Having difficulty setting up email

Recieving fine but cannot send outgoing emails, any help?

You need to review your SMTP server settings. Mail > Preferences > Accounts > "your account" > Outgoing SMTP Server > Edit SMTP Server list
What you actually need to specify depends on your ISP.

I'm having difficulty setting up my smatermail (webmail) account on my iphone. I have tried a variety of options from the setting menu (microsoft exchange and other). I have typed the incoming and outgoing server info. Now I'm not sure what to try. I'm sure there is someone out there who has a smatermail account.  Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi jodilynnf,
When using Connection Doctor to see what is could be causing the issue, look for the red dots to let you know what is wrong. Then all you have to do is correct that information. You can double click on the section that is giving you issue and it will take you there. Most issues could be just password being entered incorrectly. Take a look at the article below to walk you through troubleshooting issues with Mail.

  • Having issue setting up email account on the iphone.

having issue setting up email account on the iphone.  Going into settings mail, contacts, calendars...it goes back to the welcome screen.  How do I delete all email accounts and set up from scratch?

I was having the exact same issue.  It was driving me crazy.  Just as a fluke, I tried logging in to my wife's account on the verizon.net website to se if I had a bad password or something.  As soon as I logged in on my computer, her account verified & installed on her iphone.  I have no idea why, but it worked.

  • Having trouble setting up email accounts in the mail app?

    Hi Apple community,
I am having trouble setting up my email accounts with the osX mail application. I have two accounts, an outlook and my college email through google. When I try to add the outlook account the prompt says that it cannot connect to the server and when I try my college mail i get the following prompt.
"Trying to log in to the Exchange server “autodiscover-s.outlook.com” failed. Make sure the email address and password you entered are correct, then click Continue."
Please note that my college account is run by gmail and ends in murraystate.edu
    Thanks, Will.

    Hey will,
okay for your college email. Heres what you do.
Try adding your email and wait for the message to come up
Trying to log in to the Exchange server “autodiscover-s.outlook.com” failed. Make sure the email address and password you entered are correct, then click Continue."
Once it does, you will notice 2 extra boxes One says username and the other password. You will notice that the username will not have @murraystate.edu
Add this and continue and this should now be added as an email account and should be able to receive emails as normal.
For your outlook emails, I would recommend using the following article to set it up. It is fairly straightforward.

  • I'm having trouble setting up email on my new Lucid

I'm having trouble setting up 2 of my email accounts on my new Lucid phone for some reason. I go through the setup wizard process, but the phone can't connect with either my Hotmail or my Yahoomail accounts, and I get the message "Getting Token failed". What does this mean, and what can I do to correct this? Does the phone have to be in 4G to connect to email accounts?

Mam129, I rely on email to stay connected with family and friends so I know how important it is to be able view them on my phone. But don’t worry because I’m here to help.
Are you still unable to set up your email? A fix for the issue has recently been implemented. Please try setting up the email again and keep me posted if you have any issues.

  • I am having difficulty setting up my email account on my iPad mini

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Downloaded iOS 7.0.2 on my iPad 4. I am now having difficulty . With emails.

After downloading IOS 7.0.2 on my iPad 4. When I go into my email it shows the number of emails to view but they are not there, I can't locate them. I have tried deleting the account and re-installing it but it is still the same. I read that a number of people are experiencing problems with the new IOS  7.0.2. As anyone out there got an answer.

I am having the same issue with 7.0.2 on my iPhones. It will not send email and when it downloads new email it says it is, but it does not - verify by checking on my computer.  Have 3 iPhone in our family and all three behave the same.  On the three phones have six different email accounts.  Two of the three connect to GoDaddy via IMAP, and the rest to different Exchange acounts on different servers.  The problem did not occur until the iOS was updated to 7.0.2.  What is strange is sometimes when I restart the phones the mail will come in and send.  Then after a period of time the email will stop again.  Others times it won't and will just stop.  I have tried both with WiFi on and off and it does not change the outcome.  Also tried deleting the accounts and setting up again.  This too does not change the outcome.

  • Having trouble setting up email account on wifes iphone

My wife just got an iphone 4s and I have been unsuccessful in setting up her email account on the phone. I went through the step by step procedures. When I submit it always gives me a wrong user id or password message. I even went into the system and reset the password. Her email is a sub-account of mine. The email worked fine on her Samsung II, but now I can't get it to operate on the iphone.

  • HT201320 having problems setting up email for a tiscali email address - after trying to verify ipda comes up saying cannot connect using SSL

trying to set up my tiscali email address on an ipad mini, after trying to verify, message comes up stating "cannot connect using SSL"

Not sure what the shortcut is. I'm just going, Settings > Mail > Add Account > Gmail
That is the GMail shortcut. That should work. Just for testing, use the "Other" shortcut.
Settings / Mail / Add Account / Other
    Name: <put your name>
    Email [email protected]
    Incoming server: pop.gmail.com
    Login: [email protected]
    Password: yourpassword
    Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
    Login: [email protected]
    Password: yourpassword
    Hit SAVE.
It should set itself up correctly without you having to specify anything else. Try that.

  • Having difficulty setting up transparent GTK themes

I've been trying to set up a minimal dark transparent GTK theme to go with my i3/tint2 setup, using compton.
This is the theme I had in mind: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/?content=149606
Unfortunately, the end result has always been a pitch black gtk theme with no transparency whatsoever :(
The wiki, multiple forum posts, and endless RTFMing has lead me to a dead end... so I'm coming here as a last resort!

Welcome to the Arch Linux forums!
In such cases, it's mostly the best thing to ask the one who made those screenshots for how the transparency effect can be achieved.
As a more general note: Given the information you have provided us, it is difficult to determine what you have already tried, hence difficult to provide any useful help.

Have you read the compton man page? It seems the -i option may be right for you.
