• Enable / disable combo box in datagrid cell

I have a datagrid with 8 columns 2 check boxes a text box and
5 combo boxes. I am trying to disable the combo boxes if the first
check box is not checked. So far I am able to disable the entire
column with the combo box in it, but what i am trying to achieve is
if the check box is false then the 5 combo boxes are to be
disabled.
So what I am asking in a nutshell is is there a way to enable
or disable particular cells in a datagrid ?
Example
of what I have already done
Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

I put the following code in that I took from samples:
Bindable]public var test:ArrayCollection;
private
function init():void
test =
new ArrayCollection([{label:"High", data:"high"},{label:
"Medium", data:"medium"},{label:
"Low", data:"low"}])
Then in the mxml:
<mx:DataGridColumn
headerText="From Fiscal Period">
<mx:itemRenderer>
<mx:Component>
<mx:ComboBox dataProvider="{test}">
</mx:ComboBox>
</mx:Component>
</mx:itemRenderer>
</mx:DataGridColumn>
I still get the same error: 1120: Access of undefined property test.

I have a combo box on one of my forms that is populated using a Javascript array. The combo box is populating just fine, but when an item is selected from that combo box, the selected item does not save when the user saves the document. Any suggestions as to what the problem is and how it can be corrected? I am a loss as to where to even begin looking. Any help is greatly appreciated.

• Combo box selected index is not working.

Hi guys, I have a problem with changing the combo box selected index.
I load a list of phone types(such as "Home","Office",...) using Remote Object and assign it as a data provider for a combo box.What I need is to select a specific index in the combo but combo.selectedIndex statement doesn't work for the first time, I mean the combo changes its index only if I load the view again.
I checked different examples, solutions but none of them worked for me!! Can anyone here help me to figure out the problem?
Here is my Code:
<mx:Canvas creationComplete="init()"
xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:ComboBox id="comboPhone0"
prompt="Type"
dataProvider="{phoneTypeList}"
/>
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
private var phoneTypeList:ArrayCollection;
private function init():void
loadPhoneType();
private function loadPhoneType():void
phoneTypeLoaderService.getPhoneType(); //phoneTypeLoaderService is a remote Object to load the phone types
private function handlephoneTypeLoadResult(ev:ResultEvent):void
phoneTypeList=ev.result as ArrayCollection;
comboPhone.selectedIndex = getComboSelectedIndex("HOME");
private function getComboSelectedIndex(phoneType:String):int
var index : int= -1;
var result : int= -1;
for each (var pt:PhoneType in phoneTypeList)
if (pt.type == phoneType)
result = index;
break;
else{
index++;
return result;

</mx:Script>
</mx:Canvas>

hi
I think in getComboSelectedIndex() method index should initialized to zero. If that does not work use after assigning the data from result event.
phoneTypeList.refresh();
Hope this helps

• Combo Box if "word" do not print.

I have combo boxes that I want to set up so that if the box still says "select" that it will not print when i print the form. Is this possible?

Try this in the "Custom Validation Script"
if (event.value == "Select"){
event.target.display = display.noPrint
} else {
event.target.display = display.visible
Change "Select" to match whatever your value is in the combobox.

• How to disable a single cell in a table (and not the whole column)

Hi there,
I've got a webdynpro table with a few columns, rows can be created dynamically through a button in the table toolbar.
Depending on the value of a certain cell I have to disable another cell (in the same row).
I tried to manipulate the view in the modifyview but no joy. I also tried to manipulate the attribute property through the coding below:
DATA lv_knttp TYPE knttp.
lo_nd_kostl = wd_context->path_get_node( path = `MULTIVALUES.KOSTL` ).
lo_el_kostl = lo_nd_kostl->get_element( ).
lo_el_kostl->set_attribute_property(
attribute_name = 'LTEXT'
property       = lo_el_kostl->e_property-enabled
value          = ''
but it disables the whole column!!!! I just need the cell to be disabled (I thought the code above, through the lead selection, would affect a certain cell only - but I was wrong).
Any ideas?
Thanks!!!

Hi,
using cell variants you can do this.,
check this article: [Cell Variants in WDA|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP/WebDynproforABAPCellVariants]
Instead of binding the read only property of table as a whole , just bind the read only property of column group of table., You can do this bu drill down the table and select the required column and bind the read only column.,
then In onAction Event of button .,
loop the table, if condition satisfied set the read only property to true else false.,!!
hope this helps u.,
Thanks & regards,
Kiran

• Add a Drop down menu / Combo Box into a specified cell of a multi column lsit box

Hello,
i have a question how to manipulate a cell of a multi column list box in that way that i can add a drop down menu or a combo box in this cell?
Is this possible in LabView?
Thank you!

Wow, I took a look at the alternate code posted here at that really takes you through gyration (also a similiar comment I see on Lava) to perform what I've done with a few functions....
See the Pics and attached VI for how its done. KISS, I added an event stucture and changed my first enum case to " " (i.e. a blank) to make it look like the other posted code....

• Tab Component Dynamic Visibility to Combo Boxes

I am using a Tab component. I have 3 tabs on my dashboard. I have 2 Combo boxes that I am using to filter rows of data on 3 Excel sheets. Both Combo boxes are not used on all the tabs. How can I pass example: User clicks on Tab 1 and use dynamic visibility for Combo Box 1 and Combo Box 2 are visible. If the user clicks on Tab 2 I want only Combo Box 1 to be visible.

Hi Joe,
This can be achieved in Dynamic visibility.
On click on Tab,just map to some target(say value "1") and then For Combo box,set target cell mapped for tab to 1,which means when the target cell gets "1",show the Combo box.
If you are not clear then you can refer the following URL,which will give you more informations about this.

• Plotting a combination chart with a combo box for selection

Hi:
I am a newbie using xcelcius and I need help on the following:-
I need to create a combination chart that plots 3 years data by month, and I need a combo box selection at the top that allows me to select user display for each difference region. I manage to create one that plots only 2008 data with a combo-box selection, but I have no idea how to do it for a combi chart in xcelcius. Any advise?

Hi Ning,
I assume your data are like this:
Region             Year     Jan     Feb     Mar
APJ             2006     $234.45     $310.34     $321.54
APJ             2007     $314.35     $319.12     $256.89
APJ             2008     $425.54     $354.34     $285.73
North Asia     2006     $534.64     $642.35     $484.64
North Asia     2007     $631.74     $654.13     $754.34
North Asia     2008     $754.31     $423.65     $634.32
South East Asia     2006     $536.42     $576.35     $525.42
South East Asia     2007     $426.78     $876.43     $643.75
South East Asia     2008     $634.87     $425.77     $732.43
If this, you can set the insertion type of combo box is "Filtered Rows", see steps:
1) For Combo Box, bind General > Labels to the Region column.
2) Set General > Data Insertion > Insertion Type is "Filtered Rows" (you can refer to following flash to see how "Filtered Rows" works).
3) Set its Source Data are Year, Jan, Feb, ... columns and Destination to blank cells.
4) Bind Chart to the destination data.
Now when you select APJ from Combo Box, it will insert all the rows of APJ data to the desitination cells which will be displayed in Chart.
Hope this can help!

• Combo Box In QueryComponent

Hi,
I am using a programmatic view object in adf query component and have created List of values for one attribute by adding another programmatic ViewObject as ViewAccessor. In the Ui hints of that attribute i made list type as Combo Box. To populate the combo box, have overwritten the executeQueryForCollection of the ViewObject.
With this appraoch am able to return the list of options(texts) to be displayed in combo box. But am not able to decide the value for each option in the combo box. System assigns zero based index as the values for options.
Please some one tell me that Is there a way to define value for each option diplayed in the combo box.
Thanks in Advance,
Vivek....

You're catching Exceptions in empty catch() blocks. There might have been an exception, but you won't know if the catch block doesn't do anything.
Try something like this:
catch(SQLException e){
System.err.println( "Problem with db query"+e.getMessage() );
e.printStackTrace( System.err );
}in order to see what's going wrong with your code.

• How to populate the combo boxes that are created dynamically in jsp

Hi,
I am using JSP.
I am creating combo boxes dynamically (based on the num selected by the user). These dynamically created combo boxes need to have A-Z as options (each box) . Now, when the user chooses the option A in any of the combo-boxes,the rest should not have this option. so on..
how do i achieve this.Kindly help.

You'll need to use JavaScript...I have a complicated example and a simple example, however, I cannot really understand the complex example but I know how it works. The looping is too complex for me.
First you'll need to populate a server side variable...depending on how often the data is updated you may want this to run each time a new session is created...this example is run each time Tomcat is started and the application context is initialized:
package kms.web;
// Servlet imports
import javax.servlet.ServletContextListener;
import javax.servlet.ServletContextEvent;
import javax.servlet.ServletContext;
// utility imports
import java.util.Map;
// domain imports
import kms.domain.LocationService;
import kms.domain.DeptService;
import kms.domain.PatentService;
* This listenter is used to initialize
* the Maps of Locations, Patents & Depts used to populate
* pulldown lists in JSPs
public class InitializeData implements ServletContextListener {
* This method creates the Maps.
public void contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent sce) {
ServletContext context = sce.getServletContext();
LocationService lServ = new LocationService();
// Create the Maps
Map campuses = lServ.getCampuses();
Map buildings = lServ.getBuildings();
Map floors = lServ.getFloors();
Map locs = lServ.getLocations();
// And store them in the "context" (application) scope
context.setAttribute("campuses", campuses);
context.setAttribute("buildings", buildings);
context.setAttribute("floors", floors);
context.setAttribute("locs", locs);
DeptService dServ = new DeptService();
Map depts = dServ.getDepts();
context.setAttribute("depts", depts);
PatentService pServ = new PatentService();
Map patents = pServ.getPatents();
context.setAttribute("patents", patents);
//I did this one myself
/*    CodeService cServ = new CodeService();
Map masterMks = cServ.getCodes();
context.setAttribute("masterMks", masterMks);

public void contextDestroyed(ServletContextEvent sce) {
// I have no clue what the heck this is for???
// Let me know if you do!
}So now we travel into the PatentService method called 'getPatents();' which in turn calls a PatentDAO method
Map patents = pServ.getPatents();
Below is the code for the PatentService object:
package kms.domain;
import kms.util.ObjectNotFoundException;
import java.util.*;
* This object performs a variety of dept services, like retrieving
* a dept object from the database, or creating a new dept object.
public class PatentService {
* The internal Data Access Object used for database CRUD operations.
private PatentDAO patentDAO;
* This constructor creates a Dept Service object.
public PatentService() {
patentDAO = new PatentDAO();
public Map getPatents() {
Map patents = null;
try {
patents = patentDAO.retrieveAll();
// If the dept object does not exist, simply return null
} catch (ObjectNotFoundException onfe) {
patents = null;
return patents;
}It may be useful for you to see the code of the Patent class:
package kms.domain;
/*** This domain object represents a dept.
public class Patent implements java.io.Serializable {
private int codeGgm;
private String name = "";
private String description = "";
private int creator;
private String creationDate = "";
private int used;
* This is the full constructor.
public Patent(int codeGgm, String name, String desc, int creator, String creationDate, int used) {
this.codeGgm = codeGgm;
this.name = name;
this.description = desc;
this.creator = creator;
this.creationDate = creationDate;
this.used = used;
public Patent() { }
public int getCodeGgm() {
return codeGgm;
public void setCodeGgm(int codeGgm) {
this.codeGgm = codeGgm;
public String getName() {
return name;
public void setName(String name) {
this.name = name;
public String getDesc() {
return description;
public void setDesc(String desc) {
this.description = desc;
public int getCreator() {
return creator;
public void setCreator(int creator) {
this.creator = creator;
public String getCreationDate() {
return creationDate;
public void setCreationDate(String creationDate) {
this.creationDate = creationDate;
public int getUsed() {
return used;
public void setUsed(int used){
this.used = used;
}And here is the Database table which stores the Patents:
DESC PATENT:
CODE_GGM NUMBER(3)
NAME VARCHAR2(15)
DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2(250)
CREATOR NUMBER(10)
CREATION_DATE DATE
USED NUMBER(1)
So, we then travel into the code of the PatentDAO to see how the DAO object executes the DB query to get all of the Data we need for the select list:
package kms.domain;
import javax.naming.*;
import javax.sql.*;
import java.util.*;
import java.sql.*;
import kms.util.*;
* This Data Access Object performs database operations on Patent objects.
class PatentDAO {
* This constructor creates a Patent DAO object.
* Keep this package-private, so no other classes have access
PatentDAO() {
* This method returns a Map of all the Dept names
* The key is the Dept id
Map retrieveAll()
throws ObjectNotFoundException {
Connection connection = null;
ResultSet results = null;
// Create the query statement
PreparedStatement query_stmt = null;
try {
// Get a database connection
Context initContext = new InitialContext();
DataSource ds = (DataSource)initContext.lookup("java:/comp/env/jdbc/keymanOracle");
connection = ds.getConnection();
// Create SQL SELECT statement
query_stmt = connection.prepareStatement(RETRIEVE_ALL_NAMES);
results = query_stmt.executeQuery();
int num_of_rows = 0;
Map patents = new TreeMap();
// Iterator over the query results
while ( results.next() ) {
patents.put(new Integer(results.getInt("code_ggm")), results.getString("name"));
if ( patents != null ) {
return patents;
} else {
throw new ObjectNotFoundException("patent");
// Handle any SQL errors
} catch (SQLException se) {
se.printStackTrace();
throw new RuntimeException("A database error occured. " + se.getMessage());
} catch (NamingException se) {
throw new RuntimeException("A JNDI error occured. " + se.getMessage());
// Clean up JDBC resources
} finally {
if ( results != null ) {
try { results.close(); }
catch (SQLException se) { se.printStackTrace(System.err); }
if ( query_stmt != null ) {
try { query_stmt.close(); }
catch (SQLException se) { se.printStackTrace(System.err); }
if ( connection != null ) {
try { connection.close(); }
catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(System.err); }
private static final String RETRIEVE_ALL_NAMES
= "SELECT code_ggm, name FROM patent ";
}Now when you wish to use the 'combo box' (also called select lists), you insert this code into your jsp:

<%@ include file="../incl/patent.jsp" %>

depending on how your files on your server are organized, the "../incl/patent.jsp"
tells the container to look up one directory from where the main jsp is to find the 'patent.jsp' file in the 'incl' directory.
I need some help creating multi-level select lists with JavaScript:
Can anyone explain this code:
<%@ page import="java.util.*,kms.domain.*" %>
<jsp:useBean id="campuses" scope="application" class="java.util.Map" />

This produces a related select list with 4 related lists by outputting JavaScript to the page being served. It works the same way as the first example that I describe but I don't understand the looping...maybe someone could explain how to go from the single select list to a double and/or triple level drill down?

• Combo box with a little twist?

Hi everyone,
Umm, i want to make a some drop boxes or combo boxes where if the user choose some option, than in the next combo boxes that option will not appear. Can I do that?
How?
Thanks for the help, sorry if this question had been asked, and especially sorry for the terrible english.
Bence

OK, I see now.
So let's say the first box is called Combo1 and the second Combo2. You can add this code as the validate event of Combo1:
var items = [];
for (var i=0; i<event.target.numItems; i++) {
if (event.value!=event.target.getItemAt(i,false))
items.push(event.target.getItemAt(i,false));
getField("Combo2").setItems(items);

• How to view the records in datagrid using Combo Box Selection

hi friends,
i having one combo box,that combo box having 10 students name in list format.
If i click any one of the students name it will only show the Particular student record in datagrid with respective fields(student name,rollnumber,percentage);
how i will do this
please give any suggession or show snippet demo.
it will be more helpful to do this,
Thanks in advance
B.Venktesan.

Hi,
As your requirement , i think you will have to use selectedItem or selectedIndex property of combobox. And accordingly fetch data and provide it to dataprovider of datagrid.Following code can help you.
