Handset problems

I have 5  SPA 504g and am experiencing some frustrating problems with just one device.
Pressing the headset button, or speaker buttonl button will not properly end a call. For example if I answered the call using headset, I would normally push the headset button to end the call and the light would turn off. Now, the light turns off but I have to press the line key on the right side of the LCD to actually end the call.
Similarly, pressing the voicemail button would normally dial voicemail with speakerphone. Now it just dials voicemail and I have to manually press speaker phone or headset button.
Normally when you pickup the handset, you would hear a dial tone and be prompted for the number. But nothing happens when I lift my handset
If I dial out and liftthe handset, there is 2 way audio, but hanging up the handset does not end the call, again I have to press the line key on the right side of the LCD.
Hardware ver is 1.0.1 (0001)
Software version 7.5.5
I have factory reset the device and I still encounter these problems. This unit isn't even 2 years old.

Well, the issues are mostly resolved magically without me doing anything.
But I am still getting these issues where my phone is practically having a seizure. The device lcd wakes up on its own and the lcd changes as if I'm about to dial a number, then it goes back to normal. But this happens many times in a row, and quite fast.
When i peek over at the syslog you can see the call state being changed at a ridiculous
[0]CC:NewCallState 0/6
[0]CC:NewCallState 6/0
Now, I do have several devices on the network and all using the same syslog, so I don't know how to tell which entry is for which device. But when I see the lcd spazzing out like I described, then the syslog console spewing out those 2 callstates, it looks pretty obvious what's going on.
I just now enabled the debugging, and it happened just once after doing so while writing this, but it didnt look much different than when debug was off.
The events below and above occured around 8:50-9:00AM PST.

I received a phone call from a customer near the end of writing this. All of a sudden the call ended. This happened earlier and I thought the customer hung up earlier (before I was capturing) and when I tried calling back the lcd would say invalid number. I had to call the customer back from my cellphone.
Well, when it happened again this time. I was a little more suspicious about the invalid error. So I went to another desk and called the customer no problem (same model spa504).
When I can figure out how to properly anonymize my packet captures and fulll syslog I'll post them. Hopefully by the end of today.

  • E63 Bluetooth Handset Problem

Friends I just purchased Nokia E63 Handset. At first sight I was in love with this phone and it worked fine for around 3-4 days. After 3-4 days suddenly 100% battery drained and the handset switched off (thanks god at Night). This might be due to multipule problems hence right now I am not too much worried about this.
But more surprisengly My bluetooth handset started giving problems. It connects and disconnects auto and keeps doing that after every 10sec or so. Moreover Voice over Bluetooth is not clear. As far as Bluetooth is concern it is working fine with CDMA 6265. My Bluetooth Handset is : BH-200
I am a simple user I just need a Phone with good bluetooth handset and as simple as Nokia Though, I know E63 is not for me but still I liked it (look wise). Can someone please help how to overcome of this bluetooth problem. As I can not survive without it and I have to go for new handset if it does not work fine.

What a surprise, I see the same issues too. I have a car kit that works well including handover to and from phones by SE, Palm, LG but the nokia E63 causes all manner of resets until call is in progress...
Is this a firware bug or a limitation of Nokia's implementation (like it's inability to recieve a whole phonebook via Bluetooth when all my other handsets have done it without protest)?

  • Nokia 6120 Handset problem

Ok, today, after having the handset for under 2 weeks, the speaker where you have the phone to your ear to listen to calls has started packing up, sometimes you can hear, sometimes you can hear nothing - i tested this by putting the call on loudspeaker and it was fine.
    I am with 3.
Is it a common problem? Or is it a one off?

I think it is one off and may be taken to a service centre (authorised).

  • N80 issue / problem

Sure the N80 is a great phone. I don’t mean to talk down the N80 or Nokia for that matter.
I paid $1011 aus for my N80 and the sms screen don’t even fit
(The first 2 letters are missing from the left side of the phone for each word)
I'm feeling a bit ripped off here.
I am going to get a replacement handset tomorrow because the service center said this is the best idea, but I think it’s more a firmware problem not a handset problem.
Also the gallery is great but if only there was a way to organize it into folders and not just show every images on the phone.
So what i’m trying to say is I buy a expensive phone that can’t read / write sms and I can’t organize / hide my images from the gallery.
Does any one know what the rumored firmware V4.XXXX will fix / do for the N80 and when I will be released?
Like I said i'm not bagging the N80 or Nokia I just want to fix a few problems that many people seam to have.

    Hi,
I have had this problem for the past 4 months with my N80, mine is the UK black generic N80 (Bought sim free), and I am also using O2, this problem was semi regular until recently when I just couldn't recieve or send messages at all.
Today I updated my firmware via the updater for the first time since purchase, from the first release to: V4.0623.0.42 and recieved a whole mountain of text messages, since then I have had no problems but of course it is early days yet.

  • Can someone please settle an argument?

I'm in the UK using an iPhone 4 on O2 PAYG.
Since last week, I have had NO service from O2. A number of phone calls to O2 (8 intotal so far), indicated that there was a issue with the transmitter in my local area. This was told to me by 3 differant O2 operators on 3 seperate occasions. However, the other times I was told it could be an issue either my micro-sim card or the handset was faulty. On the request of O2, I have visted another postcoded area. The iP4 was working perfectly, with no problems with the service what-so-ever. Yet in my postcaoded area, the fault continued with "NO SERVICE". Again, O2 Customer Services told me it's either a sim problem or handset problem. I went a distance and visited a O2 store in another postcoded area. The iP4 was working perfectly, no faults, full service from O2. Thankfully with the abilitity to take screen grabs on the iP4, I showed the store the problems I was having. They said it most certainly was NOT a handset fault, but either one of two things - service in area or sim card. I had another sim, and everything was switched over to the new sim card.
AGAIN, they problem is still there. And again I need to contact O2. It has to be a transmitter fault in my area, even though O2 state that their computors show no issues. But when I speak with them today they will now doubtly say it's a handset fault.
I would like to ask . . . . Could it be a handset fault?
I feel it is not as I have no issues with the handset, just the O2 service which is the only thing that is NOT working. Obviously, as you can understand, I need to have some ammo to fire back at O2 if they try and blame the handset as I see that O2 are not doiung anything to rectify the problem.
Also, my girlfriend who is also using a iP4 on the O2 service is having similar problems with "NO SERVICE" in our area, but working perfectly fine in other postcoded areas.
Sorry for the long winded posting.

If it was a handset fault, why would it work perfectly when connecting to a different cell tower to the one in your local area?
Are other people in your local area, with iPhones and different phones, having similar issues?

  • Android calendar on shows a subset of what's on Google calendar

I have seen so many different posts regarding calendar problems that I'm sorry if this answer is already out there, but I can't find it by searching so I'm going to ask for myself:
I have a Google Calendar that works fine when I create/update entries from the web. I do not use Google Calendar Sync or any other SW to communicate with my Android phone (Droid 2) and I do not have/use Outlook.  My phone calendar is set up and it shows everything correctly for the current and past 6 weeks.  Updates made on either calendar (web and phone) appear on the other in less than a minute, so the basic Sync function seems to have the capability to make the correct updates.
I created my Internet Google Calendar around Sep 2010 (when I got this phone) and I created past events for record keeping purposes (I added details of a vacation in 2009, a business trip in Spring 2010, etc),  I also created several recurring events that extend for a year or more into the future (like music lessons and task deadlines).  All of these are clearly visible on my Google calendar when I access it from the web and when I access it on my phone via the Internet.
However, when I use the onboard calendar function it does not show any events older than 7 weeks except those that were created as recurring events.  It also show only 1 recurring event starting past this week--it loses recurring events that start in the past and extend past next week along with losing recurring events that start and stop completely in the future.
The net result of all of this is to render that onboard calendar function pretty useless--to get an accurate view on my calendar I have use a shortcut to access my Google Calendar through the Internet.  I am perplexed why there should be so many users with documented problems related to syncing their web Google Calendar with their phone calendars on a platform developed by Google. Similar calendar complaints seems to fill the Google forums from 2009 through today with not much in the way of solutions or work arounds offered. My old Palm Tungsten PDA may not be able to sync wirelessly, but when it did sync it had all my events,
Can anyone think of anything I could be doing wrong that causes these problems?  Does anyone have any advice on how to overcome these problems?
(I've already spoken with Verizon and Motorola support:  1) I already tried completely deleting all calendar data from my phone and reacquiring via a new setup; 2) I've reset my phone to factory setting and reloading everything; 3) I had them send me a replacement phone in case it was a programming error on my phone but the replacement acted exactly the same way.)

I have been researching this problem since it first surfaced with the 2.2 Froyo updated on the Droid X for me.   It is unbelievably frustrating.  I basically run my life with my calendar, and also use it as a journal to document what I do.   There are two fundamental problems:
    1 - the sync only will bring in appointments to about five or six weeks prior to the current date, not any in the further past;
2 - the sync hangs up and fails to complete the synchronization.
I have read hundreds of posts related to these issues on this Verizon forum, and also on Droid Forums.   Scores of customers seem to experience these issues.
When I first got the Droid X, I noted the failure to sync past appointments, and finally after many hours on the phone with Verizon support and reading many posts, I learned the trick of manually setting the phone date to some time in the past, since it will sync future events to the gmail calendar.  That had issues as well, as it used to only sync 1 year into the future, so I had to keep resetting the phone date to past dates one year at a time to rebuild my calendar from 2005.  This no longer works because of problem #2 - synchronize stops and fails.   Verizon phone support admitted that they have had complaints about this problem as well.
I have checked all Accounts settings, auto sync, power widget (trick from the developers forum), factory reset and rebuild of environment, removal of possibly interfering market applications such as task killers and virus protectors, system recovery utility->clear cache partition, etc.   I have tried everything that I have found a suggestion for or thought might solve the issue, all to no avail.
At one point I thought it was a Google issue, but when I setup a new Macintosh computer, iCal synchronized every single appointment and event back 7 years and forward from the current date flawlessly to my Google gmail calendar.   The synch on the Droid X will run for perhaps 10 seconds and then the little icon with the arrows stops spinning and it just hangs there, having brought in only 15% or so of my thousands of appointments from my Google gmail calendar.
Maybe it is a size problem, since I have so many appointments.  Or maybe not.  No one seems to know.  No response from Google support.   I have posted extensively about this issue on Droid Forums (username Tedmeister there) if anyone is interested in looking at those posts (and the many folks experiencing similar issues).   Verizon support is clueless, and only suggests another factory reset "try and see if it works".  Sigh.
The problem has gotten MUCH worse since the 2.3 Gingerbread update, as well as some additional handset problems being introduced by that update.  Some of these Verizon has also admitted knowing about, and just say 'Google is working on the fix'.
I am pretty much at the end of the rope on the calendar sync issue.   The only thing I have not yet tried is to hurl the Droid X through the window and go buy an iPhone  :-)
So anyone out there who has looked into this deeply, or has any inside information about the causes and/or solution, I'd love to hear form you.

  • Email says sent but won't actually deliver - please help!

This is so aggravating. Sorry in advance for the long story:
My work email server has always synced just fine to my iPhone for the past 4 months. Earlier this month my work email stopped sending - it says it's sent and shows up in the sent folder, but it doesn't actually get delivered to the recipient.
I have tried everything I can find. Here's a list:
    - Updated iPhone software.
    - Updated iTunes software.
    - Synced using iTunes. Then synced manually onto the Phone.
    - Got the Apple store to patch my iPhone with something called"DFU"? Worked for an hour and then stopped.
    - Turned extra SMTP servers on.
    - Tried different SMTP servers as primary outgoing server.
    - Wiped entire iPhone about 100 times.
    - Turned WiFi off. Then tried using only WiFi.
    - Tweaked every single configuration - turned off SSL, changed the port number, etc. I've now had two IT departments not be able to figure this out.
    - Tried syncing my work email to other iPhones both in my firm and at the Apple store. Both worked fine.
Finally, I swapped my iPhone for a new one (was under warranty and it seemed to be a handset problem). Worked perfect - until today. Then it stopped again. Tried wiping the phone twice. Nothing.
It seems sometimes that being in my apartment (which is cement) is where the problem will start, except then it won't work ANYWHERE after. Plus I can't tell for sure where it happened the first time - whether in my apartment or outside.
HELP! This is so annoying. I'm so tempted to sell my stupid phone and go back to Blackberry but I'm scared that won't work either.

  • Australian N85 users wanting a Firmware update to ...

    Hi there,
As an Australian N85 user on a Virgin Mobile branded handset, I thought I'd share my recent experiences. Both phones were purchased from Telechoice under a Virgin Mobile contract.
    I received a Virgin branded N85 (product code 0575031)
My wife received an Optus branded N85 (product code 0576341)
The Optus branded N85 had the dreaded SMS contact names appearing as numbers, and the only fix at the time (about 5 months ago) was to replace the Optus firmware with Generic firmware. As many users know, depending on the Nokia Care Centre, this isn't as easy as it sounds - see this link for details:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&message.id=126312#M126312
Anyway, since my wifes phone was updated with Generic firmware, she received V11 & V20 updates within weeks of their release. My handset, however, took an extra 8 weeks for V11 to be released, and as of today still has not had the V20 update released (I just checked at http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-upda...).
I spent the past 4 weeks with Virgin Customer Support trying to get a date of release out of them, and all I would get is it's in Beta test, and would be released soon. I explained that generic handset had received the V20 release already, but it fell on deaf ears. I finally got fed up with the support staff, and rang the Australian Telecommunications Ombudsman and filed a complaint. I cited that Virgin were withholding product updates that rectify some of the handsets faults, and the gentlemen that I spoke to gave me a reference number and a Customer Relations phone number.
I spent another week getting the same **bleep** out of Customer Relations, until I was finally put in to contact with a Supervisor. He advised that the Virgin branded handset would no longer get any updates, and that I'd been given inaccurate information.I asked him if he thought that it was fair that product updates that fix handset problems be withheld from customers, and he said that he did not think it was right but he was powerless to do anything. So he suggested that I go to a Nokia Care Centre and get the Generic firmware installed, as the handsets weren't locked to Virgin. He also sent me a letter in the event that the Nokia Care Centre wouldn't oblige, stating that Virgin recommended that the update be applied and that all warranties would remain in place if the handset were to be updated.
So I went to the Care Centre, explained the issue to them, and they were happy to update the handset to the Generic firmware (they didn't even want to see the letter from Virgin). The only thing is that they installed the Generic V11 firmware, but I was able to immediately update to the V20 firmware OTA (or via NSU if I wanted to).
So, for any Virgin/Optus customers waiting for V20 (and you know that V30 for the N85 has just been released...), I'd advise that you don't waste too much more time waiting, as it may never actually get pushed to your product code. Switch over to Generic legitimately via a Nokia Care Centre, and enjoy timely firmware updates (well, as timely as Nokia releases them, at least you don't have to wait for a Carrier to approve it!!!).
    Cheers,
    travla
If you found this post helpful, please click on the green "Kudos!" star. Cheers!

operators have always branded their phones Scanorama. its just that some handsets escape the radar and start to brand their handsets. we were lucky here in Australia that they didn't decide to brand the N78, though i also can see that it wasn't promoted that heavily either, hence only Virgin, Optus and Vodafone got the handsets, and not as many operators as i would have thought.
to buy generic handsets, that's a bit tough as i'm not sure if Australia has an online Nokia Store. but i guess buying here would be a matter of say going to a Vodafone shop for example, and checking that the phone doesn't come with Vodafone packaging, check a demonstration model of the handset itself to see it doesn't have custom firmware/Vodafone wallpapers/junk all over it. most cases it is pretty easy to tell if it is branded, since it does have that junk all over it, and on the startup/shutdown screens. a lot of the people count out the eBay method of buying phones, but i actually bought my N78 off eBay. when buying, you just have to be careful that it is a genuine handset, has the appropriate receipts (mine had a receipt from the Vodafone store)/genunine IMEI as mine did. with a little vigilance, you can easily identify the genuine handsets and get yourself a good deal. as with mine, i ended up getting mine for half the RRP Vodafone and Optus were selling the N78 for
please throw some kudos our way, it would mean a lot to us
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

Hi...i recently purchase a Nokia 3250 but I'm facing a problem:any themes/application installed in memory card doesn't work and theme resets after switch-on the handset but if that application is installed in phone memory, it works after switch-on the handset.
I install all the software properly provided by nokia like snake game,themes....by using PC Suite.
I face the problems when i follow the following steps:
    Problem 1:
1-I install any software (e.g:snake game) through Application manager (Pc Suit) in memory card.
2-I launch that software (snake game) just after installation it works properly.
3-Now i switch-off the hand set and than switch-on it.
4-I try to launch that software (snake game) again but it doesn't response.
    Problem 2:
1:There is a image in my Memory card.
2: I set that image as a wallpaper.
3-Now i switch-off the hand set and than switch-on it.
    4-Wallpaper reset to default one.
    Problem 3:
1-I install a theme through Application manager (Pc Suit) in memory card.
2: I apply that theme in my hand set.
3-Now i switch-off the hand set and than switch-on it.
4- Now theme reset to default one.
i want to know is it my handset problem or OS problem....?
    plss help....

The 6102 is an S40 (Series 40) 2nd edition phone, and rather old, already as S40 is already at 5th edition (plus various intermediate "feature packs").
I think the 6102 supports themes, then they come in .nth files (not .sis or .sisx, which are for S60/Series 60 phone models) and only when they're created with Nokia Series 40 Theme Studio v1.*. Newer themes created with v2.* of the tool, requires newer phones.
