Help on Configuring Log4j for Websphere

Hi All,
I want to disable logging for my application.its writing huge output.
i changed log4j.properties file but no effect,even if i am completely removing this prop file ,its writing.wat could be the reason?.I think its taking from some other location but couldnt find.i am new to websphere so please help me.is it posible that its not using log4j at all??

Hello,
the ´ip address dhcp´ command was introduced in IOS version 12.1(2)T. You are running 12.0, so you would have to upgrade your IOS in order for the command to be supported...

You must make a new directory on the same level with applications directory, place "log4j.properties" file in it, include this directory in the "PRE_CLASSPATH" entry in your startup script and that's all.
Sample line in "startWebLogic.cmd" script
'set PRE_CLASSPATH=%_LIBJARS%;classes'
in classes dir you have "log4j.properties"

Configuring Log4j for a EJB Project.

Hi,
I have a weblogic EJB project as a Ear file. The project has no web components (so war file). I want to know which is the ideal way to initialize log4j in this situation.
I can use listener class thro' weblogic-application.xml. But there is no neat way to passing the log4j.xml thro' parameter from weblogic-applicaiton.xml file.
If we are using servlet we could use init-parm to passing xml file. I don't want to hard code the xml file location in the listener class.
What is the best practice to initialize log4j for a EJB project?

I had a similar problem because I wanted to define my own log4j config regardless of what other portal apps were deployed in the BEA domain or what log4j was the default for the domain. This is what I do:
1) Put your log4j config file in the WEB-INF classes dir (or I guess it could be in some other place that the CLASSPATH knows of)
2) Create a servlet that looks like:

I want to rotate my file on basis of Time. means if my log file name format is HH:MM then after every minute new log file should be created , i am using Size based rotation its working fine.
Plz Tell me which propety i used to set my logfile name like DATeFormat

Simlarly i dont want to bound BackupSize
log4j.appender.R.MaxBackupIndex=1000

These properties not belong to DialyRolling.. class

what i want is if file size grow with in one minute i create new file using RollingFileApender and if size doesnt grow in one minute and minute cross then next minute file should be created , how can i acheive both of these

Hello. I have written a small plugin for audacious, that uses an Amarok script to retrieve song lyrics and displays them in a window. I'd like to make an AUR package of it, but I don't even know how to write a configure script. I used to compile it with audacious-plugins, but I suppose a package with all audacious plugins plus my own would be sort of a duplicate of the vanilla audacious-plugins.
Can anyone help me?

Please Help Me Configure Router for FTP

I have Verizon FIOS with the Actiontec MI424-WR router. I have been studying network configuration for hours, trying to figure out how to set up a simple FTP client with FileZilla, which is supposed to be easy. I have read the entire FileZilla FAQ and wiki, but I still can't connect to any FTP servers. I cannot even complete FileZilla's network configuration wizard. I use Comodo personal firewall too, but I'm pretty sure my problems are being caused by my router settings. Can anyone walk me through how the router should be set up to allow FTP? For starters, I need to set it to "allow outgoing connections to arbitrary remote ports," and I don't know how to do that. :-(

Tech support won't help you out with this..."outside the scope of support".
Now, if you are attempting to connect to it from the computer running the FTP server or another computer in your LAN, you would use it's IP address. You can find this by going to run -> type CMD press OK, -> now type IPCONFIG in the blinking command prompt. The IP address is going to be that computers address. so if you wanted to connect to the FTP from the same computer you can use that address AS WELL AS the prefix 'localhost'. If you wanted a family member to connect to you from outside, you would use the WAN IP which you could find out easily from like http://whatsmyipaddress.net/
Either way should work. Now just make sure you are port forwarding FTP, and should look like this, with the IP address being the FTP server's computer IP or just slect the 'Computer' from the list. Then click apply!

Help with configuring Qmaster for optimal render times.

I have a 6 machine Qmaster cluster. All machines in the cluster are PowerPC based and I have set up the cluster manually through Qadministrator. I personally like to have everything set up manually so no changes can be made for any reason to this cluster. I have processed a 2.5GB video in the cluster and in an Intel based Mac Pro.
Using Compressor, my output for the file is H.264 for iPod video and iPhone 640x480. The source was placed on an external Firewire 800 drive and destination is to the local disk on the Intel machine.
For the cluster, the source, also from the external Firewire 800 drive, is connected to the cluster controller, which has full read write access to all nodes in the cluster and is not a node in the cluster itself, just set to be the cluster controller. ( I saw this setup on a Qmaster setup page here, http://www.eventdv.net/Articles/News/Feature/Distributed-Network-Encoding-with-A pple-Compressor-37923.htm ) Also, I am using the same output settings, H.264 for iPod video and iPhone 640x480, and output is being written to the cluster controller local disk.
Once the batch is completed, it takes 23 minutes to render the video in the cluster as opposed to 25 minutes on the Intel machine. Not the difference in render time that I hoped for.
Here are the specs for the machines,
Cluster nodes:
1.6 Ghz Powerpc g5 1.25 GB
1.8 Ghz PowerPC G5 4GB
Quad 2.5 Ghz PowerPC G5 2.5 GB RAM
Dual 2.0 Ghz PowerPC G5 2.5 GB RAM
Dual 2.0 Ghz PowerPC G5 6 GB RAM
Dual 2.7 Ghz PowerPC G5 2.5 GB RAM
Cluster Controller:
Dual 2.0 Ghz PowerPC G5 2.5 GB RAM
Intel Machine:
2 x 2.26 quad core Intel Xeon 6GB RAM
Now I know these machines in the cluster are old but all machines, except for the cluster controller, have gotten fresh installs of Leopard 10.5.8, all relevant updates applied and fresh installs of FCP6, Qmaster and Compressor. I still cannot figure out how to speed up rendering. Is there something in this setup that I am doing wrong or is it the limitations of the old hardware. In theory, it should break up this video into segments across all machines in the cluster but it doesn't. The chunk of segments are sent to the Quad G5 and yes I have enabled multiple cores in the Qmaster prefs pane. So I figured i'd only enable 2 instances on the quad core machine and then it started to send segments to other machines but render time is still slow.
Also, even though all machines had read/write access to each other, I would scroll through the log files and see that it could not read the segment from the source media, but I could clearly see the activity light flickering.
After all of this trial and error, I still cant get the render time under 23 mins for this video.
If there's anyone out there with some advice, it would be much appreciated. Also, I forgot to save a copy of the log file, so my fault on that one but I will post once I get a chance to get back to working on that cluster.

Update:
So I have been able to get the cluster working. I've used Compressor and have the source media located in the shared folder that the controller mounts as cluster storage on all of the machines. The problem that I can't figure out now is why the cluster won't read the source media from any other location. I've read through Qmaster documentation and the permissions are supposed to be bypassed when you are using Qmaster.
I have both the mac HD and clusterstorage drives mounted for each machine, on each machine. Still, the cluster won't transcode the file unless I drop the media into the shared folder first. Every sharing option I could think of has been enabled. I have enabled file sharing, appletalk, set read & write permissions for each drive in each machine for all users and It still won't work any other way.
It just seems impractical to have to first copy the source media to the shared folder mounted by the controller since all locations on each machine have been totally opened up.
If anyone has some advice about this issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

How can I configure log4j for ejb3? for example in jsf I create servlet listener initialize logger with some config file (defined in web.xml) and call

I think a better way of logging EJBs is the use of interceptor. This is the approach I use.
Get a regular java class that offers logging services using log4j
create a business interceptor for you EJB business services
add the interceptor annotation to your EJBs with the class name for you interceptor.
I think this approach is better so you don't mingle business code with utility code.

If you are on Airtel, please try using the access point Mobile Office and see if it works.

How to configur log4j logging for weblogic 10.1

I am tried to set log4j logging for my application running in weblogic 10.1. I set a log4j.properties file and loaded the properties by a servlet. Where its load the properties files and configure it by PropertyConfigurator.
The same logic has worked out in websphere. But in weblogic, it is not working. I set the server logging and domain logging to Log4j in Admin console. Now it is writing all the log statements.
If i write a property for a package to Error level and root level is Debug. Its not working, all debug statements are getting written.
Can you please tell me the steps to configure log4j logging in weblogic 10.1.

Help configuring PulseAudio for 2.1 on laptop [SOLVED]

I've been trying to figure out how to properly configure PulseAudio for my laptop for the past couple of nights, but haven't had much luck. I'm may be misunderstanding my laptop's audo setup correctly. Seeing stuff like True 5.1, Dobly Home Theater, and Virtual SurroundSound confused me, but right now I think 5.1 is only for HDMI output (which I don't use). My laptop has a so-called subwoofer and in alsamixer I have controls for front and lfe.
By default, pulseaudio chooses stereo, which sounds fine for anything that stereo or mono, but if I play a DVD in VLC I can barely hear voices and but hear parts of music and background sounds.
Also, for some reason if I run speaker-test -c 2 -t wav. Front-left is loud and somewhat distorted while Front-right is really soft. Yet it still sounds fine (to me) when listening to non-surround content.
Everything worked perfectly before pulseaudio was pulled in.
I tried following this post on manually loading the alsa sources and sink modules, but it didn't work.
Running pulseaudio in verbose mode showed that hw:0 doesn't support 3 channels and then defaults to stereo.

default-channel-map = front-left,front-right,lfe
I also just tried the above in daemon.conf just to see what would happen but, it ignored it...
What am I doing wrong? Am I going about this the wrong way?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Update.
I got vlc to work right. Yay!
I deleted my .vlc directory
Then, manually set the output to alsa (and set Device to Default) which then ungrayed the Audio > Audio Device menu to select Stereo
edit:
I noticed I loose audio in VLC if I pause or seek around too much... Work around for now is to disable and reenable the audio.
looking with pavucontol vlc is still there, it just doesn't do anything.
anyway, this new problem is probably for a different thread

You can find all configuration guides at http://service.sap.com/ibc. For SRM server 5.5 (SRM5.0), the configuration guide has to be downloaded from Solution Manager.
Solution Manager is must for all new version implementations now.
