Help on page navigation in PDF
Hi,
I am creating a PDF document using the Adobe livecycle designer where I might show a table of records generated dynamically.
The records can be 10 or 100 or 1000 or any number..
So, the number of pages increases as well. I want to provide a functionality like a link on top of the table on each page. When i click on the link, it should just take me to the next page (more like page down functionality)
for Ex: I might have my table starting at middle of page 3. So on the top of the table i would have a link 'Pg4' and when you click that the pdf scrolls to page 4 and on page 4 i have the link 'Pg5' and so on.
Can somebody help me in doing this?

I had to go to the immediate page after the page where its clicked.
"xfa.host.currentPage = xfa.host.numPages - 1; " was taking me to the last but one page. For Ex: if there are 10 pages and i click on 3rd page, it takes me to 9th.
So i set
xfa.host.currentPage = xfa.host.currentPage + 1;
That helped

Need help with page navigation
I've got a database where records are retrieved and displayed in a repeating region. I've added page navigation to it because I'm getting enough records in the database that scrolling through them all on a single page is getting to be a very big page. The page navigation works as far as the first page goes. I get the correct records on the first page based on my selection critiera. However, when a result set spans multiple pages, when I hit 'next page', instead of going to the second page based on the search critiera, the records displaying on the second page are the records that would be on the section page if I selected every record in the database.
My search critiera is pretty complex, so I have not found a way to develop it inside of the recordset definition panel in DW, but I have attempted to recreate the page from scratch and I'm getting the same result each time.
Does anyone have a snippet of code to make the pagination work correctly?

TIA!I've put some echo statements into my code to figure out what it is doing and I can see why I'm getting the results I'm getting, but I don't know how to fix it.
Here's a description of my site. A user has a select form where they can select records matching their critiera. There are over 30 attributes that can be selected. None of them can be selected and that results in every record in the database being displayed. Any combination of the attributes can be selected and that results in the set of records that match that criteria.
There is one caveat. One of the attributes has multiple possible values. Any given record will only have one value for that attribute, but the selection critiera may include multiple values of that attribute. So in the middle of the string of "<value = > and <value = >", I have "and (<value = > OR <value = > OR....) and <value=>". You can see the actual select statement I have built in a previous discussion I started.
I'm not a sophisticated php programmer or DW user for that matter, so I don't know how to build an array to capture my record data and then read the array to display the page. It would be simpler if the selection critiera wasn't so complex - I have found several snippets of code that work well with simple select statements, but I have not been able to adjust them to work with this kind of selection possibility.
So what I see happening is that after the first mysql statement correctly retrieves the results set, the code to set the select statement is executed again. But at this second time through, the $_POST values from my form are no longer set to correctly build the select statement. I thought I might save the select statement and use some if/else logic to circumvent this, but all variables seem to be getting reset when the logic goes back up to the top of the code.
I hope I'm describing this clearly enough to generate some helpful responses.

Help with page formatting in PDF
Hope that someone can help me with a problem I have.
I have just purchased Acrobat 9 Pro Extended Version 9.0.0, and am a very new user of Acrobat.
The problem I have is converting a Word 2002 and SP3 documents (multi pages to PDF.
The Word document is formatted with the correct margins in that all the text and Header are on the correct pages, but when converted to PDF a small part of the upper text on the next page moves up onto the previous page. Resetting the top ande bottom margins helps, but this should not be necessary.
Anyone have any ideas to correct this problem.
clifton06You version of WORD defaults to using printer metrics. There are 2 ways to resolve the issue. 1. go to print and select the Adobe PDF printer, back out and fist the document issues in WORD. 2. Deep in the options of WORD, there is a selection for using printer metrics (I assume your version also has this selection). Uncheck that and the problem should go away. You could also change your default printer to the Adobe PDF printer.
WORD 2007 was changed to have the default set to NOT use printer metrics. All previous versions used the metrics. Thus when you change the printer, WORD reflows the document. The result may be errors in bookmarks, page numbers, and related issues. -
Help With Pages - Exporting To PDF - PHOTOS BOTCHED
Hey guys, would really appreciate some insight to this.
I created a report for my board in pages and included photos. It looks great but when I export to a .PDF, instead of seeing a page of 4 different photos, it is all the same photo! WHY???? I have no idea why..... It is the weirdist thing.
Now, the document is like 140 meg since the photos are a bit big, so I am telling pages to export to a 'good' .pdf instead of a 'best' since it will make the file size smaller. If I were to make the pics smaller and then put them into the document, would that work? Your help is appreciated since I don't want to do this unless it works. It will take tons of time.
Intersting note though, when I export to word or 'best', the pics are fine. Something weird is happening when it is making the .pdf smaller. Any thoughts?
Thanks all.You're probably using sections. Is there a little triangle over page 8 in the Pages palette? That means a section starts there. Select the page and go to Numbering and Section Options in the Pages palette menu. Remove the prefix.
You can also export using absolute page numbers if you use a + (plus) in front of the page. If your book's pages are numbered: i, ii, iii, 1, 2, 3 you could export as pages +1 - +6. -
How do I scan multiple pages into one pdf file using the PIXMA MG7520 on Windows 8.0? Please help!
I recently received a PIXMA MG7520 for a gift. It works great with my lenovo laptop/tablet running on Windos 8.0. The one drawback to the HP all-in-one that it replaced is it does not have an ADF. That being said, there must be some way to scan multiple pages into one pdf file. I need help figuring thing out. Thanks in advance!

There is a program that comes with the printer called the IJ Scan Utility that can assist you with scanning multiple pages into a single PDF document. To do this, please follow these steps:
1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key.
2. Start typing IJ SCAN UTILITY. The search window opens as you type. Once the IJ SCAN UTILITY is displayed, please select and open it.
3. In the Canon IJ Scan Utility window that opens, click SETTINGS.... in the bottom right of the window. The Settings dialog box appears.
4. Click the DOCUMENT SCAN option on the left pane of the window.
5. In the SAVE SETTINGS section of the window, you will select the save format and location of the document you are about to scan.
a.) In the FILE NAME field, specify the name you would like to give the file. By default the filename will begin with IMG; you can remove IMG and change it to whatever you would like to name the file.
b.) In the DATA FORMAT field, use the drop-down arrow to select the PDF (Multiple Pages) option.
c.) In the SAVE IN field, please navigate to the area where you would like the file to be saved once it is scanned in. By default, the file will be saved in the MY DOCUMENTS folder.
6. Once all settings have been selected, click the OK button at the bottom of the window to save the changes. The IJ Scan Utility main screen appears.
7. Click the DOCUMENT button. Scanning starts. Click the CANCEL button to cancel scanning if needed. Scanned items are saved in previously selected folder location specified in the SETTINGS... window.
If you find that you need advanced scanning options such as adjusting resolution, brightness, contrast, saturation, color balance, etc. in addition to the options selected above, please click on the SCANGEAR button on the IJ Scan Utility Main screen, then adjust the items as necessary.
Once the items above are set for document scanning, in the future, you will only need to launch the IJ Scan Utility, then press the DOCUMENT button to perform the scan (unless you want to make changes to the settings).

Need help with embedded SWF in PDF as navigation
Hi,
I was wondering is there a way to have an embedded swf navigate to different pages of a pdf?
Example:
My swf is on page one. There are mulitple buttons in the swf, when clicked it will take you to page 3, or 5, or 7, etc.
Currently, when I click on a button, it DOES take me to say page 4, but the content on page is the SWF file from page 1, and not the content that is suppose to be on page 4. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Note: Content linked with a site root-relative path does not appear when you preview documents in a local browser unless you specify a testing server, or select the Preview Using Temporary File option in Edit > Preferences > Preview In Browser. This is because browsers don’t recognize site roots—servers do.
Nancy O I linked the 12 pages together as Site Root-Relative and I do as you said to no avail. Since this website does not have a domain name (yet); is it possible that I may have to relink all as Document-Relative? and if so is there a faster way than manually switching one by one ( it's over 270 links) Thank you again for your help. -
Page navigation in Acrobat does not match page numbers in the document
I have a document in both Framemaker format (server.book) and PDF (server.pdf). When I view the pdf file in Adobe Acrobat, the page numbers appear correctly on the document itself, but up in the Page Navigation window within Acrobat the pages number doesn't match.
In the beginning of the book I have Title page, a Table of Contents, and a Preface that all use lower-case roman numerals. However, when viewing this document via Acrobat, the Title pages show up as i, and ii, but then the Table of Contents and Preface show up as pages 1 - 8 instead of iii - x in the page navigation window.
I can't figure where this discrepancy is originating.
Please help.Acrobat has no way to know which bit of character string on each page is the page number.
The visible page number has never formed any part of Reader nav. as you point out, it couldn't.
Acrobat knows the Numbering Properties of the pages as created in Frame. It just doesn't display or honor them consistently, depending on Reader version.
I also use i, ii, iii, iv for pre-narrative material. The romans are displayed in the page number box of Acroread (this is AR7 on Unix). I can enter "ii" in the box, and go to that page. But the Print dialog is Ordinal only. Printing page ranges in AR7 is always off by 2 or 4 relative to the actual page numbers.
Acrobat Pro 9 (9.4.5, Win7-64) seems to be more consistent, and does show and accept real page numbers for Print. -
How to get the page navigation buttons back at the bottom of the page?
After upgrading to Acrobat X I discovered that there is only one option for the page navigation buttons - at the upper left. I'm mystified as to why they put them there. Most users are right-handed. With the buttons at upper left it's awkward to reach up there, across the page, with the mouse cursor for every page turn (yeah, I know you can use the PgUp/PgDnkeyboard keys, but that requires taking your hand off the mouse every page turn).
What I really want is to be able to put a copy of these buttons back down at the bottom center of the page, which was an option in previous versions. Is there some way to get those back at the bottom?Hi terpenoid,
Have you tried Read Mode yet ( under the View menu)? It displays a nivagation bar at the bottom of the PDF with next/previous page, zoom in/out, etc.

I have received the pdf file from my client, he make the some tricks in the pdf file name showing in the page navigation bar, how they done this display, please find the below snapshots for your referecne.
1. see the pag navigation tab shownin the 03_00C0.jpg beside the (1/54) this is the 1st page.
2. this page also shown the file name in the page navigation tab this page is 2nd 03_01.jpg actual page is (2/54)

I have created a PDF file and under document properties it says that the default page size is 11.69 x 8.26 in. I want to change this to A3, but cannot find the option or any help on this.
The PDF was created using the PDF printer from an application that normally only prints to A3. This created a separate PDF file for each sheet of the document, which I then combined using the combine option in Acrobat.
Any thoughts?

How do I scan multiple pages into one pdf document on a HP Envy 4501 Printer
My HP Envy 4501 Printer won't let me scan multiple pages into one pdf document.
I went to "Advanced Settings", clicked on "file" and made sure that the check box next to "Create a separate file for each scanner page" was unchecked.
When I clicked the Save button it showed the page that I scanned and showed 1/1. On the right side it had options for changing the brightness and Contrast, Rotate and Crop and "Back", "Save" and "Done" buttons, but nothing about scanning another page.
Not to mention HP's Customer Support is useless!
I'd appreciate any help I can get with this problem.

I see your diagram. I just scanned something. The screen that I'm looking at right now shows the preview page and the scroll box to the left of that just like in your diagram. The screen does not show the + button nor does it show the red x button under the scroll box as in your diagram. I can't see the plus sign because it is not there.
I tried re-installing the software and drivers as you suggested but that did not have any affect.

I've noticed that on HP's support forum web page there is only 1 solved request for assistance. That doesn't give me much confidence in HP.
Please reply back to this post to let me know if there is anything else that I can try or if you know someone else at HP that can help.
If I don't here back from you, I'm returning this HP Envy 4501 Printer to get my money back to use it to buy a printer from one of HP's competitors.

Scanning multiple pages to multiple pdf on HP Laserjet M3035
We have a Laserjet M3035 MFP installed as network printer.
We can scan multiple pages in to a single PDF to a folder on the server.
We would like to scan multiple pages to multiple PDF to a folder on the server.
e.g. one page to one pdf with the ADF 40 pages in one go. Is it possible and how do we do it.

Problem with Multiple Page convert in PDF

I done one invoice printing and convert in pdf report. but with smartform i get all thing and giving perfect out put.
But when i give second option for direct create a file of PDF this time only one page can convert in PDF. Means when i give multiple input like print invoice 0000910 to 0000925 so this time only invoice no. 0000925 is convert in pdf. But actually i need all invoice like 910 to 925 convert in one PDF with 25 pages.
