Head End Build between MPLS and standard IP network

Hi,
I'm a bit new to MPLS to please excuse my ignorance if I'm completely wrong here, but here goes.
We provide standard IP services to our customers. We have recently gone into an agreement with an MPLS wholesale provider, where they supply our customers with MPLS connections. We then supply IP services to these customers such as SMTP POP and Web browsing etc.
We have a pipe into the MPLS providers MPLS cloud that provides such connectivity. This circuit is terminated on a 7206VXR on our network.
Each customer has their own DLCI on this circuit with a /30 subnet. There is then a BGP session for each customer using the /30 from our Head End Router to the MPLS Provider's P router.
The MPLS provider announces the customers subnets that are connected to the MPLS cloud to our Head End Router using BGP.
My issue is that I want routes announced from each BGP session to be injected into their own, per customer VRF table so that the routes are kept seperate from other customers routes.
I've setup a lab to simulate the above, but cannot seem to get it to work.
I suppose my question is does the MPLS provider's P router that our Head End connects to have to announce the BGP routes to us using VRF also or can it just use standard BGP and I can use a route map to place routes announced from a specific BGP peer IP into a per Customer VRF table?
Is this actually possible?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hello,
you probably would need a config like this on the Head end router:
ip vrf Cust1
rd 65000:1
interface Vlan10
description Customer1
ip vrf forwarding Cust1
ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.252
router bgp 65000
address-family ipv4 vrf Cust1
neighbor 10.1.1.2 remote-as 60000
neighbor 10.1.1.2 description ISP PE for Customer1
Adjust the interface names, IP addresses, RD, RT, etc. for your environment.
This would insert the routes learned from the mpls Provider into your VRFs. The scenario, by the way, is described in RFC2547bis section 10a.
You could off course also place filters and other stuff into BGP for security reasons depending on your requirements.
Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.

  • Relation between Preliminary and Standard Cost Estomate

    Hi,
I would like to know how preliminary cost estimate using product cost collector and standard cost estimate are related to each other.
I am not quite clear how both are used for a given plant in repetitive mfg scenario?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply,
My question do not need so many details for its answer.
I would just like to know if standard cost estimate will still be required even if we are using repetitive manufacturing or it gets handled through product cost collector.
I would like to know if there is any overlap between the two from process point of view.

  • Load balance between MPLS and VPN

    Dear All
There are two locations, site A and site B. I am confused with it. Any one can help to understand it? The site A and B are connected with two paths. One is MPLS and another is VPN over internet. we want MPLS as primary path and L2L VPN as backup. Only when primary path is down, VPN can be used. How can we configure it ? Can you give me suggestion ? or a link. Thank you.

    Hello yangfrank,
You can set this with a floating static using tracking with ip sla.
Your primary route will be via MPLS
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 x.x.x.x track 1 (via MPLS)
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 y.y.y.y 10 (via VPN)
    ip sla 1
    icmp-echo z.z.z.z source interface gix/x (MPLS interface)
ip sla schedule 1 life forever start-time now
track 1 ip sla 1 reachability
    here are examples:

  • Front end to facilitate sparql and/or RDF network browsing

    Hello
I have been looking at public tools to use as a front to our data in Spatial that will assist our users in creating queries (esp. across tables) and also browse the network or the ontology.
    I have looked at:
Protege: locks up when I attempt to load the data via the Oracle plugin (our data is not significant size, 8kb in triples) then looses the links between classes when it is loaded. I like this tool but can anyone offer tips on how to leverage the query ability?
Simile Longwell - cannot get jetty to correctly launch the browser on windows, added bug to Simile Jira. Does not connect to Oracle anyway...
Others (Rhodonite, Brownsause, ) want to work from a flat file, not Oracle. Are there plugins I do not know about?
Does anyone have ideas for others or guidance for using Protege?
    Thanks

  • ITunes 7 - syncing between Mac and PC using network

I thought there was an announcement today that Apple had made it easier to copy your iTunes library between Mac and PC with or without using an iPod.
I have not been able to find such an option in the iTunes 7 menus on my mac or pc. I could copy the library using standard network file copy, but then I would lose the playlists and settings.
Anybody know the new way to copy/sync a mac and pc itunes library while keeping playlists and settings?

  • Help me clarify: Difference between Joining and Extending Wireless Network

I've eventually figured out how to get my AirPort Express to allow my Mac Pro access to the internet Via Ethernet cable by joining an existing wireless network. What's the difference between that and extending it? By extending it I loose my ability to use the ethernet to connect to internet on my Mac Pro. Odd thing is though when I initially used AirPort Utility to set up my AirPort Express, I went through all the options to get it configured to access my existing network and I checked option to allow internet access through ethernet. All is well, but then I still don't have access to the internet through the ethernet and I noticed that the setting is on Extended. Just curious why it would give me the option to use the ethernet, set it on extended and not even work.

I've eventually figured out how to get my AirPort Express to allow my Mac Pro access to the internet Via Ethernet cable by joining an existing wireless network. What's the difference between that and extending it?
When "joining a network," the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) acts just like any other wireless client (laptop, desktop, printer, etc.) You would want to configure the AX to join a network when you only want to use it to share a USB printer and/or stream iTunes.
When "extending a network," the AX can perform as either a main, relay, or remote base station in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). A WDS is primarily used to extend a network wirelessly.
By extending it I loose my ability to use the ethernet to connect to internet on my Mac Pro.
If the AX is configured as either a relay/remote base station in a WDS, you actually can use it's Ethernet port for Internet access. Of course, this relay/remote must be connected to a main base station, that itself, has Internet access.

  • Compatibility Issues between Premium and Standard CS5.5?

    Hi all

Can anyone tell me if we have one machine with Premium CS5.5 and one machine Standard CS5.5 will there be any issues with sharing files?
We do share files alot on our network between us - mainly indesign files and illustrator files.
    Any ideas?

It’s the programs that are included. With Standard you don’t get Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash or the Extended version of Photoshop.

  • Exporting Multichannel MXF: Difference between adaptable and standard tracks

    Hello:
I have to export a mxf file with 4 channels:
    -1st channel: program stereo (L)
    -2nd channel: program stereo (R)
    -3rd channel: program stereo (L)
    -4th channel: program stereo (R)
I have a master stereo .wav, when creating the sequence, what is the difference between these two options?
    1:
-Making all the tracks standard, putting the master both in 1st and 2nd tracks
    -A1: output 1+2, A2: output 3+4
    2:
-Making all the tracks adaptable, putting the master only in 1st track
    -A1: output 1+3, A2: output 2+4
I don't understand what does Premiere do with adaptable tracks, how does it distributes the master's two channels?
    Thank you very much

    Ok, interesting update!
I opened two new projects in CS5, and imported the "problem" CS3 P2 export footage.  One project was preset to 1080p 24, the other set to 1080i 60.  Still pixelated in the 1080p, but clear in the 1080i project, only when paused.  Still pixelates when playing, even though resolution in the project window is set to full during both playback and pause.  That's good enough for me! It would appear that even though the footage was shot in progressive mode, it still needs to be a 1080i project.  Also, simply opening the CS3 project in CS5 and allowing automatic conversion opened the door to failure.  I read somewhere that CS5 is more strict about formats than prior versions, and it appears to be true.
Also, I've read that DVCProHD footage out of the HVX-200P is not really progressive, regardless of 24p mode settings.  That also seems to be true, based on this experience.
I'm still going to burn a BD-R just to make sure, and if I feel like blowing a second BD-R, I'll test the 1080p project export as well.  Hopefully, this thread can help others with similar footage.  I'm still curious what changes in the CS5 coding manifests this issue, where it didn't in CS3.  I imagine that will only be answered by one of the developers that wrote the code, or another Adobe employee that knows via said developer.

  • Why does airport cycle continually between "on" and "looking for networks"

I've been trying to find the answer to this for what seems like weeks. My macbook (Lion), my girlfriends macbook pro (Snowleopard) an iPhone 3G and an iPhone4 all seem to be unable to simply keep a steady connection to my WiFi.
They all connect, but then "looking for network", then "on" and repeat this cycle over and over.
I know this is effecting the signal and data transfer, because if i do a speedtest, you can see the signal drop off to next to nothing when its "looking for network" and come back to strength when "on"
This sometimes causes the connection to hang, or disconnect completely. The cycle length seems to vary, but is generally around 5-8 seconds. Then sometimes it is connected for say 7 secs and then looking for 12 secs.
This is not specific to my network either. My brother who lives 1.5 hours away has the same thing happening on his iMac, and if i log on to his network with my iPhone 4, it shows the same behaviour.
What the **** is going on?
My IP has tested stuff from their end, all is fine. If i connect via the ethernet, no problems. They have changed the router twice and are now sending another, but it must be a problem with Apple devices.
Any ideas?, have i missed the explanation/solution in my searches?
    thanks for any pointers

It should but then Mountain Lion who knows..
I recommend you reset the TC and use proper SMB network names.. for TC itself, wireless and hard disk.
Use fixed channels.. and different name for 5ghz.
    And WPA2 Personal security.
Did you upgrade install ML?? Or was it supplied with Mountain Lion... ?

  • How does WLC prevent layer 2 loops between mesh and different wired networks

    hi all,
i have a question in regards to layer 2 loops. in my network i have clients devices moving between 2 separated mesh networks. from WLC prespective, the mac addresses should've moved between multiple bridge group and wired network.
can someone please enlighten me how WLC prevent layer 2 loops?
i understand spanning tree in the wired network, but WLC is not using SPT in mesh
    thank you

Thanks for your help! This really helps a lot! We actually only want to replace the autonmous access point with the controller solution and make one WLAN available at another site. From what I can see, this is possible with our current solution - we just need to switch from Layer 2 to Layer 3 and purchase the corresponding amount of supported Access Points (I think we should be able to get some refurbished ones).
Am I correct in assuming that the Access Points we want to replace (AIR-AP1230B-E-K9 with 802.11b radio only) cannot be upgraded to lightweight ones? Since if I understood document http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html correctly, this is not possible with access points that only have 802.11b radios.
Regarding the switch from Layer 2 to Layer 3: Do we really only need to perform the steps I described in my first post?
And one last question regarding REAP. As far as I understood this is only needed when local traffic needs to be maintained in case the connection to the WLC becomes unavailable. So we really don't need it if we want to access resources that are only available over the WLC?
    Thanks again for your help!
    Michael

  • What is the difference between WDS and Extending a network?

What is the difference between the two? Why choose one over the other?

Both the WDS and "Extend a wireless network setting will add more coverage area to a wireless network.
WDS must be used if any device on the network is an older "g" device. The downsides to WDS are that it drops the overall wireless speed down to "g" levels (even if there are other newer "n" routers on the network) and cuts the bandwidth capability of the network in half for each "remote" device that is added to the network. That's a really severe loss in performance.
"Extend a wireless network" is a newer technology that can be used only if all of the routers on the network are newer "n" capable devices. It allows full "n" speeds and imposes only a small bandwidth penalty on the network. Obviously, this is the setup to use if your devices will support the technology.

  • What's the difference between WDS and Extend Wireless Network?

    Hi,
I have a situation where my main computer (Mac Pro) is wired to an Extreme (n), and I have an Express (n) in another room in the house to Bridge to other computers for better wireless reception.
The manuals say I should be connecting the wireless computer via WDS. The way I have it connected right now is as such.
    Extreme:
    Create a wireless network
Allow this network to be extended is checked
    Express:
    Extend a wireless network
    Allow wireless clients is checked
Is the above method correct, or should I be setting the Extreme and Express via: Participate in a WDS network?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I am not an expert on wireless networks but here is what they do in a nut shell:
WDS is a network composed by access points that work together to expand your network without the need of "wired" connectivity. so one of the bases will be wired, the rest are not , they just relay info to other computers... good for small to medium size business / homes
EWN is a network composed of wired & wireless networks/access points that work together to expand your network. pretty much you could have 5+ bases plugged in to a LAN / WAN covering different areas of your company / home (long range for medium / big business / Bill Gate's home, etc.).

  • Customized and Standard Report

How we can differentiate between Customize and Standard report???

    Hi Mike
thats a tough one, the PO generation is a bit restrictive to say the least when it comes to customizing. It sounds like you have worked out how to get your own template in there to render the PO.
On the data front, all I can think of is to customize and replace the seeded PO view with one that incorporates your extra data.
Or, get into the page customization world and write your own extract and format concurrent program/procedure and then hook it onto the buttons where you want to launch it.
You might have more luch, response wise from the EBS PO forum.
