Help with fill, in shape tool?

Hi
InDesign CS 4.
When I drag a new rectangle it always fills with a fade from left to right with a border line that fades as well. It's the same with elipses or polygons.
Trying to change the fill, or the line color has no effect.
I don't know how I got this turned on and I can't figure out how to turn is off.
I'm in the middle of a job, I need to get this fixed.

Here is the image...
As you can see it works fine if I open a new document.
If I open any of the pages then the problem comes back.\
So somehow what ever is happening is encoded into the documents.
I also noticed that the shapes created are transparent.
When I overlapped it with another box I could see it underneath.
Well since it works fine in Windows 7 I'll just finish the job using it and hope that it doesn't happen on the next job.
Weird that it works in Windows 7 and suddenly not in Windows 8.
And if it's an error in the file why does it not open the same in 7.

PE 7- Help with Filling Shapes

Having trouble with something pretty basic (I thought)...
How do I fill a shape (rectangle, circle, etc) that I create on a Title from the toolbar?
When I select one of the shape tools, I can create one in the Title area but I can't figure out how to fill it with color.
Tried COLOR PROPERTIES but FILL is not 'active'.
Appreciate some enlightenment on this.

My mistake... OOPS!
I selected a TITLE that must have had a transparent background (BLUENOTES_LWR_THIRD).
I usually start by selecting any TITLE then deleting the default graphics in it to create a black b/g.
From there, I make copies of the b/g and use those for my custom titles (Intro, end, etc.) which I add TEXT to.
Once I selected GENERIC1_TITLE, and deleted the default graphics, I was able to add RECTANGLE to it
and modify the fill color.
I know there's probably an easier/better way to create titles; just haven't had the time to 'explore' more.

Need Help with Filling in Created Object

I'm trying to fill in this object with a solid color I created just using the arc tool. However, what happens when I use the default fill and stroke tool is that it fills in the shape of the arc rather than just inside the object
Can someone help me figure out how to fill in just inside the object? I have CS6. Thanks

In addition to what Doug said, your screenshot says that you have two paths meeting in the middle. You can just select them and Ctrl/Cmd+J (I think). In earlier versions you needed to Direct Select one set of coinciding end Anchor points (the top or bottom set (dragging over only them after having deselected everything), and then you could (normal) select the whole path and Ctrl/Cmd+J to join the other set.

Help with Cisco Output Interpreter tool!!

Hi All,
I am experiencing a problem with Cisco Output Interpreter tool.
While the tool is working fine and displaying the "CONFIGURATION COMMAND REFERENCE NOTIFICATIONS (if any)" very effectively but I am unable to use the hyperlink to get an understanding about a particular command.
When I click on a particular command(hyperlink) it pops up another window and the below error is displayed.
Not Found
The requested URL /cgi-bin/Support/Cmdlookup/ios-command-lookup.pl was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Anyone else had/have this particular error. Could you please help me with this.

Help with making circle shape photo....

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me
out please.
I am using Photoshop CS Version 8.   I have a photo which I would like to print out but in a circle shape. I'm a bit of a novice at Photoshop and can only really re-size, crop and alter tints/hues and thats about it. After struggling with this I found this tutorial in Youtube but go so far and am stuck.

The photo is 4 x 5.3in but I want the circle to be 4 x 4 in. That is what I sized it when I did File, New. I can draw the circle but its not a steady line, its like dotted and when I click the background or anywhere in the image, the circle disappears. Also by fluke, another time I got as far as placing the photo and dragging it to fit but could not get the photo inside the circle. I'm not good at layers and mine seem to say set 1, not stage 1.   I don't find it as easy as it is in the video. Can anyone enlighted me please?

I use CS3, so I can tell you how I'd do it, but I can't be sure it's applicable to your version:
Open the photograph.
Create a new layer on top of it.
Double click on the background layer to unlock it. It now becomes Layer 0. Move Layer 1 under Layer 0.
Go to the Eliptical Tool and set the Fixed Ratio 1 to 1.
Circle the picture - move the dotted circle to frame the area you want. Then Select -> Inverse; Then Edit -> Cut.
Merge Down, and save as a JPEG.   Then you can print the image.

Need help with Elements 10 & Smartbrush Tool

I'm new to PSE 10 and have a lot to learn. I'm using it to enhance my photos of properties when I list and sell them. I was doing fine with the Smartbrush tool and Quick Selection Tool after watching a few videos on the Internet, but now I'm experiencing an issue with these tools that is most likely a very quick adjustment. When I choose either tool, instead of allowing me to choose an area of my photo, the selected area ends up the entire photo and after I clean that up, if I go anywhere even near to the edges of the photo, another selected area appears as a rectangular shape. It's like I've lost contol of the tools and I'm not sure of what I've changed to make this happen. Thanks for any help you can offer.

On the option bar for each of the tools, there is a little arrow, top left. Click on that and reset the tool.That may fix it..
If not, please report back.

Help with using the pen tool

I have a few different problems with the pen tool.
1. When using the pen tool I keep finding that the shape I'm doing is slightly overlapping where I've already gone with the pen tool.
If I try and go over that area again the path I've just drawn then jumps and ruins the shape I was creating.
How can I stop this from happening?
2. Also is there a limit to the amount of paths you can create and add text to? I created two paths and typed on them fine but when I added a third path it refused to type. The cursor didn't change to show I could type and if I did click on the path line and try to type jumped to my other path and typed there. All paths were on different layers and none were overlapping, but it is 3 circles inside each other that get smaller if this makes a difference.
How can I type on the third path?
3. When I have done a path and clicked stroke it is only a thin line. How can I make this line thicker?

Ok, the first example would be something like this. Pretending the lines go elsewhere, say I've drawn a path with the pen tool, gone round the bottom box and that then goes round the two lines going down. So if I go down the one on the left side it hits the previous path I did, but to go up the line on the right side I'd need to go across there. But if I make a point where the two lines meet to do this it then throws the line off elsewhere.
I did have snap vector tools on but it does that without it on.
The next one I was creating a car speedometer so it has lines on the outside, dots inside of that and then, where I've done the blue circle, would be the third path where I then write the numbers in. But I can never write on that third path.
And finally, the pen tool and I think it dd have Shape Dynamics set. I've changed a couple of things and it looks a bit better now so I think that should be ok. Thanks
I know I haven't shown the panels but I haven't got any for the first as it won't go right so I deleted what I was doing. And each thing I've done is on a different layer for the speedometer, all just paths created with the circle tool with the text on.

Can you help with the moire adjustment tool in Camera Raw?

I have a file with a lot of moire on a child's dress and am having problems using camera raw moire adjustment tool.
I opened a jpeg file (not raw) in camera raw. When I use the moire adjustment brush - set to +100 - and click on the eyeglass tool in the window to see the effect - it shows a white overlay.
Clicking the preview button doesn't show up any difference.
I have saved several files as tests but the moire remains unaltered.
Any help appreciated. Or alternatively, suggestions on how to deal with Moire in Photoshop.

If possible deal with the moire issues up front. If you have original re-scan to see if you can reduce effect. If not do a web search for this. There are several tutorials listed such as http://photographylife.com/how-to-remove-moire-in-photoshop

Mac user needs help with photoshop screen and tool bar

Hello when I open photoshop I get the screen you can see to the left. The right hand tool bar has disapeard, if you scroll across it comes into view, I want to be able to open photoshop as I could originally with the screen the size of the computer screen and the tool bar in place. What is also happening is that when I select the image i want, the image goes directly on to the screen and does not go to the tool bar above, again I would like to have the images going to the tool bar so I can select them and put them on a blank page. The same happens when I open up a blank page it does not store it in the tool bar but opens it up directly on to sreen. Hope you can help.

Thanks also tried that it does hangs the screen back to how it was but the background is now my screen saver with the photoshop tool bars around. But the docking area is still not visible and when I open a file it opens it as sep screen and layer and not as part of docking station? Very strange

Help with filling a background

I have photoshop elements 5.0 and I primarily want to use it to create my own custom scrapbooks. Before, I had used microsoft powerpoint. Powerpoint had a very easy way to fill in my backgrounds. You selected background-->fill-->texture-->file. This allowed me to select a custom background tile from my picture documents to fill the entire background. I don't see this feature in photoshop.
I do see a fill layer option which prompts you to select a pattern. I tried to load my own custom pattern but was unable to find any files with the .pat extension. Please help me figure out how to fill in my backgrounds using graphics from my own files.

I use a resolution of 300 for my projects, but I keep them on a portable hard drive and off my c drive.
I think you probably want a resolution of at least 200 if you are planning to print. Check your printer documentation.
If space is a problem you might want to keep just a jpg of your finished page on your hard drive and save the original layered psd (or tif) off line on dvd or cd.

Need help with filling circle with circular fill animation

Hello, I'm creating an old fashioned movie countdown
animation but I'm not sure how to approach filling a circle with a
radar-like sweep.
If anyone has any sort of clue how to do this I would

By ArrayList do you mean the hashtable in your code?
Because a hastable is not the same as an arraylist....
For one thing your hashtable is wrong...
The first parameter you pass in a put method is a key, the second is an object...
When you want to get the object from the hashtable you pass it the key.... like so:
hash.put("Str1", new Double(8));
Double l_Double = (Double)hash.get("Str1");With an ArrayList you don't use keys by the way...

Help with mdb core analysis tool

Hi,
We are having a possibly memory leak problem but we don't know for sure. In order to find out if there any memory leaks, we are trying to use "mdb" tool that comes along with Solaris (version: SunOS romeo 5.10 Generic_125100-10 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200). Problem is when I run "mdb" the module "libumem.so.1" is not loaded. This is what I get

Loading modules: [ libc.so.1 libuutil.so.1 ld.so.1 ] I have set the following:
UMEM_DEBUG=default
UMEM_LOGGING=transaction
LD_PRELOAD=libumem.so.1
But still no luck. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to load libumem.so.1 module?

Help with applets and shape/pixel detection

im currently trying to write my first propear programming project, its a little evolving ecosystem but ive hit a stumbling block. im trying to write a method which returns an array of positions around a calling creatures location filled with numbers that refer to its surroundings, in the snippet below it places a 1 in reference to a prey. the method performs a pixel by pixel search of x y matches in an area around the calling creature, it then decides what location the reference is to be placed by working out which range of positions it is in.
unfortunately no one seems to recognise anybody or behave in the manner in which im encoding them to. i suspect its problem with my basic (and im sure crude) algorithm. if anyone has the time or indeed the inclination to look over this code and offer some opinion i would be very greatful indeed. or has anyone worked on a problem similar to this and could offer me some advice.

I am trying to fill out an application and when I am entering addresses, whenever I go to the next line it will automatically fill in the previous line and when I delete and change it, it will change the first line to the second line and it will not let me enter the information.
