Help changing fqdn?
When I set up my server, I used the fqdn for our school website, which was fine except that the website is hosted elsewhere, and so when someone inside the school tries to go to school website (which I would like everyone to use as home page) the server (doing DNS) thinks it is looking for a website that doesn't exist. I have tried several workarounds, but I think it would be great if I could just change the fqdn of the server. Doesn't sound very easy- I have about 200 users with home folders on the server. My plan is: Backup OD database. Change server from OD Master to standalone. Run changeip using same old ip address, but new fqdn. then I am a little fuzzy on what to do next, but basically restore OD users, reset everyone's passwords, promote server back to master. Am I missing something? I did try something similar, but I didn't demote server to standalone, and I was unable to edit Open Directory LDAP Search base???
When I restore OD, won't all my users home folders still point to the wrong location?
OK, maybe I posted this in the wrong place- my main problem (I think) is in getting the open directory to work after the switch- I tried twice, and ended up restoring from a backup, and am now back where I started- right now everyone can login, but noone can get to the school website from inside the school- because the server's fqdn is the same as the school website - so it looks for the website, which is NOT hosted on the server, and can't find it, so you are re-directed to the unknown search page. Is there any other way to make this work? Maybe host a copy of the website locally, or manually direct the DNS on the server to point to the actual ip of the website? Is there anybody out there?

Plug the iphone in and go to the music tab in the iphone,not your itunes library.There will be a button in the borrom right that says autofill. Click that and it should thransfer all your music. It worked for me,and i had the same problem.

I am a hold out to an I Pad. Help change my mind! I travel and while gone, for several months at a time, have always managed my photos on my laptop on a daily basis. This means deletions, naming, filing in folders. Is this possible on an I Pad? I have just returned from a 2 month trip with several thousand photos. If I had waited to name and file these until I got home, it would be misery.
The iPad is a great device but it can't do all things. To accomplish all the tasks you mention I feel a laptop is the best tool.

Need help changing the default Save Path
Hello,
We are implementing SAP, and will be using Citrix as the source for the GUI. One of our requirnments are, that we need to change the default "Save Path" that users save documents too. By default, this is to the C drive, but, we need it set to a different drive (i.e. V: on the citrix server).
We found this note on SDN (see below) - however, it does not explain how to change or add this registry value? Is this done in the GUI options, or in regedit? If in reg-edit, where abouts in the tree does it go?

(As of SAP GUI 7.20, patch level 4) the REG_EXPAND_SZ registry value InitSaveDir can be used to configure the default path and folder for users to save the reported information in case of an access denial due to security rules. If users change the default path and save the information to an individual location, this new path will be kept as long as the user does not terminate the program. When starting SAP GUI again, users will get the configured default path again to store the reported information, the individual path changes will be lost. If the registry value does not exist, the default directory is the document directory of the SAP GUI.
By default none of the above registry values exists. In order to change the behavior of the security module, the registry values need to be created and set to the desired value. A not existing registry value means use the default.

im just a mom, not very computer savy.....however, I need to change the payment method my daughter uses to purchase things on her ipad due to the fact that the current one is expiring. ie: for such things like songs and games, etc.

THanksOn a computer's iTunes you should be able to edit the payment info by going into the Store > View Account menu option (if you are not logged into the account that your daughter is using then Store > Sign menu option to log out of the currently logged in account ; that will then change to a Store > Sign In option so that you can log into her account) and log into the account (enter the account's password and click View Account on the popup)
And on the account's details page there should be a payment link.
If you are doing it on your iPad then tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store (if not logged into her account then log out of your account via the popup that you get and then log in with her account) and tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into the account - that should also give you a payments link on your account's page.

Need help changing from SQL dbo to mdf file
My project was started using dbo is there a way to change this to an mdf without changing out the database.
I think you answered my question the datasets in my project are connected to sqlexpress instance, Iwant to remove this connection and add a connection to an MDF file in my project. Maybe this will help explain my question better.
You cannot directly add connection to mdf file.But you can achieve this by first attching this MDF file to SQL express( this has some limitations like max of 4 Gfile can be attached to Sql server 2008 and 10 G for 2012).Is this you want to achieve ?

I need help changing a drop down menu on a template

ive been using dreamwearver on and of for a few years now and just about get by, ive just bought a web site template and although ive managed to ajust most things,
the template had a drop down menu using CSS currently on the "about us" option a sub menu drops down, ive worked out how to add to this menu and change the words
but what i cant do is have this same drop down menu on another part or the menu system for example i would like another drop down menu on the "our menu" part
any help would be much appreciated

Help changing permissions using a shell script
Hey,
Here's the situation. We have 18 Macs, they're all cloned from a master image and have 2 local accounts - Administrator and Student.
There are some files on the machines that the student account does not have permission to access, but it's critical that they do. I've written a shell script to change the files so that everyone has permission to read, write and execute them:

sudo chmod ugo+rwx /Library/Application\ Support/Digidesign/Plug-ins/FM8.dpm
In theory, this means I can just run the script, type the admin password in once and its done (as opposed to typing in the password 4 times and navigating to each file individually.)
However, this doesn't quite work as planned.
If I run the script, navigate to the files using the Finder and 'get info' it declares that "Everyone" can "Read & Write". The student account can see the file properly, but the finder just thinks there's nothing there (Size=Zero KB.) Only when I explicitly add the Student account (Add->Student) and set it to "Read & Write" does it start working.
2 questions really - Why does it do this, and how do I make it work?
It was my understanding that if everyone could read, write and execute there wouldn't be a problem, regardless of which account tries to access the file?
Also, if there is a better/easier/faster way of doing the same thing I'm open to suggestions.

Your reply was helpful, I didn't realise you could tie all the paths together and just use one chmod command.
I actually solved the issues myself this morning (fresh head on after a good nights sleep!)
It turns out the 'files' I'm trying to modify aren't strictly files at all, they're packages. Using just chmod changes permissions for the top of the package only (hence why I could see the files but they said Zero KB.)
adding -R to the chmod modified permissions to everything inside the package as well, which has resolved the issue.
