pre-printed area.
    Other Ideas Appreciated:
    1) Groups/detail lines break inconveniently(dribble) into the pre-printed area, looking for alternatives for above situation.

  • Step by step Create a Desktop Administrator to have full and total control over desktops only

    I have been trying to setup a Desktop Admin so that the group has full and total control over all desktops. I am using SCCM 2012 SP1. I have found very little documentation that explains in detail on how to set this up. I have read about role based access,
    but found nothing that explains in detail how to setup an administrator that can do everything but only with desktop machines, not servers.

    Great link John, thank you for that.  I did follow the instructions to a "T", but the Desktop Admin is still having problems.  He is trying to image a new machine (so it is not in the collection yet). When he tries to import it by using the "Import
    Computer Information Wizard", he gets to the "Choose Target Collection" tab, selects the "Browse" button, but cannot see any collections.  I have verified (using the instructions that Matthew provided - thank you) that he is a "Full Administrator" for
    the Desktop collections and folders where they are located.
    Could you please tell me what I am missing?

  • WiSM redundancy, mobility groups and RF groups

    we would like to implement the following:
    - Support for about 2000 LAP's
    - 1 x Catalyst 6509
    - 1 x Sup 720
    - 7 x WiSM's
    What I'm interesting is are the following points:
    1. I thought that we would build the switch completly redudant, so we have to wlan switches (switch A and B) with 7 WiSM's eatch. So I can garanty a N+N redundancy --> each LAP's has a primary controller on switch A and it's secondary controller on switch B. The LAP's can be splitted on the two switches, but for your understanding there is a 1:1 redundancy. What do you think of this design, is the too much or is this appropriate?
    2. As I know you can build up a mobility group of a maximum of 24 controllers or 12 WiSM's. I would put only these controllers in a mobility group, where Layer 2 roaming can occure.
    3. But what is about the RF groups - there is a maximum of 1000 LAP's, so I can put only 3 WiSM's in one group. But this would not work form me, then I would have 2 WiSM's on switch A and only 1 WiSM on switch B in a RF group (not a 1:1 redundancy). First is it possible to put WiSM-A and WiSM-B into different RF groups, I think so because they are logically splitted, aren't they?
    And what RF group design would be best (just as a reference)? I thought that it would make sense to form a RF group for each of the seven pairs (1 WiSM on switch A and 1 WiSM on switch B) for redundancy? What do you think of that approach?
    4. So I would have 1 mobility group and 7 RF groups. Or do you recommend to form the mobility groups like the RF groups? But what happens with Layer 2 roaming in that case?
    I'm sorry for the long and messy text, but I hope you can see my design questions?

    It sounds like you already have some good replies. Personally I like N+1 redundancy, but that is a designers choice. One thing I should point out is that the 6500 can only support 5 WiSM cards each. In this case a 4 WiSM x 3 chassis option would give your more spare capacity with only 12 total cards. The lower WiSM cost (12 vs 14) would help offset the cost of the extra chassis. You could also support 2400 APs with 8 WiSM cards even if one switch is down.
    Not too long ago Cisco added the ability to set the priority of APs so your critical ones would join a controller and the less critical ones would go down if a controller failed and there were no redundancy. That is something to keep in mind when designing wireless. You may not need redundancy for all APs and that could affect your design and costs.

    Hi friends,
    I have an employee interactive report with group by job name and also showing the salary sub-total for each and every job(group by).
    I have an requirement like to highlight the sub-total for each and every job with a background color so that the user can identify the sub-total with the color, and also whether it is possible to display an overall total @ last in the report with a label named "Total Salary" in which it calculates the overall salary is also to be highlightened with the background color.
    Also is it possible to display a text "Sub-total" besides each and every salary sub-total  of job(group by). Currently if we display a sum for the salary then im getting the total's but with out a text named total.
    Since i can see the highlighted feature in interactive report but im not sure how to apply it for the sub-total and total column.

    But that Total region color dint change.The code for style should be in "Form HTML Element Attributes". However, this changes the background color only for the Total value not for the whole row.
    If you want to change for the whole row, you need to change the template that is selected for the region.
    I changed the region template in your application to "Borderless Region" and made the changes to the "Borderless Region" template, it now shows the background color for Total Value.

    If you got your subtotals to work than getting your grand total shouldn't be difficult at all. Your grand total column summaries should be one grouping above where your subtotal column summaries reside. I am guessing this will put them at the report level. Meaning they will not be in a group, just free floating in your data model. Good luck.

    Function Group creation -
           A function group is a program that contains function modules. With each R/3 system, SAP supplies more than 5,000 pre-existing function groups.
         In total, they contain more than 30,000 function modules. If the functionality you require is not already covered by these SAP-supplied function modules, you can also create your own function groups and function modules.
          We can put all the relevant function modules under one function group and all the global variables can be declared in this FG.
    FG Creation:
    1)     Function group can be created in SE80. There choose the 'Function Group' from the list of objects.
    2)    Then give a name for ur function group (starts with Y or Z) and press ENTER.
    3)   The click 'YES' in the create object dialog box and give a short desc. for this FG and save.
    Function Module:
                 A function module is the last of the four main ABAP/4 modularization units. It is very similar to an external subroutine in these ways:
    Both exist within an external program.
    Both enable parameters to be passed and returned.
    Parameters can be passed by value, by value and result, or by reference.
    The major differences between function modules and external subroutines are the following:
    Function modules have a special screen used for defining parameters-parameters are not defined via ABAP/4 statements.
    tables work areas are not shared between the function module and the calling program.
    Different syntax is used to call a function module than to call a subroutine.
    Leaving a function module is accomplished via the raise statement instead of check, exit, or stop.
    A function module name has a practical minimum length of three characters and a maximum length of 30 characters. Customer function modules must begin with Y_ or Z_. The name of each function module is unique within the entire R/3 system.
    Defining Data within a Function Module
    Data definitions within function modules are similar to those of subroutines.
    Within a function module, use the data statement to define local variables that are reinitialized each time the function module is called. Use the statics statement to define local variables that are allocated the first time the function module is called. The value of a static variable is remembered between calls.
    Define parameters within the function module interface to create local definitions of variables that are passed into the function module and returned from it (see the next section).
    You cannot use the local statement within a function module. Instead, globalized interface parameters serve the same purpose. See the following section on defining global data to learn about local and global interface parameters.
    Defining the Function Module Interface
    To pass parameters to a function module, you must define a function module interface. The function module interface is the description of the parameters that are passed to and received from the function module. It is also simply known as the interface. In the remainder of this chapter, I will refer to the function module interface simply as the interface.
    To define parameters, you must go to one of two parameter definition screens:
    1) Import/Export Parameter Interface
    2) Table Parameters/Exceptions Interface
    Then in the FM interface screen, give the following
    1) Import parameters
    2) Export parameters
    3) Changing parameters
    Then give
    1) Define internal table parameters
    2) Document exceptions
    You enter the name of the parameter in the first column and the attributes of the parameter in the remaining columns. Enter one parameter per row.
    Import parameters are variables or field strings that contain values passed into the function module from the calling program. These values originate outside of the function module and they are imported into it.
    Export parameters are variables or field strings that contain values returned from the function module. These values originate within the function module and they are exported out of it.
    Changing parameters are variables or field strings that contain values that are passed into the function module, changed by the code within the function module, and then returned. These values originate outside the function module. They are passed into it, changed, and passed back.
    Table parameters are internal tables that are passed to the function module, changed within it, and returned. The internal tables must be defined in the calling program.
    An exception is a name for an error that occurs within a function module. Exceptions are described in detail in the following section.
    Syntax for the call function Statement
    The following is the syntax for the call function statement.
