Help with BT Vision Box - rebooting every 15-20min...

I need help with this please!! I have been unable to watch TV using the Vision Box since last week as the box is rebooting itself at least every 15 to 20 minutes. It is impossible to record anything as the box drops out and then we cannot watch the shows. I am getting increasingly frustrated as I feel that what I am paying does not reflect the service I am getting from BT.

  • Help With BT Vision Please!

    Hi there,
    Had Infinity Broadband (option 2) and BT Vision Unlimited Extra installed yesterday; recevied the confirmation that it was all set up, installed and working correctly within a few hours of installation and thought all was fine.
    Apparently, all is not fine and having spent most of the past two days on the phone with BT (not only for this issue but for other issues relating to the order itself) I am really at my wits end and totally fed up so I thought I would ask you guys for some input.
    Basically, despite paying the £49 upgrade/installation fee for BT Vision Unlimited Extra I am only receiving FreeView channels and nothing else.
    When I spoke to someone yesterday I was kept holding for over 90 minutes while the person just sat in total silence on the other end of the phone; not telling me what they were doing or why I  wasn't getting the channels I was meant to be getting.
    Eventually (after being put through to four different people), I was told that I would be put through to tech support and then the phone went dead, meaning I had to then call back and sit on hold once more.  I was then told it was being escalated to a Tier 2 Technical Support team and that was all I was told.  I was offered no explanation as to what could have happened, no explaination of what exactly Tier 2 Support was or when I would be contacted - nothing at all and the level of communication from the people I was speaking to was nothing short of awful.
    By the time I got through to someone who actually understood my complaint I was frustrated and very upset having been on the phone for most of yesterday and I decided that BT Vision was just not worth the hassle or stress and given that I had only just had it installed yesterday I told the gentleman I was speaking to that I just wanted to cancel BT Vision under the 14 day cooling off period I believed most customers were entitled to only to be told that BT don't have that policy at all and if I wanted to cancel Vision I would have to pay £200 and that I should just wait for someone to contact me to see if there's a problem with the Vision box.
    So, if you're still with me after all that then you deserve a drink!
    Has anyone else had this problem and what was done to fix it?  I don't want to be paying for a service I'm not actually getting!

    In case anyone needs to know, this is the equipment I have:
    BT Home Hub 3.0 (wired to the white box and it right next to the TV)
    BT Vision Plus box (connected to TV via HDMI cable, has an ariel lead straight into it, hard-wired to the Home Hub)
    I have also tried the following as per BT's direction:
    Unplugging each wire from the Home Hub, waiting 20 seconds and replacing
    Rebooting Home Hub
    Unplugging each wire from the BT Vision Plus box, waiting 30 seconds and replacing
    Rebooting BT Vision Plus box
    Resetting registration on BT Vision Plus box
    Scanned for channels (three times)
    There was a thread here that suggested going through the force resyncronisation but I don't have that option anywhere at all.

    There are still no Extra channels.
    I've now done a factory reset and it's telling me that there are no updates available.

    Me:: I would like this sorted out today as I have now done everything I am able to to try and fix this - rebooting the home hub, rebooting the Vision box, resetting the Vision box and factory resetting the Vision box.

    Me:: Where the ethernet cable is connected to the BT Vision Box there are two lights.  One is green and steady, the other is yellow and blinking.

    BT Advisor: (name removed), I have checked with the level 2 Team and they have asked to perform the factory reset once again as the previous reset was not successful as after the reset the Box will automatically install the update.

    When resetting the Vision box you will lose the recordings you have on the Vision box
    If you able to start the Vision box please follow these steps:
    1. Press BT Vision button on the remote control
    2. Select Help and Settings

    BT Advisor: I apologise as you did not get a call back earlier but the Technical Management Centre will have to do some checks to see why you are not getting the extra channels and that will take some time.
    BT Advisor: If you can provide me with a mobile that they can call you.
    Me:: I am not getting the extra channels because the Vision box is not set up for MULTICAST CHANNELS.  All that needs to be done is to have the correct software sent to the Vision Box.  I do not think this will take 24 hours as yesterday I was told it would only take a maximum of 6 hours.
    Me:: If I am not contacted today within a reasonable time frame I will take this further.
    BT Advisor: (name removed), I do not assure that you will get a call back today but surely you will get a call back within the next 24 hours
    Me:: By the way, the Vision Box IS connected to the Home Hub and the internet.  There are still no updates available.
    Me:: That is not good enough I'm afraid.  I have been chasing BT to fix their error since Wednesday and still nobody has bothered to contact me as promised.
    BT Advisor: (name removed), as you have tried to do it manually it is not updating the box so that is the reason why I'm raising the case to the Technical Management Centre.
    Me:: Then that means that the box is faulty and as I have been told by the cancellation team that if the box is faulty I am able to cancel BT Vision I would like to do that now.
    BT Advisor: The box is not faulty, its just that the update is not getting installed.
    Me:: That is, by definition, a fault.
    Me:: I am not arguing this further with you.  Kindly put me in contact with someone who can either fix this immediately or the cancellation team.

    To be honest I'm feeling beyond fed up with this whole thing.  I realize I was being a bit bolshy with this advisor but having been Mrs Nice Lady for the past two days I'm just letting my frustration out a bit.
    Anyone else feel like banging their head against a brick wall?

  • Can I get some help with my vision

    HI,?I am new to these boards and need help with my Creative Labs Zen Vision M. I bought it a little more than a year ago so it is out of warranty. Heres the problem: the screen is completey black and no lights or anything indicate that it is on. When I put it in the charger for the wall?I bought, a blue light on top near the power switch turns on.When I put it in the USB port in my computer the computer does not recognize a connection is being made and the player remains blank. ?The blue light on top?is about as far as it got. I havent really have any problems like this before other than having to poke the reset button from time to time. Any information or tips would be appreciated.

    I'm having exactly the same issue, and it's definitely not the battery as I've left mine charging for days at a time, and the problem started virtually overnight. I'm pretty disappointed, I haven't even had the player a year and it's already totally unusable.

  • Help with linking combo boxes so that some options are made unavailable

    I'm having trouble setting up an interactive PDF form with multiple combo boxes.
    I have designed an interactive PDF form in InDesign CS6 but am doing the final preparation and formatting in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
    First of all, I am not sure if I should be using combo boxes or list boxes, but the combo box seemd to look better after I export the PDF and also left the field blank, ready for selection from the drop-down menu.
    Basically I have a list of drop-down lists, but not all combinations are compatible. For example, after maing "Selection 1" in "Combo box 1", I need only "Selection 1", "2", and "3" [out of the total 5] to be available in "Combo box 2".
    I need to be able to apply this algorhythm to the next few combo boxes as well.
    Moreover, I would need some of the checkboxes disabled [the user won't be able to check them at all]when I make a certain selection in some of the combo boxes.
    Needless to say, I don't know any Java, coding or making calculations in LiveCycle Designer, so I don't even know where to begin.
    I have attached a screen grab of my form and what I want to achieve.

    If it is static data, I would suggest you to cache it rather than having it in each of the user session. You can have configuration/code to refresh when needed. Please look at any available caching frameworks (EhCache, OSCache etc...)

  • Please somebody help with bt vision problem

    Ok here goes:
    after spending over two hours on the phone to BT's diabolically poor indian call centre's I though I might have more luck checking if anyone online has the same problem.
    Basically my bt vision box doesnt record and neither does it give me the option to access the recordings I have already made.
    The white bar at the top of the screen doesnt show the word "recordings" anymore.
    I've spoken to about 7 different advisors who claim there is no record on the system of me being a BT vision customer (i've been using it since august!!!) and when they can't fix my problem they usually just pass me to another (usually irrelavant) department.
    Anyone got any ideas? Or failing that a direct number for a uk based call centre?

    I have got Virgin Media in my area, and I haven't bothered, because they are, unfortunately, are just as bad.
    Bt's UK call centre staff are OK, if not excellent.
    You should ring 0800 800 900 early in the morning and you should get the UK call staff.
    They really know their stuff. They'll sort you out.

  • Help With Zen Vision:M 30G, lost alot of music, "rebuilding" progress bar doesnt fin

    I purchased my Zen Vision:M 30GB player about 5 months ago and its been great untill today I turned it on and it froze, so i hit the reset button.
    Heres the thingI reset it and that "Rebuilding" progress bar poped up like it has in the past when i hit reset?But this time the progress bar only got about? /6th of the way full, before the unit returned to its normal menu, and i went to look at my music and about 90% of it is gone! Ive done a restart in the past and the rebuilding progress bar would have to fill up all the way before it would go to the normal menu and i had no problems with it then, just today it started doing the thing where it would only go /6th the way. Heres the weird stuff,I went to look at the system information to look how much memory was left and based on the numbers, my 90% of missing music should still be on there somewhere. I tried connecting it to my computer and all the sudden now my computer decides to recognize it but The Creative Media Explorer will say its not connected, that is a first for me too?I tried doing that system recovery thing, where i did the scan disk but that did not help at all. Everytime i try to re-boot or re-start it does that thing where the "Rebuilding" progress bar only goes /6th of the way before it goes back to the normal menu, i think that has somthing to do with it.     I was just about to post a topic about this. I had the same problem and after numerous efforts I decided to follow the "Format (All)" instructions [url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=5530#M5530">here[/url]. After a reformat, a reboot, and a reload of all my songs everything is working again. Thank the Lord and the Creative forums.

  • Need Help with Postioning Text Boxes

    Hello,
    I am fairly new to APEX, but I think I getting the hang of it. I am very much impressed with the functionality. I have a question and I hope someone can help me with it.
    I have a Diagram that looks like:
    X
    X X X X
    X X X X X
    The X's represent values that will go in the them, source being an SQL Query so I though I could use TextBox Item and make the sqlquery which will be a count of some sort. This will be dynamically changed depending on user input.
    I also have lines connecting to the X's and labels. So I created a table with the diagram as a background. So my dilema is that how do I reference ITEM Text boxes to be in the table. I tried
    <table background="my_image.bmp"><tr><td>#ITEMS#:P1_X</td></tr><table>
    but it only shows up as ":P1_X" not that actual ITEM, i know my syntax maybe wrong to reference the item, so that would be my first question.
    Is there a way I can just position the actual textbox to in the table?
    My second question, for positioning so the textboxes woudl line up where the X's are, should I use CSS, and if so, do I have to upload a Style Sheet?(which I don't mind, just wondering if there is a way to just use CSS in the Page HTML SOURCE?)
    SO... basically I would like to know the best way to get these textboxes in the place where the X's are. The diagram is a image that is the background of a table. Any thoughts?

    After posting the message my representation of the diagram is a bit off, it looks like a Tree diagram with spaces and teh first X being in the middle and equally spaced then on.

    The 'hover' text should appear as you go over the pictures at the bottom of the page under  RECENT ANGELS section.
    As you see in this page (Under "Our Projects") :HOME - Arctic Template
    the 'hover' text box appear as you go 'over' the picture, but in 'my' page it doesn't.
    Now, when I 'preview' in my computer, I can see the 'over text box' appear but when I upload it, it just doesn't.
    Can you please check it out and help me with this problem please?

  • Help with centralising a box in the absolute middle og the browser screen

    Hello there, i was wondering if someone could help me out
    with a little problem im having.
    im trying to design a site which basically has a box in the
    middle of the browser where all the info is displayed.
    now i know that if u set the horizontal alignment to middle
    then the box will be in the middle of the screen, this much is fine
    However, my problem comes when u try to make it the centre of
    the vertical axis. i can place it a certain distance from the top
    to give it this impression of being in the middle, however if u
    view it from a higher screen size then it will no longer be in the
    middle vertically.
    ive tried setting the vertical alignment to middle but
    dreamweaver ignores that. it seems to be totally blind to the
    height of the screen, as when i have tried to put things at the
    bottom of the screen by making a table 100% tall it just ignores
    the height and these things that should be at the bottom are
    actually in the middle of the page.
    Could someone shed some light on this apparent shadow of
    dreamweaver as its been buggin me for a while now

  • Need help with dependent lists boxes with ADF.

    Hello,
    I am doing a project that use tree dependent list boxes.
    Ex. State---->
    College---->
    List of courses of the college chosen above----->
    The way this should work is when I select the state automatically I want it to change to the correspondent list of colleges of that state and after i choose the colleges I want to be able to get all the courses that are given in that college.
    To implement the first two list boxes I create tree views on JDeveloper and and using SelectOneChoice for both State and Colleges. In the binding editor I bind the first View with the second and then the second view with the third and at this point if I execute the first SelectOneChoice would give me all the state and the second SelectOneChoice would give me the list of all the colleges that exist.
    Now on the third view that I create a binding variable and i put a Where state=:TheBindingVariable on the query.
    Also I set the first SelectOneChoice the outoSubmit property to true, id to StateId and PartialTrigger property to CollegeId.
    On pageDef.xml in the bindings I create action form where I select the third view from Date Collection and select Action as ExecuteWithParams. And I set the value under the parameters section to #{bindings.state.inputValue}.
    Under executables still in pageDef.xml I create a invokeAction and I set binds = ExecuteWithParams.
    On first SelectOneChoice on the ChangeValueListener i create a new ManageBeans which generate me a java class and I create a new method as well to use it to change the binding variable on the second SelectOneChoice.
    Here is the method:

  • Help with the check box.

    Hi,
    I have a question with the Checkbox. I am using Apex 4.0.
    I have 5 checkboxes and using the Lovs I have given values to each check box.
    When I select the checkboxes and submit, the values are inserted into a single column.
    Example
    Consider CB as check box
    CB1 1
    CB2 2
    CB3 3
    CB4 4
    CB5 5
    When I Select CB1, CB4, CB5 In database it stores as 1:4:5 But, I need it to be stored as 10045 format. Like if I select CB2,3 5 then it should be stored as 02305
    The return value of the checkbox should be displayed along with the other unselected values as 0s as told in the above format.
    Can anyone help me with this.

    I'm new to Macs and having a lot of trouble. I bought a Bason NAS box and hooked it up to my network of two XP machines and my Mac (OSX 10.4). The XP machines see it fine and I can access the box from them. The Mac shows the NAS with it's name (Artserv2) but I can't access it.
    When I click on Artserv2 (my NAS box) I get the following message:
    The alias "Artserv2" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found.
    I can't "Fix Alias" because I don't get to choose a network and I'm not allowed to delete the entry.
    OK, I know lots of people have had similar problems to this, but I'm sorry to say that I haven't been able to make any progress fixing this problem. I really need to get this fixed. I like this Mac and I would be most appreciative of any help.

    Hello Paul,
    You need to provide a more detailed description of your computer/network setup including how your computers are connected, the connection link type (wired ethernet, wireless) if any routers/switches are present etc...
    The "Fix Alias" issue is a VFAQ for Tiger and you should use "Command-K" or from the Finder Go-->Connect to Server instead...

  • Looking for some help with package design (box)

    I'm pretty good with Photoshop, but Illustrator is fairly new to me. I'm helping a friend do his product packages and I already have all of the graphics, I'm just having trouble figuring out how to put it all together in Illustrator.
    We already have the box dimensions and just need to get a vector file that the factory can use to print. My main question is how do I create the actual layout of the box to work on? In the pdf that was sent to us I can pull out the box, but it just sits on a white background.
    My next question is how do I fill the layout with a pattern. I have a carbon fiber look pattern in Photoshop, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to use it to fill in Illustrator.

    Pardon me if I sound rude by suggesting that before you launch into an expensive printing job (which could result in disastrous consequences if you don't do it right) that you actually learn how to use the program first. You may also want to learn something about the offset printing process and how to prepare print jobs.
    Even many Illustrator novices know that there is no such thing as a background in Illustrator, in the sense that there is in Photoshop. You will need to PLACE your Photoshop background as a high resolution CMYK tiff in the provided template. That's the answer to your second question. I don't really understand your first question. Maybe someone else will. Are you simply asking, "where do I begin?" If so, then you REALLY REALLY need to read a book on how to use Illustrator. The Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book might be the place to start.

  • Help with drop down box if/then function and sum

    Hi, I am hoping someone can help me with an if/then function. I have a drop down box with all of the provinces listed, then based on their choice I need to calculate provincial sales tax with a sum function for the price of the item plus the sales tax. Help!

    You can enter the sales tax rate for each province as the export value and
    then use the drop-down field directly in your calculations.

  • NEED HELP WITH ZEN VISION M PLEASE HE

    i'v recently brought the new creative zen vision M in pink and i think its broken! i charged it on my computer and loaded songs with no problems and used it on holiday for a while untill the battery ran out. i tried to charge it on my speakers (which say that they charge mp3 players) but this wouldnt work, iv also tried charging it on my computer now im home but it wont even connect let alone charge! all that happens when i plug it into my usb on my computer is the on switch flashes blue, the screen is blank though and the low battery sign doesnt even show!
    i'v tried resetting it but it still wont work. i really dont know what to do as iv tried everything i can to sort it out
    if anyone could offer any help id really apprieciate it as i paid alot of money for it n really want it to work!

    Looks like you might have to return it if it isn't responding to charging and the reset option. Is it under the 30 days return policy?
    OR you could have an RMA so that Creative fixes it and then returns it to you. Here is most of the info:
