Hide date picker button

Okay, I'm trying something different now. I am working on a different project now, and I saw a pretty cool date picker event that used JavaScript instead of the built in Apex date picker. Here's the code that makes it work:

Now The only way I can get the Apex date picker button to disappear is to set it to a different type of field (text field namely), and it works correctly, except that is defaults the data to this format: DD-MON-YYYY. The system is using MM/DD/YYYY though. If I set the field back to a date picker format, it always displays correctly, but the calendar button still shows up. Is there anyway to just hide that button so that I can leave the format of the field as a date picker?
Thanks
Josh

Never mind. I am an idiot, I found a place lower in the field items that lets me set the format mask. Sorry for the trouble.

• Read only date picker in an updatable query

Dear all,
There is a date picker component in my application. I need to disable data entry or any changes in a known condition. However when I create a dynamic action it only make the text field readonly.
__Please be advised that the date picker is in an up-datable query__ .
It also would be practical if I would be able to hide the javascript date picker button.
regards

Solved my problem by adding the following codes into the datepicker javascript:
if (document.getElementById(dateFieldName).readOnly)
return false;

• Field with date picker

I have a date field (which has a date picker). I have set the default value of that field to sysdate, which is displayed when the form is opened, but when you click on the date picker button the wrong year, eg 1920 is displayed.
Any ideas ?

Check the date format. If the date picker date format is different from the database date format, then you might get this. For example, if your date picker date format is 'YYYY/MM/DD', then, for the default value set it to TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'YYYY/MM/DD').

• Charts appear in front of date picker, help messages, developer buttons

In Apex 4.1, with Internet Explorer, if we have charts on the form, objects like date-pickers, help text, etc. appear behind the chart. They pop up (or drop down) in front of the chart's region, but behind the chart. So if I have a search criteria region at the top, and a chart region below it, if the chart is displayed, and the user clicks on the date picker, then the date picker pops up, but any portion of it that should overlap with the chart itself is hidden behind the chart, so the users cannot click on a date later in the month.
Also, if there is help text provided for an item in the search criteria region, then the help text pop-up box appears partially or completely behind the chart (though in front of the chart's region.
You can also see this with the developer's buttons at the bottom of the screen - they stay in front of the regions, but behind any chart.
Is there a way to fix this?
I can get around the date picker if I choose the Classic Date Picker, but I don't know how to get around the other items.
Thanks!

Maybe it is just because there is no space enough to display both month and year. Is it possible to increase the width of the calendar box ?

How to show and hide Lov icons and Date Picker image on conditional?

Why do you just want to make the icons conditional? Shouldn't the field also be conditional?

Hi Perry,
As far as I know, OOB it's not possible, so you have to rely on some javascript code to do the same for you. You can use JSOM or REST api to get the count of items in list and then use jquery to show/hide the expand/collapse button and remove the onclick
event of Group Name.
Hope it will solve your problem.

• HOWTO: Hide the delete button in a NavigatorBar

HOWTO: Hide the delete button in a NavigatorBar (JSP)
Goal: Hide the delete button in a NavigatorBar or JSNavigatorBar Data Web Bean. This example works for either bean.
Solution: Edit the .jsp file containing your NavigatorBar bean. For a generated BC4J JSP application, the file is YourView_Top.jsp.
Find the code that instantiates the NavigatorBar. It will look something like:
<jsp:useBean class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.NavigatorBar" id="tb" scope="request">
<%
tb.initialize(pageContext, "MyProject1_bizcomp_BizcompModule.MyView");At this point, add the following line of code to hide the delete button:
tb.getButton(tb.NAVIGATE_DELETE).setButtonVisible(false);You can find the variable names for the other navigator buttons in the javadoc for oracle.jbo.html.databeans.BaseNavigatorBar. In the online help, this is under Reference -> Business Components Reference.

Georges,
This has come up before, and after some experimentation, there's not a straightforward way to do it.
There are two possible solutions that I can think of:
1. Write your own custom bean and/or extend the beans provided to modify them to your needs.
2. Wait for the 3.2 release at the end of the month. This release provides custom data tags with much finer grained control over specific items such as the buttons.
I think 2 is preferable, if you have the time to wait.

• Date Picker problem in Apex 3.1

Hi,
I upgraded my apex to 3.1 and found that the date picker icon behaviour become quite strange.
If I set the label of the date picker Horizontal/Vertical Alignment to Above, the picker icon will show below the text box instead of right side. And the pop-up calendar for Date Picker (DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI) also not high enought to show the Close and OK button, I have to manually adjust the pop-up calendar height.
All this problems were not there in 3.01, is these some kind of bug?
Thanks
Vincent

Hello,
Can you put an example of your particular layout on apex.oracle.com. The solution I had worked in most of the case's I tested , obviously yours is different.
The next best solution would be to either shim the items with images, or to specifically set the widths of the containing table cells.
The reason all this is happening is sometimes , depending on the region templates and CSS the regions will collapse down on the content, and the the browsers will do there best to fit the content in the smallest place possible, Unfortunately, in some cases the browsers ignore both nowrap="nowrap" and/or style="white-space:nowrap", why would I want to put nowrap on something and still have it wrap, I don't know it's not me it's the browsers.
The solution in the patch I'm leaning towards is wrap item into a table. As it will work perfectly everywhere , and greatly annoy people that want tableless layouts, but that won't be available till the patch.

• Unable to set default date for Date Picker item using Auto Row Processing

Okay, I have searched through the forum for an answer, and have not found a thing to account for my problem.
First, does anyone know if using Auto Row Processing has problems updating an item/field in a record where the Source is defined as Database Column if the 'Display As' is defined as 'Date Picker (MM/DD/YYYY)'?
I ask this only because I found out the hard way that Auto Row Processing does NOT fetch the value for an item where the field is defined as TIMESTAMP in the database.
My problem is as follows: I have a form that will CREATE a new record, allowing the user to select dates from Date Pickers, text from Select Lists, and entering in text into a Textarea item. The information is saved using a standard (created through the Auto Row Processing wizared) CREATE page level button. After the record is created the user is able to go into it and update the information. At that time, or later, they will click on one of two buttons, 'ACCEPT' or 'DECLINE'. These are Item level buttons, which set the REQUEST value to 'APPLY' (Accept) and 'UPDATE' (Decline). The Accept button executes a Process that changes the Status Code from 'Initiated' to 'Accepted', and sets the Declined_Accepted_Date to SYSDATE, then another Process SAVEs the record. The Declined button runs a Process that changes the Status Code from 'Initiated' to 'Declined', and sets the Declined_Accepted_Date to SYSDATE, then another Process SAVEs the record.
However, even though the Status Code field is updated in the database record in both Accepted and Declined processing, the Declined_Accepted_Date field remains NULL in the database record (by looking at the records via SQL Developer). WHY??? I looked at the Session State values for both the Status Code and the Declined_Accepted_Date fields and saw that the fields (items) had the expected values after the process that SAVEs the record.
The following is the code from the Accept button Page Process Source/Process:
BEGIN
:P205_STATUS_CD := 'A';
:P205_REF_DECLINE_ACCEPT_DT := SYSDATE;
END;
As can be seen, the Status Code and Declined_Accepted_Date items are set one right after the other.
As an aside, just what is the difference between Temporary Session State vs Permanent Session State? And what is the sequence of events to differentiate the two?

Here's yet another thing that I just looked into, further information...
One other difference between the date field I am having problems with (Accepted_Declined_Date), and other dates (with Date Pickers) in the record is that the Accepted_Declined_Date never gets displayed until after it is set with a default date when the Accept and Decline buttons are pressed.
One of the other dates that works, the Received Date, is able to write a default date to the record that is never typed into the box or selected from the calendar. That date is placed into the box via a Post Calculation Computation in the Source, which I set up as: NVL(:P205_REF_RECEIVED_DT,TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'MM/DD/YYYY'))
However, I do remember actually trying this also with the Accepted_Declined_Date, and setting the Post Calculation Computation did not work for the Accept_Decline_Date. Could this be because the Accept_Decline_Date is never rendered until the Status Code is set to Declined (in other words, there is no need to display the date and allow the user to change it until the record is actually declined)???
The control of the displaying (rendering) of the date is set via the Conditions / Condition Type: Value of Item in Expression 1 = Expression 2
Expression 1 = P205_STATUS_CD and Expression 2 = L
Does this shed any light???

• Display in a date picker (calendar)

Hello,
I have a date picker when i press a button, to choose a date from calendar. But some months are displayed with the year too, like November 2009, June 2009, and in this image i uploaded, in case of September only the month is displayed.. i don't know why the year does not appear. And not just in case of September, but December too.
Any help?
Thanks!

• Using Date Picker on form causes session values to be cleared on validation

Got a really weird problem on a form (on a report). We have a basic form which has a date picker on. The form fires a number of bog standard validations when the Create button is clicked (values filled in, values are numbers etc).
When a validation fails, the values inputted by the user are retained. So far so good. However, when the user selects a date, and a validation fails, all the session values are all cleared (not just the date picker) and they have to fill everything in again.
At first we thought there must be a process resetting the page items - nothing. Also recreated the page from scratch and it still doesn't work. Strangely, the problem goes away if we change the date picker to a text field. Also, if the user doesn't select a date, the other session values are retained.
Are we doing something daft here or is this a bug?

Yes - we're using inbuilt validation to ensure it's a valid date. We tried turning this off and it makes no difference, the problem is still there.
We tried changing the date picker to a text field and using the same validation (i.e. check it's a date) and this works fine. This is why we think it might be a bug.

• ADF BC - Date Picker closes Popup

Hi all,
I have a inputDate field inside of a form which is in a popup. When i choose a date from the date picker that comes up, (the one built in to the inputDate field) my popup closes. Is there a way to keep the popup open until a user clicks back on the main page, or clicks the commit button (commit button is inside the form, inside the popup)
Thanks,

Try to place a panelDialog or panelWindow inside your pop up and have the Form inside it.

• Help on Date Picker

Hi All,
Is there any date pciket UI element available . I am not able to see any in type of UI elements avaiable in my NWDS.
Thanks
Supriya.

Hi Friend,
Binding the input field to an attribute of date type will automatically bring in the date picker and the standard validations for that. So, you needn't worry about it. In case you need to have your own date format and your custom validations over it, then I am afraid you would have to bind this input field with a string type attribute and have a dateNavigator UI element as popup on click of a button next to input field to browse for date, but it would unnecessarily be an overhead on performance of the application.
