Hierarchy node selection

Hi Guys,
I have a hierarchy which contains 1000's of nodes.I need to
compare the report data with multi provider data.
I'm dont know how to select the particular node when taknig
selections on multiprovider.But in report level i can select the
particular node.
Can any one through some light here.
Helpful answers will be rewarded with points.

Hi Prasad,
I am not sure if we can directly display the hierarchy in the multiprovider data but try to compare it this way:
Click on the 'Maintain Hierarchies' under the 'hierarchy' tab of the InfoObject for which you are maintaining the hierarchy.
You can find the values for the node in the last node here.
Take these values and give them as selection in the 'display data' of the multiprovider.
Compare the data with the values obtained in the last level(leaf node) of the report.
The higher levels will however store the sum of the lower level values hence check if the sum of the lower level node values is equal to that of the higher node value.

hello all,
I have to create a variable as to where the user ca input the node of hierarchy in his selection at the start. Do we have to create a new variable ?
I have the hierarchy loaded for that infoobject. I tried creating a new variable but the when I select from drop down as varaibles and name of the hierarchy no variables shows up.

Execution of a planning function for a row selection of a hierarchy node

Hi all!
Has anyone accomplished to make a configuration, where a planning function would have been executed for a hierarchy node selection and this selection would have been made by a row selection in an analysis item? I can filter the characteristic in a lowest level by selecting rows in analysis item, but if I would select a hierarchy node, the value for the characteristic is empty. I have set the selection state by binding the item_characteristic of analysis item to filter of the other characteristics.
I tried first to reach this functionality by filtering the characteristic with variables in planning modeller filter and determining the values of the variables during runtime by the selection of the analysis item row selection. But I can not implement it as the display hierachy and the hierarchy node selection in the analysis item are variables and modeller does not allow selection of a hierarchy node and hierarchy by variables - even thoug it let's you do it (I receive error message saying "field hienmflag with value 5 is not correct").
Greatful for any working solutions tips you have made up!

Thanks for the explanation. I come from BPS background and there are few changes when it comes to planning functions in IP. In BPS, the planning function is a bit loosely tied to Planning Package in a sense that a planning function can use any planning package under the planning level to which it belongs. Same is the case in IP (technically), but in BPS the planning package contains all the characteristics and key figures of the planning level and hence the function can execute correctly. What I see in IP is that planning function is very loosely tied to Filter. It can use any filter under the aggregation level even though they differ in the characteristics and key figures. I have tried a PF with different filters and it executes with everyone of them! This doesnu2019t sound right! Am I missing something here?
Also, you can only execute a IP planning function if it is included in a planning sequence. An extra step! The modeling is so intuitive in BPS that IP is a bit repulsive.

Hierarchy node Variable: F4 Help - Not showing Master data values

Hi,
We're having some problems trying to display the F4 help of a hierarchy node selection variable, to show the master data values so that it would look more complete for the users during report execution.
In the RSD1 setting for the info object, under 'Business Explorer' tab, the 'Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn' is set to 'Only Posted Values for Navigation'.
I thot that we could overwrite this setting at the Query Designer level, but it does not seem to work.
Even tho in the Query Designer, we have already specified the 'Filter Value Selection During Query Execution' to 'Values in Master Data Table', it does not seem to display the master data values.
There is no difference in the F4 values being displayed for the hier node variable, before and after the change in Query Designer.
Could anyone share some tips on other possible solutions to get a hier node selection variable's F4 help to show the master data values, without changing the RSD1 setting at the info object level please ?

Could you please share the steps you have taken to fix the problem?
We do have a similar problem and for some reason the newly added hierarchy node for 0Profit_ctr is not showing up in the variable selection screen F4 (input selection for query execution). However we can see this node when we display that hierarchy in RSA1. I did try applying the changes recommened by Jerome but unfortunately it didn't work.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Passing hierarchy node variable in a hyperlink

Hi,
We are on XI 3.1 SP3.
We have a BW summary query with hierarchy active, with hierarchy node variable as "optional" selection variable. Created Universe based on the query and built a WebI report. Have activated "Drill". That way we are able to drill down per the levels. This works fine.
We have another BW detail query with optional hierarchy node selection. Created a universe and a WebI report for the detail report..
When we try to create a hyperlink from the summary WebI report to the detail WebI report in "display" mode, creation of Hyperlink is very intutive. We are able to pass parameters.and the hyperlink works fine.
The only problem occurs when we try to pass the hierarchy node variable value. The value of the hierarchy node gets passed, but the report does not bring over any data,
Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround.
Kindly advice.

Let me explain my scenario. On my report I have the following:
1. Sales Hierarchy (5 level hierarchy)
2. Product Group (Hyperlink created - want to pass Sales Hierarchy node value + Product group to detail report)
3. Key Figure 1
4. Key Figure 2
I have activated drill which allows me to drill down the Sales Hierarchy.
Scenaio A. Pass just the Product Group Key. Success
If I just pass the "Product Group Key", the detail report shows me the data for the specific Product Group as expected. This is a successful test
Scenario B - Pass the Sales Hierarchy Node key and the Product Group Key Fails
In this case, I am passing the "Product Group key" along with the "L00 Sales Hierarchy key". When I click on the hyperlink, it gives me an empty detail report. I know for sure that values exist for all levels. If I run my detail report stand-alone, I am able to get values for all levels.
However if I drill down to the last level in the Sales Hierarchy, the detail report shows correct value. For last level, the Sales Hierarchy Node value gets passed correctly along with the Product Group key.

Selection screen for Hierarchy Node Variable

I Have an issue with Hierarchy Node Variable , in my selection screen the for an info object , Z_ACCT i have a Hierarchy Node Varable it only displays Text on F4 help , i want to desplay both Text and Key , i check in the Info Object bex setting it is set as Text and Key, so if any one can throw some lite on it, it will be of grt help.

BPC Excel: Select hierarchy nodes & exclude an account within

Hello All
u2013 in EVDRE, is there a way to define a column selection for a account hierarchy node, however exclude one of the accounts within this group? THis is simmilar to BEX query, where you can select a hierarchy node and then also select to exclude a member within.
EG From the account hierarchy below, select the hierarchy node u2013 u2018group1u2019 , however exclude account 2.
Account Hierarchy
     Hierarchy - group1
          Account1
          Account2
          Account3
          Account4
I have a couple of different column definitions, so this definition would need to be defined inside the column header area & not in the column member set.

Firstly, thanks for your reply, much appreciated. One of the requirements is to have multiple column definitions in my report. To achieve this, i was planning to define the definitions inside the columns and adjust the colkeyrange to include all column definitions. This would mean that i would not use the column expansion and hence not have access to the suppress function.
Is there a way of including the suppress function in a column definition?
EG Include hierarchy node 'Parent - Group1" and exclude 'Account2'

Campaign creation : selecting a busines partner then hierarchy node

Hello
In MSA 4 SP8, while creating a Campaign, if I first select the Client Type as "Business Partner" then change to "Hierarchy Node", when I save it tells me that the Business Partner field is not correct, though I told it to choose the other option (which was correctly filled).
I believe it is the fact that the BP object persists, how can I force the system to ignore it if I don't need it ? (or, destroy it so it is not even checked)

I am working in 2004s as well (SP11) and I am trying to do the same type of thing.
I have multiple cost center hieriarchies that the user can choose from at run-time using the hierachy variable.
Then once the user chooses to the hierarchy they then should go choose a specific node that they want to run for in that hierarchy using the Cost Center Hierarchy Node variable (using the hierarchy variable, not fixed hierarchy).
When I run this in the web I am allowed to choose one of the multiple cost center hierarchies... this means that the hierarchy variable is working, however when i go to choose the specific cost center node for that hierarchy it uses the defult cost center hierarchy instead of the one selected in the selection screen.
If anyone can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Select key date of time-dependent hierarchy before select a hierarchy node

Hello experts!
I have a Web Application which has a selection on 0ORGUNIT (organizational unit). The selection is on hierarchy nodes and the hierarchy is time-dependent.
Because of the time-dependency I have to give a key date for the hierarchy. But I want to select the key date at runtime/execution of the query and additionally I want to select the hierarchy node and other selection criterias.
Maybe there is a solution to get all this in one pop-up or maybe in two or another solution how I can implement this requirement.

Hey!
You don't have to use the same presentation-hierarchy like the selection-hierarchy is which you use for the variable. While presentation-hierarchy always has a key-date, the selection-hierarchy has none. So you see all values for selection but just this which are valid for the presentation-hierarchy are selected. And there is a warning which you can supress over RSRT.
This solution works for our problem, maybe not for yours, don't know.

Run Time Error when trying to select hierarchy node

the situation is the following:
i attempt to create a variable of type "hierarchy node" (for cost center cha) in my planning area, i used the replacement type "user defined value", check on "input allowed by user" and then i create the user entry, in selection condition i run match code and when i try to select a single cost center (not a hierarchy node) expanding the hierarchy tree the system goes dump with the following message:
Runtime Errors         MESSAGE_TYPE_X
Error analysis

Program is inconsistent -> see long text
Technical information about the message:
Diagnosis:
An inconsistent program status has occurred. The program cannot be continued.
System response:
The system crashes.
Procedure
         1. Look in OSS for a note under the error message UPC099.
         2. When you open a problem message, send the first pages of the
             system crash message including the section 'Source code excerpt
             ' with the message.
     Procedure for System Administration
    Message classe...... "UPC"
    Number.............. 099
Selecting a hierarchy node (not a single cost center but a text node grouping more cost conter) this problem does not occur.

Hierarchy node variable: select multiple values at once

Dear,
We have a hierarchy node variable (Multiple single values, optional) on profit center. If I launch this query in the BEx, it is possible to enter multiple single values in one go. However, on the web, it is required to insert a new row for each extra value the we want to select. However, when selecting a filter value on the web, it is possible to select several values at once (by checking a checkbox).
Is it possible to select several values at once in the selection screen on the web for this variable?

we recently had the same requirement and posted the question at SAP. their reply was : this is not possible. even through the exit it was not possible, due to the logic of the sql select when executing the query, it seems.
concerning the fact if this would be possible in a near future, there was no reply

No applicable data : when selecting hierarchy node on 0GLACCEXT

Hi,
I using the ZCUBE (Copy of virtual cube 0FIGL_V10).
I have data for the 0GLACCEXT hierarchy (standard hierarchy tech name: INT, and also for custom hierarchies)
From the moment we use a selection in the rows on a node within the hierarchy of the financial statement item : 0GLACCEXT, the result is No applicable data.
We are using the standard calculated key figure Balance sheet Value.
If i use the hierarchy (for INT) as a whole, we get data. If i restrict with hierarchy nodes for INT, then 'No Applicable Data'.
for the other custom hierarchies, i'm getting same result, i.e. 'No Applicable Data'.
Can somebody help with this issue.

Find out whethere data exists actually for the nade by executing the data for all the hierarchy nodes and find out whether data is coming when you execute for some other nodes

Hierarchy Node Variables in Selection Screen

Hi Experts!
I have a hierarchy Node variables of InfoObject in BEx. When I execute the report, I choose Hierarchy variables in Selection screen of BEx Web. I see all of attributes of infoObject, I want to reject all of those.
Suppose that: In infoObject 0COSTCENTER has attributes (Controlling Area, BusinessArea, CompanyCode, ProfitCenter u2026.), I donu2019t need to see those attributes of Costcenter when I choose node in Hierarchy variables. I only want to get the CostCenter. Please some advise to solve that issue or how can I do that?

Double click on the info object
then go to the Hierarchy Tab
here u find a button of External Char in hierarchies
Click on this
On right hand side u find some of the attributes of the info object
place them on left hand side
Execute it & activate the Info object.

How to provide a list of Hierarchy-nodes for selections?

Hi specialists,
some of our users often want to use some hierarchy-node-values from one report as filter of a 2nd report.
For all non-hieararhy-values it is possible to do that using the clipboard.
But there seems not to be a way to do the same with hierarchy-nodes.
Is there any workaround to reach that target?
Btw: I'm talking about users using the BEx 3.5 Analyzer.

Drilldown to hierarchy nodes in VC..

I want drilldown functionality in VC..
1. my Query has a hierarchy
2. my VC application has a table attached to this query.
3. In Output the hierarchy nodes are displayed
4. i ve taken a button Drilldown on my table
5. on selection of a node and onclick of button all the hierarchy nodes get expanded(drilled down)
Problem : i do not want all the nodes to get drilled down..only the selected node should get drilled..
Plz help me out for the same...
