Hotspot VM - customize?

Hi :)
I have recently started playing a little bit with the Hotspot VM, but I have trouble replacing the standard Hotspot with my custom one.
I am using Hotspot 2.0 on a Solaris 8/SPARC box. I downloaded JRE 1.3.1 and tried to replace the /lib/sparc/client/libjvm.so with my own library that was produced by the compilation, but when I run java -version with the new library, I get the following error message:
"Error: failed /nikitas/j2re1_3_1_04/lib/sparc/client/libjvm.so,
because ld.so.1: /nikitas/myfiles/NVM/softarch/nikitas/j2re1_3_1_04/bin/../bin/sparc/native_threads/java:
fatal: relocation error: file
/nikitas/j2re1_3_1_04/lib/sparc/client/libjvm.so: symbol
__1cG__CrunKpure_error6F_v_: referenced symbol not found"
I tried with JRE 1.4, but I get the same exact error message. Am I missing something here? Should I copy more files over?
Thank you for any pointers :)
Regards
Nikitas

Where did you download the sources for this? I can't find them on java.sun.com.
What I did find was this note, from :http://java.sun.com/products/hotspot/2.0/download.html
" Recent releases of the J2SE platform, including versions 1.3.1 and later, ship with enhanced implementations of the Java HotSpot Server VM, and users of those J2SE platforms should not download this the Java HotSpot Server VM 2.0. "
So possibly you are using a Hotspot engine that is incompatible with JRE 1.3.1.

It is asking for a password???

Hello and happy Sunday TCPeters,
I wanted to touch base with you to ensure that you are able to enjoy your mobile hotspot. This is easily one of my favorite features on my smartphone and I want you to have the same convenience that many others use daily. May I ask what model device do you have? Also, have you had the chance to get or change the password for this service? As you provide us with info on the status of this issue then we can customize a solution for you.
Thank you...

• Hotspot text compiles showing code, not a working link

Help would be very appreciated; sorry for not being able to find this in the Adobe site or Grainge..
Everytime I open my webhelp project, the hotspot text shows code instead of remaining as a hotspot; this is true if the hotspot is in a table or outside table. I have to keep rebuilding my hotspot text almost everwhere >>> not everywhere <<<<< in my word doc.
Everytime I open the file, the word doc does not keep the hotspot as a hotspot, shows the code, or the compiled version shows a green instead of blue color, and on top of all this, everytime I open the hpj file I cannot get the toolbar to display properly; all the Robohelp stuff that should be in the toolbar ISNT and I have to keep going into view /toolbars/ customize /options /always show full menus and toggle the dang little checkbox on and off even THOUGH it's already checked.
What gives and note: I am an original user of RH from the way back machine.
Also note: I would REALLY like to avoid having to do a reinstall so if ANYONE can comment on this please do asap.
Also, has anyone else noticed we cannot read the apology text anymore re: the Adobe support apology?
TC

Knowing what edition and version of RH you are using would help, see Before You Post.
Also a screenshot would be helpful. Use the camera icon please to post it.
Someone else reported a problem with the apology letter some weeks back and I tested it then, The link worked. I have just tested it again and it is working fine. Not sure why you are having a problem.

• Map hotspot hover text?

Can someone please tell me how to add hover text over map
hotspots?
My map is here:
http://www.bluehippotravel.com/travelweather.php
And I want to mimic the look of this map:
http://www.islands.com/destinations.jsp
I realize that the one I'd like to mimic is in flash, but I'm
pretty sure that in js there is an easy way to do this. And if so,
how can I customize the hover css attributes (color of the box
border, background color of the box, text font color/size)
Thank you in advance!
Laura

Alan,
May I ask you for a bit more detail to implement? I did add
alt text tag to one as a test.
(1) Where to add the title attributes please?
(2) Where in the map code below to add specifically what/how?
Thanks so much!

• In "Customize Toolbar", how do I know which icons are attached to specific extensions or add-ons?

When I right-click on the main toolbar to customize it, the set of icons that are shown to me are numerous. I know this is due to the add-ons that I use. What I want to know is what icons go to which extensions? There are a lot of similar ones (like left and right arrows) that do quite different functions. Then there are others which aren't easily identifiable. Right now I do a trial-and-error process of adding an icon to the toolbar, testing it, deciding first, whether it did anything, and second whether I need it. But this is cumbersome. I didn't know if there was something on the back end or even another addon that would make this easier.
Your help is much appreciated.

Deleting on one device does not affect another device.
You can delete the App's on the iPhone and nothing will happen to the ones on the iPad.
1. You don't need to.
2. Settings->Cellular->"Use Cellular Data For" will show the data usage for each App since the last statistics reset
3. Settings->General->Background App Refresh Will show which Apps are allowed to get data in the background
4. It restricts it to Wifi. If the App requires internet access and Data is turned off, it will have to wait until the device is connected to a wifi network.
5. Nope, You just use up battery since the BT radio will continuously look for nearby BT devices.
6. The Personal Hotspot uses your cellular internet connection from your phone or other cellular device; whether you consider that secure or not I cannot say. It also depends on what you are doing while connected to the Hotel's wifi. I would not do online banking while on vacation though.

• Dunning Letters Customization

Hi,
I want to customize Dunning letter program. We have around 10 Operating Units. We want to build the customization for only US and UK operating units using BI Publisher. Rest of the operating units need to use the standard report.(text output.)
'Dunning Letter Generate' will call 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate' program. 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate' will need to show the PDF output for US, UK operating units. Need to show text output for other operating units.
How can i customize this.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry if i confuse you. We are using BI Publisher with EBS integration.
'Dunning Letter Generate' is a spawned program which calls 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate' internally. We cannot update 'Dunning Letter Generate' to call other programs.
Now i can build template for 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate' to get the PDF output.
But i need PDF output for only US and UK operating units only. For the remaining operating units should use previous standard text output.
Here i cannot create seperate custom programs for US, UK operating units. Because we cannot call them from 'Dunning Letter Generate'.
How can i proceed.
Please let me know.

• Customize Print Quote stylesheet ASOPRINT.xsl

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to check if we can use the existing Print Quote functionality to generate custom Quote Reports. As i see we can create new XML templates by making changes to the standard style sheet ASOPRINT.XSL. According to what is mentioned in the oracle quoting guide we can add company logo, change height width etc.. of the report by modifying this style sheet. I need to know how do we cusomize the style sheet to include static text or add new tables etc.. I am very new to XSL so do not have much idea as to where is the data fetched from and where is the static text present.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for the response. I went through the documents and they mainly talk about customizing the Quote report by including the company logo, Title and disclaimer. How can we add static text to the ASOPRINT.XSl style sheet in order to customize it and attach it to a custom tempalate. I am very new to this so do not have much idea. can we add the static test directly in the style sheet or is it fetched from somewhere?

• Cannot open customize OAF screen after upgrade to 12.1.3

Hi,
After upgrade to 12.1.3, I am not able top open customize OAF screens from Applications.
By following some documents from MOS, I have done the following.
1)-applied patch 9879989 on Linux server.
2)-I am able to install JDeveloper, open and compile my customize programs from JDeveloper installed on Linux server. I compilation, new *.jpx files created from *.jpr
From Oracle Applications, I am getting the same error that I was getting without compiling customize program.
My question is that, how Oracle applications will read the new compiled program. Do all program need to be in specific unix directory ?
I copied all the customized program under " /u01/oracle/jdev_install_dir/jdevhome/jdev/myprojects" .
I think the problem is now to place OAF files in the problem directory, which I don't know.
Do I need to set environment variable like JDEV_USER_HOME in the environment file ?
Please help.
Best Regards

Not sure if your issue is resolved. Did you compile the java sources in JDeveloper and moved all files from myclasses folder to unix under $JAVA_TOP or appropriate directory and deployed the PG files using xmlimporter?
Thanks

• Macbook pro can´t find/connect to my hotspot

Dear experts!
I recently moved to a new place and got myself a T-Mobile HomeNet Router. Everything works fine (WiFi and Ethernet) with all devices (iPhone, iPad, iMac, Linux-machine...) EXCEPT my MacBook Pro (specs below in the product section) :-(
Ever since I moved the Macbook can´t find or connect to my home hotspot. Settings on the router are as follows:
- 802.1 b/g (it IS capable of b/g/n but I found a thread somewhere pointing out that this could be an issue)
- channel 13 (deactived auto-channel because my neighbours had overlapping channel settings...this was the only one that worked)
- rate auto
- frequency 2.4 GHz
- 30% signal strength (same reason as above)
- QoS activated
- SSID hidden (tried broadcasting it, made no difference)
- WPA2-PSK
- AES (TKIP and TKIP+AES available as well...but neither made any difference)
I can connect via ethernet, however that´s not the intended purpose of neither my notebook nor the router :-/ Someone suggested it might be an encryption issue but even without ANY encryption the hotspot won´t show up in the list. Password contains special characters but even my old iMac doesn´t seem to have problems with it. I tried connecting manually via "other network" without success. Also via Controlpanel -> Network -> Assist me ...
I´m sitting right next to my router so the signal strength can´t be the cause either (besides all other devices work just fine anywhere in my appartement). Restarted all devices, each one is up to date. Last thing I tried was making the changes in Firefox cause someone suggested it might be a bug in the router software, still no success.....I´m out of ideas.
Posted this in another Mac forum already but no one could help me :-( You guys are my last hope ... does anyone know this issue and how to solve it??
any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
many thanks in advance

• How to set up a wireless private bubble at paid hotspot? WTR54GS

Hi,
I have the WTR54GS travel router. Reading the manual I understand I can create a private wifi bubble with the WTR54GS to share a hot spot.
From the manual:
"You can also use multiple devices on a single hotspot account in a coffee shop or airport lounge and be protected with WPA Personal encryption or a powerful SPI firewall".
I've successfully used the WTR54GS as an AP with the router connected by cable to a wired Internet source.
But how do I set it up to receive one wifi signal then rebroadcast as a private "bubble" I don't see any specific settings in the setup or descriptions in the manual. Maybe it's easier than I think?
If possible I'd like to be able to use a B wifi device (my PDA) at a place that's only broadcasting G.
thanks.

The WTR54GS (wireless travel router) is often confused with the WRT54GS (wireless router), because of their similar names.
The WTR54GS (Travel Router) can accept an Internet connection from an ethernet cable or an unsecured wireless network. This is set up using the very first item on the router's setup pages, namely "Incoming Internet type" which can be set to "wired" or "wireless". The key thing here is that the WTR54GS cannot use an encrypted wireless system for its incoming Internet connection.
It can then generate a secured (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) wireless LAN, under your own unique SSID, and you can connect several wireless computers to it. (If you have a switch, you can also connect several wired computers to it.)
If you are trying to use the router to share a single paid unsecured wireless connection, then it should work. Be sure when you sign up that you use the router, so the service recognizes the router's MAC address (and not your computer's MAC address) as a "paid" user.
If you are trying to use the router to provide security, this will not happen with this type of a "wireless network-to-wireless network" setup. The reason for this is that all your transmissions ultimately are passed unencrypted between the WTR54GS and the hotel's wireless router.
On the other hand, if you use a wired "Incoming Internet Connection", then the router works quite nicely at setting up a shared and secure wireless network. ( This assumes that the wire you are using is secure. )
By the way, your wireless b device should easily be able to connect to a wireless g network.

• Team Planner -- Customization

We recently upgraded to 2010 professional, and I was pleased to see the team planner view, which was something I was attempting to do in 2007. We are using MS Project 2010 Professional more for resource management than project management. In
fact, we only assign one task per resource per project, just so we can have a clear picture of our resource utilization. For example, if "Joe" is going to work on this project for 50 days, regardless of what he is doing, he goes in at 50 days (and the
duration is calculated based on the percentage he is allowed to work on projects vs. day-to-day work (MAX Units), and the percentage the manager has assigned for him to do this work (Assigned Units). We don't care what "Joe" is doing, just that his time
is booked. We have assigned more than one resource to the same task, and the team planner (unlike the resource usage view), does allow breakdown by resource, and not just by project.
The purpose of this view is to provide management reports (printed/electronic PDF copies), for their weekly meetings to discuss the status of the resources and the impact of any new projects being proposed. So I need to show more info then the basic
info in the default Team Planner View.
I just read another question regarding adding extra columns to this view and was disappointed to discover that cannot be done. I have a shared resource pool with 140 resources and a master project schedule with 50 projects, and I am running the
team planner view against the shared pool. So, like the other person, I wanted to add a column with the project name (since the tasks are similiar in name, it gets confusing if it only shows the task name, as we have no idea which project it is associated
with), as well as add a column for "section" (a custom field created in the resource view so each manager can view his own team), and a column showing Max Units, so we can understand why someone with only 1 task is overallocated. As well, I would like
to customize the task bar to include the Units for that resource (ie. 50%), so I can understand also why he is overallocated or available at glance.
As a workaround for the missing project name, I embedded the name in the task, which is very time consuming and not a real solution, since at any given time I have over 50 projects in the master project schedule.
I hope this is something that is being considered in future, since it makes sense to me that management wants a view of the resource pool by assigned task, by project, and understanding of overallocation.
Trish :)

You can create and apply a Group to list all tasks by resource. You could also group by Project then by resource or the other way around. In Proejct 2010 select the View tab, then in the
Group By drop down box select New Group By and select the fields to group by.
If you like teh Group, copy it to your Globa.mpt file using teh Organizer so it's available in all your projects.

• "Program files" directory problem during Microsoft Office Customization Installer in non-English versions of Windows

We have a document-level customization solution for Word and are experiencing problems during deployment in an environment running on terminal services. The OS (Windows 2012) is English and Word (2013) is non-English (German).
Installation is done into the "Program Files" folder correctly. But when trying to start a word document linked to the specific template. The "Microsoft Office Customization Installer" pops up with the error.
"There was an error during installation"
From: file:///C:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto
Downloading file:///c:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not succeed.
Exception: ....
System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDonwloadException: Download file:///C:/Programme/[Companyname]/Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not suceed. ---> System.Net.WebException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Programme\[Companyname]\[Productname]\[Productname].vsto'.
---> System.Net.WebException: ...... ---> System.IO.DirectoyNotFoundException......
The problem seems to be that the installer is looking for C:\PROGRAMME instead of C:\PROGRAM FILES. C:\PROGAMME is the German localized name of PROGRAM FILES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Program_Files).
The installer installs the solution correctly deployed into c:\program files, but when the later a user tries to start it and the Microsoft Office Customization Installer is called, it tries to access the non-existing "c:\programme" folder. This
doesn't exist, because Windows is English.
Is there any thing related to deploying solutions on a platform which has different languages (mixing/matching of OS language and Office language?)
Thank you for your help

Hello,
1. First, I would confirm with you whether you dealt with the localization for your document-level add-in?
2. Did you use this way to define the Create a class that defines the post-deployment action part of Put the document of a solution
onto the end user's computer (document-level customizations only) and did you get the path with Environment.SpecialFolder enum?
To handle this, I would recommend you consider using Environment.SpecialFolder to set that property.
Regards,
Carl
