Help with GCC4 $LDBLStub library errors

At my work we use allot of custom shared libraries. under gcc 3.3 we were able to compile and create these libraries and work with our code, i am currently tring to upgrade to gcc 4 and i have noticed that our systems wont compile anymore. one of our custom functions xprintf in the library is called my other libraries and in the main code. it live in a library called pst.o
when i compile the other libraries gcc 4 appends the following undefined symboles
_xprintf$LDBLStub
to the other programs
gcc 3.3 did not do this and it would create
_xprintf only
is there a way to make gcc 4 do the same thing
this is neccesary because i am trying to create univeral binaries to run on ppc and intel
gcc version 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5341)

I have actually found the problem but i dont know how to solve it. i am hoping that you can help.
imn out programms we use the macro -D printf=xprintf because we use a speacial format for output.
in gcc 4.0 it seems to take this and create the $LDBLStub symole when you perform a macro subtitution i am not sure how to disable this and i can find a solution to it.

  • "iPod classic synched with a different library" error

    I get an error saying that my iPod is synched to another library - but I can't get that library to display the contents!! When I open my iTunes, the library is empty and I get the error message. How do I get the original library back (i.e. to display) instead of the current (empty) one?? I have over 42GB of music!!
    Anyone???

    Sorry about the delay, chris.
    no actually, just replace the "owner's iPod" name in the error message with the name of the shuffle...etc. but the rest of the message is the same.
    Thank you kindly. That rules out a possible complication/ramification of a Windows drive letter confusion (that can cause the name of a different ipod to appear when an ipod is plugged in).
    Backtracking to something from your initial post:
    that was the library that existed each time I pulled up iTunes... now, no library of songs is listed, and none of my playlists are on the computer, unless I have my iPod connected to it.
    What I'm wondering here is if someone has accidentally created a second library on the PC in your user account, as per:
    How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
    If you have multiples libraries in the same user account, unless you actively choose to open a different library during the start-up process, by default the last library that was open in iTunes is the one that will open when you next launch iTunes. So if a new blank library was created, and that blank library screen was open when iTunes was closed, that blank library would keep coming up each time iTunes was launched in the ordinary fashion. (And your ipods would say that they were synced to a different library if you connected them while the new blank library was open.)
    So, next time you open iTunes, try choosing a library (as per the document I linked to earlier) and see if you can find your previous library. If the original library was in the default location, the following document may help with locating its .itl file:
    What are the iTunes Library files?
    Can you find another library file, with your music in it?

  • Please help with cannot find symbol error. Been struggling all day :(

    Hi all. :)
    Writing a game for my phone with KToolbar and have been getting a cannot find symbol error for every variable and method I try to use across Classes. I've looked all over and though it seems a common problem I always either don't understand or can't get working the various solutions. Example of my errors:
    C:\...\BTK800i.java:197: cannot find symbol
    symbol : variable youSayWhat
    location: class HelloCanvas
              youSayWhat=key;
              ^
    If I try BTK800i.variable or BTK800i.message I get a new error.
    C:\...\src\BTK800i.java:184: non-static method newOrdersSarge() cannot be referenced from a static context
              BTK800i.newOrdersSarge();
              ^
    Both these errors apply to both variables and methods. It only happens when I'm using methods/variables of one class in another, am I using public and private incorrectly? It doesn't seem to make a difference if I make variables public or leave them private, I'm trying to get to them with a public method within a private class. Is it something else? I really have no idea. :(
    Here's my code, it's long enough to be a tiresome read so I've tried to skip what I know isn't relevant.
    public class BTK800i extends MIDlet {
         private Display myDisplay;
         private HelloCanvas myCanvas;
         public int youSayWhat;
            //a whole bunch more skipped here, but I'm fairly certain it's not anything that'll help find a solution
         public BTK800i() {
              paused=false;
    public void startApp() throws MIDletStateChangeException {
              if( paused ) {
                   myCanvas.repaint();
              else {
                   myDisplay=Display.getDisplay(this);
                   myCanvas=new HelloCanvas();
                   myDisplay.setCurrent(myCanvas);
                   myCanvas.setFullScreenMode(true);
                   youSayWhat=0;
                           //again with the skipping, more code not related
    public void newOrdersSarge() {
    //whole bunch of code
    //other methods skipped
    class HelloCanvas extends Canvas {
         public void keyPressed (int key) {
              youSayWhat=key;
              repaint ();
    //skippage
    }The stuff I skipped is mainly either more of the same sorta thing or maths/writing to screen stuff.
    Thanks alot to anyone who helps. I'm really struggling with this. :(
    Dan.

    But I have been reading them :(
    My next-door neighbour unfortunately is an 80-something married man, but I will go have a looksie about static and instances.
    I thought the point of public variables was that other classes could use them, is this wrong?
    Also does this mean that to use the variables from my BTK class in the HelloCanvas class I need to first instantiate BTK? I don't understand how that works as the code starts running from the BTK class in the first place :S I guess more reading will help with this.
    Thanks very much for replying. :)
    Edit:
    OK I have read up on it but I don't think I found anything I hadn't read before. I tried to make a new class which I could instantiate to hold all the variables and methods I wanted everything to be able to access, but that went disastrously. Am I right in understanding that there are no global variables in Java? :s

  • Please help with backing up library

    OK, this has maybe been addressed before but I'm new here and haven't really found an answer on the forums... My work is saved as monthly projects and I want to export them to an external HD with metadata and adjustments etc but retain a referenced version in my library on my mac. Make sense? If I need to get anything back I can do a quick search and plug in the HD - yes? Trouble is if I export the project as-is I can't reimport referenced files... This is maybe my poor working practice and I'd really appreciate some help with it. I've previously just exported versions then burned DVD's but I'd really like to keep a record of pics on the mac if poss. HELP PLEASE!

    buzzski wrote:
    Thanks so much for your help with this! It sounds exactly like what I want to achieve. I'm wondering now if I can export my entire library and bring it back in as referenced instead of managed - hopefully someone can advise? Thanks, Craig
    You don't need to export you can do it from within Aperture, see *File->Relocate Master*.
    Again check out the user manual Apple did a real good job with this one.
    And PLEASE, PLEASE, make a complete backup of your Aperture library before trying any of this we are not responsible for lost, missing or mutilated photos

    I need help with Mavricks Server, I get the following: an error occurred while configuring your server.  I have deleted the Server.app several times along with the associated com.apple and Server folder.  Any more help would be appreciated.

    There are usually some log files around, related to the installation.  See if Console.app (Applications > Utilities) shows anything relevant to the error, when you've done a fresh install of Server.app and tried the configuration.

  • Old Toad - help with lost iPhoto Library

    I posted in the iPhoto 06 board by mistake, I am actually running 08. I found the iPhoto library in Pictures, but it stopped in July 07, and I seem to have lost a year's worth of photos. Do you have any advice?

    Miriam:
    It may be that the photos are still there but that bunch has been lost from the database file. Try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
    2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
    Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
    4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos.
    3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
    Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    Open the library package like this.
    Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open Photo window
    This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Help with Accessing iTunes Library from both Mac and PC

    Hi All
    I'm new to this community and new(ish) to the world of Mac.
    At home we share a single iTunes Library stored on a NAS Drive across 4 different Windows PC's (Mine, My Wifes and the 2 kids).  I have recetly got myself a MacBook Pro and hoped to hook it up to our central iTunes library.
    I was pleased to see that the Library opened but sadly none of the songs can be located and I get the dreaded grey symbol against tracks if I try and play them.
    On further investigation it would appear to be a naming convention issue.  The iTunes Library is expecting to see each song in the following location:
    file://localhost/Volumes/Music/iTunes Library/iTunes Media/Music/Artist/Album/song.mp3
    The problem is the localhost element as the mac sees the same location as:
    file://Volumes/Music/iTunes Library/iTunes Media/Music/Artist/Album/song.mp3
    Is there anyway of harmonising between the 2 systems?  or am I asking the impossible.
    Many Thanks .... Blue

    Thanks Jim
    That does make sense.
    BUT ... have been doing some more investigation and it appears that my Windows iTunes is displaying the same symptoms and the tracks have lost connection with the iTunes Library.
    I'm now very confused ....
    I take it what I am trying to do IS possible?
    Any other suggestions.
    Many Thanks .... Blue

  • Help with "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54)"

    Hi,
    Has anyone else had this problem?  And how do I correct it?  "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54)"

    adamwineguy wrote:
    I was having this issue as well, after doing two things: updating iTunes yesterday, and installing and running ClamXav, a Mac antivirus tool.
    I have now fixed the issue, first I made sure that I had the proper permissions for iTunes and it's library folders. Then I completely removed ClamXav and all its related files and restarted iTunes.  Now I no longer get this error when adding new media to iTunes or updating apps, and the library file saves fine.  For some reason I think it was related to the antivirus software.
    I think it was a coincidence as ClamXav only modifies permissions on the files it installs and none of those are anywhere near your iTunes folders, but I'm glad you got it working.

  • Help with downloading JSTL library

    Hi everyone,
    I've just started doing my second year degree in Multimedia Computing and am doing a year long module in JSP. I've installed Tomcat and everything at home but I'm having trouble getting my code to work which I've copied out of my book to see how it works. This is what I have written in JPadPro...
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
    <c:set value="Tiddles" var="myCat" />
    <c:set var="myDbId" scope="application">jdbc:mysql://localhost/eg02dsdb</c:set>

    myDbId is
    <c:out value="${applicationScope.myDbId}" default="No myDbId object in this application"/>
    </p>
    </body>
    </html>
    When I come to open the JSP file in http://localhost:8080 a message appears stating....
    The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: File "/WEB-INF/tld/c.tld" not found
    After doing some research on the Internet I figured that I might need to download the JSTL core library off Apache's website. However when I get to the download page I don't have a clue which link to click on and what to do fromt there. There's loads of links saying things like BCSL, Cactus etc and they all have a link beside them that says KEYS and two files under each, one a .zip and the other a tar.gz but I don't have a clue which links I have to click on or anything. I have seen a few Tomcat links but don't know whether I should click on them. I just don't want to download the wrong stuff and mess up and files that are already in place in my j3t folder. If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it! Thank you so much.

    I don't know how to award the duke points but i'll do that in a sec for you. I do have mySQL on the machine but I don't have it running. That may be why, as for the classes and that, I haven't created any. I simply copied the code out of this workbook my lecture created as an example. That may be the reason the code doesn't work, its probably because I don't have the classes he created on machine. I did just try doing a simple mathematical equation in the JSP file though and that produced the following results...
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    <c:set value="Tiddles" var="myCat" />
    <c:set var="myDbId" scope="application">jdbc:mysql://localhost/eg02dsdb</c:set>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title> Question 1 </title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <p>
    myCat is
    <c:out value="${pageScope.myCat}" default="No myCat object on this page"/>
    myDbId is
    <c:out value="${applicationScope.myDbId}" default="No myDbId object in this application"/>
    3+4+*5=
    <c:out value="${3+4*5}"/>
    </p>
    </body>
    </html>
    myCat is ${pageScope.myCat}
    myDbId is ${applicationScope.myDbId}
    3+4+*5= ${3+4*5}
    I'll award you these duke points now, thank you for trying to help me, sorry I'm a bit slow with understanding all this, I did a lot of quite simple java last year but it wasn't one of my favourite subject areas.

  • Help with putting my library book in to my nook

    When I click and drag my library book to
    the nook icon,from my AED,  and im connected to my nook, when I try to open my book and read it on my nook it says "user not activate" What do I do?

    This kind of error may relate to your Nook and how you set it up, not to the
    book you transferred.  ADE doesn't know anything about how you've set up the
    Nook.  All it sees is an ereader connected to the computer, and what kind it
    is.
    I don't know what information you need to 'activate' your Nook with its
    parent website, so I'm afraid I can't help you check this aspect out.

    You can't do that, ever. Elements is not a tidy package like most mac apps and you can never move an installed copy. You must always install from scratch on a new machine.By trying to move it you've made extra work for yourself. You will need to download and run this:
    Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    after which you can go around and manually delete what you can find in the applications folder, hard drive>library>application support>adobe, and your username>library>preferences.
    Then install from your original media.

  • Help with iTunes Shared Library (Vista and OS X)

    I am trying to share my Vista-based iTunes library with my new iMac. I have an issue now that iTunes does not let me select the shared iTunes library that resides on the PC. The following is how things are set up
    1) I've moved all of my PC-based music, my iTunes Library (.itl) file and the cover art to an external HD on my Vista PC.
    2) I've set permissions on all of the Vista files (music, library, art) to be read/write for available to all connected users.
    3) I have also mounted the PC-based external drive on my iMac. Permissions seem to be ok, as when I view files via the Finder, they are visable and accessible.
    4) However, when I try to open iTunes on iMac to change the shared library (using the OPTION key), the iTunes Library.itl file on the hard drive is completely greyed out. No matter how I change permissions or sharing on the Vista machine, I cannot seem to select the shared library.
    5) Interesting that I HAVE successfully accessed the same library through another Windows-based machine (Windows XP). In that instance I can access the network drive and select the iTunes Library.itl file no problem. Music streams fine after I do that. Also, from my iMac I am able to create files in the same directory where the iTunes files reside (using program like Text Editor) so it seems I do have write access and permissions to the directory.
    Any clue why this is happening? It seems like iTunes is the one program that is not picking up the permissions from the iMac, but other Mac programs are. It's driving me a little nuts at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx

    Bump. Same issue. Help please.

  • Help with 'unlocking' iPhoto Library! SO LOST!

    I was a PC user all my life and recently I decided to switch to Mac. I'm still figuring things out and for the most part I've got the hang of it, with one exception...iPhoto. I'm not having problems with iPhoto or using it for that matter, my problem is this; I want to be able to upload photos using Facebooks photo uploader instead of having to upload the entire album using the iPhoto uploader. My next problem is that I just purchased Pixelmator and it won't let me open photos from my iPhoto library. The only photos I can access are the ones from Photo Booth. So, how do I 'unlock' my iPhoto library so that I can actually access my photos? HELP!!!

    To up load selected photos to Facebook (or any other supported service) select the photo(s) and click on the service name in the tool bar - it will create an album in the source pane on the left and up load to the selected service. Any changes made to the album on the service or in iPhoto will be synced so they always stay the same
    TO access your photos in any open/attach window look in the lower left hand corner under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto (*the media browser) - click here for a discussion on the many correct and safe ways to access your iPhoto library photos.
    and it would be a worthwhile investment of time to take the iphoto tutorials - http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/ - they are very helpful and will save you a lot of time and frustration.

  • Need help with coding: getting an error

    Hi there everyone, this would be my first post here, and my first post on any forum related to programming. Im taking a highschool computer science course, in which we are learning J2SE. I have read ahead a bit, and am having trouble with the following program:
    //=============================================================================

    public class currencyconverter1
         private Double dollarRate = 1.00000;

                   dollarAmount = euroAmount*conversionRate;
                   System.out.println(dollarAmount);
                   return euroAmount
                   }JCreator is telling me I need a '(' on the "main" line. I simply cannot find where this is needed. Can anyone help, or recommend another forum where I may find some help? Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply... I tested out your code, and it didn't compile, so after playing with it, heres what I got to compile (please read past the code):
    public class currencyconverter1
         private Double dollarRate = 1.00000;
         private Double conversionRate = 1.22990;
         private Double dollarAmount = 0.0;
         private Double euroAmount = 0.0;
         public Double convert (Double euroAmount)
              dollarAmount = euroAmount * conversionRate;
              System.out.println(dollarAmount);
              return euroAmount;
    }It gives me the following message when I execute the .exe: "Exception in thread "main" Java.Lang.NoSuchMethodError: Main" ....
    Does anyone know what the deal is and can explain wnat my source code error is? Thanks again in advance.
