Help problem with workspace e.g. colour space!
Hi everyone, made a bit of a mistake...I completed a whole short project with alot of shots from after effects. However I did not select a workspace, so for a long time now I have been going mad trying to work out why the project wasn't coming up to scratch after I exported it. The colours were becoming way to saturated, and darker.
Now I have realized that its because of the workspace, but now if I select a preset the whole scene will change. This is especially apparent with one shot which I have done with a 3D camera, and lighting. What ever colour space I select effect how the image looks, either it will be too dark, to light or too saturated. I am working in HDV, so the most obvious colour space to use is the one for that. However the image becomes low in contrast, and due to the nature of many differnt items in one shot, they are all effected differently...
Is there any easy way I can export the video with no colour space, without the colours changing in the render? Or is there a way I can use the presets without effecting what I have already done? With no colour space selected, what are the colour settings? Many thanks.

That's a complicated question, Will. Many people turn off Color Management (in applications tha traditionally had Color Management, I mean) because they hope that turning it off means avoiding color management. It probably means bad color management
But that's a long subject. There's also room for opinion.
The very, very short answer could be: if the Project Working Space is the one you should use for your target medium (say, HDTV REC.709), and you make sure source files are intepreted correctly (HDV files should automatically show an embedded profile, but you can manually assign an HDTV. REC 709 Input profile if they don't.), then color rendering should behave even better than the generic RGB space used when there's no Project Working Space assigned (CM off).
Two things are true, though. One is that turning on Color Management if you're not familiar with what you're doing could do more harm than good (there's a very good white paper on Color Management available from Adobe).
For example:
Do not use an output profile in the Render Queue unless you know why you are doing it.
Do not use display management/device simulation if your computer monitor is not calibrated.
Do not linerize the project or enable the option to blend using 1.0 gamma unless you know what you're doing.
And the other, that people have been using AE without CM (it debuted in CS3) without getting color or luminance shifts. If you see very noticeable shifts, it probably is because of something else (or bad use of CM).
An imporant question - the color shifts you are seeing, are these evident in the Comp panel as soon as you assign a project working space (like HDTV. REC 709) or do they appear later in the rendered file? Because changes introduced by the project space should be immediately noticeable in the Comp panel. If they appear in the rendered file only, then it's most likely something else (the rendering options, the format/codec you're exporting to, etc).

Each time (except some "random" times) a new project is open, there is a problem with the composition of the workspace. Each windows move in an odd way that i dont understand... And i must have to recompose each time my own workspace. This problem is recurent, even when I re open a project...

6. In case these steps do not work please perform a clean uninstall and re-install of the Adobe Application.

Problems with built-in isight: colours and fuzziness
I have just bought a new MacBook, however I seem to have quite a problem with my iSight. When I use it (for example, through Photo Booth) I get an image that is very reddish (it seems like the only colours I get are in the range black-orange-red, and no, I'm not using any special effects like Sepia :)) and that is very fuzzy, or even better, foggy.
Any fix for this? I have had an iMac with an iSight that only showed black and the solution seemed to be to reset the PMU. However, I cannot find information on how to reset the PMU on my new MacBook.Any fix for this? I have had an iMac with an iSight

HELP/Problems with pull-down navigator bar
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if I could get some input. I have just
re-designed our magazine's site, www.easternsurf.com
I used Pop-Up menu function in Fireworks 8 to generate our
Navigator bar. For the most part everything has been working well,
BUT we've had a couple of complaints that the navigator bar's
pull-down menus get stuck behind the photos/banner ads/etc. instead
of in front of them when viewing in Internet Explorer. I'm on the
Mac platform (OSX Tiger/Macromedia Studio 8) and have seen no
problems viewing in Safari, Firefox and Netscape. The only
complaints have come from Internet Explorer users. A couple of
people updated their browser to the newest version and the problem
disappeared, however we've still had a couple of people that have
written in that the newest version of IE is still not displaying
properly.
Also we've got a strip of button ads running down the left
hand side of each page and I've also seen another issue that's
common on sites of this type...when the pulldown menu overlaps with
a Flash element, there is a problem with the screen re-draw. I've
seen this on several other sites and know it's a common problem,
but does anyone know of a workaround where this won't happen? I
just noticed that signing on to Adobe's site, there almost seems to
be a command where the menu keeps re-drawing at a very rapid rate
so this won't happen.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, although I'm Mac all
the way, we are a business and have to get this site visible for
everyone!

Please Perform a Battery Pull Restart like this While Device is Powered On remove the Battery wait for a min. then re-insert it back wait till the device take a long Reboot.And see if that helps.

Help - problem with white iphone 4 speaker
Hi, i have a problem with my white iphone 4 speaker. I know the specs stated that the mic is supposed to be on the left and the right is the speaker but i've compared at least 2 other black iphones 4s and there is some volume from the left side (if you close the right side) whereas mine is practically non-existent. Should i be concerned? Is this specific to the white iphone 4? The local telco has not been helpful - they can only reformat the phone and said that this is a software problem. Anyone with similar experience pls share. Thanks in advance.

You already know the answer. ALL iphones, every single one of them, have but one speaker at the bottom. You have NO ISSUE at all with your speakers. None. Nothing is wrong. At all. No problem. None. -

AljosaPetteri, SWFObject is much better because it loads the JavaScript so you don't see it inside the HTML page, but it still wraps the swf in a div which by default will be positioned in the upperleft of the browser window.
This is the only way I've been able to center using SWFObject—note that it's the "flashcontent" div style that does the centering not the align embed parameter:

All of a sudden I am having problems with documents in my word application. Files I have previously transderred on to my Mac from a memory stick or via email attachments are unable to be altered. i cannot add to a downloaded document that needs to be filled in or alter a date on a letter that I send out each month. I am not very compiter literate.

Please Help-Problem with Optical Drive, it's a Mystery...
Well I'm a fairly big Imogen Heap fan, and her new CD came out the 25th. So I went to Best Buy and I bought the deluxe version which includes a seperate disc with instrumentals. I got home, put it in, and my Mac made a "scratching" kind of noise, then it spit out the disc. I figured there was a problem with it, I went back to Best Buy, got a new one, and it did the exact same thing.
HOWEVER, both of the instrumental discs worked just fine, and imported just fine. The normal audio disc also works on my Ubuntu computer, Windows computer, and my other Early 2009 Macbook Pro. I also restarted my Mac, cleaned the disc, and that did nothing.
So, what's the problem do you think?

I didn't do an OS install, I took it to an apple store and made a Genius Bar appointemnt. Explained the proble and after 15min conversation, they diagnosed it as teh following;
The felt/rubber where you put the CD/DVD had gone hard and the friction is causing the CD/DVD to get stuck and be loaded. They tried to tell me that I need to replace the top case (£140+VAT) as its in-built into it or I can use a £3 spudger to push the CD's in......needles to say the Spudger works fine.....Shame I wasted £100 on the new optical drive ;o( Maybe sell teh spare on eBay....Happy days! -

When I connect my ipod, it updates in itunes and then disconnects itself from the computer...how do I make it so after it updates it stays connected and keeps flashing "Do Not Disconnect" on the ipod?

I have been trying to find a way to upload my CD library to my new 60GB iPod (that function works fine) and classify / manage my CD library on it (using iTunes)- that function is nearly unworkable. Now, today, I have used my only 'free' direct APPLE Support contact and the basic answer was 'Too Bad for You!! The iPod does not have nor support multi level indexing or playlists!!!! So...go ahead, load 500 or 600 Cd's onto your iPod and then try to find the tracks you wish to play!! It can't be done except for a 'flat' one level filing system!!! What a BUMMER -
Help - Problem with Java Updating
In updating to the latest version of Java - 8.45 - I must also load the Unlimited Strength encryption files. At least, that's what the README file sez ...
Unfortunately - when I agree to the terms, and download the "Unlimited Policy" zip file, it contains the US Export Policy encryption file, and NOT the Unlimited Policy File.

I can top- or bottom- post and do so when appropriate, generally in very simple email conversations.
BUT, for more complex threads, I commonly want to open some space between each paragraph of each incoming message to insert my response. (Incoming paragraphs are typicallly separated by a blank line or two.) Mail.app provides horizontal bar quoting indicators at the left to mark the progress of the thread over many exchanges, though this mechanism often seems not to be very well supported by the email clients of my correspondents. (I often end up increasing the quoting manually to restore a semblance of the correct quoting of a thread. Oh, well...)
I've been using mail.app only since I installed 10.7, shortly after it was released. With varying success, especially when using formatted as opposed to plain text. Exchanges with some people work more or less flawlessly. The most common difficulty: I have trouble opening up vertical space below an incoming, quoted paragraph in which to type my response to that para. Up until today, I've always been able to find a way, by exeriment of where I put the cursor, using shift-enter instead of enter, etc, etc.
But for a message I just received, I cannot. Every attempt I make to open some vertical space results in ... trouble. If I put the cursor on a blank line between incoming paragraphs and command "decrease quote level" I get 8 inches [!] or so of quoted vertical space, followed by 8 more inches or so of unquoted vertical space, followed by the following paragraph and the rest of the thread, apparently intact. That's not right!
Fortunately, I can undo and resume ... to do what? I get a similar result if I try placing the cursor that line and hit "enter". Or "Enter". Or "shift-enter".
Yeah, it looks like I've opened 10 inches in which to insert my response to the first paragraph, but first I need to get rid of most of the inserted quoted vertical space -- an impossible task, as far as I can see. If I put the cursor on the first line of unquoted space and backspace, the 10 quoted inches stay the same and characters delete from the end of the previous quoted parag.
What's going on? Are there any methods of recovering some semblance of normal operation so I can answer this incoming message? (OK, I've given up and responded by top-posting.) I note that I can view the source of the incoming message, but I see no way to view the source of the response, to see what exactly is going on. What is actually being inserted in the formatted text source that creates the mess I observe?
In this case, viewing the incoming source seems to reveal only one apparent client name: Zimbra. Is that a client? Could Zimbra and mail.app have ... issues with each other?
Are there any mail.app add-ins that might help? Work-arounds? (Yeah, probably converting to plain text would solve the problem, but that has other issues.) Any applicable help or articles?
Am I missing anything incredibly obvious?

I went to upload Yosemite but didnt have enough space on my hardrive. Now when I turn on my computer it tries to install - gets to about 15 minutes and then stops and says theres a problem extracting files from essential.
There isnt enough room on my hardrive to install Yosemite. I now cannot use my macbook. I cannot access any of my files, documents, apps, itunes ect. I dont know how to free up space on the hardrive when I cannot access anything.

Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer. -

Which is great. Gives me a total at the end, and substitutes "ALL" for the customer number. Lovely.
Problem #1: I REALLY want it to give the Customer Name NEXT TO the Customer Number. But when I try to add it, i have to add it to the GROUP BY as well. Which changes the query to this:

( I have replaced actual customer names, of course, and replaces actual blanks with the word 'blanks' so it would be more legible.)
I can't figure out a way to simply list the customer name next to the number. Instead , it gives me a summary for the CardCode and a summary for the CardName.
I've tried combining the two into one field, on the fly, but haven't been successful.
Problem #2 - extra credit!
If i really want this done right, i should also have a query that pulls the same data from ORIN (Credit Memos) and do a UNION ALL, but when i do this, is simply rejects me at the word "UNION"
any and all help appreciated, and to test this, you can just cut and past the query into SAP, it will run right there, no mods needed.
oops. I had to change the "Not Equal" symbol to just "greater than" for "Max1099" because it was just dropping the symbol...

[HELP] Problem with restore and recovery to new host
Hi, guys!
I have been trying for two days, but still cannot get it to work.
I have taken a full hot(online) backup with archive logs as well as the control file and SPFILE, and then copied the backup to the new host with the same directory structure and settings. Finally, I have tried to restore & recover the database on the new host but failed during the restore process.
Both the original host and the new host have the same Oracle installed down to the patch level. I couldn't figure out the proper solution to this problem base on my limited knowledge about Oracle DB.
Could anyone help me out here? Any advice would be appreciated!

Yep, I have doubled check the directory structure that get in the way, and they are all exist.
Would it be something to do with the folder permissions?
