If the persons submitting the concurrent request want the output to print on the Epson printer sitting beside them,
i don't think central linux cups print server will save you from doing the 200x printer setup.
You have to configure 200 printers.
lp -c -d$PROFILES$.*PRINTER* -onobanner $PROFILES$.FILENAME
the PRINTER refers to the individual printers, some sitting beside each workstations.
But if what you have is several AIX servers each running concurrent managers (PCP), then you could install cups on aix,
setup 200x on one aix and [ copy the cups printer definitions|http://joeyski.wordpress.com/2009/06/23/howto-duplicate-printers-between-linux-systems/] into the other aix.

I installed Arch yesterday and after following the wiki, i had cups working and connected to my ubuntu server( where my printer is) i printed a test page and it was working. this morning cups is not working anymore, i had turn off my computer. the cupsd daemon is in my rc.conf file, but when i do
    /etc/rc.d/cupsd restart  i get the following:
    /etc/rc.d/cupsd: line 6: /etc/rc.d/functions: No such file or directory

    i don't know how to fix it. when i go to http://localhost:631   i'm unable to connect.
    this is my /etc/rc.conf :

    I see on the home page that new installation use systemd by default. Try

    Ok that worked. So this means I'm using systemd. Now my question would be how can i make it start on boot because i have the cups daemon (cupsd) on the rc.conf file. but it doesn't start on boot. Thanks for all the help.
    To get it to start on boot run:
    systemctl enable cupsd
    or if that doesn't work
    systemctl enable cups
    For some reason on my system I have to use cups NOT cups**d**
    thank you. After reading up on systemd I did systemctl enable cupsd and is not working, you saved the day, the second one works (using cups not cupsd)

  • Need help with CUPS on 11.5.10 cu2

    We are running our EBS 11.5.10 CU2 on AIX servers and printing is a major pain point as we need to define 200 printers on each server. I want to install CUPS on a remote Linux server and have all the AIX servers print to the cups server.
    There is documentation available on how to setup CUPS and then print to it locally. But I need help in understanding on how will I print from the AIX server to the CUPS server, in a nutshell what should I put in the Arguments section of printer driver:
    lp -c -d$PROFILES$.PRINTER -onobanner $PROFILES$.FILENAME
    or do I need to change the printer definition on the OS itself ?
    Please share your expertise on this. Thanks

  • HP Deskjet F4440 not printing from cups, do I need ppd? Where can I find it?

    Hello!,
    I am trying to get my HP Deskjet F4440 connected to my linux server through the use of "cups". I am using Tiny Core Linux.
    Linux box 3.16.6-tinycore #777 SMP i686 GNU/Linux
    I have installed and configured cups.tcz. When I visit the cups admin page at 'localhost:631' and go to 'add a new printer', the HP Deskjet shows up and it guides me through the rest of the process. At one point it asks what make and model the printer is for what I assume is for drivers, or it asks for a ppd file.
    I have tried searching for a PPD file for my printer but was unable to find it so I used what was avaialble... I selected 'HP' as the make and 'HP Deskjet series (en)' as the model. They did not have my model but I assumed it fell under this.
    The printer gets added and shows up under the 'Printer' tab of cups. I set the printer to server default and clicked 'Print test page'.
    Do I need a PPD file? How can I get this printer working?
    It shows the print started with either 21% or 25% sometimes and then disapears. No error messages. No printed pages or activity from the printer.

    Hi @Flawd009,
    I can honestly say, I do not know the answer to your question, but perhaps I can help you find it.

  • Printer help / diagnostic to run?

    Help! Not sure what has happened with my iBook, but yesterday I was printing fine with the iBook, but today I can only get one page of gibberish to print, followed by blank page after blank page, until I manually shut off the printer.
    I have cleared all queues, deleted any old printers, and even reset the printer system, all to no avail.
    Anyone have any ideas? Is there any diagnostic I can run to see if anything in particular is ailing my computer?
    The only thing that has changed between yesterday and today is that last night I tried hooking up to my girlfriend's computer at home, and couldn't print to it, but I can't imagine anything could be related to that...
    Any help is appreciated, frustration level growing exponentially...sigh.

    Perhaps to try and re-install the printer software from the disc
    included with the printer may help restore some functionality(?)
    There may be something or another corrupted in the iBook's
    system; so if you have a second user account, you could see
    if that can be used to print documents using the existing driver
    and printer software already in the computer. Some general
    system maintenance may be performed which could help; such
    as it is, with AppleJack and/or OnyX. These may not help the
    CUPS printer system; there is a printer utility which may be in
    the utilities folder. I don't think I've used it, but there is a tool
    in the system to help with some issues. Maybe not this one(?)
    And there also are several printer tricks (of which I do not know)
    that likely may be out there, to be tried. So there yet may be hope.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • CUPS error: client-error-not-authorized

    Hello,
    some days ago I followed the wiki and installed a printer (HP Laserjet 1020) that uses the driver foo2zjs (from AUR). It didn't print anything in the beginning, but after blacklisting usblp module it printed a Test Page. Believing that everything was working fine, I unfortunately did not try to print any other document to check it.
    Now, trying to print a document for the first time, the printer simply prints nothing, and the log file shows this error message: client-error-not-authorized.
    There's no network here and the printer is connected directly to the computer. Both the regular and root users are included in the lp group. The hostname from /etc/hosts is localhost.

  • How do I combine PDFs into one document?

    I want to scan CD booklets for online digital storage. I have Pages and Preview, of course. I do not have Acrobat Professional.
    I have a large scanner and can make individual TIFs or PDFs of each spread. What would be the best way to combine these into one file?

    etresoft,
    Please don't read this as an actual reply to your post because it is not.
    But, since the thread is dealing with CUPS-PDF and I have been desperately seeking CUPS-PDF for a long time ever since I've got my brand new iMac only 5 days ago (5 days on a new iMac [which is not only new but is intel-based, and which I was forced to buy because my older PPC iMac G5 died of preternatural or some other causes] is an extremely long time on account of Snow Leopard, about which I am like a babe trying to start speaking for the first time) I found it more expedient to "reply" in order to get some help with CUPS-PDF from someone who knows.
    I've downloaded CUPS-PDF from "https://bitbucket.org/codepoet/cups-pdf-for-mac-os-x/wiki/Home" and installed it following the instructions included therein.
    The only instruction I could not follow is to pick "Generic postscript color printer"; I could pick  "Generic postscript printer" though.
    CUPS-PDF shows in the printer list.
    CUPS-PDF apparently prints as indicated by the progress bar.
    But, the print doesn't show anywhere on my computer:
    The output is not in /Users/Shared/CUPS-PDF in a folder with my user account's name.
    I did make an alias to this folder on my desktop but it only contains two folders: "my user name" and "SPOOL"
    The first folder had a "clone" of the download source page (which I deleted.)
    SPOOL has nothing in it.
    I've never had a problem using CUPS-PDF while on OS X 10.4.11, something I'll never be able to revert to.
    I'll be eternally grateful to you if you could help me with this issue but, on condition that you use a language as plain as English since my expertise with OS X, which was never as considerable as to be able to use terminal to any advantage, nor understanding terms such as sudos and the like, is now even diminished on account of the new OS I am forced to use from now on.
    Thank you so much for your help and excuse me for using this approach to ask for help.
    Best regards,
    Ruben

  • My Epson Stylus RX700 is no longer supported...any ideas?

    Upgraded to Lion today and can't get my Epson Stylus RX700 scanner to open anymore b/c "PowerPC applications are no longer supported"...and doesn't seem to have what I need on the Epson page...

    Giday there connect4mary, I had printing issues after installing Lion with an Epson TX650 Photo. On the manufacturers website there was no up to date driver however the printer was showing there in Lion but somehow data wasn't being retreived by the printer. I managed to install a Epson SX650 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7 and it works perfectly. Hope this helps. CUPS+Gutenprint may also help with other brands.

  • Automatic Creation of Roles and Role Mappings in GRC

    Hi,
    we are planning to use SAP Identity Management and SAP GRC Access Management.
    In SAP IDM we have defined several business roles that contain privilieges in SAP systems. When a user is requesting a role, the request will first be sent to SAP GRC for approval and risk checking.
    In order to get this to work, we need to load the business roles of SAP IDM into SAP GRC and we also need to configure the role mapping between the business roles and the technical SAP privileges.
    From what I understood, this could be implemented by loading the required information via Excel filles into SAP IDM.However, this is a quite cumbersome and error-rpone approach an we would like to automate this.
    Is there a way to use e.g. web service calls to create/delete roles and role mappings in SAP GRC?
    BTW: is a documentation of all available GRC web service calls and their parameters available?
    Thanks for your help in advance!
    Best regards
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
    as stated before, the web service description is in the config guide.
    Unfortunately there is no web service to create roles or even mappings in CUP - this is one of many I would also like to se created
    I don't think in your context you will be able to directly send Business Roles to CUP. The role mapping only happens after you send the request, so I'm not sure if that's in time for risk analysis - you will need to try that.
    Are you a customer or a consultant - anyway, feel free to contact me if you need further help integrating CUP and IdM. This is an evolving interface with many possible scenarios, so it's not easy to give you good advise without seeing the full picture.
    Frank.

  • More Rx power than Tx on SFP DOM

    Hi everyone,
    I actualy use 2 cisco catalyst 2960 24TC-L, both with one SFP (AXCEN AXGD-5854-0511 SFP-1000SX-DD), with 2 fiber (TX RX) 50/125 between, 15m lenght.
    My goal is to monitor the power of each link, but i have more power on RX than TX...
    My case for exemple :
              - TX switch 1 : -6.2dBm
              - RX switch 1: -5,7dBm
              - TX switch 2: -6,9dBm
              - RX switch 2:-4,8dBm
    I run iOS 15.0 on both.
    I havn't found any problem like that on the net.
    Is this normal ? Recurrent on this hardware ?
    Any suggestion ?
    Thanks for your help

  • Help Needed in Fixing USB Printer after CUPS Update [SOLVED]

    CUPS updated a while ago but I didn't notice any warnings from pacman or whatever. I did later notice on the front page that cups had been upgraded so that usblp is no longer usable. It told me to blacklist usblp, and so I did. I also upgraded the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file as per the instructions.
    I still cannot print.
    When I plug in my printer, I get the following in /var/log/messages.log:
    kernel: usb 5-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
    kernel: usb 5-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    load-modules.sh: Not loading module 'usblp' for alias 'usb:v03F0p1D17d0100dc00dsc00dp00ic07isc01ip03' because it is blacklisted
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I did indeed, though the solutions presented seemed quite convoluted.
    Luckily, I have printing working by readding the printer.

  • HELP! canon ip1800 printer stops after cups update

    Hi All,
    After the recent cups update to 1.4.1-1, my little canon pixma ip1800 printer does not work.
    I had used a couple of old debian packages to get the printer working when I first bought it: cnijfilter-common and the cnijfilter-ip1800. By using the deb2targz utility to unpack the debs, I was able to just write a short shell script to install the driver, which has worked well for ages.
    I downloaded the AUR cnijfilter packages for this printer, installed or built all the dependencies, removed the old debian based printer driver and installed the AUR packages.
    However, after a reboot, when I used the cups admin page (http://localhost:631) and tried to install the pixma ip1800, I keep getting the same error:
    Bad device-uri "cnij_usb:/dev/usb/lp0"
    I just don't understand why the AUR driver is not working, both parts built ok-any ideas?
    I need this printer working again! Help.
    Cheers for any help.

    I have the same printer. In addition to the steps outlined in the news entry I had to delete the printer from the cups admin panel and re-add it. Of course you'll have to redo any customizations you made to the ppd file so before you do this you may want to make a backup of that printer's ppd file (ie. /etc/cups/ppd/ Canon_iP1800_series.ppd ) to reference later.

  • Canon LBP6000/Linux/Drivers/CUPS/Installation Problems/Help

    I'm working on installing these drivers, http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/laser_printers/imageclass_lbp... the "CAPT Printer Driver for Linux Version 2.60". My distribution is Arch Linux, and my print software is CUPS. I've been at it for a couple of days now, and am pretty familiar with with all the terms, variables, and commands; I think the main problem is that some of my command line settings and other random printer options/preferences are filled in with the wrong choices.
    Anyone wanna help me sort this out?

    Hi Suzanne,
    I'm also based in Hong Kong with the exact same printer I bought from Broadway the other day. I had the same problem as you describe when I tried to install it earlier tonight, but now I've got it working.
    Once you have the driver installed and the printer connected and turned on, open any printable document, then:
    File > Print
    Choose "Add Printer..." in the Printer dropdown menu
    You will see LBP6000/LBP6018 in the box that appears. Ignore it. Instead, click on "More printers..." in the bottom left corner of the same box.
    Another box will appear with a dropdown menu at the top, giving you two choices. Choose "CANON USB (CUPS CAPT)," which will give you the model number again. Click on it, then "Add," and voila!
    Hopefully, this will save you the angst you will likely suffer from calling customer support (funny how that has become an oxymoron...)

  • ActionScript 3 help, shuffling arrays: shuffling 3 cups.

    Hi, I'm having a problem with this file. It's meant to shuffle 3 cups but I get this error: TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.
    at cupsc_fla::MainTimeline/frame1().
    It was working in AS2 but I changed it around to get it to work for AS3 but now it won't work.
    Here's the code:
    import fl.transitions.Tween;
    import fl.transitions.easing.*;
    import flash.events.*;
    var posArray:Array = new Array(cup0.DisplayObject.x, cup1.DisplayObject.x, cup2.DisplayObject.x);
    move_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, pressBtn);
    shuffle = function (targetArray) {
    for (i=0; i<targetArray.length; i++) {
    var tmp = targetArray[i];
    var randomNum = Math.random(targetArray.length);
    targetArray[i] = targetArray[randomNum];
    targetArray[randomNum] = tmp;
    function pressBtn(e:Event) :void{
    shuffle(posArray);
    var tween0 = new Tween(cup0, "_x", Strong.easeIn, cup0.DisplayObject.x, posArray[0], 1.5, true);
    var tween1 = new Tween(cup1, "x", Strong.easeIn, cup1.DisplayObject.x, posArray[1], 1.5, true);
    var tween2 = new Tween(cup2, "x", Strong.easeIn, cup2.DisplayObject.x, posArray[2], 1.5, true);
    I'm stumped!

    There are a number of potential issues with the code as you show it.
    cup0.DisplayObject.x,  ??? what are these
    shuffle = function... change that to be written just like your pressBtn function
    Math.random(nothing goes in here)... should be Math.random()*targetArray.length, although you want to get an integer value out of it, not a decimal value
    As far as the 1010 error goes, go into your Flash Publish Settings and select the option to Permit Debugging.  That can help by adding the line number of the offending code to the error message.
