Help me with Windows 8 UEFI mode

I am using the latest bios for my Z77 GD65, 10.9 BIOS
I have selected BIOS Mode Select: UEFI
And i have installed the Windows 8 in UEFI mode. Both of my partitions have GPT conversion, so uefi mode is installed, in msinfo32, says BIOS Mode: UEFI.
I have 2 problems
1. My debug led from the motherboard doesn't display anymore my CPU temperature, it displays a RO message
2. Is normal that when the Windows 8 boots, it shows me the Msi Logo, instead of the classic windows logo ?
3. If i want to enable from the BIOS the windows 8 feature, and Secure Boot, it gives me an error something with a logo graphics card, and some thing called GOP.

Should be a s it is directly booting from the board's UEFI.

To enable Windows 8 features the vga's vbios needs to be GOP (Graphics Output Protocol) compliant.
Quote from: http://www.uefi.org/learning_center/UPFS11_P4_UEFI_GOP_AMD.pdf
The Graphics Output Protocol (GOP) is enabled by UEFI driver to support graphic console output in the pre-OS phase.
The ultimate goal of GOP is to replace legacy VGA BIOS and eliminate VGA HW functionality.
You can request a GOP vbios for the GTX680 Lightning: Quote from: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=167763.0

  • Install Captivate 4 on Windows 7 64-bit machine with Windows XP mode?

    Hi,
I have been searching the web to find out the best way/place in which to load Captivate 4 on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. Seems some people have issues with recording, others don't. I have Windows XP mode on my machine.
My question is... what's the best way to load Captivate 4 on Windows 7 - should I install to Windows 7 and see how it goes. Or should I install under Windows XP mode?
    Thank you!
    Michele

Yea it works in XP mode

Try running Cp4 in WinXp compatibility mode on Win7.  Also make sure
you're set to Run as Administrator.
I run Cp4 on Win7 without issues.  But other users report similar problems
to yourself.  In the end, it may or may not work for you because Adobe has
never claimed Cp4 was compatible with Vista or Win7 64bit.

  • Export my data with windows safe mode

i have problems with windows server 2003 st that i can open windows in safe mode only ,
i want to export my data in that case !!!
    Any Help ...

That's a Windows, not an Oracle problem. Safe mode is only suitable for OS maintenance tasks, not for regular working. Many services don't run, dlls are not loaded. Solve your basic problem, then start Oracle again.

  • Help needed with Windows

    Hi All
Hope you can help as i am basically a Linux user who has a new laptop, Lenovo G700. I will be putting Linux on eventually but until then i have decided to have a go with Windows and have got ...... nowhere. I have done all the windows updates i then go to the windows 8 store and download the upgrade to windows 8.1 the update downloads, installs but during installation the computer reboots the installation continues (i presume thats what it s doing) the installation appears to finish and the computer reboots again and during checking devices it gets to about 25% and the screen appears to have powered off but it is still running then after 20 to 30 min it goes to sleep and pressing the power key wakes it up again at this point the only option is to press and hold the power key and the machine restarts and says the update has failed a reverts back to windows 8.
    Things i have tried -
Restored to laptop to factory default
    installed all windows updates
updated the grafix and network drivers to latest versions
windows 8.1 still fails to install.
I have checked the compatability list and the G700 shows a s conpatable with windows 8.1

  • Help needed with Windows 8.1 boot and recovery issue

Hi. I hope someone can help me out with this Windows 8.1 issue. A friends computer (HP 2000-2c27CL Notebook) was badly infected and while I was able to do some cleaning in normal Windows I had to do some in Safe Mode. I was not being able to access Safe Mode so I went to Advanced Startup Options in Windows 8, Troubleshoot, then Advanced options, and finally the Command Prompt. Using the command prompt I typed "bcdedit /set {default} safeboot network" to have Safe Mode with Networking. Ever since I did that I haven't been able to get Windows to do a normal boot. I always get Safe Mode. I can't get back to Advanced Startup Options either. Via msconfig in Safe Mode I selected the Normal startup button on the General tab and selected apply and then ok. It then prompted me to restart the computer which I did. This did not fix the issue as I continue to get Safe Mode every time I start the computer. I also tried to do a complete system restore by typing "Recovery" in Windows 8 which brought up the HP Recovery Manager. Once in there I selected the Windows Recovery Environment and it prompted me to reboot the computer. I was expecting to get to an area where I could do a complete factory restore, but I again got booted into Safe Mode. What the heck is going on? The person who has this computer has no restore media... no USB or DVD discs made. There is however a recovery partition I believe, but as I said I can't do anything because I keep getting Safe Mode. Also I tried to use a antivirus emergency boot disk with this computer and I could not get it to boot from the DVDRom drive. I went into the BIOS and saw that Legacy is disabled and UEFI appears to be enabled by default. How am I to change the boot order to get it to boot from the disk and do scans for malware? I thought I did it correctly by moving the Rom drive to the top of the list, but that didn't work. I despise Windows 8x!!!
Help with this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi HPenn, welcome to the HP Forums. Unfortunately if you are unable to perform a recovery using any of the available methods:  Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
You will have to order recovery media:  Order software and driver media
    I hope this helps.

  • Help needed with windows 7 and old deskjet 870Cse not printing

    System:
    Windows 7 and Deskjet 870Cse.
Because my new laptop does not have the traditional old printer cable port, it only has USB ports, I purchased a USB Parallel printer cable.  Hooked it up and system recognized it as a Unspecified Device (IEEE-1284 Controller).  It does not recognize it as a printer.
Because it is not recognized I can not print anything.
Any ideas/help on how to get the drivers installed or to have it recognize the printer would be appreciated.
    UPDATE:
I was able to get the driver and add a new printer and now can select to print to it.   However, the head moves and everything but when the page come out there is nothing on the page.
Any ideas?  I know there used to be a program to clean the heads but I don't have that now on this computer or don't know where to find it.  Any thoughts?

    Hi there mmcdermott,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here (to ensure there are no problems with the drivers etc installed):
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • BT Desktop Help Incompatible with Windows 8.1

After updating my PC from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - I found the Windows Desktop Help wouldn't run.  I had earlier updated BT Help to it's latest version.
    The error I got was:
    Minimum specification
We have detected that you are using an operating system not currently supported by BT Desktop Help. The supported operating systems are :
Windows XP SP1 or higher (32-bit)
    Windows Vista
    Windows 7
    Windows 8
This isn't a particularly high priority issue, but it is irritating and as Windows 8.1 has been trailed for quite a while now it does seem a little embarrassing to BT that they couldn't have resolved this in their latest BT Help release.

Had the same problem... updated to W 8.1 on the given hour, then just an hour or so later had a info window to update my dth... then got the same incompatibility info window as mentioned above. As already said, 8.1 has been available for developers for some considerable time, just what we have come to expect from BT I guess. The BT vision OS [Oregon?] is absolute **bleep**, we cancelled ours its so bad, continual freezing & certainly less intuitive than the old os. I emailed bt earlier regarding 8.1 & dth this is before i read this posting, i got back a long winded 'fix' [see below, but dont waste your time trying it! as others have said dth is a load of **bleep** & didnt work properly anyways]... what a bunch of a-h's when they know dth doesn't work with 8.1!!! I have a dislike for Murdock & all he stands for but through necessity, can see us going with sky next year... been with BT for a good few years, the past 2 have seen service, both technical & practical plummit at an alarming & continuing rate..
    disgusted!!!

  • Help requested with Windows Portable Directories

    Setup:
    Tiger Server 10.4.11
Everything is setup up perfectly and all Mac users can login and use their portable home directories. Everything works great.
    Here's my question:
Is it possible to replicate the same behavior when logging in from Windows XP?
I setup a test user (WINUSER) and pointed him to the same share I use for the Mac home directories.
How do I set it up so that when I log in with this user from Windows XP, that Windows XP creates a local account and syncs it with the Mac OS X server (the same way that the Mac laptops do it).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Figured it out.

  • Issues with windows kernel mode debugging in Win8 RTM

    Here is the setup:
Host: Win8 x64 RTM, supported Realtek NIC, Visual Studio 2012, WDK8, Latest Coinstallers
Target: Win8 x64 RTM, supported Realtek NIC
Clean install, no firewall, no UAC, in a workgroup

Automatic provisioning of the target completes without errors, but trying to attach the debugger does not work.  It never connects.
    Am I missing something?

I am encountering the same issue debugging a KMDF driver on VS2012.   Both machines are in the same workgroup and both are running WS2012 Data Center Edition.  I tried running a command prompt and various other items on the target, but
it never connects.  I even tried running a VM on the local machine in Hyper-V.   Same issue.
Kernel debugger connection works fine in WinDBG, just never connects in VS2012.
Any updates on this from Microsoft?

If it is new, why Oracle 8.0? It was never designed to work with any current operating system and I would be surprised if anything about it works.

  • External Hard drive help: use with mac and pc? how to backup everything etc

Hello! I need some help regarding a new external hard drive I got from OWC. It is a 500 gb firewire 400 + usb 2.0 7200 rpm hard drive. I am running it from firewire. The software suggests the first thing you do is make a clone of your macbooks internal hard drive, that way if it fails later you can use the external to back everything up. If I do this ...
    1. do I have to make the drive "Bootable" ? I have software called Data Backup 3 by Pro soft I think. It came with my external.
    2. Can I still back up other stuff like my audio recordings and record onto that drive to a seperate folder?
    3. If I make a bootable copy will it try and boot from the drive everytime I turn it on or something?
My other question is... how can I use this drive with a pc? I have a pc as well and I heard that the only way it will work is to format it in ms-dos mode (fat32?)
If I write it to fat32 will it slow down my drive or make it worse? I heard that you should format external drives specifically for mac if you have a mac; so it will only work with macs...
(sorry this is going on and on; it's like a chain reaction of questions)
so If its formatted to mac drive format then can I do this with my current situation:
    1. I have wireless internet, the router is on a pc downstairs
    2. Can I send files over a network somehow from the pc to my mac
    3. then store it on my external?
If so can someone point me in that direction with a link?
Thank you for reading, sorry for making this so long.

    1. No, you don't have to make a bootable clone.
    2. If you use the drive for a bootable backup, then you cannot use the drive for other types of storage unless you partition the drive and make more than one volume.
    3. No, it will not try to boot the computer. You must designate the startup volume using Startup Disk preferences.
If you wish to use the drive on both a Mac and a PC, then either you make two partitions - one for Mac and the other for the PC or you must format the entire drive using FAT32 so the drive can be used for read//write by both operating systems. If you do this then you cannot use the drive for a bootable backup nor can you use it with Time Machine.
FAT32 is slower for read/write on the Mac than using Mac formatting.
Optimally, I would suggest you partition the drive into two volumes. One volume formatted for the Mac and the other formatted FAT32.
You can send files from a PC to a Mac and vice-versa using File Sharing. Select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "file sharing" or "sharing" to find help articles. Also see,

  • Get an error for changing the windows authentication mode to the both SQL and windows authentication mode

I installed the SQL server Express 2008 R2 and then SQL Server Management Studio 2008 R2 . But during the installation, I could not choose the both SQL and windows authentication mode and an error accrued so I did that just with windows authentication mode.
Now, I want to change the windows authentication mode account to the SQL authentication mode but it shows me an error which is you do not have permission (Although I am the administrator in windows), what can I do?
Following steps are the steps that I went but I got an error:
Server properties >> security >> choose the option of SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode
and the error that I got is attached(access is denied)
    Can you please help me?

You can change the setting after you gain admin rights to your SQL Server. You don't admin rights automatically, you have to explicitly add yourself during the install
Here's a guide on how to (re)gain those rights:

  • "User Not Recognized" when installing UPK with Windows Authentication

    Hi all,
When installing UPK Server with Windows Authentification mode, everything work fine until when the installer starts populating the Library. I get an error message saying "User is not recognized. Please enter a valid administrator user name and password. Click OK to enter another name or click Cancel to stop the upgrade process."
I tried using "my current Window account" and different Windows account when asking to give a default Developer admin login during the install but I still get the same message.
I might be forgeting something this time since I have installed UPK tones of times and never got this error.
    Many thanks.

    Hello,
Thank you!! After much testing and environment and OS changes, I found out that I totally forgot my Windows administration from over 7 years ago on a security feature that Microsoft put into their OS's. If you are using a friendly DNS name to publish to your clients (instead of them typing in the server name as the URL) and you want to utilize Windows authentication, a registry entry will need to be entered in order for the OS to be allowed to pass the windows auth through to that URL as well.
    Example registry entry:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0]
    "BackConnectionHostNames"=hex(7):
    KB Article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861
In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0
Right-click MSV1_0, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
Type BackConnectionHostNames, and then press ENTER.
Right-click BackConnectionHostNames, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the host name or the host names for the sites that are on the local computer, and then click OK.
