HH4 homeplug issue

hi,
I had my hh4 installed today.  everything has to run off wifi because of the location of my master bt socket.
my pc and laptop connect fine wirelessly, but as soon as i plug in my homeplug (delovo dLan 500 duo) the wifi disappears?
The homeplug is supposed to enable both my xbox 360 and Humax youview box to connect, but I can't find a way to get the homeplugged connection to work at the same time as the wifi.  seems I can only have one or the other.
Any suggestions please?

I presume you have two homeplugs.
Turn on the one that is connected to the homehub while the other one is turned off. Does the wireless signal drop out?
If not then turn on the other one. Does the signal now drop out?
If yes then swap the homeplugs over ie. plug the second one into the homehub and the one which was in the homehub connect to your device and repeat the process. Does the signal drop out again when the same homeplug is switched on?
If when you switch the first one that is connected to the homehub on and the signal drops out, swap them over as above. This should help in trying to establish if one is faulty.
It would be easier if you had another home plug to swap one out at a time but as I presume you don't this is the only way I can think of to try and check them.
I should have added that I know they are working via Ethernet but it is to try and establish if they are causing interference that is causing your wireless to drop out.

  • Powerline/Homeplug Issues with Homehub 5

    Hello all,
Having an intensely annoying intermittent issue with Powerline adapters & HH5.
    Set up is:
BT Broadband Extender flex connected to HH5 upstairs with a BT Wifi Home Hotspot downstairs (just to increase wifi coverage)
TP Link TL-PA211 Powerline adapter also connected to HH5 upstairs with 2 other TL-PA211s downstairs (1 for Sky demand & 1 for PS3...different rooms)
They have all worked at same time!......but
Intermittently - the PS3 TL-PA211 will stop working & then "re-connect" of its own doing later & the Wifi Hotspot will stop working (no data light either upstairs or downstairs) & then spring into life of its own accord eg. last night it did it overnight!
I have done no end of pairing & unpairing ritruals & full resets to the point where I think I might need a new stair carpet.
I'm now beginning to think there might be an issue with the homehub?
I'm aware of its "smart" capabilities & switching etc.......is there any setting that I need to look at or a re-boot or refresh or anything?
    Thanks in advance all!

    Would agree with gk406.
Firstly - leave the hub alone.
When you set up a home network system, despite 'out of the box solutions' coming with two adaptors, one to wire via ethernet to the router and another to position wherever, if you connect both systems directly to the router it can cause compatability issues, as both will fight for control of the 'satellite' adaptors to the point they don't know which one to communicate through, so they end up not doing anything. I am guessing the odd disconnections/reconnections is due to Sky taking control of the system - checking for updates etc in the middle of the night, then relinquishing control once having carried out its checks so the other device can reconnect...
Pick one system to use (shouldn't really matter if both 200mb or 500mb systems- though I have a mixture of both so have the 500mb adaptor plugged into the router) though I am thinking the TP Link as they are the most prevalent in your system, and unplug the other. Connect one device (of the chosen system) via ethernet to the router, connect its paired mates and ensure all works as advertised and the boxes you have connected to it can get online. I would check the Skybox under its own settings to confirm it is connected - they can sometime refuse to connect and need to be powered down and back up to let them see the network.  You could also take a note of its IP address to make sure you can see it on the network, then trial download something from On Demand to verify all is OK. If TP Link comes with any software to monitor the adaptors make sure all is up and running.  I guess at this point you could leave the BT system off, to make sure you don't get any odd disconnections overnight.
Once that is verified, connect only one of the other BT devices and check it connects up to the network, and that you can connect to it.
For this step, to save both your legs and carpet, I suggest you do this upstairs next to your router. I tend to get all my powerline adaptors in one room with the router and a laptop, then set them up on a power brick - purely to make sure they all connect to the network and that I can connect to them using the laptop - THEN distribute them around the house, verifying each one in turn connects OK before I move to the next.
Obviously you could do this the other way around, by plugging the BT adaptor into the router and your BT hotspot adaptor downstairs, then just using the two TP adaptors for your sky and PS3 - there shouldn't be any reason for it not too work.
Hope that helps - apologies for length!

  • Hub 4 problems

I have a BT Home Hub purchased from BT when they became available. Now on infinity.
It used to hold it's connection for 10 or 12 days before resetting itself.
    Now it's every 24Hrs.
Have now gone back to my Home Hub 3, seems okay now.
Could this Hub 4 be faulty? and what do I do now?

I guess its wireless problems you are having? This seems to be a common complaint with the HH4, if you look on this board, especially this thread.

  • HH4 issues

After 4 years of no trouble i find myself having hub issues after moving home. My HH4 constantly keeps loosing connection to the net and i have to keep changing channels on it or reseting it. The blue light goes to orange then takes about 5 mins to go back to blue. i always know when this is going to happen as my page loading always slows down to a near standstill or the pages just "time out". THe help desk are no good, I'm constantly phoning up only to get some guy in India reading from a script.  "reset hub, change channels, try a different filter". the last guy i spoke to said there was an issue with the phone line and that they would contact me the following day to see if my hub was any better. Because i couldn't take the call the following day, i do have a life outside of the internet, the case was closed as sorted. This is clearly not the case.
BT. JUST SORT OUT MY FRICKIN PROBLEM PLEASE!!!!!

    Hi ricky599,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting, I'm sorry to see you're having issues with your connection.
Please can you go to the hub manager http://bthomehub.home click troubleshooting then helpdesk and post the lines 1-12?
Also does the connection drop on both wireless and wired connections?

  • HH4 vs Nexus 4 - 2.4GHz Wifi Issue

Has anyone else encountered this issue?
I can connect to the 2.4GHz wifi network and all will be fine for quite some time. Then there will come a day that I get home, turn back on the wifi on my phone and it'll continuously try to connect to the wifi but will keep failing (and repeat). If I reboot the HH4 then all will be OK ... until the next time (a few weeks).
I get no such issue when connecting to the 5GHz wifi (I have the 2.4 and 5 frequencies with separate SSIDs).
Not a show-stopper, since I have a workaround. But any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Home Server Issues and HH4

    Hi All,
I have a home server running windows server 2012 essentials and i'm having issues trying to setup the access anywhere remote web access. Everytime i run the installation wizard i get the follwing errors.
I have given my server a static ip address outside the dhcp range, setup port-forwarding and enabled the relevant ports (80,443,4125) in the firewall but still having no luck.
I'm also using a microsoft personalized domain to set this up.
Has anyone else had problems with setting this through a BT Home Hub 4?
Or does anyone know a workaround for this? I know from reading other posts that the portfowrding on HH4 isn't that great. But surely there's a way round it!
Hope to hear back from someone soon.
    Cheers,
    Dave

For some reason server 2012 essesntials does not work on bt home hubs! some other forums ive read people have got it to work, i've followed exactly what they have done and doesnt want to work for me  Ive replaced the router and still the same issue. BT hubs are disappointing for port forwarding.

  • HH4 flashing bar issue

Just recieved an upgrade from HH2 to HH4. No change in connection as I live outside Infinity catchment area. So should be as easy as swapping HH2 for HH4, no waiting for account activation as nothing but the HH has changed.
    Sadly not.
I swapped out to the HH4 and just get a flashing orange bar, if I disconnect the phone line then I get a flashing B as per normal. Reconnect the line and all i get is the flashing bar. I know that this error shows that 'There is a problem somewhere', nice and vague
I've swapped back to HH2 and everything works fine, im using the HH2 to write this. I've tried power cycling, reset to factory, changing filters, attatching to Master. Nothing appears to work.
Any ideas on what this might be?
    Cheers,

  • Wireless Homeplugs or WiFi extender?

Hi, I want to improve the Wifi range in my home. Would I be best off with Wireless Homeplugs or a WiFi extender? It'd be mainly for connecting our Android devices in rooms lacking a decent Wifi signal....I have no knowledge of either (didn't know they existed untill I'd seen them mentioned on this site). Don't need anything too extravagent as its only for internet surfing, a bit of YouTube streaming on our tablets/mobiles.
I'm on Infinity 80/20 with HH4 if that would make a difference
    Thanks

There are a number of options on these pages.
    Wireless connection problems
Network connection problems and possible solutions
I think that the roaming issue has been fixed with the HH4, so an additional wireless access point, or Powerline wifi devices should work fine.

  • Unable to forward ports on HH4

    Hi all,
Had Infinity 2 installed a couple of weeks ago, and I am finding it impossible to forward ports on the HH4. I have tried every which way but with no luck so, to make things easier to explain, have just factory reset my router and have done the following:
(The PC I am trying to forward to has the static IP of 192.168.0.10, and the port I need to forward is 4040)
Changed hub IP to 192.168.0.1 (my network is set up for this IP, have also tried on original IP with no success)
    Changed DHCP range to 192.168.0.64 - 192.168.0.253
    Disabled uPNP
Set up a new application 'Subsonic' to forward both protocols in the range 4040-4040, to translate to 4040-4040
Assigned this application to device of static IP 192.168.0.10
    Apply settings.
... And nothing! Port still closed. Have I missed anything?
This is a major issue for me at the moment, somebody please help!
(Oops, forgot to add - Firewall and antivirus are both off on the PC)

Tried 192.168.0.58, 192.168.0.60 and 192.168.0.200 (after adjusting the DHCP assign to 192.168.0.66-192.168.0.100)
No luck on any of them - Just get this as usual....

  • Internet connection drops with new HH4....

I recently signed up to a new deal with BT and had to pay for my HH4. I have it all connected up the exact same way as my HH3. I am receiving a faster connection now but am now getting VERY frequent internet connection drops....
My PC is wired to the HH so NOT a wireless issue. I have checked ALL my microfilters and seem to be working. Nothing within my home has changed apart from the homehub. I used to be connectiong at around 6.5Mb, I am now connecting between 7.5 and 8Mb....
9 times out of 10 the connection drops when I receive an incoming call.... but not always. I can make outgoing calls with ZERO issues....

    Shand359tbe wrote:
I forgot to state also that I since removed the HH4 and put my old trusty HH3 back into use......... it does the EXACT same thing now.........
BT engineer was out to fix the line in February of this year. A new main box was fitted (which I was billed for) and he also fitted an iplate to the box to allow the hub to be connected without the need for a filter since they are built in.......
an Iplate will not do away with any filters and they will be required on all sockets - unless you mean a filtered faceplate not iplate - 2 sockets 1 adls and 1 phone

  • Horribly, and Totally Annoying Wi-Fi issue with Ne...

    Hi Everyone,
    First post, so be gentle.
OK, we have BT Infinity, and wire (Lan) connected no problems, and never had a wired problem.
The problem is with the WI-FI. The BTHome hub we have is the 'curved' black one (model 2 I think).
Here's the annoying (seriously annoying if I am honest) problem:
When our WI-FI connected devices are on, and working they are fine (iPad, smart TV, laptop, phones, computer, etc), BUT as soon as our neighbours put their WI-FI on, our WI-FI IMMEDIATELY drops out, and becomes unstable to the point of not being able to connect. There is one neighvour in particular who is using TalkTalk (it shows up on available WI-FI's to connect to on iPad) and when he is online, we simply cannot get a stable WI-FI connection.
    Example of Problem:
If we are using our WI-FI enabled device, lets say an iPad for example, and if we suddenly stop being able to connect to the internet, I KNOW it is because our neighbour has just logged onto their internet (I check this also, as the iPad, as do most devices show all available WI-FI connections).
What we have tried to fix this problem:
Now, you first thing you would probably pre-empt it "Change the channels as your neighbour is probably using the same channel".
This does not fix the issue. I have tried all channels, restarting devices, rebooting the HomeHub (even though I should not have to), and NOTHING fixes this issue, not until our neighbour logs off from his internet; then we can use ours again. How totally crazy is that?!
The fact is, if our neighbour has his WI-FI on, then our's becomes totally useless, and it seems there is not a thing we can do about it. We have tried everything, and nothing seems to help.
Have you fine people heard of this issue before, or can you please offer any advice? As we are seriously considering switching from BT due to this issue, and their tech help (BT/India) have been 100% useless on this matter.
All the BT tech support will say is "Change channel, change channel, check device, check device", and other such insults to my intelligence, when I have already told them I have checked them.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Regards
    Steven
PS - I cannot use inssider3, as I am using windows XP and it does not support it, but I have changed every single channel with the same result.

If you have a HH2 it only works on 2.4 Ghz it might be worth "upgrading" to a HH4 or some other router that uses 5Ghz if your neighbour is not using 5Ghz you should be able to use your Wi-Fi without interference.
5Ghz has advantages of speed over range however it is all very well having a 5Ghz router if you have nothing that will receive 5Ghz. I have at least 10 Wi-Fi devices in occasional use only an ipad 2 can operate on 5Ghz or actually it can't it can see 5Ghz and log on but then it just sits their and does nothing except trying to download. It is actually faulty as I  borrowed one of the latest ipads and it worked well.
it would be interesting to know how many people have anything other than a phone or ipad that works on 5Ghz I know you can get dongles but that is something else to stick out of a usb port and break off.

  • Homeplug connection

    Hello
I have recently purchased a HP LaserJet 200 color MFP M276n and wanted to print to it wirelessly using a homeplug but cannot get it to connect to the network.
The orange light on the back of the printer next to the network cable is permanently on and the green light flashes one every 20 seconds or so. I have tried using all the tools on the HP help pages and cannot do half of the things it suggests as I cannot get access to the printer settings via the web address via internet explorer?
Everything else within the house works fine from the other homeplugs but all the other devices have asked for the router password to access iton initial set up but this printer does not seem to have that facility.
Any suggestions appreciated but keep it simple as I am not the best at this sort of thing but I normally manage to get by but this is the most challenging thing yet!

    Hi @excaliber99,
I see by your post that you are unable to network the printer. I can help you.
I am not familiar with the Homeplugs, I looked it up though. If you have Mac filtering setup on this network, you would have to add the printer's Mac address. You can get this information from the Configuration report.
    Printing a Configuration Report.
You would need a router to properly network the printer. The router assigns the IP address to the printer.
Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network.
Your best bet, is to connect the printer directly to the computer by a USB cable.
    Have a nice day!

  • What is the actual solution to HomePlug + Infinity...

I had the Infinity service installed on Friday past 28th Oct and thought all was well!
Well it was untill I tried connecting my PC / PS3 / XBOX etc through the Solwise homeplugs NET-PL-200AV-PEW-N I'm using.
At the HH3 on a direct connection via cat5 I'm getting 28552 kbps down and 1626 kbps up.
Line stats via bt speedtester show line profile 31359 up and 2000 down.
Problem is that connecting through the homeplugs I'm only getting 3462 kbps down and 1684 kbps up
Now I've spent the last few nights googling forums etc in search of a solution yet I have been unable to find anyone who has figured it out, and has given up dumping the homeplug route for a wired setup!
TBH I have no intention unless as a last resort of putting in Cat wiring
Basically I'm starting to wonder is the issue caused by the HH3/BT Modem setup? "or" is the issue with the homeplugs?
Testing the homeplugs with the revelant software shows a connection speed between homeplugs of between 120 - 150 Mbps suggesting to me that isn't where the restriction is present?
I'm trying to figure out would buying a decent VDSL model like the Draytek Vigor 2750n connecting to the homeplugs solve it or are homeplugs really the issue?
ps. I've tried every suggestion I have come across so far.....moving the power supplies away from the modem/hh3 and the homeplug, turning off the wireless on the hh...
Surley there is a solution to this ?
edit: to add my HH3/Modem is not in the same room as any of the things I am connecting, I'm using a Solwise NET-PL-200-AV-PUSH beside the BT setup to distribute the connection around the house to 3 Solwise homeplugs NET-PL-200AV-PEW-N
And as well as the above I just cannot seem to get my iPhone4 to connect wireless to the HH3 entering the correct password just results in an error message saying "unable to join the network BTHub3-####
I have all the Solwise plugs and the HH3 broadcasting on Channel6

People seem ok on the 200Mbps see msg. #12 in THIS THREAD.

  • HH3 Issues and BT's lack of help

    Hi all,
I have had Infinity 2 installed since May and so had no issues to begin with as my house was recently Cat5E wired up in all the rooms so have had no reason to use the wireless aspect aside from mobile phones etc. However, I recently installed a computer in a temporary location without access to Cat5E cables so used the wireless connection.
Since doing that ive noticed the performace of the HH3 to be exceptionally poor, and have noticed regular drop outs/slow down which appear to be completely random and sometimes will require a restart of the HH3. It does appear that anything is wrong as no error lights etc on the HH but just no internet although I remain connected to the HH itself. Sometimes the connection will come back in a couple of seconds as though the signal was interrupted briefly.
Ive complained and gone through the usual channels and was sent a replacement HH3 which is showing the same issues which leads me to believe the problem lies with the design of the HH3 itself. BT 'customer care' have tried telling me the problem lies with my computer, with the fact my HH3 is above the computer and not below as apparently this is how it was designed, because the problem is with the servers of the websites I visit etc etc. Basically any reason other than admitting the problem lies with a product that is not fit for purpose.
I have explained that I know a thing or two about networking and so have tried multiple computers, usb adapters, HH configurations etc and the problem continues with the cause seeming to be the HH3. The advisor I spoke to apparently spoke with their engineers and explained that as windows does not appear to display a connectivity error message, the problem must lie with me and not them and although he suggested a HH4 might be worth a try, but I have to pay £110 for this! Apparently spending £41 a month just for an internet service and phone line isnt enough and I should have to either stump up the extra money or put up with a poor service as wireless problems 'arent our responsibility'. Ive also explained that the problems do not happen over wired connection and therefore cant possibly be due to website servers.
Just wondering whether anyone on here experiences similar issues with the HH3 and whether they have upgraded to the HH4 or HH5 and the situation improved as it appears I need to prove the HH3 isnt fit for purpose. Any advice would be appreciated before I have to take this further as I refuse to pay £41 per month for another year for this kind of service.
    Thanks in advance.

There are many reports on this forum of the HH3 having poor wireless signal. Some of the things that have helped are
    1) A factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds. If you have changed either the SSid or wireless key of the homehub this will put it back to the one on the label.
    2) Download, install and run inSSider. It will show you the wireless channels and which one your Homehub is on. You want to find the channel with the strongest, least congestion, ie. least number of users. Once you have that you need to change your homehub onto that channel.
    See link for insider
    http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/
See link how to change channel on homehub
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14094
If these don't help you could always report the homehub as faulty because "it does not  broadcast any wireless signal". They might then replace it but it would probably be with anothet HH3.
If you were going to the expense of changing the homehub I would recommend that you have a look at 3rd party routers. There are many good one on the market for less than the quoted price you have been given by BT.

  • Self-assigned IP address issue after upgrade

I do a lot of file transferring from my mac to another pc laptop, so I've got them hooked together with an ethernet cable.  I had this issue in the past, where I'd try to connect but my network settings kept saying the "ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect".  The solution I found to fixing this was to open up the Advanced Settings, and change the IPv6 configuration to "Link-local only" and then everything would work perfectly.
I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday, however, and now that solution no longer works.  Still getting self-assigned IP.  How can I fix this??

I took the following from the Aztech website:
    8) Can Aztech HomePlugs work with Apple MACs?
Yes they can, Aztech HomePlugs work with Apple MACs. However, there is a requirement for using the Utility software. The Utility software will only run on Microsoft Windows 98SE / ME/ 2000/ XP/ Vista.
Which contradicts itself, if the Utility is required but only runs on Windows, how does that work on a Mac?
