HELP! Can't drive tv with Video adapter

Just bought the DVI to Video Adapter (M9267G/A) and tried to drive my TV using both an S-video and Composite video cable. No joy. I followed instructions on apple site: hooked up tv to adapter (it is on) and only then, hot-plugged the adapter into the MBP's DVI port. I see a brief flicker on the screen, but the TV's message "no signal" never disappears. Go to monitor controls and it only see's one display.
I tried hooking up and then booting up... I've tried s-video then composite...same negative results.
Anybody have a suggestion on what I'm doing wrong? I searched the forum and couldn't find any indication that this has already been answered.
Thanks!
2.16Ghz intel Core Duo 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   RadeonX1600

I've used the dvi-vga adaper to drive a projector. Inexplicably, I couldn't get it to drive my old apple display using the DVI to ADC adapter that I used to use to drive it with my previous 17" powerbook. Luckily, there is an apple repair center a few miles from my house. I'll take the adapter(s) and MBP in and see if they can trouble shoot. Makes me glad I bought applecare.
Thanks

I rented a movie and can watch preview perfectly with video and audio feed as signal strength is at highest when I checked. However, when I purchased rental video is fine , but I get scratched sound for audio. Any thoughts to fix? I rented movie within week and it worked. All previews of movies and show also works.

I have a suspicion that the problem is not in the recording device itelf, but rather in the playback-software, which is struggling with an unfamiliar audio format/codec/whatever-it's-called... I opened the file in QuickTime Player 7 (7.6.6) and selected "Show Movie Properties" and it says:
    "Video Track: H.264
    Sound Track: Integer (Little Endian)"
All current Mac systems support Integer (both Big and Little Endian) audio natively. The fact you can hear anything at all proves that the audio is playing back. The most likely problem would be a malfunction associated with the mic pickup.

  • Can't drive mapping with jre1.4.2_11

I need to drive mapping with jre1.4.2_11 in Windows applications but I can't.
If you change the file java.policy with all permission then the drive mapping works properly. But if you want to add permission only for the drive mapping?? Anyone knows about it??

First, you are not addressing Apple here. This is a user to user technical support forum. If you want to let Apple know something, you use this feedback link. [www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html]
As far as the voicemail, it had to be setup the first time, maybe they took care of it for you at the carrier. I'm not sure where you are, however if you are on AT&T, they will reset your password for you, you can log in with that, and then reset the password to something that you would remember easily. The voicemail password doesn't always get deleted when updating, but sometimes it does. It didn't for my update, but it did for my son's.

  • My MBP 13" can be used always with AC adapter?

    Simply (silly) question as subject.
I primary use my MBP 13" connected to AC adapter and only few times it is used with battery. I guess it is not good for battery health and with company notebook I use to remove it while I use it at home with AC adapter (I can't do it with the MBP).
    What to do? any suggestion?
    thank you in advance
    G

It will be fine to keep it connected nearly continuously to AC mains adapter. I've done that for years with PowerBooks and MacBooks, and MacBook Pro's. The charging system is very smart and won't harm the battery with overcharging. However, two things should be kept in mind.
    1. Don't let the laptop overheat. Heating a fully charged lithium battery reduces its charge capacity.
    2. A few times per month run the battery down to about 50% capacity to exercise it. Otherwise you may lose capacity faster than normal. Actually keeping it at 100% charge does somewhat reduce its shelf life, but removing the battery and risking data loss with power failures costs more than a battery.
    3. Every four months or so run the battery all the way down to the machine shutting itself off to recalibrate the capacity estimation system. This reduces physical charge capacity each time you run the battery all the way down, but is needed to keep the charge estimation systems in sync with the actual battery condition. Do not do this frequently.
This regimen allows me to keep my batteries in good condition for years despite running 98% of the time on mains.

  • Can i plug a DVI-Video adapter when system is on?

Apple manual says that i should shutdown my machine, but doing that many times a day is not very usable and since i have noticed huge GUI performance drop when using two monitors i cannot keep the DVI to Video adapter connected all the time.
Thus i was wondering if it was safe to connect it in the fly then connect the Composite cable and turn on the TV?
There should be no eletrical discharge in plugging a non powered adapter then a non powered composite cable.
Also would removal be safe, i mean this by safe for the display adapter?
I have tried and it works but i am just wondering how safe it is actually.

It would be completely dependent on the graphics card you have. And I don't think I have ever come across a graphics card that says it is "hot swappable".
I have from time to time, plugged and unplugged monitors while troubleshooting various problems, and not caused any damage. However, I would not think doing this on a regular basis is a good idea.
My advice, if this is something you are routinely going to do, find another way.

  • I need help, my iMac is swamped with video data,  1 TB of space and 950 GB is used by my video data! Help... its getting ugly

I have a 1 TB IMac, 950 GB of my iMac HD have been eaten alive by my Video Recordings of family events using my canon vixia hf 100 HD recorder.  I cannot use my computer now, due to lack of space on the hard drive.  I now own two 2 tb external hard drives.  All I want to do is make 2 DVD copies of each video event from imovie and have one back up of each event on one of my externals and another backup in my time machine which is on the other external.  It takes so long to transfer data  from my canon vixia hf 100 through imovie to a DVD.  I have swamped my Imac HD, and can't even burn a dvd to loosen the byte load.  Can i transfer my whole iMovie library to my free 2tb external and utilize it to maintain and store all iMovie data?????
    Help!

Depending on which version of iMovie you have it could be very easy, when you attach the external hdd to the mac it will appear in iMovie as one of the 'locations' where projects/events can reside. And you would move them ONLY from within iMovie, not outside of it. This will help keep any current projects and the events associated with them from breaking.
This is how it would work, attach the external hdd. Open iMovie go to the Projects Browser. Make sure you can see the external hdd in the list of devices. You then can drag the project directly over the icon of the external hdd. iMovie will ask you, do you want to move Events associated with this project? Go ahead and say yes and it will move the Events over too. So you might ask what about the events not already in a project? Well you can do the same thing down in the Event Browser too. Only you want to make sure iMovie knows you want to see all the hard drives attached to your computer not just the internal one. So there's an icon in the top right corner of the Event browser called Group Events by Disk. It has a cartoon icon of a hard drive on it. Just click it once to turn this on. You should now see the external hdd in the list. Drag all your Events onto that disk. So now for the moment of truth,. . .
Go up to your project browser and open up one of the projects FROM the external hdd and skim it, edit, add do something with it. Switch to a different project on the external try the same thing. Go down to the Event browser and check out some events on the External HDD as well. It should all be the same as it was on the Internal HDD. Last Step: Delete the now duplicate/original Events/Projects on the Internal HDD. You have perfect working copies on the external and do not need to keep the originals on the Internal HDD. Any time from this point forward you will only open Events/Projects from the external hdd and save back to that location. And iMovie will take care of the rest of it for you.

  • Help: A bluray drive compatible with MAc Pro 1.1 2006 2007

    Hi,
Seems my factory bundled Pioneer dvd drive is bad and I need a compatible bluray drive now.
I have read that there are some issues with some models of  Pioneer and LG drives.
I tried to install older LG DVD drives I had here and they just kept ejecting dvd discs.
However, they were able to burn cd-Rs.
I was advised to search for Pioneer Bdr-208dbk
    and LG WH14NS40MP  .
Here in Brazil we have similar names, maybe they are adapted for our country market.
I am using Toast 10 with OS 10.6.8.
    MAc Pro 2.66 8GB RAM.
    Any help is greatly welcomed!
    Thanks in advance!

  • Help, can´t synchronize calendar with outlook!?

I can´t synchronize all features with my blackberry curve 8900 with Outlook.
Addresses are working, calendar and notice not!
In the Synchrony-configuration of the Desktop Manager there is just for the calendar a Outlook-possibility.
For Calendar and notices there is just a possibility for ASCII or Yahoo?! No Outlook.
    Who can help?
    Thank you
    Hubertus Elster

Are you missing Outlook as a choice to choose from. What version of Outlook do you have installed on your computer? What version of the Desktop Manager are you running?

  • Can't use applications with Video. They use all my CPU

    Hi,
I'm having issue with ichat but also with any other application that uses video.
ichat is the worst though. If i start a video conference ichat will use about 35% of CPU and a few seconds into it will goes up to using 110% to 180% of my CPU and stay there! Then the video and audio become very choppy and the rest of my computer is almost unusable.
I didn't not have this problem when i was running tiger.
Photobooth does the same thing but not as intensely.
Would anyone know why?? I would love to solve this problem.
    Thank you!

This is what I've read indeed. Which scare me because my optical drive doesnt work anymore. It reject everything i put in there. So If the 10.5.3 makes my computer crash i've got no way of fixing it... I would have to reinstall but in order to do that i need an external cd drive which i do not have at the moment.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Tracking off when controlling a machine with video adapter connected

I have a bunch of machines connected to projectors and when I try to control the machines remotely, my view of the cursor is off (usually by an inch, give or take) from where the cursor is on the users screen.
It only shows one cursor, so it gets dicey trying to click on things when you don't actually know where you're clicking.
Unplug the adapter and control is back to normal.
Any idea what could be causing this?

  • Can i turn off integrated video adapter and use only discret video card?

pavilion g6 2284sr. I have not menu in BIOS to do this. I have not menu in Catalyst control center to activate discret card for all processes. i have not any rules for do anything with this problem. Pls can you give me bios programm version that wiil give me rules. I don't know is my discret card all right. Please do not describe me how i must to assign programms for each graphic adapter.
And where i can read information about all components of hardware for this notebook.

For each clip you can go to the audio portion of inspector and uncheck/disable the tracks you don't desire. That would take longer than Tom's method, but I think the audio won't show up as a blank later on.

  • Can't enforce sequence with polling adapter when faults

I'm trying to process records in sequence using a polling adapter and the update sequence table strategy
I have a polling adapter that invokes a composite app which calls an OSB service over http/soap.
polling adapter -> composite app -> OSB -> db adapter
On successful processing, the polling adapter updates a sequence table.
In the event of a fault, I expect the sequence table not to be updated and the failed record to be tried again on the next polling interval. However, even on failure, the sequence table is being updated.
My bpel component has the property
    <property name="bpel.config.transaction" many="false" type="xs:string">required</property>
.. and a catch clause which throws a rollback on remote faults
The next polling interval picks up the next record and the problem repeats. We have then 'lost' the unprocessed record(s).
How can I force the polling adapter to block on failed records?
    Thanks
    Garret

    Issue solved.
Setting jca.retry.count=unlimited causes the adapter to behave as we want.
We had set jca.retry.count = 1 on the mistaken understanding that this related only to a failure to query/poll the database, and that sequence number was updated in a separate context that needed a global transaction to coordinate/rollback.
We don’t even need to propagate our global transaction from polling adapter to bpel component since all our writes happen in an OSB transaction; Our bpel just (re)throws a fault back to the polling adapter which is enough to trigger retry.

  • Can Acrobat XI Pro with videos provide good security?

eBooks provide a good basis for use of videos. I reviewed the process to use videos within Acrobat X (I?). Much of the information related to completion of forms and collaborative projects.  Apparently InDesign does not have a way to include videos. I have prepared iBooks using iBooks Author. The result, even as a novice, was fine. However, Adobe's CC relationship encourages use of several robust software, such as Audition, that would enhance my use of videos.  Rather than switch between PC, needed for an only PC program, and a MAC  I would like to configure future eBooks within the PC environment.  Apple's iBooks environment provides indicated security, even with an assortment of media types(videos, slide shows, Qs and As).  Acrobat XI appears to be a good resource with its new video inclusion capability.  However, security is an important element.  Does Acrobat XI provide sufficient security to prevent abuse of copyright material?
