Hlevel in EVDRE Formula

Hi,
In our Heirarch, we have Cash, AR, Interco and a few others under Current Assets.  I'm trying to build a balance sheet and show all of the dependant members under each of these, but the only way I can do this with a huge expansion like this:  DEP(CASH)|DEP(AR)|DEP(INTERCO)|DEP(ADV_DEP)|DEP(PREPAIDS)|DEP(OTH_CURR_ASSETS).
I would like to just say DEP(Current_Assets), but this does not get down to the correct level.  When we had the report in EVEXP, we used [ACCOUNT].currentmember.properties("HLEVEL")="5".
Does anyone know if there any way to use this same type of Hlevel with EVDRE reports.
thanks
Mike

You might try to use a filter for HLEVEL=2, HLEVEL=3, etc. Or you might try to use LDEP, LALL, each has parameters that you may add as well.  Or build a property in the dimension and then use the property as the filter for your request, especially if it is a common or highly used process/request.
Hope this helps.

  • EVDRE sheet expansion problem

i created an evdre with sheet expansion to expand across tabs and when i expand all, the same data is displayed on every sheet even though each tab has a different name. has anyone else ever encountered this?

I am facing a similar problem, i have tested it on 7.0 and 7.5.
When you try to expand through the sheets as your only expansion (so row and columns are fixed), the system will fail. This is because the expand through sheets will adjust the evdre formula in the newly created sheets, removing the column for expansion in sheets. In case there are no other expansions left in this sheet, the evdre will trow an error: expandrange must have 8 rows and at least two columns and will not refresh the information, as the there is now only one column in the expand range (with the parameters)
I consider this a bug, the system should see that if the expand in sheets is the only expansion, the formula of the actual evdre must change, removing the total expansion area, rather than changing the range to one column.
I was hoping it would be fixed in 7.5 but unfortunately I just discovered that it has not...

    Hi Matthew,
You can achieve this by using multiple EVDRE's in the same schedule.
    For example
    A               B        J       K             L
    EVDRE1                     EVDRE2
             COL1                               COL1

  • EVDRE Report and Formatting

    Hi
I am quite new to BPC, so my apologies if this is a very basic question, I've created in BPC for Excel ( BPC Version 7, Excel 2003 ) an EVDRE report, which I would now like to format.
As my report is static, rather than use the FormatRange, I'd ideally like to turn off altogether any BPC formatting, and do my own formatting via Excel i.e. Bold certain fields, draw line Borders around areas etc.
I've tried not referring the FormatRange ( blank format range, and no formatting specified ), but still when I refresh my Excel formatting is changed or overwritten altogether.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Kind Regards
    Gavin

As the report is static, did you remove the expansions? Or is it configured in a way that expansion is always the same?
If expansions are enabled, and all formatting ranges are cleared, EVDRE will automatically apply the formatting defined in the top left cell for the datarange, the top cell for the rowkeyrange and descriptions for the member in the rowkeyrange, and the formatting in the leftmost cell in the colkeyrange.
If you disable the expansion by removing the expansionrange from your EVDRE formula, you can hardcode formatting for each cell independently, and only data is refreshed upon hitting the refresh button.
Maybe this will solve your issue.

  • Displaying hierarchy in input schedule

    Hi,
I have a customer dimension with  hierarchy. i want to display the customer dimension in hierarchial fashion by using customer hierarchy in input schedule. i have gone throught the below thread
Create Hierarchy in REport which expalins to use  REPT function REPT(" ",EVPRO(,$C47,"HLEVEL"))&EVDES($C47). when i'm expanding schedule after updating the description column(keeping customer dimension in row in evdre report) with the above said formula results are not displaying in tree like fashion. i have maintain hierarchy in customer dimension under  ParentH1 property.
system doesn't generate HLEVEL property as expalined in the thread.
    Thanks
    UDAY

    Hi Uday,
System does generate the HLEVEL property. You can confirm this by going into the SQL tables in the server. Open the table dim<dimension>. This table will have the HLEVEL column. This is a system generated property. If you have hierarchy in the member sheet, then you will have the HLEVEL property as well.
Just to check, place the below formula in one of the cells
    =EVPRO(<appname>,<memberID>,"HLEVEL")
The above formula should display you some number indicating the level of the member in the hierarchy. If it is working fine, then you can refer to my reply in the below post
    Create Hierarchy in REport
    This will definitely work.

  • SAP BPC NW-  input schedule refresh issue

    Hi,
I have created a input schedule which is working fine on my machine in dev and production and same is working fine in dev on my client machine but it is not working in the production system.
I checked the input schedule in Production and found that EDVRE is not ok on my client machine but same template shows no error on my machine.
Please suggest if i am missing someting.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev Kumar

    Hi Sanjeev,
Without looking, it will be very difficult to tell the reason.
When you are saying that the EVDRE is not OK, then check in the first cell, where EVDRE formula is written. You need to trace it down. It will be difficult for us to say. However, I have a feeling that there must be some problem in the key ranges only. Check the formulas as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • Error retrieving data from the web server in Excel fo BPC

    Hello Everybody,
I'm working with BPC v7.5 , i created some reports with the EVDRE formula and they were working perfectly.
The problem started when i created new users, that in fact have the same access profile and task profile as my user.
i started to test these new users in excel and every time i expand the report this legend appears: " EVDRE Retrying... EVDRE encountered an error retrieving data from the Web Server. Retrying in (X) Seconds...". After waiting a while a push cancel, then appears a window with the legend: Ev4excel Addin, Errors found retriening data.
The funny thing is that when i login back to my user everything works fine again, any idea what could be the problem? the other user have the same permissions.
    Thanks a lot in advance!!
    Nidia Olguí

very strange. Normally the member access profile must be diifferent. So it is not important the task profile but the member access profile. Can you please double check ?
If you are doing a simple EVDRE with users having problems is it working or you still have problems?

  • BPC v5 and evcom

    Hello all,
    Hoping you can help.....
I have recently completed an implementation of a budgeting/forecasting solution in BPC v5 and have a couple of recurring issues.
As this is my first implementation using SAP BPC these may simply be down to inexperience.
    1) EVcom - I am successfully using the evcom function to send comments to the database but when the linked cell contents is amended and data resent I do not get the last comment retreived. I realise that more that one record is created in the comments table in the database, how can I get the evcom to display the last record or somehow display all comment records for that intersection of dimensions?
"my first comment" - 1 comment sent fine
"my second comment" - 1 comment sent fine but on refresh I get
"my ...(2)" reflecting that there are two records for that intersection
    2) Intermittent error message when expanding/refreshing an input schedule, "EVDRE encountered an error retrieving data from the webserver" - sometimes it works sometimes not
I realise this could be down to a whole host of reasons but was wondering is there is a top 5 common reasons for this error?
    Many thanks
    Phil

    Hello Phil,
I do not have a concrete solution to your first problem, but I have experienced the EVCOM issue as well. I am not 100% sure that this is exact issue, but when users of our application append an exisiting comment (on a input schedule w/ EVDRE), then send and expand/refresh the workbook, the previously appended comment text is pasted back into the input cell.
When this happens in our application, the cell that actually holds the EVCOM formula shows the latest comment text, while the input cell still contains the previously appended comment. If I expand/refresh the workbook a second time, the correct comment is then posted into the input cell.
From what I have been able to test, it appears that when EVCOM is used in conjunction with EVDRE, the order of the procedures that are run by BPC when the workbook is expanded/refreshed is incorrect. Apparently, the appended comment text is sent to the comment tables (database) correctly, but when the workbook is subsequently expanded/refreshed, the system first, copies the current EVCOM formula value (from the cache) into the EVCOM input cell, then retrieves the EVDRE values, and finally, refreshes the EVCOM formula values from the database (with latest comment text). The problem is that once the procedure is finished, the "latest" version of the appended comment is not pasted into the EVCOM input cell.
To check to see if this is your exact issue, the next time you duplicate the problem, check the EVCOM formula itself, and see if it shows the "latest" comment text.
One workaround is to refresh the workbook twice. I have another workaround that I use, but it is somewhat more complicated and involves VBA. If you would like to hear about it, just let me know.
I have not had a chance to open a ticket with SAP support on this issue yet, but you may wish to do so.
As for the second problem, the EVDRE web-error can result from a number of things. Check to make sure your EVDRE formula and criteria are setup correctly. Also, whenever my users experience that error, the user's security rights are usually not setup correctly to view certain data being retreived by the EVDRE function.
Hope this helps clarify the issue,
    Jared Thornton

  • HideColKeys not working

    Hello Friends,
I've generated a simple evDRE report.
To my surprise, the Col Keys and Row Keys are not getting hidden, if I hardcode the Keys using some formulae....( for example: using evTIM function for Col header).
If i dont hardcode, the keys are getting hidden, when i mention it in the Options.
But when I hard code and set the corresponding Column Expansion to be "NOEXPAND", both Row keys and Col keys are not getting hidden.
I've checked all the ranges in the evDRE building block, and everything seesm fine..
    Kindly assist....

    hi there
I would try without the NOEXPAND option
Instead just remove the reference to the expansion range in your EVDRE formula.
    hope this helps

  • How to use Excell formula's within EVDRE

    Hi,
we want to built a rather large P&L with time in columns and account and cost center in the rows.
We would like to insert some subtotals within the P&L strucure using simple excel formula's.
So we create the P&L structure and leave some empty rows in between, which are filled up with excell formula's. The row key range is adapted, so it does not reference the excell formula's. If we hit refresh workbook, our P&L is ready and displaying the correct data.
Problem now is if we select 'expand all'. My entire P&L structure is changed and displayes the last section of the row key range several times (as many as we have different row key ranges) ... I've put "noexpand" on all of the dimensions on row and column ...
So normally does one use the functionality of excell formula's within a EVDRE report?
    D
    solved it

    Hi D
One way is to switch of the expansions and insert the rows and then have the subtotals. to swith of expansion just edit the cell where you have written the evdre function and then remove the formulas pointing to expand range.
EVSUB in after range would not work here as the whole range is related to one dimension and it works if we have two dimensions and need subtotals

  • BPC 7.5 NW: Inserting an excel formula the data col. in an EVDRE input sch.

    Hello,
I am trying to design an input schedule for uploading trial balances from SAP. In one sheet, I have an extract of a trial balance from SAP. In another sheet, I have an EVDRE report which has an expansion in rows based upon the entities selected (so that the entities selected for data upload could match the entities in the trial balance. It is flexible for different users/regions).
The problem is that I would like to use a VLOOKUP or SUMIF formula to populate the data column in the EVDRE report (pull the data from the trial balance sheet). But as soon as the data is submitted, the formula will disappear and I will just have data.
Does anybody have any ideas as how this could be avoided.
    Many thanks.

    1. Login into BPC for Admin
    2. Once logged into your Appset , open the Dimension library
    3. Process each dimension by selecting the "Process members from membersheet" and by unchecking the "Take system offline" option
    4. Process all the dimensions one by one not together.
    5. Once processing the dimensions is done then open the Applications and Modify each Application by adding or changing the Application Description.
    6. Once done modifying Applications then logout of the BPC Admin and BPC Excel.
    7. Login back again into BPC for Excel by going through the connection wizard.
Ideally this should solve your problem and If all the dimensions are processed successfully then logoff and login to see if you stilll see the EVDRE error.
    Hope this helps.

  • Use of Excel Formulas in EVDRE reports

    Dear Freinds,
I am trying to use excel formulas in EVDER (report).
                                                      2011.MAR
    Account(Base level member)  =SUM(RANGE)
this at somepaces is working and in some places its  not working. Kindly share the knowldge how to use them in excel

    Hi Vishwanath,
Whenever we expandan EVDRE report or Input schedule, the formula (if any) in the first cell is applied to the to the other cells as well. Thus in expansion we will loose any formula specified in the other cells.
If you donot want this to happen, it is better to make the evdre static. This should help you use formulae as required.
    Hope this helps.

  • EvDRE - SortRange - AfterRange - Copy Excel formula

    Hi all,
In BPC NW 7.5 SP04 I have performed the following actions:
I have sorted the EvDRE based on some column and added an AfterRange parameter.
In the AfterRange cells I have entered various Excel formulas as well as evsub.
The system would copy the Excel formulas to the line with the EV_AFTER and the copy was like standard Excel.
e.g. - In the AfterRange I would specify cell B2. in B2 I would write the formula A1B1.
When the EvDRE would run, assume that the after range had to be in cell E16, The value of E16 would be the result of the formula D15+E15.
This year we have upgraded to SP06. This functionality stopped working. I tackle 2 situations:
    1. If the cell is defined in general format - the system simply copies the result of the formula. In the example above if A1+B1 is 0, I would simply get 0 all over (copy the value and not the formula).
    2. If the cell is defined as TEXT in Excel, the original formula is copied (i.e. in the example above all cells would have the formula A1+B1).
    evsub works as it should.
Any idea why did this happen? is there a note? does the system now works as it should and I simply enjoyed a bug in SP04?
    Thanks,
    Avihay

    Hi Ethan,
I have Accounts in Rows and Time in columns. Range E24:E26 is in AfterRange filed on column expansion. 'E24:E26' range adds prior 2 time columns. I want to display this summation on a particular condition, say only if cell D11 = 1. So I wrote a formula in AfterRange field in Column expansion: =IF(D11=1,"E24:E26","") .
This formula in AfterRage field doesn't work. But if I manually type value 'E24:E26' in that field, it correctly adds up prious 2 time periods. I think the issue is with formatting.
    Thanks, John

  • EVDRE Input Schedule - shifting of cells/formulas

    Hi everybody,
I am using BPC version 5.1. I do have a problem with an EVDRE Input Schedule. It is a single EVDRE report which is nested with a product and an account dimension.
Underneath the Data Input Range, I have written additional information and included a button with the send function. If I change the selected product members through another button which is above the input range and expand the report, the additional information and the button always move one row up when expanding.
Has anybody experienced a similar problem or has a solution for the problem? I am happy to provide additional information.
On top of that problem I do have cell reference sin formulas that also change when expanding. I e.g. have a EVPROP formula that shifts the row in the reference one row up each time I expand. The formula is on the left side of the input range next to the row IDs. I don't know why, but this problem doesn't occur on all input schedules.
Does anybody have a clue how to solve the issue?
Thank you very much in advance!
    Christopher

    Hello experts,
    I've got another similar problem:
I do have shapes in an Excel Input Schedule, as well as drop downs, both with assigned macros. I don't know why, but some of them (not always the same) disappear.
I have no idea how that happens or where the shapes are now.
    Does anybody have a clue?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Formula/Function Retention in Expansion Area of EvDRE

    Hi,
Is there any way I can retain excel formula or function within the area of EvDRE expansion, in an input schedule?
Structure of my input schedule is fixed columns and dynamic rows.
    Many thanks,
    Shabba

    Hi Petar,
Looks like a very helpful answer, thanks for that.
But the issue is bit more complex, I've two dimensions in rows i.e. Country and Account. For each Country a block of Account members is repeated. For example:
    Country A, Account 101 - user input
    Country A, Account 102 - calculation a
    Country A, Account 103 - user input
    Country A, Account 104 - calculation b
    Country A, Account 105 - calculation c
    Country B, Account 101 - user input
    Country B, Account 102 - calculation a
    Country B, Account 103 - user input
    Country B, Account 104 - calculation b
    Country B, Account 105 - calculation c
As you can see that within block of accounts each calculation is different from the other. Here it is, also, important to mention that countries in the Country dimension are also not fixed - change with respect to the CV selections. So number of rows can't be fixed.
    I would appreciate your response.
    Many thanks,
    Shabbar
