Hi, i am using ipad for some dental apps from itunes like Biohorizons but my Biohorizons app doesnt open up on my ipad recently, soon after i click the app it opens n shuts down by itself, the only reason i am using ipad is patient education.  help n

HI, please help me use itune App on my ipad, Biohorizins doesnt run on my ipad. Please help

If the iPad is an older model or one of smaller capacity, try fully unloading it before running the app as a test.
Double-tap Home so the list of loaded apps shows up, then terminate all by swiping upwards on each. This does NOT erase anything. Tap Home to finish when the only item left is the home screen. Then do a force-restart by holding down Home and Sleep simultaneously until the screen goes dark and the white Apple logo appears, then wait till it finishes starting up.

My Mac Book Pro 2010 is repeatedly shutting down whilst I'm using iPhoto mainly. It also happens with other apps occasionally and when it does I get this error message: 4MEM/61/40000000: Oxa4d73598 or something similar.

  • Soon after start up, black screen saying "You must shut down"

Too often, soon after start up, I get a black screen with the stating that I must shut down the machine. Also, and perhaps related, the fan will rev up more than seems needed. I believe I saw new of a download to fix the above type problems with mac laptops, but I am having it with my imac desktop. Any suggestions?

When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices except your monitor, kbd & mouse. Do you experience the same problems?

Please help I really want Siri

As clearly stated on the Apple website, Siri is NOT available on the iPhone 4. iOS 6 does NOT install Siri on that model.  If you want Siri on abn iPhone, you need to upgrade to the iPhone 4S or 5.

  • Macbook shutting down by itself, and very hot when being used

    Hello!
My 2009 Macbook has me worried. When I put it in sleep mode and plug it in, it shuts down by itself at some point, so every time I go to use it again, I have to turn it on as though I had initially shut it down. Also, the bottom of my laptop is very hot.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? I am so grateful for your input!

  • I've read similar questions and answers, but I am still terrified to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard. The only reason I want to is because I received an iPad which requires an updated system. I have an external hard drive. I have the disks to upgrade

I've read similar questions and have studied the answers, but I am still terrified to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard on my macbook pro. The only reason for doing it is in order to sync my macbook pro with my iPad. I do have an external drive which automatically backs up every hour. BUT.......I am techno-ignorant as well as techno-paranoid. I have the disks to update to snow leopard but knowing doing so may likely change/alter/lose/obliterate my current set-up, it actually makes me feel sick to think of it.
Years ago when updating via Apple Protection Plan tech support, my screen actually went blank, everything gone! The tech told me not to worry, that "we" would be able to restore things, but several hours later I was still looking at a primitive looking screen that wasn't anything like what I had before. His language was too technical, in that there was an assumption I understood things I had zero understanding of. Example: partition my external drive.
Anyway, living hundreds of miles from an Apple service provider, and no Apple techs in my community, I had to wait for a trip to an Apple Store where one of the wonderful guys at the genius bar spent a ton of time getting things back to normal and actually explaining it enough that I had a vague understanding.
So now I am in the predicament again and won't know what to do after installing the new disks and finding a likely mess or absence of documents etc. on my computer. I don't know how to access the external drive, and even if I did I wouldn't know how to move stuff from that to my computer.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat as you, I've used Mac's since day one and neglected my Windows education and now it has come to haunt me as I have to learn it like a school kid.
Nearly 99% of all businesses and nearly 95% of everyone use Windows, Steve Jobs declared "The desktop wars are over, Microsoft won" a long time ago.
By 2015 tablets are going to be selling to consumers more than traditional computers, your living proof, you got a iPad.
Apple has already discontinued the Xserver, the Xraid, the MacBooks and the 17" Macbook Pro.
Apple has introduced BootCamp in OS X 10.6 and up, this allows a partition and drivers so one can install Windows on a Mac.
    https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Why do you think they named it "BootCamp"
You can't run a older OS X version longterm like you have with 10.5 anymore, Mac's are being targeted for attacks and older OS X versions are dropped for security updates.
In fact your Mac might still be part of the 750,000 Mac strong Flashback botnet or infected.

1-1.5 years is the OS X upgrade cycle. Change everytime like it or not.

So buy a new Mac and upgrade your OS X version whenever Apple shows it in AppStore.

I'm of the maturity and experience that I know a Mac isn't always the best solution for everyone and even Apple doesn't provide the proper hardware, support or features for everyone. Why only store locations in high traffic ritzy areas?
Our SteveJobs fan here is under 18 years old with good eyes, he's not older like we are with bad or failing eyesight.
The new Mac's  have hard to see glossy screens and the type/UI can't be scaled up easily to accomadate our older eyes, however a Windows 7 machine does allow up to 150% scale of the UI, type etc., and also there are anti-glare screen PC's and just about no more anti-glare screen Mac's.
I wrote this User tip in case you have trouble seeing the screen, at least you can scale the web browsing up
Web browsing for hard of seeing users
Apple might still be selling the anti-glare 15" non-retina on their online store, it's the "high resolution/anti-glare model"
But I can get a 17" 1080i HD anti-glare Windows 7 laptop at Sager for a lot more performance and screen size for the price than a Mac.
    https://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=category_browse&selected_cat=2
Screen size is important as the UI and text can be scaled up for easier reading.
Of course you do now have the option of having Windows pre-installed alongside OS X to begin your transition to the dark side.
Just call and they will accomondate, hold the option/alt key at boot time to swtich operating systems.

Windows 7 looks just as good as OS X, the secret is having a good monitor with most PC's come with don't.
Good Luck and I hope I've given you a lot to think about.

  • After 2 weeks my Iphone 4s shuts down by itself and I cannot  turn it on. What can I do. Itunes is telling me to restore the phone but the phone is saying the software isn't available

My Iphone 4s  shut down by itself after a phone call and I cannot turn it on. I took it to istore and they said it was unrespinsive and there is nothing they can do? Anyone has a clue what can be done? When I connect the phone to itunes it indicates that the phone should be restored, however when i try to restore it, it says the "software for this iphone is not currently available" Is there anything I can do other than put this brand new iphone in the grabage?

On computer, at the top of this page is a Tab for iTunes, click it, make sure iTunes is up to date. Also make sure computer Fire Wall and Anti Virus do not interfere with iTunes, turn them OFF to be certain.

  • Macbook Pro shut down by itself at 16%

I was using my month-old Macbook Pro as usual, and it suddenly shut off by itself. It had 16% battery when it happened, and wasn't plugged into the power adapter. I tried to turn it on again by pressing the power button at least 3 times, but nothing happened. So I gave up and tried to use my iPhone to find out what happened, but it suddenly turned on by itself. I heard that the Macbook tends to do a thermal shut-down whenever it's overheated or something (I'm not sure if it's true though) , but I'm still very concerned because I just bought it only a month ago! Here's some information about my battery that I've got from the system profiler:
    Battery information:
      Model Information:
      Serial Number:          W01174C7KD3LA
      Manufacturer:          SMP
      Device Name:          bq20z451
      Pack Lot Code:          0
      PCB Lot Code:          0
      Firmware Version:          201
      Hardware Revision:          000a
      Cell Revision:          165
      Charge Information:
      Charge Remaining (mAh):          1397
      Fully Charged:          No
      Charging:          Yes
      Full Charge Capacity (mAh):          5400
      Health Information:
      Cycle Count:          19
      Condition:          Normal
      Battery Installed:          Yes
      Amperage (mA):          3542
      Voltage (mV):          11881
    Operating system: OS X Lion
Is this normal? I really hope it's nothing serious because this is my first Macbook after so many years of using a PC - I'm enjoying using the Macbook Pro and I don't want any reason to change back to a PC. I'd appreciate if anyone can help me!

    Just an update:
After it shut down by itself a second time, I couldn't even turn my Macbook on for a period of time even when I pressed the power button. After that, the Macbook did start up for about 2 or 3 seconds before shutting down by itself today. However, it was fine when I turned it on today, so it's working as per normal now. I've run some antivirus software, and nothing was found at all.
I hope the additional information will give you guys more idea as to what's happening. I'm glad it's working now but I'm concerned that it will happen again so I really want to resolve it, yeah. Do you think it might be a problem with the new OS?
Thanks for your help so far!

  • Why my 2009 desktop with OS Maverick keep shutting down by itself

Why my 2009 desktop using OS Maverick keep shutting down by itself?

When it shuts down, the screen blanks (more like turns grey, like the color of the background when on the log in screen). It reboots immediately, so at first the problem was presumed to be restarting, not shutting down and powering back on. The computer is usually very warm, and definitely gets hot easily. A test was run determine when the fan would turn on to start cooling the computer by running digits of Pi, and the tester concluded it was too close within the safe temperatures before it would permanently affect the computer. (I believe this was within 5ºF, but I am not 100% sure.) The times when it will turn off and reboot do not seem coorelated with much if anything. It has done this at multiple times, among running varying amounts of programs and for different lengths of time: right after logging into the user, within a minute of after it has turned off and rebooted, within 5 minutes, 10, 30, even 60 minutes of turning off and rebooting, when only running one program such as Firefox, when running various programs such as Firefox, iTunes, Microsoft Word, Sticky Notes....
    Basically, it makes no sense.

  • My iPhone 4 shuts down by itself

I'm one of the few who are still using iPhone 4 , but anyway, I had this problem happened twice already today. The phone shuts down by itself. The screen becomes dead and black. I have to press and hold the wake/sleep button with the Home key at the same time for it to start. It works for a while, but then it happens again. Can anyone help? Appreciate it much.

    Hello there gilcelis99.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting the issue you're describing:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Particularly:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Windows installation interrupted as Equium A300D shuts down by itself

    Dear all,
I have had my Toshiba Equium A300D for 2 years now. During this time, it works normally, occasionally shuts down by itself maye because it was too hot.
Recently, it tried to install updates from Windows but never successful. I left the computer to update for the whole night and it was still 2 out of 12 updates ... all the time so I always had to shut the computer down by pressing the power key.
I was unable to change the setting to update Windows automatically because everytime I tried to do that it froze. Most other commands became nonresponsive even viewing pictures.
It was until my computer was unable to connect to a certain wireless network while other devices can that I decided to reinstall Windows completely. It was installing normally but it got too hot and the computer shuts itself again!!!
I tried to install again and it shut itself down again, but I got into the final stage of set up so when I turned it on again, it was still "finihing the installation may take several mins. lease do not interrupt or shut down the computer". I left it on for several hours but it didnt move to any different stage. Before the computer shuts itself down I think I got to the stage after this.
I tried to press F8 to begin a new installation but it only got into this screen.
    What can I do?
Please help me! Thank you a lot in advance!
I am in Germany at the moment but I live and bought this computer from the UK.

I accidentally threw away my Toshiba box without checking what was inside when I moved out last year and I wasnt sure if there was any disk so I dont have the Toshiba Recovery disk.
I was installing using Toshiba Recovery inside the laptop, not with an external Windows disk.
Can I download it somewhere on the Toshiba website?

  • My mac keeps shutting down by itself

My mac keeps shutting down by itself. Seems to be when I'm trying to edit video on FCPX or when kids are playing a game. Its an older 2009 20" imac 2.66 Ghz Intel core Core 2 Duo running OS X 10.9.4
How can I stop this please? Thanks

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamps of the BOOT_TIME log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
☞ Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.
