How can I arrange the front panel?

Hello,
I’m using LV 7.1 and created a VI with many controls and indicators. It writes and reads data to and from a bus system. For that I used the flat sequence structure and many case structures.
Now I would like to order the front panel, i.e. by using the tab control only the data read or only the user settings should be displayed.
But using the tab control slows the whole VI down, so that a data recording in real time is impossible.
Are there any other possibilities to bring the front panel into order if the number of controls and indicators is too high for the screen?
Thanks in advance,
UoS

Do you mean that the CPU usage goes up and the PC responds slowly. If so, this is interesting. This is most likely related to a grphical element causing the system to slow down. The tab control should theoretically take care of this, but about a year ago I ran into a similar situation where a tab caused problem here. In that case it looked like controls that were partially displayed caused the problem and when using the tab control the problem was there even when displaying another page. If this is so, you can try to determine the source by scrolling the screen in different directions. Once the problematic area is moved off the screen the VI should run faster. This way you can tell which area has the problem.
Try to take over the world!

However, the remote VI dinamically loads another VI, this VI loaded dinamically is a VI that allows open others VIs, I want to see the files that contains the server machine, in the client machine, but the front panel of the dinamic VI appears only on the server and not on the client, How can I display the fron panel with the files of the server machine of the dinamically loaded VI on the client computer?

I down loaded your files but could use some instructions on what needs run.
It seems that you are so close yet so far. You need to get the data on the server machine over to the client. I generally do this by doing a call by reference (on the client machine) of a VI that is served by the server. THe VI that executes on the server should pass the data you want to diplay via one of its output terminals. You can simply wire from this terminal (back on the client again) to an indicator of your choosing.
Now theorectically, I do not think that there is anything that prevents use from getting the control refnum of the actual indicator (on the server) of the indicator that has the data, and read its "Value" using a property node. I have never tried this idea but it seems t
hat all of the parts are there. You will need to know the name of the VI that holds the data as well as the indicator's name. You will also have to serve all VI's. This is not a good idea.

You can't change between stacked or overlay mode at runtime. You could use two different charts and make one or the other visible/invisible.

To a lesser extent, the same problems exists on all panels, whether they be in import window or elsewhere. Just look at the Folder panel in Library to see how much space is wasted in offsetting the subfolders. When this was pointed out to the relevant folk the reply came back that it was by design. Bad design, but we're pi...g into a head wind trying to get it changed.

    You can't.. it is terrible..
the only app that really uses it is mirror
Open this link on your phone to install mirror
    http://maemo.org/downloads/product/raw/Maemo5/mirror?get_installfile
the camera firmware is bad, so the image quality is truely terrible.. play with mirror to see.. it may be fixed in a future firmware release (it *IS* better than it was.. the firmware last year had a line through the picture!)

  • How can I use multiple front panel controls to be mirrors of each other?

    Hi All:
I know this is going to be a strange question, but I have multiple inputs that control one output.  This in itself not necessarily difficult, but I have a strange need.  If one of the control inputs change I would like this to be indicated by the other controls.  For example, I have a slider, numeric and dial controls on the front panel that control RPM.  If the slider changes to 1000 RPM I would like the numeric and dial controls to see that change.  Is this possible.  If so, can you give me advice on doing this.  I am using 7.1.  Thanks for the help.
    John Honnold

What you want is not that hard, but asked for a rather  limited times.
    Here's a how to:
    Drop a slider
Right click Visible items-> Digital display
Right click on the slider Advanced-> Customize
Right click on the Digital display Replace select the control you want to replace it with (a gauge for instance)
Right click on the Gauge Visible items -> Digital Display
Now you have one control with three control options:
This was done in 8.2 but I think the same goes for 7.1

  • How can i access remote front panel in RT with LabVIEW run time engine in client PC

    Hi to all,
I have developed the RT application with cRIO 9075 integrated chassis. And i have access its remote front panel in client PC. Now i want to access the remote panel in the client PC without having LabVIEW runtime engine. If i connect the remote panel with that client, it shows only the vi border. i doesn't downloads the  front panel.
How Can i access its remote front panel without LabVIEW runtime engine in the client PC?

You cannot view a remote front panel without the LabVIEW runtime - the LabVIEW runtime is what makes the remote front panel possible.  What you will want to do instead is likely create a Web Service that you can access from a remote PC without requiring the LabVIEW runtime.  However, this will require you to develop a web-based HTML or similar UI to interact with the VIs running on your system - NI hasn't yet created a way to export a LabVIEW front panel as an HTML'ish page.

  • How do I keep the front panel on top of every windows (including non-LabVIEW windows)?

The question above states it all.  Basically I have a progress bar the tells the user to wait and I want it to remain in front of anything that pops up while it is running.  My program opens up and deploys a VeriStand project and while it is doing that I dont' want the user to be able to do anything in the front panel that launches it.  When VeriStand launches it goes in front of the status window and you can't see it anymore.  I want to prevent this from happening and keep it in front of any VeriStand windows that pop up when I call the executable and the deploy an SDF.  I did take a look at the WINUTIL.llb but it keeps either 1) giving me errors or 2) not keeping it on top of anything but the main front panel.
Any fixes or alternative solutions would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

I did read that earlier and I just think I don't know enough of what I'm doing with library calls to make it work.  I kept getting errors and gave up on at the end of the day yesterday.  I'm working on other problems since this isn't a major one and figured I'd post it and see if anyone already had a solution to it.
Thanks for the help though, it's appreciated.

  • How can I create multiple front panels for a single block diagram?

    Hello,
I have developed a VI with multiple controls and indicators that needs to run on computers with screen resolutions ranging from 800x600 to 1680x1050. The problem I'm having is that the front panel does not properly scale for this range of resolutions by checking the options in the "VI properties" option. Is there a way to create multiple front panels of various sizes for my block diagram and programmatically select the appropriate front panel based on the screen resolution?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    See the attached Zip file.
I have two different front panels.  Open either one and run it.  They both call MainCode.vi which takes the references passed to it and register for events.  From there, it does all the work of the code you would have put in your front panel .vi.
This way each front panel can be laid out however you want for each screen resolution.

  • How do I get the front-panel to pop to the front of the screen?

I have a program that is reading in some network files. When a certain part of the file has been changed I want to pop up the front panel and blink the changed area. The blinking is easy and I can get the VI to pop to the front of any other running LV stuff (using the IsFrontmost vi property) but I need the vi to pop to the front of the entire screen and whatever else is running (Excel or the such). Any ideas on this? I'm doing the development on LV 6.1 on Win2k.
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
There is one thing I think you may have to do. If the window is minimized than it will try to make it topmost but the minimize will take precedence, so you will see the task bar blink and the OS stays in the active/current window. Try to use the "restore window" vi before trying to make it topmost. That should work.
Also make sure that, the LV window you are trying to restore and make topmost is not superceded by another LV modal window.
Thats my take, Let me know if that works, for future reference.
    Good Luck
    Mache
I've tried putting in the Restore Windoe vi and the results are the same. Both of those functions (seperate or together) result in the window moving to the top of the other LV screens only. If I have Word or explorer or anything else open, that window will stay on top and the task bar flashes. Can I use the "move window to front" vi in my main vi to move my main vi's front panel to the front? If not are there any ways to get around this? My program is mostly running in the background but when there's an important change I need it to move to the front and take precedence for a few seconds.

  • How can I unlock a front panel/block diagram in LabVIEW 7.1?

I inherited LabVIEW (7.1) code  that when I try to edit, I am not allowed. I can access and used Functions and Controls, but I cannot connect or delete them back. The mouse indicator is a hand all the time. It does not change to cross hair or wiring tool.
In the  Security section of VI properties "Unlocked(no password)" is selected.
How  can I fix the problem?
    Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you have got the automatic tool shutoff, go to menu and select window/ tools pallette and then turn back on the automatic tool. I think this is where it is located for 7.1.

  • How can I enable my front panel audio??

the type of my mainboard is MS-6552,when I inserted my earphone and microphone into the jack of the box,I can hear nothing! then I opened the box,I found that the wire was not the proper place, there were 8 wires whick marked with “MIC IN,GND,LIN,LOUT,MIC IN,GND,RIN,ROUT”,I also found the F_AUDIO on the mainboard, there were 18 pin on it,I cannot matching them! who can help me?thanx

Look through you mobo's manual and you'll find it... Don't get stressed out too early... The first computer I built myself got me stuck in the same area for hours!!!
Btw, you've got to remove the jumpers on your mobo to enable front panel sound. Be warned that most mobo only allows you to us either front panel or back panel sound only. Please also ensure that there are no stand offs underneath your mobo.

    Hi,
Based on this, your machine can have ONE of the following combinations at the front, I use the last one to answer your question:
    15-in-1 card reader + 1394 + 2 USB + 1 headphone jack + 1 microphone jack
    15-in-1 card reader + HP USB 3.0 SuperSpeed PCIe x1 card + 1394 + 2 USB + 1 headphone jack + 1 microphone jack
    15-in-1 card reader + 1394 + 2 USB + 1 headphone jack + 1 microphone jack + Audio L/R + S-video + Composite Video
    15-in-1 card reader + HP USB 3.0 SuperSpeed PCIe x1 card + 1394 + 2 USB + 1 headphone jack + 1 microphone jack + Audio L/R + S-video + Composite Video
Card reader: you can use it to read memory cards (normally from digital cameras or video cameras).
USB3: newer USB port(s) which can run 10 times faster than USB2
1394 or Firewire port: also normally for video cameras, many machines do not have it now
    USB: normal USB 2 ports
Headphone jack: for headphone, earphone or external speakers
    Microphone jack: For a microphone
Audio L/R: color coded for left and right audio channels, it does not say in or out.
S-video: Connect to additional monitor/TV, Many modern monitors/TV's now do NOT use this port.
Composite Video: also color coded (yellow). Connect to additional monitor/TV, Many modern monitors/TV's now do NOT use this port.

I want to arrange the albums by year instead of alphabetically on my iPod.

  • How can I keep the front and back of a photo together in a single image?

I'm running PSE 8 on XP with SP3.
I'm getting ready to upgrade to PSE 9.
My cousin just sent me 24 old family photos.
On the back of each photo is a lot of information.
Who is in the picture, where it was taken, what the event was, etc.
What I'd like to be able to do is to scan these images in and somehow keep the front and the back of
each photo together in a single image. That way I can post them to a photo web site and people
can look at the image and read what it is.
    I have a Lexmark Pro 205 printer/scanner.
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!

I worked on one of the pictures with your Mom and Dad. These scans are quite good and there is a lot of information in them. One can spend a lot of time fixing them up - good project!
    Here is what I did:
    Duplicated background layer
Applied Brightness/contrast adjustment layer, worked the sliders
    Merged down
Sampled sky with eye dropper tool, opened blank layer at top of stack, used brush tool to cover a few of the spots in the sky (?dust)
    Merged down
Accessed Smart brush tool, selected black & white in drop down, selected high contrast b&w, covered the sky with that
Selected Yellow filter, and covered the ground
    Merged down
Opened a blank layer at top of stack and added a couple of clouds
Applied Photofilter adjustment layer, warming filter LBA, adjusted density
    Sharpened slightly with unsharp  mask
    Merged visible
    Applied stroke
On review, the spots in the sky need additional work - they show up more on-line than in PSE.  Can be fixed in step #4.
