High SNR, frequent disconnects and under 15mbit sy...

I had Infinity 1 installed two weeks ago but the performance has been pretty bad.
I have the following problems:
1. I get disconnected at least twice a day and usually once every 2 hours or so.
2. My upload SNR margin seems to be stuck at 18+.
3. Even download SNR margin seems to vary a lot from about 5.8 to 8+.
4. About 25% of the time I sync at under 15mbit, which is meant to be the minimum for Infinity 1.
My current stats are below (they're about the best I've had):
5. VDSL uptime: 0 days, 10:18:11
6. Data rate: 797 / 15871
7. Maximum data rate: 1217 / 16023
8. Noise margin: 18.3 / 5.8
9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 30.9
10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 25.1
Here's an example of how bad the frequent disconnects can be:

07:31:20, 20 Apr. (439518.190000) PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

I had BT Infinity installed at the start of April and it has always disconnected multiple times per day.
Phone support said that "2-3 disconnects a day is normal" which I certainly hope is not true. Regardless, they said they'd monitor our line. Which is all they've been doing for 3 weeks.
Our disconnects are almost certainly related to wind and rain. It will disconnect within minutes of rain starting which suggests an above ground fault.
Some days are sunny with zero disconnects, but most have 2-15 disconnects a day.
Last Saturday a 2 hour long downpour resulted in disconnects every 3-4 minutes making Infinity unusable. Support said they'd continue to monitor our line...
Current stats:
6. Data rate: 797 / 13481
7. Maximum data rate: 1213 / 15585
8. Noise margin: 18.2 / 6.2
9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 30.7
10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 24.9
Download results from the BT speed tester are under the 15mbit minumum. The upload is below even the low impacted estimate.
Download Speed (Mbps): 12.63
Upload Speed (Mpbs): 0.67
Ping Latency(ms): 39.63
What does it take for somebody to actually inspect the line instead of remote monitoring from India?

  • WRT400N Frequent disconnects and now Connection Not even Viewable

We purchased this router looking for the speed and ability to have 2.4 and 5gh at the same time. Have 5 laptops connected but only 2-3 used at a time. 2 dell, 1 Toshiba and 1 vaio. Once I installed it took an hour to get the internet to be recognized and wireless to work. SInce then every time I put the computer on sleep or shut down the internet disconnects. The reconnect was usually fast , maybe 5-ten seconds. However yesterday we started experiencing the internet connection dropping all together and the router/connection not even being recognized on the wireless option in the Network and Sharing section of Windows 7. I have never seen where you can't even click on the connection to diagnose etc. As of this morning there was still no connectivity. I have rebooted the DSL (Brighthouse Cable) modem, rebooted and rest the router numerous times. The internet might show back up for a few seconds, and then drop again. I'm two seconds away from returning this puppy as it's only been a few days since we got it. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Login to the setup page of your Router and below change the MTU size to 1350 and click on save settings, then under the wireless tab change the wireless channel to 1 or 11 and click on save settings. Now again try to connect to your wireless network.

Your profile is ok for your conenction speed. You need a faster conenction to get a higher profile so if your noise margin was reduced to 6db which is normal then that would increase your conenction speed giving higher profile and faster download speed
your current connection speed should be enough to stream to the tv
the mods will post a contact us link and reset noise margin to 6db.
After completing the email NOT PM then you join a queue of other customers waiting for mod help. The mods will get back to you in 3/5 working days either by phone or email

  • Frequent Disconnections

    Hi
Lately for the past couple weeks, my modem is frequently disconnecting and reconnecting and it is driving me nuts. The time it will stay online is random, ranging from a few minutes to a few hours. The re-connecting only takes about 20-30 seconds. It is not a phone service problem because I still have a dial tone even when I got disconnected (though I do hear some noise). Verizon techs has come to my house more than 3 times, each time claiming that the problem will never happen again. The problem would seem fixed for a day or two, but then the disconnections would happen again.
    Please help!
    I have a Westell 6100 modem connected to a Linksys WRT54G v5 router.

    quietstorm57 wrote:
So I found out my modem was not in bridge mode. Thanks for the link. Once I changed my modem to bridge mode, my Linksys router settings started screwing up, but that issue has been resolved once I called Linksys.
Can you explain to me, in detail, how changing my modem to bridge mode solved this problem?
I'll wait a couple more days to see if I lost any connection before checking that this problem has been resolved.
    Thanks!
I am not sure but - if that resolves the issue, my guess are  because the modem is
    #1 buggy
#2 OR - the modem does not have a stable firmware on it. Maybe an update would fix it?

  • Exchange 2013 CU7 - Frequent Outlook 2013 Disconnections and Delays

We currently have the following environment:
Windows 2012 VM on Hyper-V with 24GB of RAM and 4 virtual procs (1 socket)
    Cisco UCS, B200 M3 Blades
    Exchange 2013 CU7
Exchange 2007 is in our environment, but public folders have been removed and only a few stale, unused accounts exist on it.
    Two dual-role CAS/Mailbox servers
Mailbox servers are in a DAG
    MAPI/HTTP is our connection protocol
    .NET Framework 4.5.2
Clients are Outlook 2013 SP1 on Windows 7 and 8.1
(Currently round robin DNS, but we have a hardware load balancer we've temporarily taken out of the mix to solve this problem)
What we're seeing is frequent disconnections from Exchange, regardless of the CAS server. That is, both CAS servers will disconnect clients, but not at the same time.  When we look at the Exchange boxes, we notice that the CPU is 99% - 100% each time the
disconnections occur.  When we hunt down the IISWorker process causing the sudden CPU run, we see it comes back to the following app pools:
    MSExchangeMAPIFrontEndAppPool
    MSExchangeMAPIMailboxAppPool
(We were running RPC/HTTP, but switched to MAPI/HTTP to resolve the problem.  We had the same issue with equivalent RPC app pools at the time.)
Eventually, within a minute or two, the CPU load will decrease and the clients connected via that CAS will regain connection.  As you can imagine, the pain is felt more frequently by uncached clients--although everyone, regardless of caching, will see
    the disconnections.
Basically, the problem sounds exactly as shown in this KB:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2995145  Unfortunately, we already had .NET 4.5.2 installed, and have changed the environment variable and registry as shown in the article.
We're in contact with Microsoft Support, but thus far they're scratching their heads.
I'm clearing up all small errors to decrease the noise in the application error logs, but the most persistent one is Event ID 106 (MSExchange Common):
"Performance counter updating error. Counter name is Time in Resource per second, category name is MSExchange Activity Context Resources. Optional code: 2. Exception: The exception thrown is : System.InvalidOperationException: Instance 'ad-powershell-defaultdomain'
already exists with a lifetime of Process.  It cannot be recreated or reused until it has been removed or until the process using it has exited."
Loading/reloading and recreation of the performance counters does not fix the problem, by Microsoft Support or us.  Of course, this error existed before we started having issues; I'd just like to clean it up just in case it's a contributing factor.
    Has anyone seen anything similar?

We're using a Barracuda load balancer (641), but we've eliminated that as a source of the problem.  The CPU spikes and disconnections happen whether or not the load balancer is in use.
This problem is still ongoing, and we're still working with Microsoft Support.  Right now they're focused on our environment, but having combed through it numerous times, there's nothing that stands out. I suspect this is a bug in CU7 (yet I would
readily accept our environment being at fault if it means we can identify and resolve the problem), but that's not the road Support is going down.
We've looked at storage I/O on the VM hosts (disk responses are 10 MS or less), added double the CPUs to each mail server (for a total of 8, each), disabled TCP chimney offload, run numerous Experfwiz log collections, etc...  Now
the tech is focused on a particular mailbox database being the culprit because it also takes up more CPU when the MAPI app pools are gunning pretty high.  I suspect that it is a symptom and not the problem, but I have no choice but to follow his lead.
What is your environment like? Are you also CU7?  And did the problem show itself after a cumulative update was applied?

  • Frequent Bluetooth Disconnects and Reconnects

I have been following this topic for many months under many thread topics.  Whether the iPhone 3GS (and I presume the iPhone 4) is connected via Bluetooth to a headset, handsfree, or some automobile systems, it may experience frequent and intermittent disconnecting and reconnecting. (Those devices giving voice prompts every time it disconnects and reconnects can be annoying )  Many replies have confirmed similar experiences and some have recommended various fixes ranging from resetting various network functions, to re-pairing the phone to the audio system, to keeping the charger to the phone plugged in, etc.  I have discovered that if an active connection is made, e.g. phone call connection, music streaming, or gps navigation connection, the bluetooth connection remains solid and stable throughout the connection.  A downside of course is one does not want to have to have music streaming or the gps app runniing in the background on the phone all the time either.  I think a temporary fix would be a simple non obtrusive app for the phone that runs in the background that does nothing but keep the connection active would work to resolve this issue for all.  Hopefully it would not use much battery either.  P.S. I have experienced this issue with two Motorola H-17 headsets and one JabraCruiser2 Hands free units, and two separate iPhone 3GS devices.

A follow up.  The Apple Genius Bar yesterday witnessed my above symptoms, reset the network connections which did not cure the problem, finally diagnosed the phone bluetooth transmitting device was not functioning properly.  Of course my phone was out of warranty by now, so I upgraded to an iPhone 4 and now all is well. Posting this for information.

  • Podcasts no longer appear under ipod device in I tunes library.  I can access podcasts on my ipod but I CANNOT access podcasts on I tunes library.  I have disconnected and reconnected.  I have restored my ipod.  I have checked for updates. What else?

'Podcasts' under Ipod device disappeared in Itunes library.  I can't manage my podcasts on ipod via I tunes library.  I can access the podcasts on my ipod (5th generation), itself. I can access and manage music.   I can add more podcasts to ipod.  The podcast icon reappears with only the newly added podcasts.   When I disconnect ipod and reconnect ipod, 'podcasts' no longer appears under the device.  So I am unable to manage my podcasts on I tunes library which means I can't delete podcasts from I tunes library.  I can only add podcasts. I have disconnected and reconnected ipod.  I have checked for updates.  I have restored the ipod to it's original settings.  My next step will be to install and reinstall I tunes.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

To be clear, the podcast icon disappeared under Ipod device in Itunes.  I can access and manage the podcasts in the itunes library.  I can't manage podcasts on my ipod via itunes (which means I can't delete podcasts from my ipod). I can access podcasts on my ipod, itself.

  • Frequent disconnect using peap wpa2 with aes and tkip

I got frequent disconnect for the users on wireless using peap wpa2 with aes and tkip.
My network is setup with :
    -Wireless controller 4404
    -ACS 4.0
    -28 access point 1131g
-Peap authentication with active directory windows 2003
-windows xp - mschap2 with aes- tkip
when i check only aes on the wireless controller 4404 the network user are able work in a stable condition

This might similar to the bug where Wireless phones dont associate if WPA2 is configured with both AES/TKIP. In this case try to upgrade the controller.

  • My WIFI keeps on disconnecting and even after reporting and suggestion by support the phone hasnt been replaced or repaired under warranty

I think I have had enough. So its been a long time back and forth between me and you. Since I am not getting any solution and same thing you guys are providing me again and again.
I want to take a step back and list down a few things which have happened so far :-
I started chatting with the apple support on this issue starting September - please refer back to your chats on this Serial Number.
I have factory reset my phone like 20 times since then as each time they asked me to follow few steps which made me loose my data as your icloud doesn't work properly as stated by your customer care support people itself that sometimes the back up doesn't happen so please take back up at your laptop too.
Send phone diagnostics by clicking on a link.
    reset your WIFI settings
Call apple support after 24 hours of observation.
Next day when same issue occurs then extreme Apology.
Take Back up on computer and Icloud both and contact apple support once its done
    Call apple support again.
Factory Reset by erase all contents and setting options. Once one call back again.
wait and analyse for a whole day after setting up apple ID and data.
    Wifi Issue stil exists.
    Call apple support again
Between all this I had to explain the issue each time to a new representative. This above process I have gone through at least 7-8 times. Please go and refer your call notes.
So finally i got to know after escalating it several times and one of your supervisors told me that the issue is a hardware issue and it can only be replaced as they have tried it all.
Supervisor assured me that he has recommended it to be replaced in notes and asked me to visit a center.
I called in local distributor and set up an appointment, unfortunately couldnt make it. So call them to reschedule as I am working women so i dont have all the time in life to keep interacting with associate after associate so thought of walking in to an apple store near by and lodge a complaint. The supervisor updated me that I have warranty left and it will be replaced without any cost and also if i report and issue in warranty and if apple is not able to resolve it so the warranty stands true until its completely resolved after customer's consent.
I went in to give my phone to the tech support and they kept it for analysis and came back saying the issue doesnt exist. I was getting a disconnection in my WIFI every now and then. My Data plan was always used and i fortunately have a proof of that.
Customer rep told me talk to apple support and if they say we will replace it. One more place added where customer has to go.
Now and back to square one - They say phone is damaged - we cant replace it. First of all the phone is not damaged and you guys are just finding reasons to not replace a faulty phone.
It randomly disconnects and its listed as a known issue on your website too. had this not been listed i would have never thought its the phone. Then I started to observe that its the phone that makes a disconnection and not the WIFI connections as it was everywhere home, office and at friends place.
Best i can do is call you guys when this happens if you guys promise me that the tech employee of apple can come to whatever location i suggest at that point and do not be surprised if the phone behaves normal when the person arrives as its random.
Now you want pictures of my phone and you want to analyse further.

After making an appointment and waiting over a week I was a few minutes late for my appointment I was told by apple I would have to make a new appointment. The shop was Chatswood in Sydney and the manager Mathew was very pathetic. I travelled 1 hour each way and was treated very poorly I must comment and say this was my first Apple devices and I will never understand how come people are buying these devices. The apps seem really good if only the hardware and the support could match. I really wish this manager all his best to Matthew in his next position somewhere else he obviously should not be in the position of managing an Apple store.

  • Very slow broadband and frequent disconnects

    Hi
I have been a new BT customer since April 2013 after moving to rural Scotland. They gave estimated speeds as 8Mb download and 2Mb upload which I was happy with considering location. For about 3 months those were the speeds we were getting until a phone fault which was traced to a loose copper wire at the exchange.
An engineer was sent, the fault repaired and things returned to normal for around 2 weeks until the router disconnected and since then despite untold hours on the phone to BT support, 3 routers and 2 engineers later, the issue remains unresolved. I'm at my wits end now and hope someone on here can help. We do have an Openreach engineer in the village but he takes cables out and doesn't have access to all the test equipment.
    Here are my router stats:
    ADSL Line Status
    Connection Information
    Line state: Connected
    Connection time: 0 days, 07:59:12
    Downstream: 4.063 Mbps
    Upstream: 448 Kbps
    ADSL Settings
    VPI/VCI: 0/38
    Type: PPPoA
    Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A
    Latency type: Interleaved
    Noise margin (Down/Up): 8.5 dB / 17.0 dB
    Line attenuation (Down/Up): 10.1 dB / 3.5 dB
    Output power (Down/Up): 13.9 dBm / 12.3 dBm
    FEC Events (Down/Up): 59064 / 0
    CRC Events (Down/Up): 1 / 0
    Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    HEC Events (Down/Up): 0 / 0
    Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
Btw, that download speed has been 8Mb all the time we've had the router installed but from yesterday which was really bad for disconnects (and you can see it has been off again in the night) it's now suddenly 4Mb.

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you  run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • WRT400N - frequent disconnects on Windows 7 Enterprise

I work from home for a software company, so I'm constantly online transferring data and talking to customers via Skype & a Cisco IP Phone. I've got my work laptop PC (running Win7 Enterprise) connected to the WRT400N using a LAN cable (wireless is for a MacBook Pro my wife uses).  The WRT400N is updated to the latest firmware.
The problem I'm having is that I'm getting disconnected throughout the day, and nothing short of power cycling the wireless router is fixing the problem.  I've tried disabling and re-enabling the LAN adapter, ipconfig /release and /renew, and rebooting the laptop.  It seems that each time, I am forced to power cycle the router to restore connectivity.
I used to use the wireless adapter on the laptop, but due to frequent disconnects I moved the router to sit directly next to my laptop and just hooked up the LAN cable.  I discovered that my Comcast modem was actually dropping connectivity so I had them swap it out for an updated model and since then I can see that it's staying connected (and yes, I'll admit I'm doing the n00b test of watching the LEDs to see if they're blinking off whenever I lose connectivity now).  As I type this I have actually switched back to using the wireless adapter which hasn't disconnected in the past 6 hours (a record).
Long-winded so I apologize.  I really would like to resolve this issue somehow but I'm not a network expert by any means and I've exhausted my limited ability to troubleshoot.

Try  to follow the below mentioned settings and then check.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter. Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case.
    Click on the Wireless tab
Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed.
Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network.
Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA2, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA2 Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be equal to or more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings.

  • Verizon GT704-WG-B modem. Sudden, frequent disconnects.

Hi, I've been searching on Google and reading forums everywhere for a solution yet I can't seem to find one anywhere. The closest to my issue was this post http://forums.verizon.com/t5/High-Speed-Internet-DSL-and-Dial/Connection-keeps-dropping/td-p/283839, only at the end they OP doesn't really explain how they fixed their problem, only that it stopped.
The only difference is my internet pauses, the internet light goes off on the modem, begins resetting itself, working again a few moments later, but only for about 5-15 minutes before repeating that process again. This happens randomly and normally happens all at once for a long time before I give up and go to sleep then try the next day.
I've tried many steps I've read over time from power cycling, using a preferred DNS server, ipconfig/release(and renew [which I read my specific model seems to block me from resetting my IP?]), checking the phone line, and checking the filters.
In a last ditch effort I tried calling the house on my cell, and after reaching voicemail it seems that the internet would pop off briefly. I thought maybe the problem was the phones, so I unplugged them all and that seemed to work for a few hours. Then tonight (Starting at 9:30PM PST I believe) it began all over again with it resetting itself over and over until I gave up on what I had planned to do.
I'm hoping someone here can help with my issue.
One last bit of information; This issue only began happening AFTER recieving a recent upgrade to my speed (From 7MB to 15MB I believe), before then I had almost zero issues with connection and none that a simple reboot of my old modem didn't fix, and I've been with Verizon since I think their DSL first came out.

  • Clients getting frequently disconnected - Interference issue !!!!!

    Hi,
We have a 2504 WLC, recently past few weeks all the WiFi clients are facing frequent WiFi disconnectivity issue.
    version: 7.6.130.14
Sample output of 1 AP out of total 5 (AIR-LAP1041N-E-K9).

Can anybody recommend some workaround for this.
Will reducing the power level of AP help to resolve this issue.

I think you're "barking at the wrong tree".  Co-channel interference won't cause widespread clients disconnection issues.
What kind of clients are getting this issue?  Computers?  Smartphones?  Tablets?
    What's your encryption/authentication settings?
Have you tried running a debug on the clients during disconnection and reconnection?
