Help about linking Pro*C/C++

I'm not expert at C don't understand what is failing with a program I'm trying to compile (Linux platform):
First I create a library by this Makefile (directory /home/oracle/fer_pro_c/API_3/libcsrirdb):

libcsrirdb.a: csrirdb.o
ar -q libcsrirdb.a csrirdb.o
csrirdb.o: csrirdb.c

And I try create and executable program called main by this Makefile (directory /home/oracle/fer_pro_c/API_3/libcsrirdb):

1) You can trim the space.
OR
2) convert to number. --> function atol()
OR
3) strncpy(to_string, from_string,8); -- copy 8 characters only
