You need to perform a DFU Mode Restore of the iPhone with iTunes on computer. You must also have a SIM card of the original Carrier that this iPhone was produced for.

Why does the 'change all' button for file extensions revert the program?

Hi Chaps,
I have a piece of analysis software produce a file with the extension .jdf and I need to open it with a particullar piece of software called Mestrenova to manipulate it. The problem is...jdf is also the extension of the Adobe acrobat job definition file. I can go into the file in snow lepord with 'get info' and change the individual files to default open with Mestrenova BUT as soon as I hit the 'change all' button, ALL .jdf files revert back to Acrobat defualt. It's infuriating and I have no idea how to resolve it without installing 3rd party software, which I'd rather not.
Can anyone help?

Where is the "download all" button for itunes music

So... trying to re download all of my purchased music from my itunes account onto my new iphone 6, however, when i go into itunes store then purchased, the bit where it should have "all music" is gone so i can't go into it and hit the "download all" button, i'm certainly not going to sit there like an idiot one by one pressing the cloud of the hundreds of songs i have on my purchased account. If there is a setting that is preventing it from showing or a different way i can simply and easily download all of my purchased from itunes would be FANTASTIC. Thank you.

not on my phone there isn't, but my sister and i both bought an iphone 6 yesterday and her iphone has the option, mine doesn't, that's why i assumed there was a setting somewhere that allowed it to show. Her phone you go to itunes ap> more> purchased> music> then you get to the bit where it has all of the music, at the top of her phone she has "recently purchased" and "all music" when you go into "all music" it has a download all button!!! with my phone, it has not got the "all music" it only has the "recently purchased" they are both brand new iphone 6 with no data yet on them. I'm confused as to why hers has the function and mine doesn't. There must be a setting somewhere but i've looked and looked and there's nothing. I have lost my tabs for the umpteenth time. Session restore only works if your kids hit the restore button. Otherwise, a new session gets started. FRUSTRATED!!!

Even though I have my settings set to the "correct" settings to hopefully prevent the lost tabs problem, you still have to be careful in order to prevent the loss of tabs. I have lost all my research again and again... If for whatever reason FF gets closed the wrong way, and then the "restore session" button doesn't get clicked when you re-open, and then you happen to open any further tabs, suddenly you can never get back to all your previous tabs.
I have scoured the internet for solutions to this problem, looked for ways to get them back, and ways to prevent this from occurring. I Have set my browser to the recommended settings. I have tried to restore my sessions. I don't understand WHY cannot the tab feature be made easy to save????
I get all these tabs set up... and then, WHAM! suddenly they evaporate, never to be seen again.
love the Tab system. It's visual. It's relatively easy to navigate. I don't forget they are there, and they are effortless to create...unlike bookmarks.
Why in the world can't I give a tab group a name and then have it be permanently available, like a group of bookmarks that I can create and access at will?
Why must it be that I have to search the internet for ways to restore them, and then the recommendations are geared only to computer literate people able to extract them from the bowels of their computer memory in some obscure and confusing procedure?!?
I have looked at and installed numerous add-ons in the hopes of solving this problem and have not found a satisfactory solution. It seems like there are tons of other people out there who wish for this exact same thing, What is the hang-up with this???

Firefox has the ability to bookmark all open tabs, in each window separately. It's not a "session manager", but if it's the same set of tabs you want opened at the same time all the time, you might consider using that feature.<br />
Right-click a tab and select '''Bookmark All Tabs...''' and then give the folder a name. When you want to open all those tabs simply middle-click that folder or right-click that folder and select '''Open All in Tabs'''.

You need to use the right arrow on the remote to go all the way to the right. The submit button will be highlighted and you can then press select on the remote to proceed.

I did this several more times and every time I would hit "verify permissions" I would get the same list. What's up? I've always suspected diagnostic programs, but this is Apple's own!

Ignore them. They aren't errors. You will keep seeing the same ones. As long as you get the message "Permissions repair complete," you're OK.

I use Firefox 6.0.1 on Windows 7.
I installed '''Free Desktop Clock 2.37''' from Drive Software, and then Firefox was hi-jacked, though I carefully chose the custom installaion.
Edit: Free Desktop Clock itself does not hi-jack Firefox. It's another program (name forgotten) bundled with Free Desktop Clock that did it, adding a toolbar, changing the homepage, changing the default search engine, etc. Actually, those forced alterations can be changed back easily, such as a resetting of the "keyword.url" pref. So, "hi-jack" may be a description that's too strong.
Anyway, I have managed to clean it up -- unsolicited toolbar, forced homepage, forced default search engine, etc.
But there is still one problem.
In the dialogue window of '''Manage Search Engine List''', which appears when you click the drop arrow on the left of the Search Bar and then click Manage Search Engines, the '''Restore Defaults''' button is disabled (grayed out).
How can that button be re-enabled?

Is Free Desktop Clock still listed? If not this may be because the listed search engines are the defaults, so there may be nothing to restore. If you manually added other search engines, you may have to reinstall those separately. Any idea what happened to the "Show All " button in my organizer ?

I am still very much a rookie at all of this so please bear with me. I have been working my way through the lessons in the "Photoshop Elements 7 Classroom in a Book" publication, and am on Lesson 3,page 106, step 4, of the "Viewing and Managing Files by Folder Location" feature ,which tells me to........
"Click the Display button and then choose Thumbnail View from the menu. In the Photo Browser,click Show All".......
There is NO "Show All " button option offered on my screen. Any idea where my "Show All " button might be hiding ? I had one awhile back ,but have no idea where it is now ?

More generally, Show All will only show when the Organizer isn't showing all your photos. For example, if you click on a tag to show just the photos with that tag, the Show All button will show up.
Alas, what I said above isn't completely true. There are a number of situations where this rule doesn't hold:
- When you've restricted the photos shown to a date range using Find > Set Date Range.
- When you've restricted which media types to show using View > Media Types.
- When you type text quickly into the search box and hit enter (on a large catalog).

Fatal error on versa mail. unit shuts down when i hit the versa mail button

During deletion of emails from my versa mail account the unit crashed. When I hit the versa mail button now, the unit shuts off. I cannot access my email on the unit.

try erasing all the data to factory specs, but back everything up with a hot sync- This worked with my 755P
After erased/formatted, try versa mail. If it works then create a new user name and export the backed up data to the new username and sync.
I was having the same issues, but my phone was not restarting or crashing. I formatted the phoneto factory specs and it works fine now, I just cannot figure out how to export my favorite buttons to the new user name.
The reason why this may work is a setting in your user name that was tinkered with or messed up. Going to factory defaults is just another way of starting from scratch.

Just restart your computer. Then go to Finder menu and change 'Secure empty trash' to Empty trash.
Unless you work with state secrets you really don't need secure empty trash which takes seven times longer to do its job. Empty trash is fine for all but the afore-mentioned secret files.

No probs until d/l 4. Hit the fit screen button (top left hand drop down menu including) & then problems started. Could not restore screen so as to see usual menu bar. Therefore could not restore a normal view. Could not get back to the default screen. I am unable to access the drop down menu once I have hit the 'fit screen' option. I disabled styles and other options to no effect. Have had to uninstall firefox.

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

When I click on the "import all" button when downloading my photos I get a message that states that the format is unrecognizable. What caused this and how do I change it so I can import my photos?

I am trying to download photos from my digital camera. I have done this many times before with this same camera; however this time when I click the "import all" button I get a message that states that the format is unrecognizable. It doesn't specify what the format is.
What is causing this and how do I correct it? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Make a temporary, backup copy of the library and try the following:
launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
select the options identified in the screenshot.
Click to view full size
Launch iPhoto and try importing again.
