Help, I cannot find 2 books I purchased on iTunes ... Why?

I downladed 2 books, and though it says they are downloading, I do not see any evidence of that. So I quite itunes and got back in and tried it again. It recognizes that I did purchase the books but the downloading is not occuring...??? I also noticed in the Column browser that the "iBooks" icon is no longer present? I do have one book that I downloaded last year and it is accessible on my iPhone but I gues (now) not on my computer. So I guess I am a little upset with the guys and gals at apple. I sure hate Steve Jobs is no longer with us ... I think he would make that correction happen very quickly!
I do have the iBook app on my phone I even deleated it and then reloaded it again but I think I will delete it then reinstall it and see if that works!

Are you really still running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.8) as it says in your profile above? Or might you have upgraded to the current OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks?
If you're running Mavericks, there is now a separate iBooks app in Mavericks. Look for it on your dock.

Audiobooks cannot be redownloaded, so you cannot do this from an iPad or iPhone, at least not without intervention from the iTunes Store. If you have a computer at home, log into your iTunes Store account and look under the Store menu in iTunes for the "Check for available downloads" command and run that. You may find the audiobook there to be downloaded.
If not, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department from their Support page (click "Contact Support" and follow the instructions to get to the contact form) and explain the problem to them.

If you downloaded it on your Mac's iTunes then it should be in the Books part of your library (Audiobooks if you are using OS X Mavericks), if on an iOS device then it should be in the device's Music app.
By 'purchased list' you mean yoru purchase history or the Purchased link for redownloading ? If the latter then audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store so they won't show in Purchased for redownloading, you need to copy or sync it to the computers or iOS devices that you want it on.

That is correct - hopefully it will be added with an update - for now you have to do it prior to Import - HoudahGeo hopes to be able to do it directly to the Photos library later also and is a good solution for Geotagging

As Limnos says, you first need to update to OS X 10.6.8 before you can install iTunes 11 (please note the version numbers).
To update OS X close all running applications and make sure you have a current backup. Then pull down the Apple menu and select Software Update. This may show you several items that you can update. Choose OS X 10.6.8. This may take some time. After the process is complete you will be able to run Software Update again and it ought to offer you iTunes 11.

Did you do the regular sync wirelessly or via iTunes on your computer? There are a couple ways to get the book on your devices.
You can connect to your computer and open iTunes. When your device is recognized click it once to open it. Click on the Books Tab in iTunes and check the book you want to sync. Click Apply, then Sync and the book will be on that device.
You can open iBooks on your device and click on Store, then Purchased and either all or Not on this iPad and download the book on your device.

Try Deauthorize your account and then Authorize the account to see if any changes occur. Also there may a resolution in the second article that can be helpful as well.

Most people would be much better off buying electronic books from the Amazon Kindle store. Through the use of the Kindle apps, Kindle books can be read on iOS devices, Kindle readers, computers, etc. They are much more useful than Apple's iBooks.
