Help with printer  setup

we need to set a print to file printer. wich are the settings we need to use?

Were you actually able to print successfully over the wireless connection? My printer responds wirelessly-- the print try opens, the paper feeder turns, but then I get a 306 error.
I spent hours with tech support yesterday-- two different guys-- and both said I am trying to do the impossible. They say the Base Stations are only designed to deal with printers via USB.
But I don't see why the Base Station should care whether the wireless device is a printer or xbox or what have you, if it is wireless enabled.
It's all very frustrating.

    As I say, the printer is displayed in the print dialog box but the checkbox is grayed out. I'm assuming that when you say "...it can't find/see them now," you mean the print dialogue can't see them (the drivers). Your last sentence confuses me. You say, "Do you maybe have Printer Sharing enabled & they aren't actually directly connected? If so you have to reboot after turning it off." A little confusion about your antecedents here. What isn't actually connected? The printer? So I have to reboot after turning it off, "it" I suppose is the printer, is that right? I will try that. So turn printer off, reboot, turn printer on. Right?
    I will describe my problem. l thought that if I understood why the checkbox was grayed out I might see what my problem was. If you want me to start another topic I can do that.
    Problem: I have a network with 2 computers and the Brother
    multifunction fax/printer. I'm using an Apple airport hub. The printer
    and one computer (Mac tower) are connected to the airport base via
    ethernet. The 2nd computer (Apple laptop) is on the wireless network.
    Until recently i could print from both computers. Now I can't print from
    the tower. But I can still print from the laptop.
    When I try to print from the tower I get an error message that says, "Cannot print from current printer." I have rebooted, reinstalled printer drivers, checked cables, deleted printer from printer list and re-added printer all to no avail. But as I say, I can still print from the laptop which is using Airport. So the printer prints, the hub connects to the printer okay (ethernet) and I know the tower connects to the hub (I can ping the printer okay from the tower.)
    I am conversing to Brother support via email and their first suggestions I have already tried. Perhaps there's some problem in the network, but I can't figure it out. Worse yet, now when I go to the Network preferences I get an error message which says, "Your network settings have been changed by another application." THIS ERROR MESSAGE WON'T GO AWAY! I can click 'okay' but it reappears. I have to force quit the System Preferences to get out. If you can help with any of these problems I surely appreciate it.

    I cant seem to get my new canon mp530 printer to work via airport extreme or express. I have downloaded the driver software on both powerbooks, and have been able to print when the usb is plugged in directly.I am replacing a hp1600 that worked over this network. Thank You...the error message i get is"error :300.the printer does not respond.make sure that the printer is powered on and properly connected to your computer.

  • Help with Print Layout Designer

    Hi all,
    I'm not sure if I should post this here or not, I already posted it in the Business One Forum.  Moderator(s)  if this is not the proper place please delete it and let me know that it is not the appropriate venue.
    I need some help with Print Layout Designer.  I am running 2005A SP01, and my customer wants a modification to the Sales Backorder Report.  They want to add the column "In Stock" to both the report as displayed on the screen and the printed document.  The report rendered to the screen has the In Stock, but it is not checked as visible.  I check it and In Stock shows up as designed.  The part I am having problems with is the printed document. I opened the PLD from the Backorder Report, and saved it under a different name.  I resized some of the columns in the repetitive area (header and data) to make room for the In Stock column.  I CAN add the text field Instock as free text and enter "In Stock" as the content.  I looked at the "backorder" column in the PLD, and it is a text field with the source System Variable and the variable is 109.  I would assume that all I need to do in my added column is to set the source to System Variable and enter the variable number.  That is the problem; I can't find the variable number for that column.  I looked on the report rendered to the screen with system information on and the variable is "3 #000027825,OnHand".  I looked at the Back Order column of the report rendered to the screen and the variable is "3 #000028725,OpenCreQty".  I found a spreadsheet that is supposed to contain a list of system variables for 2007A, but the document type for this report is BRDR and that document type does not appear in the list of document types in that spreadsheet.  I looked for a similar spreadsheet for 2005A SP01 but didn't find one.  I DID find a document "How To Customize Printing Templates with the Print Layout Designer".  According to that document, I should be able to get the system variable from the report rendered to the screen with System Information turned on.  Can anyone help?

    I haven't dealt with this before so I can't be certain, but here are my thoughts.
    The Backordered Qty is probably a calculated field, so that's why it's a system variable. The In Stock is a defined field, so you probably can use the file and field number, OITM, OnHand. I would look at maybe the stock number or description to see how those are setup on the form instead of the backordered qty field.

  • Need some help with printing Templates

    Hi All,
         So I was hoping for a bit of help. I am currently doing all illustrator work for my new job. I have not been on the program in a long time and the version I am using is CS4. I have been creating brochures and flyers all A4 size and i have hit a bump in the road. I need a 6pp A4 Z folded (Inside) and 6pp A4 Z folded (outside) template. I Have been using the A3 folded to A4 guides to great affect for a two page brochure. But i cannot for the life of me find a template guides for 6pp A4 brochure.
    This was the best i could do, its a pdf but I prefer working with the guides. I have just been downloading the previous templates from commercial printing websites. I found one that was right but not compatible with CS4.
    Any help with finding one or any ideas on a path to take would be greatly appreciated.

    Why don't you just setup the file you need?

    Thanks for helping me out. I have some questions regarding my setup and acquiring new gear. Currently, I have a the following setup:
    IMac - newer model
    Logic Pro 9
    Numark tt-usb turntable
    Stanton DJ mixer
    Pair of Yamaha HS80 monitors
    MPD 24
    I would like to add a keyboard controller (I'm thinking of the new Korg Microsampler). Basically, I'm willing to get the microsampler as long as it can Fully function like a controller, which can control logic synths & plug-ins(axiom, mpk, etc.) and as well as it's own features. Furthermore, I would like to to be able to record from my turntable to logic and into the microsampler. I understand I would need an interface. Would I still need the mixer? Would the M-Audio Firewire Solo work with my setup?
    Would a control surface take place of an Interface?
    I am possibly interested in getting a control surface that works good within logic. I was looking at the Euphonix MC Control, it seems to work great with logic. Is there an cheaper alternative? Also, I would like it to be user friendly, I am new to this.
    Essentially, I want everything to work simple & smoothly. I like to make sample based music from records. Can you give me a rundown of the necessary items I'm going to need...cables, interface, etc.

    I use a Alesis multimix FW and a presonus inspire.
    I would guess that you should always get dry sound from any output with firewire plugged in or not. My inspire uses a software control panel to route signal and the Multimix is all hardware. I have no clue how to route signal with the firebox but it has to be one or the other. Presonus is pretty good with updates and bug fixes did you check for new drivers?

    jeez, never thought i'd be asking a question like this after playing for like 20 years, but i need some help with a guitar setup for mac. i'm gonna list out a lot of crap here that prolly doesn't affect anything at all, but here goes.
    Imac 17inch G4 - latest updated OS X... 10.4, or 5, or whatever. garageband 3.0
    digitech gnx-3
    alesis sr-16
    sure mic's
    yamaha e203 keyboard
    here's the setup:
    yamaha is on its own on a usb uno midi interface, sure's connected to gnx's xlr port, alesis connected to gnx's jam-a-long input, '87 kramer vanguard connected to gnx's guitar input. currently running headphones out on gnx to line in on mac.
    here's the problem:
    everything works beautifully, but my guitar sounds like crap. if i plug headphones into the gnx, it sounds beautiful. that makes me think its some kind of level issue between the gnx's output, and the mac's input, but nothing seems to fix it.
    by sounding like crap, i mean way too much bass. sound is muddy, blurry, not crisp... aka crap. i've tried altering both output and input on mac and gnx, and i cant get a combination that works. the gnx has a s/pdif out, can the mac accept that as input? might that help? short of running the gnx to my marshal half stack and mic'ing that, anyone have any suggestions, or use a similar setup?
    any help would be greatly appreciated!

    anyone? ... any suggestions? I think it might be an issue with the gnx pre-amping the signal as it goes out, and then the mac amping it on the way in, giving me a buttload more signal than i need, but since i cant find a happy level, i'm not really sure. i really dont want to resort to mic'ing my marshall... even with the volume almost off, my jcm900 is WAY too loud for apartment use. its not like i really NEED the guitar to sound perfect, i only use garageband to sketch out ideas for songs between myself and bandmates, but its really annoying to not have my customary crisp distortion. my bass player keeps telling me to use the built in amps, but, not to dis a practically free program, but the built in amps blow, at least after 10 years of marshall tube amplification they do. if anyone has any suggestions that might be helpfull on how i might resolve this, i would be your best friend for life and go to all your birthday parties

  • HELP  with printer problems...

    Have just reinstalled printer drivers and I do not have the folder PRINT CENTER in my utilities folder. Not sure why. Only the PRINTER SETUP UTILITY folder is there. My problem is that I cannot access the printer dialogue box that has pulldown menu for paper specs, so cannot print as needed. My printer is Epson Stylus 1280. Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated.. troubleshooting all day to no avail..
    G4 PPC   Mac OS X (10.4.8)  

    OK. Did that. But I cannot access the pull down menu that enables me to choose the type of paper. Both quark and photoshop heve that box but its not coming up on this computer. (It does on my other OS9 computer)

    Copy created in InDesign and printed to Adobe PDF is OK on screen but printing hard copy with random chunks of text missing. Same on both my printers, doesn't happen with doPDF. Any ideas? Thanks

    I suspect that what you are asking is simply to print to a new PDF with print as image selected. You can also save as an image file and then open the images as a new PDF.

  • Help with color setup, pictures printing dark, display looks great

    Ok, first let me say I am completely new to Mac, so some of this may sound incredibly stupid but I really need some direction as to how to solve a color issue. Please bare with me as I describe what is probably a most simple fix to those of you with knowledge.
    My issue is that I have great display, the pictures, (some taken with a Nikon D100 and D200 in raw format) look wonderful on screen and then, I print.... and for lack of a better description, they appear darker and less "colorful".
    The printer is an Epson Photo R1800 which did a wonderful job while on my windows box (using photo shop elements). I had the problem before and after leopard so not an os issue.
    I have looked around a bit and found information regarding calibration, icc profiles, etc... and have downloaded the icc profiles from the Epson website. I guess my frustration is that I expected this to be more straight forward as I did nothing but install drivers on the windows box and the pictures printed as they looked on screen, which is my ultimate goal since I am not a pro.
    I guess I cannot understand the need to buy another piece of equipment to calibrate a display just to print family photos and it just doesn't make sense to me that the display, which is truly a great picture, needs to be dulled down to match what the printer is putting out. This appears to me to be more of a printer output or driver issue than the display being incorrect.
    Sorry for the rant, it is one of frustration and admitted ignorance.
    Would much appreciate any help.

    What is (probably) happening is that the output to the display is boosting the picture to "look great" whereas what you actually need to do is have a neutral display and then adjust the picture to make it look good on that neutral display.
    That's why you need to calibrate the display if you want accuracy when you print.
    You may also require the output profiles for your printer, so that when the picture is printed the printer driver makes the correct mapping to the inks and paper.
    There's been some other colour management threads recently - search for those and follow the links to some good articles that will explain all you need to know about colo(u)r management. It's very, very, important to get this right when you are printing for yourself, or even when you are sending the image off to a good lab to print.

    I use an Epson 2880 and I am trying to figure out the print settings for doing an 11 x 34in panorama print on 13" roll paper from Aperture 3.0.3. I finally got it to do one print properly, but the setup was totally counter intuitive and I can't reproduce it. I tried using "Custom" Paper size and setting it to 13" x 36", then using the landscape mode and setting the Image Size to 11 x 34". Any way I did this ended up with the image printing the wrong way on the paper. So I went back and picked "Roll" paper. This leaves only one field to fill in, which I presume is the paper width (it really didn't make this obvious in the dialogue.). Then I set the mode to Portrait, and made sure that the settings for the Image size were 11 x 34. It then printed fine. But when I went back to print another file, even though I had saved the settings, now I am presented with only one box for specifying the Image Size and there is no way to get it right again. HELP! The settings for this kind of print in Photoshop is also counterintuitive, but when you get it set right, and you know the settings, no problem reproducing it. I think maybe there is a bug in AP3 with regard to this sort of setup.

    I`m really frustrated... I never thought that installing printer can be such a paint in the rear...
    Ok, now back to the point:
    I`m trying to set up my Deskjet 930c on 32 bit Arch through usb. I did everything that Wiki says: installed
    cups ghostscript gsfonts hplip and net-snmp
    I loaded the module
    modprobe usblp
    and i see the  that the printer is connected alright

    I added the cups and usblp to rc.conf to make sure it is being loaded on startup. I rebooted, and then opened http://localhost:631 in firefox. It allows me to setup the printer, but when it comes to printing the test page, adding users or removing printers i get a Firefox message:
    Port Restricted for Security Reasons
    This address uses a network port which is normally used for purposes other than Web browsing. Firefox has canceled the request for your protection.
    The requested address specified a port (e.g. "mozilla.org:80" for port 80 on mozilla.org) normally used for purposes other than Web browsing. The browser has canceled the request for your protection and security.
    When i run gnome-cups-manager i see an error in terminal:
    ** (gnome-cups-manager:13143): WARNING **: IPP request failed with status 1030
    , and when trying to print a test page i get an error:
    Ready: /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip-hplip failed
    So i`ve ran
    hp-setup
    and setup my printer. I can than print a test page.
    But when it comes to printing by a usual user, the "print" button in all applications is grayed out/inactive.
    Also hp-toolbox is segfaulting all the time...
    Also, running a system-config-printer says:
    There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'server-error-service-unavailable'.
    The funny thing is... The only way to print something is to print it to a .pdf file first, and than printing that file.
    Any help, please?...

    omg! huge thanks, that completely solved my problem... i wasn`t actually concentrating on the firefox error, more on the cups errors that followed... thanks again!
