Help Needed-bt home hub 2.0 event log messages

Hi, Please can someone have a look at the event log messages below. Is someone trying to hack me? there are loads more of these messages i've only copy and pasted a few of them.

Hi JM7HUB and welcome,
No, you're not being hacked. It's to do with BTHub phone (Broadband Talk - BBT) and the hub, in your case the hub 2A.
It's a test that BT seem to carry out, normally (IIRC) after a reboot of the hub or possibly at random times - it's been a long time since I used BBT. I'll guess there are some random names mentioned on some of the other VOIP events?
If you don't use a BBT, you can turn this off by entering the hub manager - type bthomehub.home or 192.164.1.254 in to your browser, click settings, advanced settings, continue to adavnced settings, telephony - there should be an option there to turn it off. This should then stop the events.
edit. The telephone light on the hub will go out, but any registered hub phone should still operate as a 'normal' phone using your landline number.

  • Home Hub 3 - no event log for a month

    I tried and failed to access the Hub Manager home page yesterday.
    I tried several PCs / operating systems / browsers without success.
    Eventually, I rebooted the router and managed to access the page.
    Having logged in I found that no entries had been added to the event log since the early hours of November 18th (just over a month ago) although the broadband has been working fine.
    Has anybody else had similar experiences? As a generally paranoid individual I am not too happy that there are missing event log items!!

    I am trying to connect my new ipad to my BT Home Hub but keep getting a message saying that I am unable to join the Home Hub network.  Any advice?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app

        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Homehub 3.0 Wireless Event Log messages

    Hello,
    Can anyone tell me what event log messages like the following mean?
    3 consecutive beacons have not been transmitted
    I'm getting these about once every 20 minutes.  Smart Wireless is enabled.
    A couple of days ago Wireless became unstable, devices connecting and reconnecting repeatedly. The Wireless light was randomly flashing on and off (Blue) every few seconds.  I had to restart the homehub (which I didn't really want to do, as I was still within my first 10 days, with Infinity).  But after the restart, the admin password had changed.  I assumed it was reset to the original one, but that was also not recognised.  I had to do a password override to get access.
    Ever since then Wireless has been behaving itself but I'm still left with these strange event log messages - google comes up with nothing.
    Any ideas?

    Although I've not had opportunity to obtain one of these hubs (BT are you listening), as I'm still on the hub 2, I'll try to help you out with this...
    It looks like the hub is reporting that it can't transmit the wireless signal on the chosen channels, why, I'm not too sure
    (this might be due to the design (how 'Smart Wifi' works), or dare I say it, the hub could be faulty!!!!!)
    Firstly, download either inSSIDer2 (Windows) or istumbler (MAC) - take care when installing, uncheck any 'additional freebies' as they're not needed.
    Either will show all the wireless SSIDs in your area. As I use inSSIDer2, I'll explain what to do using this one, I guess itsumbler would be similar (not a MAC man, yet!)
    Disconnect from your own hub, run inSSIDer and monitor any SSIDs, I recently noticed that 2 of my neighbours (VM) routers appears to grab channel 1 upto channel 7!
    This keeps changing and they keep fighting with each other. As this was affecting me, I've moved to channel 8. This can be manually set via the hub manager, but you'd probably need to switch off 'Smart Wifi'
    Ideally, take a screenshot of the results BUT remove ANY wireless SSID's, it's the channels in use that's important.

  • Problems with using System.Diagnostics.EventLog to retrieve event log messages

    In my app I am retrieving error and critical events from application and system log - but for some reason what it is returning doesn't tally with what I see in event viewer
    For example:-
    1) Source is SideBySide and shows in event viewer with Event ID of 33 - but in my app it is returning an event ID of 3238068257 - all other details such as message are correct - other event sources show fine
    2) A lot of the system event log messages are showing wrong error message - in event log it shows correctly but in my app it is retrieving messages like this "The description for Event ID '41' in Source 'Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power' cannot be
    found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display message, or you may not have permission to access them" - I am running the app with admin rights?, so not sure why not showing same message as it
    shows in event viewer i.e "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

  • Listing of controller Event log messages?

    Does anyone know where to find a listing of the Controller event log messages?
    I've got a device that is failing to associate for "ReasonCode 2" but I can't figure out what ReasonCode 2 is.

    No, I did not see any authentication messages.
    The person who was having the association problem is now working; nothing changed on either the controllers or the client.
    I was hoping to find a reference for all the codes so I could look this stuff up myself.
    If you happen to know where I could find that I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Newbee Needs Help. BT Home Hub Wireless connectio...

    Dear Forum,
    As a newbee I thought I would ask the masses. I have a black home hub 2. It is hard wired to a number of PC's in the house, plus it also provides a wireless connection reliably most of the time. Occationally, every day/other day it refuses to provide a reliable IP address. My wireless is set as follows:-
    Channel 11, WEP, 64 Bit.
    Current firmware
    Version 8.1.H.J (Type A)
    Last updated
    08/12/09
    I can attach fine normally, but then it fails to connect (on a know working machine) after a reboot. I get the error "Limited or no Connection". This occurs with Pc's running VISTA, and Macs?
    The only resolution I have found is to RESET the hub. Then all devices attach fine. If I disable wireless on my portable and re-enable it, it also fails. Once in a failed state its only resolution is to RESET.

    you might want to change the wireless settings of the hub to 802.11 b/g to see if this makes a difference, also can try change the wireless channel as well to see if that makes a difference

  • HELP! BT Home Hub won't stay connected

    Hi, was wondering if anyone here could possibly help, please, particularly with interpretation of ADSL Line stats/errors?
    Trying to cut a v.v. long story short, been using BT Broadband with original BT Home Hub (1.0/1.5?) for approx. 6-7 years with recent average speed of just over 6Mb. No problems at all, apart from v. occasional connection drops, and minor, brief drops in speed.
    As of middle of May frequent connection drops. Numerous contacts with BT, connected Home Hub to Master socket, new ADSL filters, new BT Home Hub (2.0A), etc. TWO visits from engineers, first fixed a “very minor” fault on line caused by “old connection” in junction box outside neighbours house, but told line now fine, which 2nd engineer confirmed when he came to install new HH version 3 last Wednesday. But since this problem started (back in middle of May) have hardly ever gone more than about 10 – 15 hours without a loss of connection (nearly got to 72 hours ONCE!).
    At times there can be 3 or 4 dropouts in 20 – 30 minutes, other times just a single dropout. When it is connected speed is never really an issue, still on average just over 6Mb. Doesn’t seem to be any particular times of day, although obviously we tend to notice more during late afternoon/evenings when more of us are connected.
    Ran out of patience ages ago, now running out of ideas, but if anyone has got any, would be much appreciated, especially an interpretation of ASDL stats and errors.  Here are the current stats, (NB Currently connected to Master (only) socket via new face-plate with built-in filter installed by 1st engineer).

  • Help re: lost Home Hub

    I was living in student accomodation untill the turn of the year, where a family incident lead to me moving home.
    We signed the 18 month contract for phone and broadband, and since the last of my then housemates have moved out, I tried to get hold of the homehub from the residence. However, the landlord has either taken it or thrown it out before new tennants moved in because it isn't there anymore. How would I go about getting a replacement hub, and roughly how much would this set me back??

    Help please, my local exchange upgraded broadband on 6th aug, I got great download speeds for about a week then I noticed when I used phone  the broadband would drop then come back on then drop again when the call finished. Called India to report problem, usual stuff like change filters which I did but no change engineer was sent and checked line said fault was at exchange, was later told all was ok was still getting dropped broadband so I again went through process of changing filters (I have about 6 different ones) and tried different sockets as well as the main one, suddenly all seemed ok but my download speed dropped to below 1.5mb, openreach engineer called and did his checks on line and said I have a good connection and he got my profile reset, great I thought, no chance speed still 1.5 at best even though my sync speed was over 13.000, India have again reset my profile but still poor download speed.
    could my home hub be at fault?

    Hi,
    I found this happened at me friends house where the extention was wired up incorrectly.  Also, she had a double plug on the main phone sockect, one for phone and other had filter plugged in for home hub!
    Once we fixed the extention by ripping it out and plugging the filter in first at the main socket all was resolved.
    We also found that if you have a filter at the main socket and extention plugged into that and another filter added at end of that extention would cause issues!

  • Need Help to extract information from Windows Security Event log

    Hi Everyone,
    My challenge is to create a script that queries the Security event log for event id 4624 , logon type 2 and 10, then export the result to file, hopefully tab limited.
    I need the time - date - User Account - Workstation - IP address - Logon Type.
    I have had a go, checking out other advice from other questions, but i'm just not getting what I want.

    A good point to start is get-eventlog with where clauses.
    For example:
    get-eventlog -log security  | where {$_.eventID -eq 4624}
    So you want to get the entire security log, and then filter it client side? (Some of these logs can be massive).
    I would recommend Get-WinEvent with -FilterHashTable (Filter on the left) which will filter against the log directly.

    You might have admin rights issues accessing the security logs.
    You're right - my answer was only a first step to try "get-command *event" and eventually get-help.....

    Welcome to this forum.
    Its a Spanning Tree Protocol alert. It usually means that somehow you have created an Ethernet loopback condition.
    This can be caused if you connect more than one Powerline adapter to the home hub, or if you have somehow connected two home hub LAN ports to the same Ethernet switch. This can cause all sorts of problems.
    The affected Ethernet port (0) had been blocked.
    What do you have connected to the Ethernet ports of the home hub?

    I have a scenario where in I need to download data from an Info Spoke.
    I am able to download the data and save it, but the file which is getting saved is not having the column names.
    Ineed to have the columns also in the saved file.
    Can someone help me in accomplishing this?

    Hi,
    If you are downloading from Infospoke using an ABAP prog, you can have a internal table for populating the data you want to write into output file and then you can put the column names in the first row of this internal table using ABAP code. You can then append actual data in the following rows of the same internal table and use GUI_DOWNLOAD function module to actually download the data into a file.

    I would not recommend to use the changed()/isChanged() methods. They represents "dirty flags" used by our framework in certain situations ("delta handling"). I don't think that applications need access to it, except in certain situations. Anyway, these flags are set whenever an attribute is changed and reset at the end of the roundtrip.
    isChangedByClient() represents a different set of "dirty flags" whose reset is under the application's control. They are set whenever a user changes an attribute (through the Web Dynpro client), but not when server-side code does such a change.
    In NW04, these flags are quite coars-grained. A node element is marked as changed when any of its attributes has been changed.

  • Advice needed on home hubs

    Hi all,
    I'm currently on a long line and having slow speed problems and drop outs. I'm looking to buy a new hub as a last ditch attempt to improve the situation, my line attenuation is 63.5dB.
    Can anyone offer advice as to whats the best to purchase for a long line?, hopefully not too expensive.
    I have read that the bt2700hgv is quite good, appreciate any help.

    the business hub has a good reputation for holding a connection on a long line like yours and it is not expensive of the will know auction site.  just make sure it's new
