Has Adobe stopped activating/deactivating PSE7?

I have been using PSE7 on Windows 7 for years and never had a problem. Recently, I installed a new Windows 7 system drive and attempted to install my trusty PSE7. Prior to installing the new system drive, I ensured that all my software with activations were deactivated, but there was no option under the PSE7 Help menu for deactivation. (Ironically, there is a deactivation on a non-activated install but it is obviously grayed out and it wasn't in my original, activated PSE7 help menu.)
PSE7 installed correctly to my new Windows 7 (same Windows version and install disk I was using with PSE7 previously), but when I got to the activation screen, it just showed a red "X". After logging into Adobe and confirming my activation code, I contacted Adobe Support and was told that PSE7 was never tested on Windows 7 so they couldn't give any support, and that they could not even look up my activations in their computer to see if they were still 'active'. They did tell me that PSE7 was suppose to be automatically deactivated when it was uninstalled.
So, I did the following:
Restored a backup copy of my old Windows 7 and perfectly working PSE7 system (I'd already re-purposed the old drive)
Uninstalled PSE7 (as I remembered, there is no "Deactivate" in my working PSE7)
Re-installed Windows 7, updated it and installed PSE7, but PSE7 still wouldn't accept the activation
Re-formatted and re-installed Windows 7 but did not run Windows update in case it was a recent update the broke activation
Installed PSE7 but failed to get past the activation screen again
As I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 and attempted PSE7 activation before I ran Windows update, the conditions were nearly identical to my original Windows 7 system when I successfully installed PSE7 all those years ago. If it installed and accepted activation in my original system but not in my last test, it leads me to think that Adobe is no longer releasing the activations for PSE7.
Anyone have any idea if Adobe is still releasing the activations or activating new installs for software they don't support anymore? I'm only assuming they don't support any PSE7, not just on the unsupported Windows 7, as they can't look up my activations for it. Seems strange that their support staff would not have access a older product's activations for troubleshooting, provided that they still have a server managing those activations?

Too bad, you have almost every version except 7. I purchased a download version and confirmed the S/N on my purchased software page, so I assume it is correct. However, your comment about the original CD got me thinking, so just in case my originally downloaded install file was corrupted, I re-downloaded a copy of PSE7 from my account on Adobe, and it was a completely different installer! Gone was the S/N input page with a bunch of boxes to input the numbers in groups of 4 and there was simply a single input box that you can cut-and-paste the whole S/N into (you don't know how many times I retyped my S/N, 4 digits at a time, to make sure I didn't make a typo).
Even better than the S/N new input box is that it accepted my S/N without a hiccup! No red "X", or anything. PSE7 is installed and life is good again! Yay!
I kept my old install of PSE7 updated, but I never thought of the possibility of an updated installer. Possibly Adobe has changed how it expects the S/N to be transmitted, thus creating a different installer than my original one. Below the S/N input boxes on the old but not the new installer, there was a trial option that I also tried and failed to activate after install, but most software that have both options generally accept both options. Too bad the Adobe tech didn't know there were different versions of the installer, but not being supported any more, I guess I was lucky he tried.

    Adobe supports it, but apparently Google doesn't.
    Adobe provides Google with the code for the Player, but Google is responsible for embedding it into the Chrome browser that GoogleTV uses.  I've seen a lot of posts saying that there is no update available, and the Google TV update is the only way to update the Plugin. Google support has been very unhelpful to people with this problem too.

    Could you please elaborate a bit more about the issue ,what exactly has happened?
    Are you not able to launch and PDF' or getting some error message ?
    You can log in to Adobe.com with your credentials .If you do not have any prior credentials ,you need to create an account .Adobe.com will either let you purchase the product or opt for a trial version.
    Please go ahead if that matches your requirement.

    After the download for the CS5.5 Design Standard finished, I pressed the handy button labeled "Download Complete! Open bundle." However, when I press that, I get a message that says:

    This has been the case for multiple attempts at varied times. What do I do?

    When I open liquify, it opens as usual and I can adjust the size of the image, choose the tool and attempt to edit the image , but it does not respond.  Nothing happens.

    Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't help, try a Restore.  From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad.
    There's more but let's take it in small bites.
    Also, read this.
    There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site.  If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.

  • FMCore has been stopped

    Windows XP Pro, InDesign CS3 for Windows, Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2 for Windows.
    I just installed Fusion 2 for windows and upon launching Indesign error message "FMCore.exe has been stopped" appeared. A recent item in this forum describes the same problem submitted by MAC  OS2 user and solution was in the Indesign edit>preferences menu to "turn on core" and "turn on at startup". In my Windows version of CS3 I don't have those options in my preferences menu. Is there another solution for Windows CS3 folks?

    This error is being caused by the Suitcase Fusion PlugIn that was installed in your Adobe product when Fusion was installed. If you go to Suitcase Fusion, go to Tools, to Manage PlugIns, deselect the Adobe PlugIns that are active.
    This will stop the error message from occurring when you launch. Illustrator, etal.
    This does mean that font loading for these programs is not automatic, but that shouldn't be a big deal.

    I pay for the creative cloud license, and still see the charge every month, but some how my subscription got bumped down to a "trial".  Now that trial has expired and I am still billed, but I do not have working licenses for the software I need. 
    I am in my last few weeks of grad school thesis, and of any point in my life, it is most critical that I have access to the software I pay for right now. 
    The email I received confirming the purchase did not include a serial number or license, so I have no idea how to fix the problem, but I really really need this working immediately.  I can not stress enough how important this be resolved ASAP.

  • Adobe Acrobat Activation Problem

    One of our users is having a problem with Adobe Acrobat Standard 8 OEM. It was working fine until a recent update. Now it opens for about ten seconds and then closes. If I open Distiller, it says that Acrobat needs to be activated which it already has been. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but the same problem remains. I've also uninstalled with Microsoft Windows Installer and then reinstalled. An Adobe tech has worked on this for about an hour to no avail. There's got to be some way to activate this copy and use. Appreciate your assistance.

    Many people sem to have this problem and for most, rebooting does not solve it.
    I have this problem, too. I'm on Acrobat 8 and Windows XP.
    Usually this works for me:
    - deleting the acrotray process (ctrl alt dl, select processes, sort alphabetically, delete acrotray)
    - deleting the Flexnet file (_00080000_tsf.data in FLEXNET folder - probably at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet).
    Sometimes it doesn't.
    When it doesn't, I go into MS-Word, open a random doc and click on the PDF icon on the toolbar (this bypasses the PDF-writing method which uses your printer setup/drivers). Somehow, this works fine and the PDF is created.
    I then go to the original doc I wanted to create, in any app, and use the printer (ie 'control p') driver to write the PDF - the method that had originally failed. The PDF then writes no problem. This always fixes it.
    If this doesn't work, there are multiple (and some very complex) fixes suggested by Adobe in the Help section online - search for 'Adobe 8 activation error'. Hopefully the above may help.
    Hope this helps - but users seem to all have different configurations and different fixes. 

  • Why has adobe made Illustrator so clunky, difficult and unfriendly to use?

    Why has Adobe destroyed the workability of Illustrator? I've been working with Illustrator, professionally, since 1988 (and almost as long with Photoshop) and this 'Creative Cloud' incarnation is just a f******g DISASTER!!!! Do they deliberately set out to make it as difficult to use as possible? It's bad enough that  you have to sign up to this 'Creative Cloud' nonsense, but do the idiots that design the software ever try to actually work with it?!!! Have they got a clue about workflow?!!!!!
    There is ZERO customer service, and no way of giving feedback. The arrogance of Adobe is just astounding - almost as astounding as the breath-taking stupidity of the people who write the damned software. I just wish they'd stopped at Illustrator 10 - at least that was sensible and workable.
    If someone can actually - I mean REALLY - contact Adobe, you can tell them from me that their software and company policies stink - as does their arrogant indifference to paying customers evidenced by the complete absence of customer support. Also, you can tell them that their software writers are ignorant, incompetent fools.

    The poetic version would be that Adobe don't have a "vision" and simply are limping from version to version as long as they can make a buck with plugging on a handful of features every time. Specific to AI it's pretty clear that the software would have needed to be "reinvented" from the ground up 15 years ago. Similarly, the people responsible for its development now seem to prefer to waste their time with things like the barely workable new curve tool or those ridiculous MAX demos instead of tackling more fundamental issues like the atrocious and unreliable file format, import/ export handling, parametric editing and generative, reusable graphics, genuine 3D tools and whatnot.... Alas, things are as they are and thankfully there are other programs out there aplenty.

  • The serial number has aleady been activated on 2 computers

    When I start Illustrator I get an error 'Activation limit reached for Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Standard', 'The serial number has already been activated on 2 computers'.
    The computers it was previously on have been wiped clean so I cant deactivate it on them. The help docs say this:
    What happens if my  computer is stolen or damaged and cannot be repaired?
    If your  computer is stolen, damaged beyond repair or the hard drive is completely  re-imaged, the activation will be lost. In either case you can install and  start using the Adobe product on your new computer, which will automatically detect  the problem if you already had two computers activated. The activation process  will guide you through the new activation, even if the prior computer is no  longer available.
    However the activation process isn't guiding me at all! I cant use this software now and nothing in the docs gives any indication how to fix this.

    Thanks for the reply.  Sorry I wasn't clear the version is XI standard.  And I did check for updates.  The program is current.  Still a few times a day the program will crash and my user will have to start over again on the document she is working on.  Very frustrating for her and me.
    The full error is:
    Adobe Acrobat has stopped working
    A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
