GX720 - Return to Factory Configuration

Hi Guys
I did a few searches but could not find an answer to my issue. Hoping someone where may know the answer.
I have a brand new (only out of the box for 2 days) GX720. It is for my son for christmas, I got it out of the box to charge the battery and make sure everything was present. I then stupidly decided to install XP on it for him  . I should have left it alone (I know enough to be dangerous but not enough to fix this) because the XP install failed and it will not boot into Vista anymore. It runs through the bios checks and then reboots itself.
I do not want to give my son a 'broken' Christmas present, is there a way I can restore the laptop to the factory configuration so that he gets in 'as new'? I have tried the F3 recovery option and the same thing happens, the laptop just loops in the bios check and then reboots.
My ASUS G70 comes with a restore disk that wipes the hard drive and installs the factory image back on it, but I could not find such a disk in the box. There is a driver CD but I cannot boot from it and there are two blank disks that say on them 'reserved for recovery' which I assume are for burning a revocery image of the laptop once you have your own applications installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated ... I do not want my son to think I wrecked his Christmas present.
